In another thread, @kpinnc mentioned talking to himself. I thought I was only guilty of that. I seldom have the TV on, and only occasionally listen to a You Tube video, so it's generally pretty quiet in my garage, except for me, talking to myself. I find that most of the talking I do is in the form of a question. It doesn't really matter if I am in my garage or where I am actually. I got to thinking this morning about the things I ask myself, sometimes on a daily basis. Here are some questions I would bet most of us have asked ourselves, more than once, rather spoken out loud or not. In my case, it's usually out loud. Feel free to ad your own. I can’t be out of gas, can I ? Why do I always wrap Teflon tape in the wrong direction? Did I re-check those timing marks? I made a list, where’d I put it? Do you really think you are going to find that little BB you dropped from that Kohler carb? What time was I suppose to put that roast in? Do I already have that tool, somewhere? Where did THAT dent come from? After cleaning your paint gun. Aw D**** Where did that piece come from? Did my kid borrow that? Oh S**t Did anyone see that? Where did I park? Why did I do that? I knew that was gonna hurt ! CRAP.....How fast was I going? How’d THAT work out for ya ? Did I Say that out loud ? Why did I walk over here? What day is it ? There are many more, but these come to mind.

So that is why I spend so much time here. Might also be why my friend gave me this for Christmas. Some times it takes more than a whisper to get them to do what you want though.

It’s when you carry on full blown conversations with yourself(s) that you’ve truly arrived… Of course, it’s when you talk with your ‘s and they don’t answer that you need the professional assistance given only here on Redsquare…

Lol as I get older I seem to talk to myself more and more. Usually when I cant find something. Apparently saying out loud the thing your looking fir helps the eyes and brain to pick it out. I've done it before when looking for some tool or other, missed it after several passes and then spot it as soon as I start saying "tape measure, tape measure..." By the way why is it tape measures become invisible on the job site? No matter how bright they are they blend in perfectly as if camouflaged.

Hardly ever seen and I wonder why? But I needed one especially while cleaning the snow the city plows keep pushing on my cleared off driveway. At my age it's hard to turn around and with a one piece survival suit it's impossible. So without further ado, my rear view mirror...Ta da! It sits high to look over my shoulder but I would like to get a bigger rectangle one and return this one back to my bike

I was alone in the workshop one day and said something to myself. Nearly had a heart attack when I got a reply and not from me. Number 3 grandson had crept up behind me with a big grin on his face.

I like talking to myself. When I’m in my own little world I know everyone there, and everyone knows me. It’s great not being bothered by strangers for a while, he-heeeeeee.🤪

I don’t think most people take much notice of someone “Apparently” talking to themselves nowadays, they just assume they have their ear pieces in, and are “On the 🐶&🦴 (phone)”!

Yeah I talk to myself all the time ...I'm the only one that will listen. Her: Who were you talking to out there? Me: The sno blower. Her: What were you telling it? Me: I was telling the Onan to get on the guv. Her: Well you were talking to it quite abit. Me: Yeah well I was telling the deuce to bring all weapons to bear on that drift too. Her: Thought I heard you singing too. It was quite loud heard you right through the cab. Me: It was a song about its five o'clock somewhere and toes in the sand. Her: You ain't right.

I just want to know if anyone is listening when you re talking to yourself?

It seems I plan a project or a to-do better when it’s heard. I often think of a plan, say it aloud, respond to myself, agree with the other guy and proceed. The girls have a fort on a couch in a corner of the racking in the back barn. Often times the last thing I say is “Hey, I didn’t know you girls were up there!” After I hear a chorus of giggles!

I'd like to say I'm talking to the smartest fella I know, but typically it's more like "that dude is crazy, so he always makes me laugh"

I'm guilty your honor ... honest I dont mean to do it, I dont even realize I'm doing it Couple my most common ---- Now where the h*** is that 7/16 box end, I JUST had it!!! Or, where did that 'E' clip go to ---- 30 minutes later I' going to TSC to get another one ... Next day I find it! A couple other ones that turned out to NOT be my fault. My son and I were doing a head gasket on a Datsun (Yes, Datsun, not Nissan) and on reassemble no radiator cap. Another was I was using a slim 'electricians' screwdriver doing ... something? next morning could not find it. Some several years later I was modifying my 'scrap pieces' of mixed wood rack and moved the whole thing and underneath it were .... a radiator cap and the screwdriver, along with a handful of nuts, bolt ,etc ------- PACK RAT!!

Haha, I always talk to my Horses. I always say goodmorning to the Horses when I enter the garage. When we have done some work I always say well done, and give them pat on the hood. And some evening I go back out wising them a good night. Oh well, It's my passion so it's allowed.

