7 pointsTrina, the pup, our best friend and I spent a good portion of today walking in Caribou/Speckled forest outside of Stoneham ME.

7 pointsJust before heading out this morning I decided to check the Red Square classifieds. I then see a RJ-58 for sale about 40 minutes from me. Well next thing I know I have a change of plans for the day, and I’m on my way to get an RJ ! This tractor will receive a full blown restoration over the winter.

7 pointsHad a real redneck moment I wanted to share. Figured perhaps some one else could use it, if you are a cheap skate like me I had these 20x10-8 tires i wanted on my flat bed garden trailer, so I made some axles with trailer spindles, and bought some 9" wide rims. Those sit nice on the 20X10´s I figured. Now I haven't gotten around to getting me one of those air blasting tanks they use to seat tires on rims that really cant reach out to the edge and seal on their own. I had this situation: I figured I needed it done now, and wouldn't wait for a basting tank to arrive. Scratched my head a bit and got this brain fart: Why not put a ratchet strap around the tire and tighten till it bulges the lips out? Nuts i know, but it worked! Now it sealed nicely, put air in and seated it, let air out and removed the ratchet strap, and refilled air. Repeated 3 more times and hey presto! I know it's far out, but hey, if you are in a pinch, this may work.

7 pointsGrandson practice on the homemade ski trainer Grandsons took Nanny on her first trailer ride 2 of my sons and oldest grandson went out on the sailboat Still warm enough for a slightly cool swim Always swing time Dirk my daughter-in-laws Malinois wanted a ride. He was tired from practicing at a Security Protection dog Club event. Her bite practice padded suit doesn’t have enough padding for him to practice on me!

7 pointsCould be, that if the Head was before not sat clean, it now thights more after your rework and in fact it‘s more tight and in result it’s more silent. if you feel its more silent, that‘s true and this should be a good sign, except you are as deaf like me.. 😂 Di nothing on the Horse but a bit prevention to be able to work in Winter. so i insulating my Part of the Barn on the inside. At least i built a Toolboard for my self hiding tools i search most time..😂 And built at least a quick mount able high bright LED Bar to have enough light on the Work zones.

6 pointsOwing a Wheel Horse 512 Diesel and an Onan powered 416-8 from my late father, which I want to restore in the future, I was searching for info and came along the forum. Found last week another Horse, 416-8 with a Kohler engine, with I bought for the mower as the mower of the diesel is in a bad condition. Herewith a picture of my 3 horses.

6 pointsJust around the corner from me there's a house going up on a hill side. Just a little different than your conventional type homes. it will have a two-story living space under the Quansett. Growing up in the Midwest there was a company building dome houses. Which could withstand tornado winds. And I already hit them up for cabinets l can build here at the Crib!

6 pointsSo one of the guys that I work with has been listening to me ramble on for a few years now about my WH tractors and how I use them and how the stable has grown. A few months ago, he told me that if I ever found another deal on a WH, then he would be interested. Well today was finally that day. He doesn't do FB Marketplace (just Craigslist), so when I saw this one on there this morning for $100, I sent the seller a message, because I was going to take it no matter what. I had a prior commitment and couldn't get there today by the time he wanted so I texted my work buddy and gave him the address while I played the go between the them both on Messenger. He is now the proud owner of a '86, 414-8. Now I just have work to get him on here!

6 pointsA strap hangs right on the HF tire machine for seating beads. The worst ones are the new tires ordered online since they strap them for shipping and they get distorted. The real redneck way is to use starting fluid and fire to seat the beads.

5 pointsGot the old 61 to match the 60 a little better some majic rubbing .

5 pointsMy son and I removed the deck from the C-145 and installed the SNOWBLOWER! My son is so excited! The snowblower has not run on anything since 1996. I have the original manual and sales slip for it. This is his work machine. We are painting a fender for it and some more implement pieces for the future. I will be putting that plastic fender that is on the tractor now in the classifieds section if anyone wants it. IMG_2036.MOV

4 pointsAs eric mentioned, after pulling the Valve and dry it upside down few hour‘s in the Sun there shall be no more gas Inside. i use the CO2 or Weldinggas on „ fresh Bottles“ after drainint until the Cut is that big, that the gas can freely blown. ( compared to a mig Welder) But i use mostly the „Waterversion“ for my own Safety. “reworked“ so few 5 kilo Propane bottles as a ministove. As long as the bottle is full, Gas outlet is higher than ignitionspeed, so only a Flame occurs outside but if the bottle goes empty on a warm day, and it is opened a bit longer when temp drops, air can be sucked into, that makes it dangerous. One spark and Kaboom if bottle is full of water, no air - gas ratio can occur, so no explosion can happen.

