I bought some nice 1/2 x 13 cap nuts to place on one of my Wheel Horse RJ’s Wheel Wright bolts! The threads stick out a little and I wanted to keep from getting my legs gouged when moving around the tractor. Plus cap nuts protect the thread ends and look good too! I also used a cap nut under a long seat carriage bolt on my 854 to keep from getting my hand gouged or scraped when reaching into the rear tool box!

Dont think I posted it here as I started a specific thread for it, but got my custom slapped together over the weekend! Over the last couple evenings I installed the parking brake setup, shifter plate and hitch, hooked up an old drag I acquired when picking up a trailer load of parts tractors, and put her to driveway duty yesterday for her shakedown run. Other than a plugged fuel petcock halfway through, she did a wonderful job. I also pulley'd this machine 5" engine/4" trans and love it! Low range is much more useful, wide open high 1st- light throttle 2nd are perfect working speeds, and high range 3rd is a blast if I need to get around quickly, like when my beer is empty or there is a wasp flying around my head

I have been painting mufflers for about 15 years and I have had little to no lasting success...until I tried this... it is rated to 2000 degrees and has a very special curing process. I did three mufflers this way about 3 years ago and they still look great today. I used the 2000 degree primer and coated with the paint over top. It comes in three colors currently including silver, black, and red. It is also available in a clear coat.

It's been close to 20 years since doing any painting or trans swap and now I find myself with 2 projects at the same time in 2 different States. The 310-8 and the 420. Taking my time and actually enjoying them both with no deadlines to meet, unlike at work. Thank you @squonk for the NAPA info on the seals for both tractors. A few pics for now.

We went on dock duty last Sunday. Hauled all the sections down the hill closer to the lake, gave them a wash with deck wash, sanded the deck boards, and just finished staining them this afternoon. Not sure how old the dock is, but is appears to be unfinished pressure treated lumber. It is 3' wide and 32' long. Took 2 1/2 gallons of stain. Tomorrow is a curing day for the stain and installing the Tommy Dock hardware. If all goes well, it will be in the water Friday.

Well the 753 has changed alot from a "Barn Find" a good friend gave me back in 2017. Different tires, a little rattle can paint job, wheel weights, new decals, different seat & cover, etc. It sure seems to turn some heads when I drive around the yard.

Not sure why the pics came out so grainy but it was shot in HD . Oh well , the sound(s) are the highlight !

What have I done on my WH today? I let me neighbor take her or a spin. I've been telling my crusty old retired engineer best friend neighbor about WH tractors for years. When he first saw my 310, he said, and I quote, "The Freakin' pedals are cast iron?!?!?" Yes sir, yes they are. He fell in love. This is his old crusty majesty, beer in shirt pocket, pulling back into my driveway after giving her a test drive.

inspired by 1970's Peterbilts and the fact I like to know whats going on... I was wondering what gauges you guys had retrofitted? I've drilled the panel ready I don't think you can have too many gauges dry run - so ignore the panel being reversed - plus theres a bit of metal behind that needs some surgery... Duplicate temp gauge soon to be fuel gauge. Might add a few switches, lights and Fuses for maximum effect.

My wife wants to have chickens. We can't have them where we live. As a joke a while back I bought a couple of metal chicken lawn decorations and planted them in a flower bed and waited for my wife to see them. Took a while but she got a good laugh out of it and named them after a couple of neighbor's that moved away that we miss. I found another one and didn't tell her again and she finally found it and joked they were multiplying. I named it Ralph after my retired next door neighbor engineer. Picked up a big ceramic Rooster on my way home the show. She named him Homer as he's what you see when you get home. It's our 30th Anniversary this weekend so I got her a coop and we made a little display in hope that someone sees it and turns us in for having chickens. @stevasaurus thought of The Dead Chicken Society but since these were never alive in the first place I un gruesomed it a bit. Hope to get some good laughs out of it. We'll do more landscaping after it cools off!

Hi all. Been playing with the exhaust parts I got this week. Made a flange for the head and an end plate for the silencer barrel. Silver soldered the tubing in which will be fine for the temperature involved.

They were also available in 1978. This is my dad’s. I have it now. The story goes that because of the Kohler twin reliability issues Wheel Horse decided to use the Briggs twin instead and had to modify the hood to make it fit. My dad installed the metal seat pan a year after he bought it when the original broke. This has been a great tractor and has nothing done to it but fluid changes and some tires. I painted the wheels when I got it and dad would always rattle can the tractor here and there any time it got a scratch on it. It looks good from about 20 feet but you can tell when you get closer.

Yup. That's what its supposed to look like. The throttle goes in the lever thing on the right of the disc like on my 867.

Mike, the two wires on the S/G light are supposed to be insulated from ground and one-another in the socket. Like many other things on our tractors the ravages of time can take their toll on the socket. Easy for these wires to come into contact with each-other. If they touch or the insulation between the two parts in the socket breaks down the light will be on anytime the key is on and the socket has no ventilation. The lamp # should be 57. I would suggest you buy a Cole-Hersee PL 20RC000 and replace the old one. It is a direct replacement item.

