10 pointsPicked up 2 loads of wheel horses and parts. 7 tractors, tub cart, plow, blower, 3 decks, and a couple sets of wheel weights. c160 parts c160 c81 c101 c175 charger 12 commando v8 plan is to fix up the c160 and keep it and the rest will be either sold as is or parted out.

9 pointsI have no tractors tore down. No motors to reassemble. Nothing to do. I am still waiting on pieces from my media blaster for a Lawn Boy project. 4 weeks now. I decided to clean out some garage cabinets. It's amazing what a person can find. I found a Dewalt cordless 1/2" impact driver, I forgot I had. I bought a new one 6 weeks ago. I have 4 sets of 1 1/2" wheel spacers. Why? I have 77 cans of spray paint. Some are my wifes. I have 4 partial boxes of gun nails. I have not used a nail gun in 3 years. Although I have 4 of them. I have 74 new, never used, chrome lug nuts. Guess I need more tractors. I have a LOT of 6" pieces of fuel line. If I strung them all together, I could reach the other side of the garage. I have 16 used 10" carbide tipped saw blades. They say if you don't use something for 2 years, it's time to throw it out. I have things I haven't even seen in 5 years. I have a lot to throw out. Then to top it off, I had the local radio station on the other day. They played "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer", remember that song. (you'll be thinking of it all day long now.) Then this popped into my head. "Grandma Got Run Over By A Wheel Horse", and it was all down hill from there. I have too much time to think. I ended up with this. Sung to the original song of course. Grandma got run over by a Wheel Horse Walking from the barn the other day Grandpa had a couple drinks too many And Grandma simply got into his way Grandma wasn’t very happy She was knocked down to her knickers And Grandma she got even madder When the old man had a grin and even snickered If that old man thought that this was funny Leaving Grandma there to lay That old man would learn a lesson That old man was surely gonna pay Getting up was quite a struggle Brushing off the dirt and mud She was bent on getting even And Grandma was gonna see some Grandpa blood. Grandma stomped back to the barn doors Grabbed them both and flung them wide She trotted over to her Senior Grandmas very own personal Wheel Horse ride Grandpa took off down the dirt trail Bouncing over rocks and sticks Grandpa was sure he’d get away On his trusty Tecky powered 6-5-6 Grandma fired up the 8 horse Opened it up and dumped the clutch Grandpa may have had a good lead He would soon learn that is wasn’t quite enough Grandpa was gettin’ a little worried The Tecky gave him all it had He found out it could not out run Grandma on an 8 horse when she’s mad No body really knows what happened Grandpa was a long time coming home When Grandma finally went to bed Grandma was happy sleeping all alone The next day Grandpa he was limping Grandpa was leaning on a stick Said he had a little work to do Fixing up his trusty pal his 6-5-6 When you’re dumb and feeilin’ kind-a stupid Here is one real important factor If you’re dumb enough to pizz off Grandma You had better get yourself a faster tractor

7 pointsFirst I want to say thank you to @19richie66 for letting me adopt this tractor. I had a little time over the weekend to tinker with it a little. The hydraulic lever was 3/8 rod and would not let the belt cover go on. I put a new drive belt on and modified the hydraulic control lever and installed the belt cover. Then I started on the cover for the other side. This is where the hydraulic pump sticks out. It was previously installed with pop rivets. I cut the flange off the bump out part to fit the hole and started welding it in place. After I tacked it together I tried it for fit. Now to finish welding it up.

7 pointsI filled the weights with cement(guessing 35lbs each) Plus when I installed the Ags I filled them with winter windshield fluid. The ole girl is ready for the snow. (I also replaced the shifter boot as the old one was torn and brittle) Oh and the 8" carriage bolts fit but are a tad bit short. I did pick up 12" threaded rod that I will add next weekend.

5 pointsYep that's the right one just swap them out. I was never lucky enough for that to be "in the box" Red or even green loctite on those plate screws. Yeah I know but so fast and easy even a Squonky can do it!

5 pointsOk, I use the word trail loosely because the trails are pretty much gone now. But @Docwheelhorse texted me and said how about a ride in the woods and of course I said “Yep”! Me on my trusty C-105 and Tony on a less trusty 312/8 (tie rod popped off like 25 times) and his nearly 15 year old dog Cole. The one water crossing was quite mucky today…I let him go first to check depth .

