Mowed with this one yesterday, was going to sell it last fall but after mowing yesterday I think I’ve fallen in love with it again 🙄 Thinning the herd is so difficult

The end is in sight!!! Zach has worked tirelessly on his tractor in between our travels, school assignments, and life distractions—he has begun to see the reward for his labor! Last Saturday we collected the heart of the beast from “Davy Jones’ Locker” (a little pirate 🏴‍☠️ humor😉) and set it back into the frame. Zach worked with his Christmas tools resembling the beautiful sheet metal. Look at the shine in that side panel. It had to be redone a couple of times because of runs but the finished result is sweet! At this point, we have a little electrical to hook up and new decals from @Vinylguy and I think Blackbeard is ready to set sail again! This kid is as happy as a clam and so am I! It really was a privilege to spend so much time with him in the shop seeing this project come to fruition! This is a fun addition—our tractor never has had the original center cap since we have owned it. While we were in Savannah Georgia a couple of years ago for our missions travels, we were in a souvenir store and they had these reproduction “pieces of eight”—pirates booty! Perfect center piece for Blackbeard! I found a PVC pipe cap at the local box store, Zach painted it Semi gloss black, and we used RTV black to seal it to the wheel and secure the piece of eight! Arrrrrrrrrr me maties

But what would the lawn look like with that much liquid refreshment available. After all you would certainly want to empty it by the time the lawn was finished. Waste not, want not

Started working on finishing my dump cart trailer, only thing I was missing was a tailgate! So tossing one together so can haul around dirt and loose items without the worry of having them fall out. Don't have any sheet steel left so got to go get some to cover the tailgate and iron out the latching mechanics but it's a good start.

So another 2 cy’s of screened topsoil to fill in beside the new driveway. 6 cy’s in so far. I had a low area almost all the way up the left side going towards the road. It would always be uneven when I cut the weeds.😆 After that I cut the weeds…

It's your tractor do what you want with it. Many other people have. All red becomes a bit too much, it's nice to break it up a bit. That's my feeling anyway.

Looks good Newbie! After helping my son with his fence, got back to work on the shop. I know have 98% of a roof. After the rain’s finished tomorrow, I’ll finish the last panel and get the end trim and front cap on it. Weather gets me every time.

I got me a couple of these magnetic ones, stick anywhere on tractor. One arm gets tired doing all the drinking? Switch it to the other side, make the other arm do all the work. Works good for me. But I have commitment issues so I like not having to mount it permanently

So is the noise still there when you run it with the belt guard on?

Not sure those paws are readily available on the open market.

Well. So here's the thing. 😁 IMHO the Wheelhorse tractor is a Pinnacle machine. Absolute Apex. But.... It's too much red for me. My Honey/BBT/The Paint Department/Trina and I have done 4 full frame off restorations now. None are stock colors. Two are a slightly brighter red with the standard off-white as a trim and engine color. One is my Cinnamon Horse. The last is her Military Tribute Tractor, Millie. Pics of mine: This a before n after of her first restoration. 657 named Pony. Here's the Military Tribute as it was built 2 years ago. We're just finishing up it's 2nd full restoration this weekend. Engine, transmission and several other things being swapped out or refreshed.

You could think like Red & Green and duct tape a styrofoam cooler to the hood. After a 6 pack or two you won't care what the yard looks like. Remember at a few too many my neighbor found out that Wheel Horses can climb trees. He only had one tree in the yard.

I have replaced the the plastic pivot bearing with a brass bushing where the tensioner arm pivots.Not a hard job just drill out and insert a flanged brass bushing, I bought from McMaster Carr

Ouch boy's..... I know your just razzing me.... but (a) I'm not a thief. (b) home projects are after hours. Materials used.... you buy from the shop. So, we will leave it at that.... I don't know about you guy's but I'm also "cheap" when it comes to buying parts, but I also would pay good money for new parts with quality. Used shafts are ok provided you are not buying someone else's problems like egged out keyways or the shaft seal area wore out. (Still working on the pics)

Mike, I went from about 35 down to 14. As of last week back up to 15🤷. I get thinning the heard as being hard to do.

Now that is not something you hear everyday... come to think of it... never heard that said before...

That is a wooden ornament I made based off the wheelhorse logo.

Huskee was a Tractor Supply battery. I think they switched to Interstate.

Agreeing with comments that the “elbow” joint in the tensioner is gonna rattle. The area I had to fix on one machine was the cross-shaft that holds the tensioner pulley arm. It had wallowed in the frame AND worn the shaft (more on the right but also on the left). The resulting slight misalignment of the tensioner pulley then just made things worse. The frame got bushing-ed (?) but I had to get a good used unworn cross shaft. Finally realized that the small “bounce” of the belt against the spring from the normal variations in belt flex plus jouncing of the machine causes lots of friction in that small area. High frequency, varying pressure, and small displacement--a real challenge for bearing surfaces.

Not only not native to MO, they’re not native to any part of the USA. They’ve been imported as game birds but can thrive in the prairie states of IL, IA, NE, SD, et al. They show up around here every once in a while. I also see them frequently where I go fishing as the state stocks them for hunting in the surrounding parks. Those raised in captivity for release and those that are born in the wild have strikingly different behavior. It’s nearly impossible to get close to the wary, wild ones but many of the released birds just sit there when you walk up on them. Beautiful creatures regardless. Steve

If you've got a "roaster" or other Round Hood, what Eric showed is probably your only option. Or, nothing at all, the 1 gallon tank of fuel does not last that long !!

On that tension lever the pivot pin wears down and also wallows the hole it fits in. Check that too

No kidding Mike!!! I am in that process but I feel like the guy you see in the movies that is forced to cut off part of one of his own fingers…it’s easy to think of a lot of reasons why you want to keep each one!😅😁😉

The Pilot Wheelhorse tugger is all legal and registered up. Trina applied the Fluid Film. The vehicle side trailer harness plug was melted. I got a replacement including about 10" of wire. Fixed that this evening. She's already gone n got a set-up started for camping gear.

Started disassembly of a Sherman Step Up auxiliary transmission for Tasha’s Ford, got a lot of parts to clean and inspect tomorrow, if everything checks out good then we will order all new bearings and seals to proceed with the rebuild Fully disassembled the main transmission as well, I cleaned the top of my box off yesterday, sure didn’t take long to fill it up with another pile of parts

A non-running parts tractor that has been sitting outside and has a questionable past is a real crapshoot. Without firsthand knowledge of its condition and if it isn't close by so a road trip is called for I would value it at $ 50. If it close by I would go take a look for sure and aske the seller for a price before going any further. Bring along a good charged battery or jumper pack and see it the engine will turn over with compression. If it turns then check for spark and give it a shot of carburetor cleaner, Might fire, might not. Don't get it running before agreeing on a price or you have just become his free mechanic.

Rainy and nasty here today. Just to say I did something, I wire brushed and painted my front wheel weights to go on the repowered 310-8.
