7 pointsPulling... since I was operating the eliminator I didn't get many pics. Hopefully others did... yep.... The Moll boys @jeremi3210 had some nice pulls. Since this is just for fun and we wanted to see Jacob beat his old man I didn’t start the weight box moving 'till he was half way down the track! Dan even hooked up Betty for a tug... Oh and Dan got 1st in the 3500 class....got his entry fee + 10 bucks back!

6 pointsSo I found this 701 back in the winter and the PO said it had been in his family as far back as he could remember. Was in a storage building for the last 15 years and he says it ran when parked. I am just now getting around to working on it and REALLY need some recommendations on how to best "preserve" it. Don't want to do a restoration, want to keep it as honest and original as it is. I did use Penetrol on the toolbox, seat stand and v bracket fender support since they had so much rust. Was amazed at how solid they were under the rust! I have done the oil rub down on the fenders (they really soaked it up) but not sure what is best route for the tins. Just the oil rub down, penetrol, others? I don't want to do anything to "ruin" the value of it in its current condition. Ideas from the purists?? I know we all love pictures so....

6 pointsSaturday nite feed... we ate like hogs or ate hogs... One of the main reasons we go thru all this work setting up campers, hot, cold, rain, hauling horses, tearing down...Dan rolled up a couple of fatties... heart attack loafs. Our buddy Joel on the Case above rotisseried some barnyard buzzards. His wife makes some marvelous 🥔 I topped it off with some bacon 🥓 wrapped asparagi... We need to start planning menus for Portage Kev.

5 pointsHauled home a non-running 1992 416-8 (Onan) this weekend. Started messing with it today, pretty sure the tank was mostly water. Drained the tank, removed it, cleaned it and everything around it. Yanked the original grommet and fuel valve, if I find fuel line tomorrow it’ll all get replaced and hopefully I’ll finally hear it run.

5 pointsLooks like a vertical shaft machine. All "Classic" horizontals had a gap in the center to mate up with the center/ lower console.

5 pointsIt's amazing to see the plastic dash in as good shape as it is! Most dash panels get broken when the choke or throttle cable get bound up. Not many original model 701 survivor tractors left, due to all the unique parts it's also the hardest Wheel Horse model to restore. Wild Bill in Richmond VA

4 pointsJust picked up a 310-8 rear discharge with 201 hours. Tractor is in very good condition from the others I saw on FB Marketplace. Even the seat isn't cracked. Paid $600.00. I was initially looking for a larger tractor like a 520, but I came to my senses and realize that I always go bigger than I really need for my smaller yard. The only thing I needed to buy was a new air filter and PTO belt. I like the simplicity of a non-hydro drive and manual lift mower deck. I have owned Case-Ingersols in the past and currently have a Honda 5013 4x4 for snow blowing duties. The Wheel Horse did a great job of mowing on my first time using her.

4 pointsYou can even start by unplugging the bulbs. They can short when a filament breaks. Seen it more than once.

4 points@cafoose looks like fish food to me , they come in a variety of colors , and also winged . want to be sitting on / in the water in a pontoon kick boat , 4/5 wt flyrod and roll casting into the shadowy area close to shore . just sayin , pete

4 pointsI truly admire the folks in the world willing and able to preserve significant products from our industrial/commercial past. The research, time, talent, and treasure that go into it are significant and the results inform the rest of us in positive ways. Like many others here, though, I have my stuff to use it.

3 pointsThis is my latest project mounting this Sears sickle bar on a B100 . I had it mounted on a 854 a few years ago and it worked great. I bought a haban sickle bar and mounted it to a 312 for now I had to make some modifications but it's a much better set up than the Sears. Once I get this rig up and running it's going to get put up for sale. I still have to get a belt for it. I used a piece of string and looped it on all the pulleys and came up with a 102 in . Tomorrow I'm gonna try and get a belt.

3 pointsI scavenged some tires that hold air… and repurposed the CASE orange rear wheels for Justin! The rears might not stay on this tractor forever, or at least for the show… but they transport well being so skinny.

3 pointsHaving restored one 701 in 2013 and now completing my second 701, I can't disagree about "hardest to restore". I've been working on the second one for 5 years. The dash on @Sailman 701 does show typical cracks. If the dash needs to be replaced, the ones that @wheelhorsemanis making are much stronger.

3 pointsI appreciate your interest in holding it’s value, but why not enjoy it while you’re at it? The only tractors that seem sacred to me to keep original, are the Senior, Lever Steer and RJ35. Ironically, none of them are original, so that takes the pressure off! Last year at Portage, we purchased a full detail package from a lady here in MI at the auction. The stipulation is that the machine must be original paint. I am pretty sure I have no tractors needing detail that have original paint, so we are just holding the ticket for a rainy day and a survivor worth spit shining.

3 pointsI’d love to have a seat back like this (when I built the “seat riser” I made a provision for adding a back). However, I realize that it’d get in my way for my most frequent use--wnen I have the 36” mower on, there is no way to get close so I sit on the seat sideways and then swing my leg over (making sure to have the lift lever positioned FORWARD first.

2 pointsDownload the Demystification Guide and it will show the individual circuits. There is a green wire that goes thru the 9 pin engine connector that carries the headlight current, trace it both ways looking for a short.

2 points@Dreamcatcher on the horse I recently sold , the seat / frame / base set up was very wrong , the end of it was actually sitting on the top of the fender ! have seats similar to that , but not exact match . the lower you go on the seat base mount to fender , gives you more steering wheel clearance on legs , if you carefully look at a better mount point , its only amatter of drilling some holes . just kept making small gains , had some preforated steel angle , as my test gain point . that i did cut and fit for a much better set set up . experimenting is a regular thing for me , its very east to paint something red , you would never know . pete

Although allowed chickens are probably happening at the next (hopefully final) house. Thanks again for the inspiration @Pullstart. I have been appointed the safety coordinator in my field along with other responsibilities of course. You scare/excite me. No videos of me so nothing unsafe happens

2 pointsIs the plug wet after trying to start? I am thinking pump is "working" enough to spurt when line disconnected from carb but not enough to force through carb? As i mentioned before my C105 hated to start until i put marine bulb in line. Two pumps and it fires in a second... Just a thought...

2 pointsWe have been eating lots of asparagus, scallions, spinach, arugula and lettuce. Peas are filling pods and broccoli is starting to form. Rabbits ate my green beans so replanting in pots now. Tomatoes are starting to flower as are peppers.

2 pointsLook at the shaft where the seal rides closely. Is there a slight worn ring or depression where the old seal wore into the shaft. if there is you can try to smooth it with fine emery cloth. But some tmes you just need a replacement shaft.
