Some pictures for all that either enjoy or hate the white stuff, with the equipment that was used past and present. Back then the 2 stage blower was the one that saw the most action. Nowadays the 48'' blade does most of the cleanup with the help of a larger loader if things get deep. The accumulations seemed to have decreased but the fun is still the same. Enjoy snow lovers. Added the snowmobile pics to show the snow depth.

I've got a lot of questions and comments about the belt system on my 1969 Raider 12 so I made a video about it. Enjoy! https://youtu.be/eJ5Go5iT8Kw

Mrs. P picked me up this 524 tiller at an estate sale the other day. The Tecky has compression. Hopefully it’ll be a quick project when the time comes! It seems pretty stout for such terrible colors

So I was walking through the living room today. The front door caught my eye, and I turned towards it. We have some of the most awesome sunsets here, but this one was particularly brilliant. I said out loud, "that is the most awesome sun..." I stopped mid sentence, about faced, and retreated as quickly as possible while maintaining whatever dignity that might be left. It was too late. My wife had figured out what I referred to and had lost her composure. Let me explain in the way most things have to be explained to me: 1- it was about 5:00 PM. The sun was still up. 2- the door in the picture faces due east. 3- we have a 734 year-old cat that refuses to come indoors. I mean like scream and scratch like a mad rabies-infested racoon crazy. Taking him to the vet is very much like an episode of Wild Kingdom. His name is Stanly. 4- Stanly is rapidly moving towards that great litter box in the sky, but not before a long and joyus run with feline senility. He has stopped sleeping in his warm little blanket-filled box, and no longer poops in the yard. My wife's favorite front porch chair now works fine for both functions. 5- my loving wife had placed a heat lamp on her chair, because we're headed into low 20s tonight, and Stanly may indeed pass soon- but she doesn't want freezing to be the cause. Needless to say, after everyone stopped laughing, I was sent to my room for a nap. My wife was concerned that I might have post idiotic brain damage, but I don't have any idea what she is talking about. In my defense: The second pic below is a normal sunset here. Just never had one on the eastern side of the house before.

As they tried to modernize and or streamline, they just made them harder to work on and look less like "tractors"...

I know,no matter how carefully you brush it on.it’s almost magical how it gets everything all anti sneezed. I love the stuff.Just have lots of rags around.

I made a bracket similar to the older factory versions for my dual spool setup. As you can see, I add brackets everywhere I think it's needed. Very happy it isn't inside the dash like my 5xx tractors.

I just got a PM from Jim @elcamino/wheelhorse. He says he just had a letter returned that he sent to me in June,2021. I wonder how many times that letter went round the world in 7 months.

I my tranny is also set back a bit more. distance pulley to pulley is longer then stock. so will it be on Collossus too. That is a long way for a belt to have just one tensioner pulley. some supporting pulley would really get a lot of the slop and belt floatation out. I would like some extra speed. I sometimes have to drive a couple of miles on pavement. I reduced my rear pulley size to 4" as well. tires are going to be 27" high. My diesel will only turn 3000rpm max. so my expected top speed would be around 15mph

A company I was with decided to change their logo. All the old stationery was to be dumped -- including the blank sheets used for 2nd and 3rd pages and the envelopes along with a bunch of "expired" copier paper (I'm still not sure how paper "expires".) Got it off the loading doc and filled my minivan. My children used it for drawing and projects, my spouse and I used it in our printers. We plastered printed return address labels over the logo on the envelopes. Lasted us about 15 years.

Thats the way I do it .....and since I have a mill I set the hub in it and mill a flat spot so the jam nut will have full contact.

I'd like to go with this statement. But Jim keeps bringing it up so that Kevin don't forget. Kevin's day of retaliation will come I'm sure, It's all good though, I can take as well as give. If I remember correctly Ryan's son ended up wearing most of it.

Might be normal Huey.... especially if you have the correct 80/90 in her and it's cold out. Really cold tranny oil can drag a motor down and what's worse even after some operation, hydros not included, will not warm up much. Ther should always be a distinct noise between clutch in and out on really cold tranny. Sometimes even in milder temps.

