6 pointsI use a lot of unwanted bed frame rails in my projects. They are free or nearly free. I pick them up curbside for free and at auctions for the $1.00 minimum bid.

6 pointsI will always cherish the memory of John "Brrly" Campbell for his love of the Wheel Horse tractors. We shared that passion but he taught me several things and shared information as I began collecting. I visited about four years ago in Toledo to buy a 603 Wheel Horse from him . My wife and I were treated to a visit with his friend who housed some of his tractors and also collected. John also was a fixture at the big Wheel Horse Collectors Club Show near Gettysburg, Pennsylvania in late June. My condolences to his family on their loss. May he Rest In Peace.

6 pointsI repaired and reinforced a known weak point on the c1x1 and 300,400 and 500 series. This is on my c141D

5 pointsAre you sure these are the right chains? It seems way too short--like it is sized for narrower or smaller diameter tires so the locking arm could go through the end link and then hook back as its supposed to.

5 pointsSorry to hear of John's passing. Hope this simple prayer will help. Dear Lord, you hold time within your hands, and see it all, from beginning to end. Please keep and carry John's family in their sadness and loss. Cover them with your great wings of love, give their weary hearts rest and their minds sound sleep. Lord, lift their eyes so that they may catch a glimpse of eternity, and be comforted by the promise of heaven. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus. Amen I never had the opportunity to meet John in person but did share a few PMs where he figured I wasn't correct on a post I'd made but wanted to be polite and not call me out on the thread he was referring to. That is the kind of people that we should all strive to be. Rest in piece John.

5 pointsAlways hate to hear about the loss of a fellow collector. My prayers go out to John's family. R.I.P. John

5 pointsBig John called me out of the blue one Saturday. He wanted me to pick up a sign for him. He ended up driving all the way out here to get it. The mark from his head where it hit my doorway is still there. RIP John

5 pointsI took a class on chainsaw safety once and one of the things I remember is that if you’re going to take more than two steps with a running saw engage the chain brake. I got in the habit of doing this and now it has become second nature.

5 pointsJust now reading and following everyone’s season. After passing on numerous small bucks I decided to take this one on November 10, five days ahead of Michigan gun season. I had missed a larger buck earlier with my compound so I used my crossbow for this one. Got another tag so will likely get back out there soon. Congrats to all who scored. Seems like fewer and fewer hunters out there every year.

5 pointsI can't speak to Onans, don't have any. For the Kohlers when a fuel pump start to leak or otherwise fail i go electric (I think I have 5 now). Facet Posi flo made in USA I have used both the 60304 1-2PSI and the 60245 1.5 -4psi. I had a cheap knock off pump failed after a few hours no issues with the posiflos. US Made may cost a bit more but.... I wire them to ACC. Turn on ignition you can hear them clicking as pressure builds up click changes and you can start up. The have an internal fuse 3.5 amps and draw very little current. Some say overhaul the existing metal fuel pump on the Kohler...but the price of the rebuild kit is about same as the posiflo. and if the Rebuild fails you might be pumping gas into your crankcase

4 pointsI heard it thru the grapevine, that there were Indy car models with a WH. I searched google images and found maybe 3 different teams with different color WHs. I don't know how many different sellers there are or how many kits are available. My order came to $20.50

4 pointsMy good friend @Brrly1 passed away last Sunday 11/28/21. He was a good friend to many others on this site also. Here is the Obituary... https://www.tributearchive.com/obituaries/23250315/john-a-campbell/holland/ohio/cremation-society-of-toledo-srs He was a fierce Iowa Hawkeye's fan. He loved getting into the old Big Ten Football Pools we used to do. He and @HorseFixer from Michigan and @JimD from Ohio St. would really have at it. I miss those guys and all that rivalry. May he rest in peace. I love you man.

4 pointsYeah, those things hide like 10 mm sockets and the socks from the dryer. Good thing they're cheap! LoL I have a bunch of those for the same reason Never used any brushes either. Sometimes a tiny copper wire for the main jet needle holes. I need to get one of those ultra sonic cleaners

4 pointsUpdate, Tank 1/4 full. Took the filter and did the John Wallfish filter flow test. I first blew into it work wise and nothing would pass. I turned it around and reversed the process and air went through. Once again I turned it work wise and test again and now some air would go through. Disassembled the filter. Seems well made, has a lot of glue looking stuff holding the element in place. The paper element really looks to be pretty fine. (the dirt on the element is from the dirty pliers I used to pull on the paper) The media pleats seem very close together. Maybe the fuel swells the paper a bit and then it drys out and self blocks. IDK Installed a Kohler barrel type filter and it fired right up. Ran it dry, side note there was about a 1/4" of fuel left in filter when it shut off, and now waiting till tomorrow to turn on the fuel and try it. This motor always started on the first or second pull. Will see.

