Delivered the 417-A to my sister in Lexington, KY. It was a couple days too late for the 8" of snow they got, but in the end she was grateful and is looking forward to using it in all of it's facets (mower, tiller, plow, and dozer blade).

Started my day with a visit to the chiropractor. “Now take it easy and don’t do anything stupid” he says as I’m leaving. Does that mean locking my keys in the truck out in the middle of nowhere, or cutting wood all day? Luckily my Fiskars and some branches got me back in the truck. Time to work!

Self tapping ... mostly used in manufacturing, assembly & production sort of thing. Eliminates the tapping station but generally only in light fabrication & assembly.

All you RedSquare members can't be spending all your monies on tractors? Can you? How about a little diversion, you know variety is the spice of life. I built my train empire about 3 years ago for a little more than a grand and has a permanent location in our home. Lets see yours! Before describing my layout I acquired my Santa Fe on Cristmas morning 1958. Retired to a display under glass are two mint models I bought to replace my beaters. My Loco has a remote control for bells, whistle, speed, direction and our 3 & 5 year old grandkids love it. I hope in a couple years I can set it up in their family room when they reach 8 as I was My layout has 105 feet of "atlas" track in a figure 8 around the living room and front door foyer. With a partian wall, hall closet and fireplace mantle I only had to build about 40 feet of shelf. I also I had to build an incline because the figure 8 needed an overpass. The maxium slope a train can climb is 2 degrees so to reach 6 inches I needed 32feet . But on the other side the drop is twice that due to the limited space of the foyer and yet no matter the speed, I have yet to have a derailment.

We use those bolts by the thousands at work for fastening sheet metal together. Fabrication dept. will punch the bolt hole in the part leaving a think edge inside the hole. These bolts are then threaded into the hole without having to tap the hole first. Speeds up assembly.

I did find a solution to unsafe flip flops & Crocks, @Pullstart might want a pair of these. Oddly enough Keen does make steel toe sandal's - ish https://www.keenfootwear.com/en-ca/p/M-CSA-ATLANTA-II-COOLER.html

So I am waiting for this package coming through USPS. Supposed to be delivered today. Checked tracking last night and everything was ok , package located in Kearny distribution center which is correct location and close to me. Today I check and package in now in Hawaii?

I've had that trailer hooked behind a 3/4 ton truck loaded just as heavy as the trailer many times. The hitch on the back is for if we decide to drag a splitter along. Never tried two trailers loaded with wood. You guys shouldn't give me ideas.

Here is a picture of my son running my "N" gage layout that I had back in the 80"s. Still have all of the "N" gage, but I ended up buying "HO" for my son. I still have all of that boxed up also. I'll have to take some pictures of all the Model Railroader's Magazines I have. I have 2 full years of their magazine 1948-1949, a couple from 1947 and a few from 1950-1951. Here is the real 4-8-8-4 Big Boy as it came into Geneva, Ill 2 years ago. What a thrill seeing that in person.

I just figured that developing actual steel toes was part of earning a black belt.

The upper guide helps it “loop” around the engine pulley to help it release. It also keeps the belt from becoming too slack and kicking off the pulley. The extra upper idler really helps give the clutch a nice feel because now the factory clutch pulley is just working a smaller portion of the belt. Here is the system I copied.

Me n the BBT spent some more time with Millie today. We swapped the original 5 star light duty hubs for some HD hubs with 2 set screws off a 310-8. Also added inner wheel weights while we were in there. It now has 25-ish lb inner weights and 65 lb outter weights. We got a nice set of tire chains from @pfrederi. Thanks Paul! We'll get some straps or a chain tensioner on there. The battery hold down originally installed wasn't adequate so I added a cross piece. It sits a little off angle because of a vent but it's tight. Next will be to change the ignition switch and replace the wiring harness then adjust the steering shaft.

You should blindfold BBT, give her a wrench or paint or a hammer or duct tape, anything really… wipe off the dust on it and put her under Colossus… you remember Colossus?… and then tell her she’s working one of her tractors… step back and take pics… and she’ll have it finished before @Pullstart gets hurt again, or finds his keys, or… buys another Senior…

I used to play with trains as a kid. I have my Dad's American Flyer set along with a train set he got from my uncle. Now I have a license to operate real ones. Much more fun, though it comes with a lot of responsibility.

I cut and whittled the branches, made a set of wedges to open the top of the door far enough to reach a branch in and press the button. I typically keep a couple extra plow stakes in my truck just for that reason. Too bad I pulled ‘em out the other day to go through an annual car wash…

@roadapples, @Ed Kennell. Your weight restrictions sound about like ours. Fortunately they don't really bother with dragging pick ups to a scale here. Fact I don't think that I've ever heard of any one getting checked for weight with a pickup. They do spot check medium and heavy trucks on the interstates though. Technically I should have plates on my wood hauling trailer as it is capable of hauling over 3500lbs, been followed many miles but never stopped. I don't go near an interstate with it though.

“Don’t do anything stupid” he says. Once again, another story. The chainsaw started running rough, and then died. I pulled the plug, it’s quite black and thick. Poor spark. I ran into town, got a new plug, dropped off what wood I had cut, practically rebuilt the saw taking things apart, cleaning, reassembling. Good spark. Still no start. Maybe coil gap? Nope, that’s good. Timing is right. Have compression. It was just running. What could be so wrong? Check fuel. The rest is history. It gave me a good time to thoroughly clean the machine, something that was needed badly. I also cleaned the air filter and tuned the idle a bit too. I have tons of cutting power now, and truck keys are in my pocket! I need to yank this hanger down and get it cut up too. Still nothing like free (ish) firewood!

I have one of those trailers. They are very well built heavy duty trailers. My son took mine away from me and used it to haul his 4-wheeler. If it survived him it had to be tough!!

Mine says BEAR at the top and it only lights up after I eat certain kinds of food...

About 5 ft from her left knee there is a late 70s vintage Fisher Papa Bear wood stove. Room temperature was probably 78 or 80 and I assure you that concrete was nothing to do with cold... 😂 Having seen her spar and in Black Belt classes I will not be the one to test that theory. No sir. Nope. Uh-huh.

I’m not sure what scale this is, but it seems this whole tote fit on a 4x8 sheet of plywood back in the day. I’ve had a hankerin’ to set it back up some day… Growing up,I once sketched the controller I wanted for Christmas and it was accurate enough by memory that Grandma was able to take it to the train store and they got me just the one I was asking for. No bells or whistles, but I was king of the tracks in my day!

These went from a postage box to the tractor so there could be a twist in them. I store the ones for my own tractors hanging on the shed door. Trina's main worker has had the chains on full time for several years now. This tractor has AGs so we'll likely remove the chains in the spring, label and hang them. Hopefully I'll remember to spray some lube on them!
