5 pointsBeen quiet of late as I've been so busy. Lots of community stuff and litter picking etc. Also while playing in the mower shop today a juvenile Swan landed on our driveway. All I could do was catch it and carry it the mile back to our local canal.

5 pointsSo this isn't perfect by no means, but I couldn't look at the gaping hole in the grille any longer. Maybe someday I will end up with the correct parts to fix it rite. A scrap piece of aluminum, an old emblem from a trash 312-8 hood a bit of paint and no more hole.

4 pointsI used to work at an RV dealer. We took a rental unit to a Bills game once. Since I wasn't much of a drinker I was designated to drive. Imagine my disappointment when I saw 6.2 DEISEL on the side. One of the guys said if I could pass 1 car on the NYS thruway, he'd buy me a beer when we got back to Rochester. I managed to find an old lady in a Chevette!

3 pointsIf you are buying new cylinders just make sure they are ones that are common size. Helps if you every need to replace one. We have three loaders over the last ten or so years and only one leaked. We did get a replacement and a kit to repair. Sizing the cylinder to the pump GPM is essential. Controllable speed. I looked at both, as a matter of fact, i looked at my old neighbors Kubota single thinking about doing it that way. I did use up a little more space and kind of but it right in the center of works. Ended up with two on the ends I was trying to keep the load closer to the tractor. The single cylinder was just about twice the diameter of the lift cylinder. These pics were from 2011

3 pointsSame here. at least once a week, but sometimes 4-5 days. I was just mowing parts of the lawn that grow faster and even mowing till dark and finishing the next day. My wife did not like that, so i put her on one of the c-145 tractors that still need a bit of work. Now we mow as a team and she is learning more about how I open up the lands [what farmers call splitting up field segments] . Having at least three or four running tractors helps a bit in case a tire goes flat or a bearing smokes.

3 pointsThose seats were awesome. I always wanted a set when I had my 80's Chevys. Olds engine is unusual. You normally didn't see that until you had to replace a blown up diesel in the late 70's

3 pointsLooking good! I never understood what the ring clip on the front of the axle pivot pin was for. That being said, you can get 3/4 cold rolled steel at most any hardware store and weld that tab back onto it. You could always drill a hole and put a pin in place of the clip on the front.
-
3 pointsTrying to clean everything and paint as I fix the little things. Waiting on my pin for the for the axle. I ordered and received the key switch and starter. Waiting on the rear axle seals, idler pully and switch pig tail. I still need to order the ball joints and maybe the front hitch plate. The front hitch plate hole is oblong from the pin wobbling.

3 pointsIt was a nice evening so when we got back from my Grandpa’s birthday party Tasha got the rubbing compound out and went to work, I think with some final polishing that the old truck will really shine again. It was too dark by the time she got done with it to get a good picture, but here are some I took that really show the difference a little elbow grease made

3 pointsOne of my dad’s tractors that my nephew had. He wasn’t doing anything with it. I would love to do a complete restoration on this one. We’ll see.

2 pointsSo.... I just got home with this. I been wanting to fix one up for my 9 yr old nephew. I need to do it in a hurry as I will be going in hospitol soon for my 3rd battle with cancer. You know the story. Was told it ran about a month or so ago. Not running now. I just got home with it so I haven't checked it out yet. Have never owned a Lawn Ranger before, and know nothing about them. Maybe you guys can tell me what I have here and any advice would be helpful as well. Seems to be complete with the exception of the seat. Going to need to pick one up somewhere.

2 pointsThat’s the happiest poop I’ve seen in quite a while… I have been thinking about that tractor and how it could go different. When we buy tractors we have to make the critical decision whether to use money in the bank, or money set aside for play. In less than 12 months, we’ve added a Senior, Lever Steer and another RJ35 to the collection. I feel like I made the right move consciously to wait until I had extra $$ to make the call. No harm, no foul.
-
2 pointsIt found me. It should clean up nice. Can't wait to see it in the day light. Looks like you have to take the steering wheel off to take the hood off. Here I thought Wheel Horse made things easy to work on. Who designed that !!!
-
2 pointsI am loving that tractor. Glad you got it home. When you get some time snap some pics. Please. The tires too, front & rear.

2 pointsYou feeling’ ok @pullstart??? Work, responsibility, etc. before scoring another …? I mean, I understand babysitting the kid and all, but she’d ride on your knee… I’m thinkin you gots the fever or something…

2 pointsArchery opens 9/18 here but I don't get excited until the leaves change and a couple good frosts. Not one to sit in the stand and swat skeeters!

2 pointsI see no issue with using a single ram on the bucket. With a little extra steel you could also make a self leveling bucket set up with the single ram. Similar to what Case and CAT use on their construction equipment.

2 pointsI’ve had engines that had spark but wouldn’t start finally run when I replaced the spark plug. The spark didn’t look a whole lot different to me, but it made a world of difference to the engine!

2 pointsI have plowed snow with an Eaton 6, similar to the 7 (but without decelleration valves, so not so quiet or smooth). Works fine until you get to a bigger pile than you should move. Then it just stops moving or relief valve opens/ bypasses- i think. Not like it'll explode and leave parts rolling down the driveway. The shuttle ability to just go back and forth without clutching and shifting is nice and with chains & weight added it did surprisingly well. For mower work and under 6" snow depth i vote 314A adequate, and i'll duck now - but the 244H would do for you quite a while too. THE major thing I would avoid with the lighter duty hydros is pulling a trailer with a 1000# of firewood especially downhill. When you lightly reverse for dynamic braking you might come to grief. A manual trans comes downhill under engine compression and has actual mechanical brakes.

2 pointsDon't most all small engines use 3/8" pipe thread? I can't recall owning one that used 1/2" pipe, but i believe the wrench size on the square head 3/8" pipe plug is 1/2".

2 pointsDid some serious tree pruning today, when I took the first load of trimmings to the burn pit I found another cherry tree has volunteered for firewood duty.

2 pointsSaved a 1968 Camillus Pilot's knife today...picked it up at an antique mall for the whopping price of $5.99. Not pretty and no sheath...but a small project for my son and I to see what she's got left for life... After some wire brushing and steel wool with a little vinegar...also rubbed the leather with some work boot lotion. Handle is still rock solid and overall cleaned up pretty good... We'll see how pretty we want to make it down the road... My son Jack, 9 years old, is already claiming it as his first knife And with the double finger guard I think it would make a good first knife...

2 pointsToday is the third day I can actually function, though feel only 90% conscious. The back lawn is at max COVID length so I hit the shed and moved the newer machines out, pumped the tires on the old 77 RD and out she came. She's a tooth loosener as the former PO bolted the seat directly to the pan but she sure can make short work of that grass. Too wet to continue so she can sit and be admired until later. The 48" SD can finally get the assembly its been wanting for the last month.

2 pointsGot it running…definitely needs a tuneup and some fresh gas ran through it…got a little bit of fuel seepage around the seals in the carburetor, though that will be an easy remedy. Going back tomorrow to finalize the deal and hopefully bring her home
