5 pointsSmoked that 'Stang, reminds of way back in '93 my buddy had just bought a new LX coupé 5.0 5spd I had my first Malibu 79 factory 305 4spd still had the factory cat and muffler and working very well Q-Jet, we lined up and set them off, I got the hole shot for him roasting the hides off before he could get taken off, the ole horizontal speedo in the Malibu went to 85 then disappeared and my HEI module went into breakdown mode like a rev limiter as he finally got by me more than a 1/4 mile since taking off, so when met up a bit later he said he was clocking 127-130 to get around me not bad for an ole worn 305.

5 points@pullstart @DennisThornton nothing quite like that. Keeping in mind I went military. WWII to be exact. My father and his 4 brothers and my grandfather were in WWII. My father was in the Third Army at the Battle of the Bulge and my grandfather was in the Azores and Okinawa. And that is why I picked WWII

5 pointsI find it much easier to install if I start the barbed fitting into the rubber grommet up to the first barb, then insert the grommet into the tank, then push the barbed fitting in place expanding the rubber to make the seal. Of course all parts should be greased before assembly.
-
5 pointsThat rubber grommet should likely be replaced. Before buying another, pull that one apart and inspect for cracks in the plastic tank. Then, the grommet is installed and the valve simply pushes in.

5 pointsThat's just plain crazy talk @Darb1964 a little cold and snow shouldn't be considered when there's a shivering, and starving out there.

4 pointsThe rounded blade nut believe it or not gets started that way mowing "wire" or orchard grass and or a combination of that and sandy soils, just wears them down then add a 12pt socket/wrench or cheap open end wrench to the mix and lets go for a ride around the corners, then put it back on for another year or 2 and look what you get to do now.

4 pointsWithout this getting political of course gas and fossil fuel is going to go thru the roof but that's what got voted in so that's what we are going to get. Go buy some tesla stock. It's really interesting studying from both points of view. The reality is we as a country or world cannot cut off fossil fuels yet. Affordable alternatives are not available to the average family yet
-
4 pointsBecause that's what people do, right or wrong. A lot people that owned garden tractors and riding mowers didn't have mechanical knowledge and did what they had to do make them work.

3 pointsYou can use the old switch. You run a small battery wire to the switch. And run a small wire from the start terminal of the switch to the small terminal of the solenoid. Battery positive cable to one side of the solenoid and the other side run a battery cable sized wire to the generator. Turn the key to start and the solenoid closes sending power to the gen

3 pointsThis 'started' as a used 250 with 307 chevy flat tops and small block valves, clifford intake, rochester 4GC (small) 4bbl, split shorty headers, crane 260 cam. It ran good. Swapped to a bigger cam, then a bigger one yet and it helped, and certainly sounded better.(Schneider custom grind hydraulic) Then I did the port lumps, 1.94/1.6 small block valves, unshrouded the chambers, blended the intake ports and opened up the exhaust ports, then wacked .070 off the head for 9.8:1. It woke up big time- day and night from bottom to top! THEN, I tossed the old rochester and put a race prepped Holley 500cfm 2 barrel on it and think I gained as much as the head work! The drag strip vid it was running mid 9s in the 1/8 mile at 76mph, and that was with the 4bbl. Thats knocking on 14s in the quarter- with puny 3.36s, no posi, and a muncie 4 speed. Ol girl is most likely in the low to mid 14s now

3 pointsI have a 3/4" all thread like EB was talking about but mine is bolted through the work bench. Holds the wheel while tires go on or off. plasdtic lid under the rim and some fingers cut from an old leather glove help save the paint.

2 pointsOn a lighter note, we're buying a new house. 1.5 miles from my wife's mother instead of 150. Jury is out on whether the gasoline cost will be more or less. The house was built in 1787. Pretty sure cost to heat that is gonna sting. To paraphrase the movie......There be sharks in these waters. You may need a bigger boat.

2 pointsI was going to suggest using the stub axles as well. If that's a no go, I've had good luck with the method below. Block 1 and the mandrel are fixed to the table. The two blocks start off lined up next to each other, but block 2 is connected to a pivot at the center of the mandrel by an arm and rotates around the mandrel as you make the bend. You would connect any lever needed to block 2 to prevent bending the spindle anywhere except where you wanted it bent.

2 pointsCommon problem on the Onans & been discussed many times before. Not real difficult to raise the engine to spin the elbow. Remove all four engine to base bolts & get a pry bar under it and lift up just enough to get the elbow off. You can put a valve in there just make sure it can't accidently get opened. Just one such thread but do an all word search on Onan oil loose and you will find more. 1995 520H Onan loose seeping eng. oil drain pipe - Engines - RedSquare Wheel Horse Forum

2 pointsOn this side of the pond, they are fairly easy to find. You see the valve has a pre-filter. If you can find the kit, it might be a better way to go than simply replacing the grommet.
