A couple of our hiking friends stopped by this weekend. Neither had ever been on a tractor. After hiking and visiting the dog was about do We're now enjoying a pit fire burning some old scraps from projects.

Oh yeah there was a few tractors there as well. The line up that Jim, Cindy & I had. The guy with the Challenger had a little fun lighting up the tires on his car. He put on very impressive smoke show. When he was done Jim said "get the Rat Rod out & show him how it's done on a ." I could only get a one wheel peel but still respectable. It was great to go to a show and see old friends as well as meet some new ones. Hopefully WHX24 & Snoop@ICI will add a few more pictures.

Finally got the engine mounts installed today... That was a 2 day project < ugh> . Big difference I suggest anyone who still has the rubber mounts to change them to the soild mounts. Got the C running better then it looks and I have to say... It looks pretty good too !!!

Painted some parts for the 753 today, not gonna be a show tractor by no means, dont want it so pretty I'm afraid to work it, but wanted to freshen it up some for Krystal to pull the boys behind on the trailer for the 4th of July parade. I was gonna drive it but Rodger asked me to drive either his restored Farmall M or his Farmall Regular this year

An establishment called The Wagon Wheel had a tractor & small engine show yesterday. It was not too far away so @WHX24 & I decided to attend. We also had the pleasure of meeting @Snoop@ICI and his son. They were having some issues with a transmission so we suggested that they should bring it to the show with them. Jim & I did an evaluation on the tranny & think that we have is issue figured out so hopefully they will be back up and running soon. Well I can't tell you guys about a show and not add pictures so I better get on it. I'll start with some small engine pics.

A few people brought their cars to show off as well. This old Dodge has been upgraded with a Cummins diesel engine A very rough Opel that was for sale. I had to take a pic of it because you just don't see them in my area. A nicely done Ford hot rod pick up. Some early Ford cars. This car makes my heart throb!! It is extremely nice from every angle. Then there was this truck. First time that I have seen a hit/miss engine in a vehical. It only has a top speed of 10mph but it sure is a head turner.

A few days ago I posted that I swapped the 2.5" engine pulley with a 3" on my 854 to get just a fuzz more speed. I had to up the belt size to 71" and it worked like a charm. While I was happy with the results I never am willing to leave well enough alone so I decided to swap out the transmission pulley with a 3.5". I found a great place to get just about any pulley you want. usapulley.com The pulley was delivered yesterday and I made the swap this morning. I went back to the stock 70" belt. Perfect!! For pulling the grandkids around the paths 2nd gear is just right. 3rd gear pretty much gets with the program. Curiosity got me on the internet to find a calculator to figure RPM by just punching in the numbers. I used 2000 engine RPM which is about what I run it at. Stock 2.5" engine and 4" input = 1250rpm 3" engine and 4" input = 1500rpm 3" engine and 3.5" input = 1715rpm That comes out to almost a 40% increase. Ok, ok, I've got too much time on my hands but I've been instructed to take it easy for a few days, I figure swapping pulleys is taking it easy.

Lol such a small show i think you about covered it Dan! We did get a little seat time to a neighboring campground. Dan and I had eight horses all told so had the GT corner dominated. Maybe only ten other GT brands tops. Only two big tractors ther but yes nice to hear all the hit n miss noise. A nice H&M planer set up. I was in love with this Simplecity for a bit & a nice B. Cindy's 702 got a look of looks... even more than the rat rod I think ... to consol Dan got seat time! Yah he wanted to do a burn out on it too but Cindy Speaking of crash and burns Dan had a little incident when loading up the RR... don't worry everyone rushed over to make sure the tractor was ok! Sorry no pics..

Brought the 1 owner 414-8 back from ... Just needs a bit of paint on the fender pan and hood and a good washing and it'll be ready for a new owner maybe. 20200614_113403.mp4

I don't feel that it's an age issue but it's absolutely an imbalance issue. This is a clear indication of an imbalance in the early/late model Horse mix. The way to rectify the situation is this: Count all present Horse herd and separate count by generation type. Add ((NOT subtract!!!)) appropriate numbers of horses to generations seeming low in count. Recount to verify correct balance. Enjoy.

Today was a nice day for a trail ride so pulled out 3 tractors. After the 312-8 did mowing duty I figured why not take the C-120 out on the trails and check out the Cabin. The Phoebes love building their mud nest under the overhangs on top of the window trim. While taking pics I noticed the C-120 looked like it needed a WD-40 rubdown so I headed back under the shade tree and applied a coat, as @peter lena says, feed the paint. As the 417-8 had nothing to do I thought it would be a good place to set the ice cold Coors on the hood. One last thing I did was to check the fuel in the 120 because I had not used it for a few months. I got off the seat and tilted the seat to check the fuel guage and guess what, the fuel tank is under the hood, does that mean I am getting old or own to many 3,4 and 500 series WH's .