4 pointsBeen up at the farm today. Repairing a 9ft x 9ft box section cubicle shed door frame ready for re-sheeting. Pleased there's some younger bodies up there for doing the lifting/carrying.

4 pointsLike getting rain gear on in winter, struggling for 20 mins. ...then realizing you need to pee.
-
4 pointsI bought a bag of the cheap paper filters found they were a loose fit with my fuel lines. Many of the Knock offs have a 6mm nipple for 6mm fuel line the rest of the world uses. 6 mm is .23622" so your .25" fuel line is a loose fit...

4 pointsCutesy, but fundamentally wrong! How about a video of this little Munchkin chomping on the semisolid berm of snow at the end of the driveway once the plow goes by?? I did not think so..... Don't send a toy to do a Horse's job... Bill
-
3 pointsI filled the weights with cement(guessing 35lbs each) Plus when I installed the Ags I filled them with winter windshield fluid. The ole girl is ready for the snow. (I also replaced the shifter boot as the old one was torn and brittle) Oh and the 8" carriage bolts fit but are a tad bit short. I did pick up 12" threaded rod that I will add next weekend.

3 pointsToday's picked part. It's looking like 10" needs to be removed from each side to make it the correct usable width.

3 pointsMy brother, cousin and some of their friends have a thing called “heat league” where they spend a Saturday morning a month or something like that cutting, splitting and delivering wood to each other’s houses. It typically involves more beer than work. My brother a good handful of years back knicked the tip of his chin cutting wood. I’m glad he learned a lesson without a funeral involved.

3 pointsThe other day I realized that I cannot recall any of the machines I worked on in the 60's and 70's having fuel filters. They all had wire mesh screens, normally as part of the fuel tank or the outlet. Time to do some research on flow rates and pressure reductions in fuel filters.

3 pointsYup! We welded with Kerosene lamps and candles. If we wanted to arc weld we flew a kite with a key on the tail. Thomas Edison was in diapers!

3 pointsHello! I joined this forum pretty recently and I'm probably not the typical forum visitor. I build scale models - usually 1/25 cars - and I've been working on an Electro 12 model. BTW, many of the model cars that I build are my favorite car and another South Bend native - Studebakers. I found this site while searching online for reference photos and manuals. It's a great place with a lot of excellent resources. Reminds me a lot of the Studebaker Drivers Club forum where the members have always been very supportive of my model building. Makes me want to have a real Wheel Horse (and a Studebaker). Anyway, this is where it all started: Probably not many people are more interested in the Wheel Horse than they are in the Indy Car but I'm building the tractor and may never build the car. The tractor in the kit appears to be Charger but after looking over this forum for a while I decided to convert it to the Charger's cousin - a 1969 Electro 12. I had already built the engine as it came in the box but I realized it wasn't correct for this tractor. This is what the first build-up looked like: So I stripped the paint off and did a conversion: The next order of business was building a mower deck since the kit didn't have one and what good is a Wheel Horse without it! I downloaded the manual for a 5-1422 (Thank you, Forum!) and started scratchbuilding. This has been a lot of fun! Here are a few shots from the build-up and the finished mower: The paint is Duplicolor Bright Red which is a GM color. I bought some IH Red at Tractor Supply but didn't really like the drying properties of the paint. The GM Red matches it very well and in fact I brushed on a little of the IH color as touch-up paint in a few spots and can't see the difference. Duplicolor is my preferred paint. It dries fast and hard. There's certainly more to come. I hope you enjoy. Most of the other major components are under construction right now and will be ready to post soon.

3 pointsPost up some pics of what you got and we can ID them all for ya. Don't take any pointing out of non factory stuff as bashing them! The info is typically provided for information so one knows what was factory and what is not or what has been modified. We luv'm all no matter what the condition is

3 pointsMy vote is ditch the oil sentry...plug it ... and get into the habit of checking oil frequently. But I am with Gregor and don't have a Magnum. @roadapples I didn't know you worked at NAPA ??? For 50 years??? Does this mean you and Squonky are blood bros?!?!
-
3 pointsTook the deck off, cleaned it up and flipped the wear bar on the plow and lubed everything up, then installed the plow. Ready.
