10 pointsHello All... I bought this beater last year at show with pink primer tins, no decals a wiped out knocking smoking Kohler K and started making improvements. Dropped in a Mag 10 and so on, it's become one of my favorite workers. I decided I wanted a stack for no reason, cobbled together some parts I had and now it's got "duel mufflers" lol. It's actually super quiet. Happy Memorial Day Tony 20220530_113037.mp4

8 pointsI woke my Cockshutt 20 Deluxe up from it's long winters nap. She was a little argumentative about being woke up but after a little carb cleaning and some new lubricating fluids she purred like a kitten. Gave it a bath & went for about a 5 mile cruise. This was the last tractor that my dad & I restored together, there was some good memories rolling through my head while on my cruise. She should be all ready for this years show season. I bet @oliver2-44 would like this tractor, it's kind of in the Oliver family.

6 pointsThe fuel lines are probably hard and brittle. Change the fuel lines and that primer bulb if it's getting hard. Even time will make those hard, not just ethanol.

6 pointsSooo...Dugs gettin a workout with a supporting role performed by a machine of the *cough *sputter* green/yellow variety. Removed 3 good size bits of hedgebush and relocated. Leveled to within about 1/2in the 15ft circle for the pool. And cut in a new access from mom and dads property to make it easier for them and the grandkids to wander, or ride this way. Dug got a carberator adjustment, and a new fine tunable hydraulic pump tensioning system! The bolt that was there had bugun rattling loose.

5 pointsA little late but. Dug the workhorse out to give it a bath today.

5 pointsMy boat trailer had no brakes. Just a hub with 2 bearings and a seal. The only place for the grease to go is completely through both of the bearings and out the seal on the other side. (The same side and place water can get in ) Super quick and easy to give it a couple of pumps every once in a while. The spring loaded action of the button continues to push grease through slowly the whole time it's being towed and let's you know when to give a pump. Used correctly on SMALL BOAT trailers they work very well. Had them on there for over 10 years and never had a problem and never changed a bearing, neither does my friend that has it now. Lazy people like me that know what they're doing can use them for their intended use. Stupid people that don't know anything aren't going to be able to grease pack a bearing anyway and if you're stupid enough to put them on where they don't belong (Like the pic above), good luck!. I'm guessing Squonk's brother never bothered to ever pump any grease in his. The bearing buddy doesn't automatically supply a lifetime of grease to the bearings and eventually it just becomes another dust cover like any other dust cover. It's certainly not the bearing buddies fault the guy drove it until the wheel fell off. Boat trailers that launch frequently need much more frequent attention to that inner bearing than dry run trailers do.

5 pointsWTF? We need to hear the 'back story' on that one Doc! Someone is taking "Greasy Pete" to heart I think ! I bet even Pete would say that's a bit too much "Red N Tacky" ! @peter lena

4 pointsI haven't tried to rebuild a Tecumseh pump yet. It's possible Lincoln at A to Z Tractor in PA may have one. There are a few folks changing over to using Facet electric pumps. That could be a good alternative.

4 pointsBearing buddies are a wheel bearing salesman's best friend! My brother who is not mechanically inclined had a boat that he took out to his cottage every weekend. I asked him one Christmas if he ever had his trailer bearings re-packed. He said no need because he had bearing buddies on it. I told him he would be calling me at some point. That spring first time out, when he went to back into his driveway, one of the trailer wheels fell off! Ruined the spindle and everything. From then on every fall I would find 2 trailer hubs by my door to the garage for me to clean and repack.

3 pointsLooks to be a black snake or black racer. I saw a black snake that was aggresive about a month ago. He was in a field and I walked up on it. Raised its head and struck at me from about 6-8 feet. I thought that was peculiar behavior for one since most I see are trying their best to get away.

3 pointsSOLD! I have two tractors that I’m ok with selling. If I decide to list other machines, I’ll update this post. Well, maybe not. But I could use the space and have the room to haul to the big show. I ONLY HAVE ROOM FOR ONE OF THESE. IF ONE SELLS, THE OTHER IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE FOR HAULING TO THE BIG SHOW. 1966 1056, with a later model 300 series muffler. Runs good with no smoke, I’ve never retired it and the light circuit doesn’t currently work. My guess is the wire got shorted and that’s where it stayed for the PO and for me. It had 6” wheels but I swapped them for some 8” wheels and I believe it still has the 6” (taller) spindles. The fronts are tubed and the rears have plastic weights and 4 link chains with cross bars. The seat is comfy but torn as shown. 6 speed transmission with no apparent leaks. The throttle knob pulled off (the cable is very sticky) and I have the steering wheel center but haven’t glued it back on. I bent the PTO rod for clearance with the FEL previously mounted, but might be able to find a better one if interested. Asking $450 Work Horse GT-1642 with Briggs Twin 16. Runs good, may need a fuel system cleaning but honestly I don’t recall. I’ve had it running with a borrowed battery and can’t even say if I’be driven it. Good replacement seat with no tears. 1” axle 8 speed transmission with no apparent leaks. Needs a battery. Some apparent overspray/touch up with grey. Asking $300 AS MENTIONED, I ONLY HAVE ROOM FOR ONE MACHINE. IF I SELL ONE BEFORE THE SHOW, THE OTHER IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE.

