9 pointsThere's a place called Evan's Notch about an hour north of home. It runs along the Maine/ New Hampshire border following route 113 through a beautiful area of the White Mountains. This past weekend we went a little to the east of that for a night of unplanned but absolutely excellent wilderness camping. In the great desire to get away from the general crowds on the more well known trails we try to find lesser known/visited locals. Normally that area would be sparsely or uninhabited. Unfortunately there was a group of 8 or more very nice but very loud folks camping. They also had a pair of lovely but loose dogs roaming around. That's NOT an option for our own Meeha Mirror because of her issues. Sooooo, we decided to grab some supplies and head into the forest a ways.... The area was likely settled by European folks in the late 1700s. There are several families that sent soldiers to the Revolution and the Civil War. The Butters family is one of the older names there. The gravestone pictured below is that of two Butters children that passed in 1819. That home's cellar hole is the first pic. One of the mountain peaks is named Butters. There are other peaks honoring local families as well. Mt Meader. Durgin. Likely others. In the above mentioned effort to be away from folks and their dogs while hiking Trina and I have been spending more and more time "bushwhacking" hikes. Typically we'll start out on a trail but veer off when/where we see something worth exploring or staring at. Because the campground was occupied and because we wanted to wander the back country we found some pretty awesome stuff including the site we chose to set up camp. 6 pointsPicked up a couple snowblowers a couple weeks ago. 2 for $100. Not in great shape. In fact the auger was thrashed. Using some tips from here set to work. Not show quality but hopefully flings snow.

4 pointsI finished up the porch ceiling I was doing for a friend- with pay...the house was so out of square we ended up using 2x4's to trim around the perimeter. Then we used 11/16ths quarter round at the top of the 2x4's. Not perfect by far, but he was well pleased, and the 2 foot round hole where it had rotted is gone...he'll be hiring someone else to paint it.

4 pointsThanks Don. This year.... Almost none. Some years are better/worse than others of course. Lots of folks around here won't even venture out the door if there's any bugs out. Really though it wouldn't make a bit of difference to us. More repellent is all. Sometime in April or May every year we have about 3 weeks of black fly season. Black flies like running water. We live on a mountain side and have a stream every few hundred feet. It's sheer utter madness. And... we have head nets. When the skeeters n ticks are out we use whatever repellent works best. Ya CAN'T keep a Trina under a roof for long!

4 pointsGoing to clear up a few statements from above... 1. if you have 1" axles, you have 4 pinions...period !! 2. they do make an 8 speed with 1" axles and it has 4 pinions...period 3. if you have 1 1/8" axles, you either have 8 or 10 pinions...except for the "heavy duty trans" which has the bevel gear differential. There are no 1 1/8" axles with 4 pinion differentials. 4. The best test for 10 pinion Limited Slip is to count the bolts in the differential...5 bolts = 10 pinion LS 4 bolts = 8 pinions 5. 2nd best test...put horse up against a tree, put into 1st gear and let out the clutch...if both wheels turn = 10 pinion if only one wheel turns = 8 pinion or weak or bad spring in a 10 pinion LS.

4 pointsWelcome to the Forum! Yes, this is the right place to post for general questions. If you had specific engine or transmission or electrical, they'd go to the other places (see the list under "Browse" on the home page. Yes, also, an Onan P216 engine. Sounds to me like it's being starved for fuel. If you have a clear fuel filter on the engine, can you see fuel moving into it in "squirts" (the filter usually doesn't fill up). Check items: - fuel valve open fully - cap venting (test by leaving the cap loose or off for a few minutes) - fuel line not pinched, or cut, and no loose connections that could be letting in air - fuel filter in the the tank not clogged - fuel filter on the engine not clogged A simple-ish test is to close the fuel petcock at the tank and then carefully remove the fuel line coming into the fuel pump (mounted on the side of the blower housing). Place the hose in a suitable container then open the fuel petcock to see that fuel flows smoothly out of that hose when held below the level of the fuel tank. CAREFULLY because: a) the nipples on the fuel pump are plastic and if you break one, it means a new pump!, and b) this is gasoline you are handling! If good flow, then likely not clogged or pinched fuel line. If it isn't one of the above, then the next thought is a bad fuel pump. You can test the fuel pump by disconnecting the hose from the pump to the engine filter, stick it in a container, then with the fuel petcock open crank the engine and see if the pump puts out fuel in spurts. Lastly, a sticking needle valve or a sunken float in the carb. Much more effort to get to. Good luck

