Getting some work done today with the help of my wheel horse B80 Twaakta ! Had to use some pieces of concrete to get traction but After that she pulled this concrete foundation right on out ! Of course I didn’t have to do it this way,but what’s the fun in not using your WH

Would just like to give a shout out to a class act guy. Pullstart. I was looking for a hard to find front muffler through this forum and he contacted me to let me know he might have one. Just had to look for it. After a few days he let me know he found it. Gharged me a VERY reasonable price, not the ridiculous prices out there. Just a guy out to help a newbie and not get rich from it.Fortunately we don’t live to far from another and we’re able to meet up. A very nice man. Hope to get to know him better. Thanks again Pullstart.

@Wheelhorse#1 Is that dirt I see on that nice original highback seat? That seat should be in a Museum, not under your dirty cement draggin" butt. P.S. I've got one I'll trade ya for it.

After working on disassembly some more Trina spent a bit of time on cleaning the engine block. She sanded all the surfaces of the breather plates and installed that using new gaskets. Then the block was attacked with copious amounts of acetone. Between the two of us we were able to recut the threads in the exhaust. They were REALLY filled with carbon. Only the last two outer threads were open. All better now. I got one of the two 6 speed transmissions taken apart. We'll combine the two we have to make a good one for this tractor then get better gears for the next build. Even the world famous "Hoobie Doobie" balls made an appearance!

I've tried cordless tools from all of the major manufacturers, and Milwaukee beats them all every time in my opinion. I've got a mixture of M18 and M12 both and love them all. I was a fan of the old DeWalt 18V platform for a long time, bought one of their 20V 1/2" impacts and was not impressed...switched to Milwaukee M18 and haven't looked back. The DeWalt experience turned me off on cordless impact wrenches for a long time, but last week my old faithful Ingersoll Rand air gun finally bit the dirt, figured I'd give cordless another shot. Picked up the M18 High Torque kit #2767-22R. Ordered it through Home Depot and got an extra 5.0AH battery for free. Been using it all day and this thing is a beast. Way more impact than you would need for small projects, but if you're like me and work on heavier duty stuff I highly recommend looking at this one.

This one is very interesting and looks like it belongs in the woods of Maine but obviously done by someone WAY above my pay grade. Search images of "Garden bridge" for some ideas or DIY garden bridge

I was fortunate to score carlisle turf tires for 7.99 each at TSC today, normally 79.99. I’m wishing I would have gone sooner to get tires for more tractors.

New item now available ! For years, Wheel Horse / Toro offered a spacer (discontinued) that could be added to the rear axle bracket which lowered the bracket thus allowing an extra 2"-3" in raised height at the front of the plow. We have incorporated that thinking into our new design : high lift 104659 axle brackets ! A full 1" difference between a stock axle bracket and ours, allowing an additional 2"-3" in raised height , perfect for when a little extra is needed on and off the trailer, up the ramps, in and out of the shed, or when moving piles of snow or dirt. Price is $60.00 plus shipping / continental US only. All hardware and brackets included. Stock 104659 axle brackets are also available.

You may want to pull the shifter and look inside for old, bad oil or some rust on the shift rails. If all looks good, dump about a cup of Lucas Oil Treatment (The Trans treatment) through the shift hole and see if that helps. I'll bet it does.

There is a fellow who I've seen at a few local shows that has a very impressive collection of Eddleman mowers. He can sit down and give you a history lesson on each one.

Picked up a bastardized 856 at auction. Bought it for the HL-5 head lights. Engine is not original. Air shroud showed a K161 but I pulled the head and measured the stroke it is a K181 and the bore looked good and she ran a bit on carb cleaner. Got to thinking I have a refreshed K301 with no home. Should fit under the hood but it is a bendix start which interferes with battery box. I see two avenues of approach. One is to put a motor cycle battery under the seat the other to get brackets and a flywheel pulley and convert it to S/G. (I have a generator). What do you all lthink I should do...I really have no specific use in mind for her.... I have enough WHs????

Well, I got the engines swapped today. I hate to pull the Magnum, but it's gonna need some work. Yesterday I made a new engine mount adapter for the Vanguard so it bolts right into the factory frame mount holes. So the Vanguard is now mounted up (after a bath). I'll take care of the electrical connections tomorrow. The ignition type is the same, so it's pretty simple. I had ordered a new seat for it, but they shipped a completely different one, so I have to send it back.

@Achto responding to your multiweight oil learning curve, when tried a 10-30 oil noticed the slower warm up , some smoke , when using a 5-30 oil , there was zero effect to the cold start , oil heat up was quicker and , no effect at all to it converting to the heavier 30 wt rating . was using castrol , magnatec oil . engines really like it over winter , cold starts . have often experimented with many lubricants , and regularly check them for effects , how they are doing . my testing with the lucas 80-90 climbing gear lube is very good , hours and road miles on it . like the sticky clinging lubricant effects , easier shifting , using every gear / range . quieter too. did all 3 of mine , always experimenting with function , another thing with oils , is getting them hot to work , very important in cold weather , oils look more stable and effective . just my experience , pete

@Pullstart and I are kinda fans of Milwaukee crap too. Me pretty much cause my company paid for them. Bend me over for what they get for their oem batteries is what irks me ... no lube used...paid less for the whole tool. I suppose Dewalt or other brands the same tho. One doesn't buy the cheap knock offs heard tell they blow up in the charger.

