8 pointsAbout 10-15 years ago I was driving down the road and saw a gentleman mowing with a C-81. I knew he was relatively new to the area so of course I stopped to introduce myself and ask him about his tractor. Well don’t you know that even though he’s old enough to be my dad we became good friends. A couple of years ago he bought a new green tractor because it was easier to for him and his wife to get on and off. Well the C-81 was just sitting for a few years so he called me recently and said he wanted me to have it! It definitely needs some love but now it’s home in the Wheel Horse hospital (that’s what my friend calls it!) I’m going to repair whatever is necessary, then do a complete service on it. After that will be a light sanding and a @peter lena bath in WD-40 or whatever he recommends.

8 pointsGot the 856 " Forsaken " out for a spin today. Spring time it's going to need a new battery. The one in it has a sticker from 2016 on it. Won't hold a charge anymore.

6 pointsTook the C-121 out after two and a half years of hibernation. I must have totally ran it out of gas back then because I put a fresh battery and gas in it, took the air cleaner off, sprayed a little gas in the carburetor with a spray bottle and it fired up instantly! Next it was time for a bath. Soon I will be replacing the axle seal. It’s also the first tractor I got signed by the man himself Cecil Pond!

I did upgrade to brighter lights Second is a metal sign made to be screwed to the wall. I made a shadow box style enclosure for it and put lights behind it

5 pointsNothing earth shattering here but I tend to cut my own gaskets at times and the long straight edges are one thing but the bolt holes are another story. I cut a gasket for a fuel pump this morning and considered drilling the 1/4" holes but they always end up being shaggy and a bit of a pain to do. I looked around the shop and considered several thing and landed on filing the teeth from a tool chest key and using it like a cigar punch. One or two hits on a hard surface works pretty well

5 pointsRemove the set screws in the side of the pulley, sometimes 2 screws, one on top of the other. Sometimes 2 set screw holes, i.e. 12 o' clock & 3 o'clock.... Spray down with penetrating oil in the screw holes & crank. Hook up a puller & remove.

5 points@Pullstart mine was a metal sign that my niece cut for me and I painted.I had that on the mash pole in 2018. I made this sign that will go in a light box.

5 pointsCouple wks ago I walked out with a huge grin on -- went there for welding rods and despite staying 30-40 mins I left with only the rods!!! Think that was a first! That gasket punch set is worth twice the cost, super handy tool......

4 pointsNot today but yesterday... got my first SSI check and promised the gang I would make them prime rib when I did. We all went out to eat for new years and many of them had PR which was less than show. I took pity on them, I had surf n turf and told them a supper club can't do what I do. I told @Achto he sliced it a bit thin ... I usually slice in 2 - 3 inch chunks. Not enough room at the table for everyone so Massey Jason & wife ...the newlyweds got the "love" table... kinda like putting them up in the love shack @JCM...

4 pointsTore down a 1276 parts tractor. Anybody see anything they need speak now or forever hold yer peace. Tore into the motor and the boys measured it up. Within std. specs but some weird cross hatching. Will get cleaned up, honed and new rings & paint and on the shelf for a ready spare or project. We think this might have been a service motor at one time. I.D. plate is MIA. Drilled out the pully set screws and came off no problem @Achto From the we seen it all files. Hubs are savable tho with new keyway. Axles good yet too!

3 pointsSorry Dav... yer screwed... and it's only gonna get worse. Dry rot knows no bounds. Only thing I can suggest it run them with only a couple of psi. The good news is those tires can be had. New depending on the weather, Miller Tire comes to mind. Some of the fellas have decent used ones tho. You make the pilgrimage to the BS you gotta a good chance of finding some.

3 pointsFinally got the front shoes for the 165 yesterday too They broke their tire machine last week when they tried to mount these so I had to wait until they got parts in for that. New bearings are in and I'll get them put on tomorrow.

3 pointsI’ve been rebuild these old engines for decades. If you want to do it correctly then sleeve the cylinder. Anything else is a half smacked job. I sleeve about two per month. It’s not a big deal.

3 pointsSoooo…went into the woods for a cruise with the B-80 and figured I would snap a side shot for this thread (and apparently a few front end Friday shots as well). Unfortunately deep in the woods I had a front tire failure, as in IT FELL OFF! Of course I had no tools so had to walk back home for a couple tools and a rag. Luckily Mother Nature left a jack-stand close by. Quick repair and she drove back home without an issue. I do need to look for front spindles with the bolt rather than that little clip

3 pointsHydraulic control valve cleaned up and new O rings installed. Hoses have been cleaned up with new O rings as well. That is where I am at right now. Engine has been cleaned up and had the decarbon, valves adjusted etc last year and it is ready to go back in when I am ready for it.

2 pointsI know just how it is. When I built Project Snowdrift the "screw drive tractor" I had higher expectations for it. It's still on the back burner. The Snowmotractor will have its day I'm sure. It was good to see it up and moving again though.