3 pointsA week ago last Friday, I got our pontoon out of storage. They had removed the shrink wrap and lake tested it. It was fairly clean. I parked it in our yard under our many oak trees. The trees were in bloom, dropping pollen and blossoms. So today, I went to put the pontoon in the lake. It was a mess. I got Morgan out to move the pontoon over to the wash bay (side yard) so I could clean it up, then drag it out to the road to hook the truck up to it for the trip to the boat ramp. While backing the trailer down the boat ramp, my wife asks why I don't just use the Wheel Horse to do this? I'probably have to get all 4 of the wheels on Morgan (my 14-8) to get the trailer far enough to float the pontoon off. I don't think I'd have enough weight or traction to get everything back out of the lake, or even possibly to keep everything from getting too far into the lake!

3 pointsYou folks tired of looking at my 1075 yet ??? Sorry I can't help it.

3 pointsMoe - I have had MARGINAL success reinserting the ball stud, with grease, and re-crimping the socket at the factory marks with a chisel in a 20 ton press. Marginal for 2 reasons - if you go too far, the joint will not move - game over. If you get a successful crimp, it only buys you borrowed time. IF you replace it with another OE part, remember this phrase from my old racing days - "The OE replacement parts are only as good as the parts they replace".

3 pointsLowell makes good ones that have replaceable ends. https://wheelhorsepartsandmore.com/product/toro-wheel-horse-tie-rod-78-2900-78-290001-longer-length-with-replaceable-ends-with-nuts/

3 pointsI would install an internally resisted automotive coil (Napa IC14 or equivalent) a switch for battery ignition ( Cole Hersee 95521-B) and probably a new set of points as you saw smoke come out of the points cover. I am not sure if anything else would need to be done.
-
3 pointsFor sure, with my daughters and DIL helping her. Sheesh, talk about taking your life in your hands!?

3 pointsGot most everything mounted on the truck today. Still need to get tools out of storage boxes and back on it, change the oil in the Miller and run a battery cable from the truck battery back to the welder, but it's coming together nicely so far

3 pointsI had a customer with flat head Fords. He hated using antifreeze because when he got a leak it would spay all over the windshield ect. Any way he would go through water pumps like nobody's business. They would seize up. And those engines took 2. So I ended up selling him new pumps with a lifetime warranty instead of the rebuilts he was buying. That's when I found out he was running just water. I found him a case of water pump lubricant from somewhere on the east coast. Box it came in had about 2 inches of dust on it. He was a happy flat head after that

2 pointsthanks. I don’t like snakes, but I don’t like mice or rats either. So I do my best to let the snakes patrol my yard and enjoy themselves. All last summer I kept seeing the same big garter snake when I’d be out piddling. He was a few feet long and larger diameter than any I’d seen before. He’d always startle me, but once that was over I enjoyed watching him do his thing. one afternoon i was cutting grass and saw him take off into the neighbor’s yard. Ten minutes later I saw the neighbor carrying my now headless snake out into the field on a rake. It was kind of sad. As I mentioned we have a bit of a safe haven here. This was just one I’d not seen before. I’m hoping he doesn’t come back but I suspect whatever drew him here will continue to do so. Steve

2 pointsI had 2 Grandfathers and 1 Step-Grandfather...all 3 were in the Army, 2 during WWI and WWII, the 3rd during WWII. I have their Medals and Ribbons. They all made it back, but they never talked about what they experienced. My Uncle Joe and Uncle Wally did Korea...they both cam back and never talked about it. My brother Mike and I did 4 years in the Navy during the Viet Nam Conflict. We both survived, but do not talk about it either. I can't tell you how many Classmates from 1967 I lost to the Viet Nam War. We had a class of over 600, we lost a good share. I know, sometimes, it takes drinking with some one that has been there before they will talk about it. I look at that as some kind of therapy. My point...it rubs me wrong when some one says..."Happy Memorial Day". This Day is to Remember those that have Fallen. They are those that made it possible for some one to say..."Happy Memorial Day."
-
2 pointsLook up "bearing buddies" on google..Google... they are bearing caps with grease zerks so you can show your bearings some love by giving them a pump or two now and then