Thank you all for helping me through this whole project. Especially @Pullstart and @Tonytoro416! It went into school yesterday and now is on display. When it comes home I will be using it to plow the garden. If anyone wants to have a plow day that would be fun!!

It's calving time - 700 calfs to pick up into a wheelbarrow and then move to various sheds. Back breaking and they are covered in slime so incredibly difficult to lift. Decided a solution was required whereby we had a low wheelbarrow to slide them into. Used an old 4 wheel cart and a 200ltr plastic drum. Took a day of head scratching, bad welding and a splash of paint. It works an absolute treat! As the calving is often in the early hours, I added a spare wheel. That way if you get a flat at 3am when your half asleep it's an easy job to quickly change the wheel.

You would not be sorry Plunge. I got a set right off and they are on more than the bucket. I have a set of clamp on's for the 520 FEL but light stuff only... too much weight out too far loosens up the rear.

Funny you should say that. The last big snow storm snapped the top off of a large hemlock right at the brook. There are plenty of those out there and not really good for much other than the whitetails like to bed down under them in the snow. My next attachment for the JD this year is going to be a set of 48'' front forks. That will help placing those hemlocks across the brook. May have to put that on the list

Back in the early 90's when I had a large garden I used my Farmall Super A with a moldboard plow followed by a disc harrow and finished it up using a long railroad tie as a drag to smooth it all out, worked great. @Rob R

I see them around here also lined up in front of the stores for a $2600.00 average price. I really don't think they sell that many and eventually they go back into stock. One looks at the same lineup all Summer and never really sees anyone taking one,or even looking at them. For the person who buys one around here and is not fortunate enough to be resourceful and mechanically inclined, the future of such machine is decided in not too many years sometimes only a couple as it is evidenced by the ones seen all rusty and abandoned on the back of properties as the professional landscapers do their lawns. Most who buy one do not even own a trailer to transport it. It will cost you $150.00 for the shop to pick it up (and not many do that) and another$150.00 to bring it back. Its again another $150.00 for them to look at it and give you an estimate. One is already $500.00 into it with nothing being done to correct actual problem. Many never make it back home already abandoned at the repair shop when the estimate is given. One only needs to observe how many used ones they are selling themselves. These people don't even change the oil on them. Soon after the thrill of riding around in a new tractor mowing the lawn while sipping a drink is exhausted, the fate of that shiny gaudy tractor is sealed. I only have to look across the street and to the sides to substantiate what I just mentioned. I get not only comments but also people driving by stopping to ask me about my old tractors. When they are close to them and find out how old they really are, one just sees mouths open and wide open eyes in disbelief. Even the landscapers hold little meetings around them. Those guys however are pretty observant and notice things like the welded thick steel frames, old Kohler engines and even original tires.

Here is my walk behind mower used for ditches and banks. I have two one not operable right now, but it can be fixed. This is the other one. 1964 Eddleman built local It was rusting away a couple of years ago when I bought it for $200. Cast aluminum base, steel transmission with brass gears, chain drive with clutch. Will I cleaned it up greased the bearings, new tires on the back and new blade. Good for another 50 years. I don't used the cart as my lawn is not level and I didn't ever have brakes, but I fixed it anyway, I know a little about them I assembled them one summer back in 1962.

While striping the paint off from my gas tank today I noticed that there was a lot of flaking paint on it. This is never a good sign as that usually means that there is a leak some place. Really made me wonder because the inside of the tank looks like brand new. After getting the paint off I found history of a JB Weld repair. Sorry but as this tank showed, JB weld is usually not a long term tank repair. After cleaning things up completely it looks like the seam either rubbed through on something or someone hit it with a grinder. I silver solder the seam, spread a baking soda past on it and put some gas in to see if I had the leak fixed. It was fixed but noticed a leak around the petcock plate. Gas was leaking around one of the rivets. Dump the gas out, clean the area well, and silver solder the rivets. Put gas back in and it has been sitting for 4hrs now with no leaks. My solder job ain't real pretty but it's holding.

I need to clear something up on this...the carb wasn't the problem. This morning, after 2" of rain overnight, the onan would only run on 1 lung. Compression still 130 both sides, getting fuel, tried a new plug...but the problem was no spark. Tried a different plug wire...nada. i put in my spare coil...and just like that all the problems went away. What i felt was overfueling was actually spark blowout. 1 side of the coil was failing, and getting doused in water made the problem worse. As ive said before, if getting wet causes a problem, you already had a problem.