4 pointsThat's close enough. Actually for skinning squirrels. The hide is cut around the girth, the head placed in the large center notch, and the rear half of the hide pulled down to the rear feet and tail. Then the rodent is turned around and the rear feet wedged in the two small notches, and the front hide pulled down to the feet and head. Dress and cut the four feet and head and tail loose.......make some pot pie.

4 points@AHS I'm no fan of those Chinese carburetors but if you want to use it one option is to swap the choke shaft from the old carburetor. Your BEST option is to do as Paul said above. Do you have the old carb? You mail it down here and I'll rebuild it for you...

4 pointsAs someone who has had back surgery and probably will need another, SAVE YOUR BACK!!!! I was taught many years ago, there are so many lifts in your back. Proving how strong / macho/ whatever you are lifting heavy bulky stuff is just foolish. It's not just how much does something weigh, it's also how is that weight distributed. What is there to actually grab onto? I use my lift table and chain hoist even on the K181's I've been working on. You may be able to toss that big block on the bench now, but you'll pay for it in the late years.

4 pointsGoes without saying, but - take a good look at the block and the camshaft - cam is cast iron and does not tolerate impact - any evidence of it being struck by the rod fiddeleybits as they whipped around and I would not trust it. Bill

4 pointsEric: That is a Test Indicator and Magnetic Base with the not-so-rigid knuckled arm. Probably used to check brake rotor run-out. That indicator, if it moves smoothly, has limited (+/- .010) travel, and is good to have. The magnetic strength on the base can diminish over time - just replaced mine this year, bought in in the 1980's. The posable arm (think GI Joe doll) will wear out first - the cam action over time will not be enough to hold all the joints tight. I prefer the solid arm version. Bill

3 pointsPulled out the back-up generator the other day to test run. Just making sure everything is tickety-boo...... Well not. I use non e fuel and run r dry when I put it away and still had carb issues. It has not been run in a while, i would say spring. maybe last winter, it has been a while. Would not run without choke. So take it to the shop do the carb cleaning, oil, air filter, fuel line (seemed brittle), and a new fuel filter. Test run great, no issues other than one 120v receptacle was kind of loose. (ended up having a crack). Of course, the receptacles are commercial grade and I did not have any. Got the new receptacles installed and went to start it and no run. Wasn't getting gas. The new inline MTD fuel filter was the fault. Could just barely blow through it and when put in place on gravity feed... no dice! Tank, fuel lines all cean. The carb really didn't seem to bad when I cleaned it. Out of the scores of fuel filters I have replaced I never had this happen. Might cut it open in a day or two to take a look.

3 pointsMy vote is ditch the oil sentry...plug it ... and get into the habit of checking oil frequently. But I am with Gregor and don't have a Magnum. @roadapples I didn't know you worked at NAPA ??? For 50 years??? Does this mean you and Squonky are blood bros?!?!

3 pointsAlso not a bad idea to make an adapter between the springs and seat. I use 1/8 steel, so it stays low profile but is plenty strong. I've made several, and it is much easier than modifying the seat or springs.

3 pointsJust picked up a nice C160 and a few things going on prompting a seat replacement. I have a hip issue that limits my flexibility and on my other 8Hp the seat sits slightly higher (foldable with armrests) and makes a huge difference in comfort me. The C160 seat is 1 piece (no arm rests or folding) and I'm looking to get something slightly higher and a lot more comfortable with arm rests. I've seen some mention Northern Tool / Michigan Seat, and wondering what is the best upgrade option? Is anything plug and play or do I need to do some drilling. Should I add springs? Thanks!!

3 pointsI have one of these in pieces, and the manual. It was a retrofit kit. It lifts the main rockshaft, so the rear hitch would be dependent on the cable. When I get home I'll find a part number for it.

3 pointsThat is a dial indicator on an adjustable mount with a magnetic base. I have used them on a lathe to check trueness, also used them when lacing a spoke rim to check trueness. When lacing a Harley rim the tolerance is .015" on the wobble and .015" on the hop.