I have some. Throttle cable connects to circular disc on the stem of the governor shaft. There are several holes in that disc.

First things first ... it needs to be mentioned that you MUST get ALL of the paint off that is on that muffler now. Right down to bare metal. If you don't do that it's going to keep baking itself off of the muffler from the inside. I'm with @PeacemakerJack We have a pretty wicked leaning preference towards Rust-Oleum products in general. So of course we've tried their barbecue paint. That's what's on the Cinnamon Horse. We have also used it on the stove that Trina redid for the upstairs of the house. That's been through one heating season and still looks great. As mentioned above it is important to cure it in the way that is dictated on the spray can or your results may vary. We've also tried a high heat silver of some sort. That worked good as well for the Pony Horse.

I have done in the past, just wanted to get on the road so never bothered changing, but it gets uncomfortable after five hours.

Well you were all correct !!!!! They multiply... Took my van and trailer and picked up a B-100 with Hydro today... looks pretty clean and runs exceptionally well, only issue I could find was a weeping rear axle seal. I am sure I will be asking advice on changing both while its apart. I probably paid a little too much at 425.00 but Horses are scarce in the Northeast in good shape so I jumped right on this one.... first Craigslist alert that was a reasonably good buy. Let me tell you how much I love my trailer for this stuff, lower the ramp drive them in and strap them down.....and off for home... Mike B

Well, this job is finished...ish. I could have spent more time plucking 1/4 pound saplings with a 30,000 lb piece of machinery, but there was a check engine light and ECU code that cut my work short unfortunately. I left my slightly broken disc there along with spring tine harrows in case they wanted to pull them around, but they have an 80 hp tractor coming with various farm attachments soon too.

I don‘t like too much infos nobody needs or even the mickeymouse tv dashboards they actual built in the new Cars. so called infotainment. If your car fails, you don‘t get any usable info‘s from them. I still hate it in Cars or Trucks also. seen these day‘s a gardentractor in a hardware store with such a mickeymouse home kino dash.😂 felt 2 min. before all info‘s available. That‘s my reason i just drive aged Cars 20 +years i like a speedometer, tacho and oilgauge instead a engine defect bulb but that‘s it. The mass of beepy‘s and blinky‘s in the new Cars only annoy‘s me. Felt thousands on infoscreens without senseful information nobody needs mostly distract the driver from the road - not my World Keep it stupid simple, that‘s my World I think 3 or maybe 4 are really helpful and important to know about the whole Status. hourmeter is allway‘s senseful. Voltmeter check the Voltage while charge Oiltemp makes also sense in my opinion to see if engine overheats on clogged airpath At least maybe a RPM meter if you have revolution depending Attachments like a Genny. A ignition / starter key an external lightswitch and if an electric PTO is on, another separate PTO Switch. a fuelgauge can be senseful if you have a metall tank and larger areas to drive but also 2 Drainers in upper and lower section drilled into Tank and a piece of transparent silicon hose between them do the same trick, but completely without electricity. You still have the Advantage you can see how clean your fuel is. a benefit with simplest technic. Too much gauges means too much Wires and that just complicates the error scenario, here i‘m with @pfrederi But if you like Gauges, you can add also a quick coupled RPM gauges for each Blade rotation A GPS to know where you are, Maybe a cellphone with some Blutooth Sensors and a digital dash.

Been playing trying to make some cylinder end caps for a friend who is an air gun enthusiast. No caps to copy just an M24 x 1 thread to cut on the lathe and some way of using an O ring seal. Looks ok but apparently will not hold pressure. Maybe the seal is not compressing enough. Never said I was an engineer.

Well I took a hose to it while it was in the back of my truck. I dont think it has been cleaned in 30 yrs. Grass, leaves, and nests everywhere. I got what I could get to but its far from clean. I had to take it to my friends house as my garage is full. After we got it out of the back of my truck I fired it up. That Kohler Magnum runs perfect. Its going to need new air filter as it is packed full of debris. Change the oil. Not sure if I will change the rear end. Also is that gear oil or motor oil in the tranny? I think I found the issue with the deck but I am not sure of the part number or what you call it. Its a little L shaped rod that seems to pass through a little trunnion at he back of the deck. It is broken at the treads. In the photo of the deck, top of the photo but the rear of the deck you can see that rod. Ill have to get one of those. Also the clutch I have to find the sweet spot on the pedal in order to shift gears. The brakes work but the parking brake wont engage. Its all original paint except for the wheels. It is going to clean up nice. I am only going to paint the deck. Paint on the deck is coming off in big sheets. I am going to have to part with one. I cant keep 4. the Speedanza, the Lambert, the C-161 or this 416-8..... ugh .... I need a bigger garage !!!!