Pretty cool Hosen ... I have all my dad's lapel buttons and put them in my shadow box. Can't get a good pic through the glass too much glass glare. Upper left hand corner A US button and a Corp of Engineers button.. not as elaborate as yours but still cool. Older than any of our tractors. That should definitely go on the table. No pics of him in uniform? Those would be cool to if even a pic not in uniform. Maybe other stuff too... enlistment or discharge papers, medals? You might be able to find some things of his military stint on line??? Insignias of units he was attached to?

Here’s an update on Alex’s 604. We waited a couple weeks for all new electrical parts and when they got here he wasn’t home. He got home today and naturally didn’t care that it’s only 7 degrees out and the garage isn’t heated. I convinced him that we could bring the engine in and work on it on the dining room table. He said to me “dad we can’t do that” my reply was “well there’s no one here to yell at us” which he then agreed with. So we brought it in and he helped me install the new parts. After a little adjusting we had good blue spark. Now we can clean up the mud wasp nest and a few other things and put it back together. Getting spark was the first step towards making this run. He’s pretty happy and so am I. Just remember folks…. If you’re cold, their cold. Bring them inside.

Love this topic. Great photos. I have post war Lionel stuff, as well as a couple of G scale Bachman Shay Locomotives. Haven't been unboxed for 5 years, used to get them out every Christmas. Last piece of train stuff that I had bought was a Lionel O gauge Shay locomotive. I live 4 hours away from the Cass Scenic Railroad, so I'm partial to Shays.

We finally got a little plowable snow. Alex texted me about 6 times today while I was at work wanting to know when I was getting home so he could plow. I finally got out and him and his older brother Aiden headed out and plowed my driveway and the path to my parents house. I really could get used to this. Alex on his 1077 and Aiden on my Bronco 14. They quickly worked out a system. Alex plowed with a straight blade and Aiden came behind him and did the clean up. The path between the 2 houses has never been so big, you could drive a Mack truck down it. They had a blast which is all that matters and I enjoyed just standing in the driveway watching. After all this is there 3rd year plowing snow so Maybe next time I can sit in the nice warm house and watch from the picture window 😂

I should clarify my previous response Eb. I've seen nothing that corrodes quicker than black oxide here in NC. I've seen them rust so fast that the socket itself rounds out to the point that you strip them out very easily- and I always grind my allen wrenches bottom flat if they slipped previously. Might just be bad luck on my part, but it's reason enough to avoid them, especially on a hub.

That “tree” was actually my Grandpa’s bird house for the martins. They were likely his favorite bird to watch on the lake, skimming for insects in the evening hours. The house broke years ago, but I figured the end wall would be great decoration, and a reminder of him.

Like Paul @pfrederi said, look under the S/G bracket on the engine bearing plate, the marks are on the flywheel. Probably not too easy to see without sanding the rust off the flywheel. Keyway at the top is TDC, covered this about 20 posts beck.

Couple of years back I was sending a pair of bearings to a member here, no cost, just a gift to help him out. They were going to a PO Box so I had to use USPS. USPS managed to get the package to the sorting facility about sixty miles away and it was lost. Several inquires were made but no sign of the package for two months. The intended recipient was in a bind so I packed up a second pair of bearings and headed back to the post office. I explained the lost package details to the post master and requested they pick up the tab for shipping the second package. They said no deal, "it wasn't their fault that the first package was lost"! Pardon Me, if it wasn't their fault whos was it? Perhaps the Postal Gremlin! I returned home and repackaged the bearings in a manner that should prevent their being lost. This time the package didn't get lost!

@Horse Newbie... EVERY time I go to TSC... NONE of the belts are in the place they should be. I literally have to dig through them... and I can't deny intentionally misplacing some... just to add to the madness... @ebinmaine... Not really, I actually do what Jeff does... I find myself putting them in their correct spot! Don