4 pointsOur transfer station metal recycling facility requires that all propane tanks have a minimum of 2 holes in them. Propane is heavier than air. If the valve assembly can be removed and the tank left upside down it WILL drain on it's own. Right the tank. Fill with water. There is no propane left in a tank that's been air drained then water filled. Fun side note: I don't know what they do nowadays but they used to have an employee (who's retired) that would shoot the tank bottom with a .357. 2 holes.....

4 pointsGot the Sr's other 1/2 of the hood sanded down to the original factory gel coat today. Thinking it really makes those original decals look like crap now. Gonna sleep on it tonight, but I'm thinking they're going to be gone by this time tomorrow.

4 pointsdrain it firstly completely, let it sat with open Valve in the Sun, that the Tank exceeds 10DegC fill it completely up with Water and close the Valve- firstly than begin the Cut. ( suggesting use an Accugrinder) That‘s definitively a mess, but the safest Way. organize a CO2bottle - a smaller bottle like for a fishtank Put a flow regulator on it, prespan it to 25l/ min connect it to lpg bottle and give it continusely a light preflow of CO2. CO2 is used to blow out the Water on the cut. No oxygene in the Tank while cutting - no booom. Cutted in the Past few Propane/ butane tanks that Way, But be aware it is a real Mess.. One Word - Please be extremely Carefully, one Mistake and - Boom.. I like to see you finalize you project.

4 pointsHere is a post from a little while ago My workbench is a bit different than most due to my profession. It is highly specialized for my needs and it is the culmination of a lifetime of learning and influence by those who inspired me. It is the most important tool in the shop and actually in my life. Without it nothing happens. It is the main tool for material preparation and assembly. It’s based mostly on a Shaker workbench design. It is dead straight, 16” wide and 12” long. It is immovable, weighing about 1500Lbs. It has 4 vises. Two Emmert Pattern makers vises, one at each end and two large Wiltons on the front, one on left a quick clamp and release. The largest Emmert’s rotation is foot operated. Top has 4 retractable bench stops, and hold fast collars throughout its length. It has adjustable height work support on front at both ends and traveling bench slave in center.Tool trough is an old wood gutter from a neighbor’s house. Base has splayed legs at back and its all mortise and tenon construction with top and front apron dovetailed into base. Edited April 2, 2019 by formariz

3 pointsI thought I got a good deal on this 312 as it runs excellent! I never noticed the deck lift linkage flaw until I put on the power bagger....... The left bushing support was warped out of shape very badly, someone must have been lifting something extremely heavy or they don't make them like they used to? Long story short it had to come apart the hard way! I took a lot of pictures in case my photographic memory just deletes files, lol! The dampener was questionable but I did put it back. Made sure to run the tractor idle and sand off any excess paint on the inner pulleys. The steering rod had issues at the bushing as well, made the usual repair and reinforced it. I cut a groove for the grip ring and fixed the collar on the steering shaft, same as the older units. Some basic wire & circuitry repairs along the way, but she starts and runs beautifully! The metal around the bushing just crushed like tin foil! The original removed in a couple hours, very strange assembly but at least not a hydro! The replacement has all the tin intact! Notice the lift assembly intact? Really didn't want to bend up the hood stand trying to remove the rock shaft. Looking into the tear down noticed the broken area around the steering rod bushing support. (Something about this tractor and supports?) The reinforcement after the repair, (I figured the area was engineered too thin to begin with) Orientation of the wires even tho' there are identifiers on the back of the gauges. The brake safety The clutch safety 30-yrs of rot! Primed & painted with a poly clear coat All the innards. Coming together fairly well, had restored the frame beneath and all parts during the rebuild. The controversial dampener? Installed and adjusted. Voila!

3 pointsThe seat addition to the bench also makes it perfect to use another one of my favorite vises mostly used for plane making or carving odd shaped items that need constant repositioning. It is held on the bench through one of the hold fast collars and it rotates 360 degrees. Jaws also swivel to hold odd shaped items.

3 pointsWorking on my tractor by the shop and all of a sudden I lost a little connector for the choke and it fell down into where the water flows through. When I looked down to pick it up this guy was staring back st me ! He was much bigger around than a silver dollar and did look mean!

3 pointsYa know Norm , thats not a bad idea! maybe I'll contact the government and see if I can't find one of their old buildings! that would make a great horse hut!

3 pointsI have bouts of swallowing difficulties and had the intake stretched a few times. Well the last time I had the exhaust scoped out all the way to the converter, I suggested that they do the intake at the same time, just do the top first. The nurse said that if I wake up with a $h!tty taste in my mouth they did it wrong.

2 points@Tractorhead I need to cut 4 of them. Am I correct in thinking if it does blow up with the first bunch of sparks it's probably not gonna?

2 pointsI've tried this and had both successes and failures. I now use tubes when mounting to avoid issues.