3 pointsGood day all. I've been into Garden tractors for a long time and have always wanted a Wheel Horse, but they were always elusive, too much money, or rusted away. Went to an estate sale Saturday and picked up two garden tractors including a WH Raider 12. The other is an '83 Allis Chalmers 917H with belly mower. I'm stoked. Lots of parts in a cardboard box, but so far the only thing I can positively identify as missing is the coil and the retaining brackets and bolts for the PTO friction disk. Starter was removed and didn't work, but after taking it apart it was obvious why. The lead wire was separated from the lug that the battery cable hooks to from the solenoid. It also came with a belly mower, snow plow, snow blower, and a WH branded leaf rake. Still sorting out if I have all the extra stuff needed to run the implements. The only thing I really wanted was the belly mower but the rest was part of the deal. Spent today cleaning parts and waiting impatiently for the ignition coil to arrive tomorrow. Anyway, I appreciate all I've read so far and am looking forward to getting this thing going. Take care. Brannon

3 pointsIve talked with Dennis Thornton about mini crawlers before on here and usually see Struck crawlers for sale when a min pops up but when has anyone ever seen one of these Lennox Kitty Kats for sale? Ive seen them in photos and old advertisements but never for sale. This would make a fun rest project. I believe one of our members in HVAC is familiar being that its related to Lennox furnaces.

3 pointsDoubling up roll pins is done to increase strength. My roll pin kit even came with a chart showing how to properly nest them and the sizes required.

3 pointsGot my C-195 back together today. Drove it around my property parameter a couple of times. The hydro linkage is working fine, the electric fuel pump seems to keep up, but something is off with the carb. The idle is too rich, the choke linkage is weird, and it is not starting as easily as it was before I started working on it. Looks like there might be some trailer work for it tomorrow.

3 pointsThe plates were not the issue. The pinions in the limited slip are tiny, and they shatter under heavy load. Might have been better when new, but wear allows for more and more misalignment. What would be considered normal use, they hold up fine. But they can't handle the abuse that an 8 pinion can.

3 pointsHave you been using ethanol gas, if so that could be the cause. The ethanol will gum up a carburetor. Carburetor will need a good cleaning. Most of us here use nonethanol gas.

2 pointsI finished making Norman even more capable, squeezing a 5th wheel around the turnover ball gooseneck setup. To top it off, my buddy has a 16k hitch he said he’ll swap me for my 14k. I’ll be dragging a 5th wheel to Daytona this month, along with picking up another trailer soon.

2 pointsMy 312-8 with 1654 hours got a new electric fuel pump today. The cheapest one I could find on Amazon, $9.98 for an "HEP-02A" pump. Some kind Wheel Horse engineer designed the frame with 2 perfect mounting holes, knowing I'd be ditching their mechanical pump 30+ years later for a $10 Chinese deal 🙄. I have an inline fuel filter before and after the pump- the 2nd one was really just used as a hose splice where I bypassed the old pump. No relay, this only draws 1 amp so I didn't see the need. I do need to wire an inline fuse though and solder it up. Also for those who've gone electric, did you remove the old pump or just leave it as is?

2 pointsC-125 has been rather reluctant to start for a while. A lot of winding up, throttle and choke juggling, fire a little then stop. Yesterday after the usual palaver, I sprayed some petrol into the carb mouth. Started then, so I'm thinking weak fuel pump. So today I changed the pump. Did start a bit better and time will tell. Maybe invest on an electric pump at some future time.

2 pointsGave my deck to my cousin a while back to have it patched. Needed a large patch welded on the front. Seems they all rot out in that very same spot as I have 3 decks all with holes in the same place. I tested a little red paint on it but decided to paint it black and silver to match the custom decals @Vinylguymade up for me. Tomorrow I will put the deck decals on and try it out on the 1075.
