10 pointsCongratulations, and way to go. Having a forum that cares, who are knowledgeable, and willing to give "good" advice is great on the projects we need done. Again, congrats on tackling this yourself.

9 pointstested everything out on some grass and it worked well

9 pointsSo after cleaning the gunk out, and using an appropriate (sort of) tool, it actually came out pretty easily. I was so excited to replace the oil, that I forgot to put in a new filter while it was empty. 🤦♀️ The old stuff actually looked really good, so I’m going to hope that the filter is still in good shape and just catch it next time. Rookie!! pic of the winning tool! 🤣

8 pointsUnder coat can effect the top coat color on some paints. With Candy colors the base color will drastically change the color of the top coat. A little example of how the under color will change the candy top coat color.

7 pointsSeasonal swap day. two plows and a blower up to the shed (blue arrow) two mower deck tractors down to the shop. Manged to squeeze 7 horses into the shed. only one issue Electro 16 mower had a flat tire...
-
7 pointsDecided to take the 857 out for a little ride today. Hooked up the " hot rod " trailer and cruised up and down the street. Got a few waves from the neighbors.
-
6 pointsCandy colors are very translucent. This is why the base color effects the candy color so drastically.

6 pointsI ended up with a HF tool cart I wasn't using and my other welder cart/table wasn't really working out like I wanted, so I converted my tool cart to a weld cart. First I removed the lid and a divider on the left side along with the locking setup. I cut one end down between the uprights for connections for the welder. Covered the edges with some welting from amazon. I used 13" no flat tires from HF and the axle lines up with the bottom holes on the cart, just opened them up to 5/8" and slide the axle in and weld. I will let pictures speak for themselves and ask any questions you may have. It is working out really well and rolls super easy on my rough floor.

6 pointsIt's a roller!! The pic makes the front look a lot wider than the rear. Looks that way standing in front of it too. Actually not so. The top of the rear tires measure 41-1/2" across. The front wheels are canted in at the bottom. Front tires measure 41-3/4" top, 39-1/2" across the bottom. Perfect.

6 pointsI did something I never could have imagined myself doing today. Thanks to this forum, the encouragement of the members and detailed instructions from @T-Mo, I rebuilt my carburetor! thank you!

5 pointsLooking Good Eric—that is exciting stuff to see this beastly tractor make it to this phase. In the words of Henry Jones Sr (Indiana Jones films) “what are you sitting there resting for when we are so near to the end?” 😁😅😂🤣

5 pointsGreat looking bunch. What color is that red of the round hood on the left. My ear is still ringing from the squeal the wife made when she saw it. I think she likes it. 😄 I really like the headlight placement as well.

4 pointsThe hood was first painted silver with blue & charcoal flames. Then 3 coats of Candy Apple Red was sprayed over the top of these base colors. This resulted in 3 different colors of red. Giving a "Ghost Flame" effect. After the 3 coats of candy apple red, three coats of urethane clear was applied for UV protection,

4 points@pullstart care to comment? He and I share a cool trick from 1/2 way across the country. I learned a saying from an old mechanic many moons ago. We live in the north.... Rust is a way of life. That tech told me: You can almost never loosen it but you can almost always tighten it. Sounds backwards to some... TIGHTEN a nut/bolt/fastener an 1/8 of a turn first.
-
4 pointsWorked on the shifter a little more got it to where I like it and continued work on the spacer block under the console. Made some wings for it to spread the weight over. Just got to drill the block and bolt them on tomorrow.

3 pointsIt has a fantastic look, and i like it very much. Some colors develops different color shades especially in sunlight. I also love the strong glossy on the top surface. I be completely unable to do that, I'm far too impatient for that, but i love it to see in result.
-
3 pointsRed and yellow are usually the 2 hardest colors to achieve "hiding" with. White is usually one of the easiest to achieve hiding with. When working in a body shop we would sometimes spray a similar color base down first to make it easier to cover with the correct color.
-
3 pointsAnd brake bleeders. You don't need to go the full 1/8 turn though, just until you feel it move, sometimes a little 'snap' that indicates it moved. Hopefully not a big 'SNAP!' that indicates you've broken something. Those are made of cheese. If you get a REAL key you can slip a short length of pipe over the key for added leverage. I've got a set of plastic handled nut drivers that have hollow shafts. They work dandy for this. OR... best advice so far is the socket wrench thingy.

3 pointsWith the spark plug removed, ignition off, PTO lever forward and the transmission in neutral you should be able to turn the engine over by hand. Slowly turning the PTO bell in a counterclockwise direction observe the ignition points. The points will open once every two revolutions of the engine. When they open the maximum amount the open should be about 0.020" prior to starting to close. If they aren't doin this a small adjustment may be needed. Also, the wire should be pointed downward so it will pass through the opening in the points cover.

All in all, happy with how things turned out. Time to do some yard rolling, hit a couple of shows and try to sell.