I think those are my most common statements. On the subject of items gone missing (tape measures) in the workshop, when I first started working as an engineer, there was an old semi retired engineer that had his own workshop in the product development area where he would come in and tinker on various projects a few days a week. He had a theory that misplaced items actually slide into another dimension that is orthogonal to those that we humans can sense. In effect, the object was still there, but edge on to us, making it invisible. He discovered that taking a Polorid picture would make the missing item reappear.

Don't I know it ? But it's not always their fault. Sometimes crazy people ask them to do dumb things.

I have a running dialog: "Where did you put that dummy!" ( Usually a bit more colorful)

I considered the vibes issue and pretty much controled it. I bolted the tube on both sides of the bend and sure there is some vibrations but now I can see if cars are approaching me. I took it for a test drive and was even able the ID the make of car coming at me. Crazy drivers on my road, they will move over if they see my car at the end of the drive, but won't pull over when I am working roadside. I removed the color so my fine textured painted top of the hood could be appreciated and not the mismatched reds.

I believe you have the correct plow frames for your tractors, but there are several different blade angle levers. Sometimes you have to modify to fit. On my 312H I had to flip the lever around and insert a spacer to get it to clear everythig. On my 520H, I wanted the lever inside the cab. I don't like cold. So I cut bent and welded.

I'm usually asking myself questions and expecting expert advice....

Figured I will get some responses with that title. Have had her from birth, not a days problem and still going strong. Showing her age but so am I. Was my first and was a great investment next to my wife, ( however wife has been more expensive) . Just some current pictures from our last snowstorm in the mountains of western Pa, 12 to 14 inches. It's been awhile since we had this much fun with this much snow, used to be very normal snowfall for January around here. Yes and yes. Just remember that you've got a 700 series Eaton, so the oil in the "pump" (transmission) is separate from the transaxle (gearbox). You'll need to drain and change both. Take special care not to introduce any dirt or grime into the pump. One grain of dirt and it's all over. Think surgical clean.

Finally found a muffler that is quiet enough for me. It's a Walker 22229. Sure isn't the cutest puppy in the basket, but she does the job.

NO pictures, but a friend of mine added a small winch to the front of his tractor to raise & lower the plow. Much like what is used on an ATV plow.

30" inches would be just about right. Wouldn't need much wing on either side, and I'm guessing it might weigh less than these 2 Lawn Boys. If your are going to unload it, you may as well unload it in Illinois.

Best gripping tires are going to be the 23degree tread on the Firestone's. Carlisle True Power's running second. The DeeStones are the best bang for the buck but they tend to run small. A 10.50 wide DeeStone is more on the lines of a 9.50.

My Dad has a 79 C101. I have spent many hours plowing and mowing with the old girl. They are bulletproof!

Watch it closely at the rod connection where the problem is as someone moves the blade back and forth and look for whatever or if anything is forcing the rod end out of the hole or contacting the pin. Bending a hairpin "open" is something directly contacting the pin. The only thing in contact with the pin should be the washer and the hole in the rod. Is it being moved when the blade is down and engaged with the ground? I'm guessing the pin could be hitting the ground when driving over rough terrain. It is located pretty close to the ground. If it's not from hitting the ground then something isn't right if it continues to push pins off or bend them open. The forces involved for indexing the blade are minimal compared to what a washer and pin are capable of holding. All the force on the rod should be fore and aft and minimal push or pull of the rod end out of the hole. Which end are you having trouble with? At the handle or under the index sector? Does the blade itself swivel full motion side to side easily without the rod connected? Has anything been modified like a new handle or homemade rod or anything? How about a pic of it set up on the tractor? Or better yet a short video of it indexing back and forth.

Thank you. Screen time very restricted in their household. No regular TV whatsoever, only very carefully chosen programs from streaming services at specified times. No computer screen unless constantly supervised and absolutely no phones. LOL. This was actually right before the cold spell although it is warm in there. LOL. There just seems to me a monopoly on green tractors where ever you go. We may be an odd minority. In so many ways that it is hard to imagine. The feeling of witnessing our values ,heritage and what came from ones hands be cherished, valued and carried on is something that just there are no words to describe accurately.

Here are mine. First Wheel Horse I got is a Bronco 14, next was an 856 (sold it) (no picture), then a 701, then 702, and then a 312-H.

You living in that part of PA, where are the sleds? I have family in Blair and Bedford counties. Some of them have had sleds for as long as I can remember. Nice Wheel Horse. I have a Bronco 14 and love it. It is my plow unit. We had close to a foot of snow. Spend 2 hours on sunday plowing and then another 4 yesterday. Plowed my driveway, two of the neighbors driveways and the cul-da-sac.

Not looking to bad so far. Short frame, long frame hood and a bit of 312-8 thrown in.