What a Crazy Dax. Today Mart‘l stop over and scream in his loudest Voice out of his huge Tractor - STEFAN, COME OUT WE HAVE TO TALK. i thought oh oh, maybe not a good Sign, i have heard he stops the Cows and want to rent his Land. I feared he want‘s my little Land back, but than i see his daughter was at him and i wonder what happen. Ya told me ya want a bit more space, nooooow My daughter meant we shall make a Gentleman agreement. I asked what kind of agreement ? Nooooow i Need my time in the forrest and i‘m tyred to mow this Area, here and along the House and you do it on your side continousely and clean. I have also heared you be realy upright and help others without any questions, even a Valley ahead. - i like that, that is the right spirit, so that‘s the reason i‘m here. Ok, listen, i wanna offer you, if you mow that for me you can have the whole Area where the Tree stay‘s for your purpose free of charge. This area have about 100 squaremeters - you can use it for whatever you want do with it. Plow, seed potatoes, garlic, flowers or even pumpkins or just simply mow it. you just have to mow the Way’s to my house and between the two sheds - did we have a Deal??? And in about 2 years i clean an bigger area of 70 squaremeters in the front Shed if you like. The cost is (really cheap price) for you. What a question, yes! The area appears smaller on the pict than it really is.

Of course you have. Because you can. Today, while working on the back end of the 310-8, I wanted to cleanup the rusty phillips pan head screws for the shifter panel and side covers. Wire wheeling small screws hurts after a while. Right? So I found a 3 1/2 long piece of scrap 1/2" alum round stock that I had already turned down a bit on one end, chucked it up in the lathe and drilled and tapped 1/4-20. With a jam nut, I could easily smash the screw heads into the wire wheel with good control and clean them up good. I'm thinking I might make a 5/16" and 3/8" too. Back in the day I'd routinely sacrifice my fingers to the wirey gods. Not so much anymore.

It was planed this Year, but because of Covid some things changed. Also my permit to USA was rejected. So i must drink that Barrel myself, without the surround of the Redsquare Buddies and the Garden Tractor Mafia. 😎 But i look forward to next year, in hope to repeat that happening. Maybe i must foundate a chapter „Bavaria“ of the Garden Tractor Mafia here. 😂 So i have maybe next year an foundated permit to Travel

Spent all day down in the forward void space (basically a tank that never gets liquid in it) chipping rust and wire brushing it. Not the most fun you can have, that's for sure!

Been out in the front yard today cutting and cleaning this old red bud kept cracking limbs hanging down so I finished cutting it up. Might try and put a couple pieces on the lathe to see how they turn.

Never thought of trying the grease...that's a good idea. I usually remove the tires before paint, but these are so old I was afraid of tearing them. But I figure for a quick respray of a working tractor it'll be fine

Sorry to hear that. Sometimes it's best to just walk away for a bit and get a different perspective, see what comes to you. Keep us posted. And if your telescope restoration happens to involve any photos at all, I'm sure nobody here would object to seeing them.

Quick update. The tractor is mine now. It was originally bought new in 1986 by my grandfather. It is a B7200 with a 60" belly deck, currently sitting at ~1,400 hours. My grandfather bought it new, and sold it when he bought a new, bigger Kubota. After passing almost 2 years ago, the bigger kubota went to my dad. After changing owners a few times, my dad caught wind it was for sale, and bought it for me. It needs a few little things like a new deck belt and a little TLC, but for 34 years old, it looks pretty dang good. Starts right up (after doing the glo plugs) and purrs beautifully. As far as I know, it hasnt ever had any big attachments on it (like a loader). Only the occasional york rake, and mostly mowing duty. Oh, and I have the original manual, sales brochure, and signed bill of sale from 1986 with my grandfather's name on it.

Needs a little paint work on the fender pan and top of the hood but not to bad for 30+ years of 1 owner work.

We didn't twist your arm and make you buy a Wheel Horse. If you are considering coming to the show next year you might want to make a payment to the Wheel Horse Mafia. A cast of good German beer should take care of the problem.

So if it's stock top speed is 6 or so you're around 8.4 ish. I think an 854 that does that is cookin right along pretty well.

Get the ends sealed for drying. If you turn it wet plan on cracking. A few I have tried wet went to the trash. Here's a few turned dry.

FIL has a Kubota diesel ZTR (326) 10+ years old fires up right no matter the weather. I have a Kioti CK20 built in South Korea by Deadong it is nearly 20 years old still fires up no matter the weather also same engine is in my 4 year old Mahindra eMax ... Everyone fusses about expensive replacement parts for an Onan IMO this is what will be the issue with owning an older Kubota/Yanmar ect diesel.

I did a little more work on the PTO brake... it fits fine and set at the 12 thou gap in the manual it works just great. Obviously I have no deck fitted but at present it stops the PTO bell from spinning when the engine stops. Mick

Found this one today while the dash screws were a-painting. Please don't put a cotter pin in here. Especially not a too-small cotter pin. I guess I figured out why my lift was still cranky after lubing it up good.

I love your playing card trick! And if you want to be completely sure no paint gets on the tires, give em a good coat of grease before you stick the cards in. After the paint cures, wipe the grease off. No paint.

I just got a 42" RD deck for the C-160 Took the deck to @squonk so he could use his air impact to remove the blades they were that tight. Sharpen and balanced the blades, installed new deck and PTO belts, and mounted it to the tractor and took it for a test mow. It's nice and quiet and cut well. Who knows I just might get rid of my zero turn.

You need a round hood EB....thats what really hooks newbies to ... you know you want one why fight it?

I had it up and running today, but not good. It is chuffing smoke like crazy and the plug was all oiled up. I was kind of figuring this would be the result. I have some decisions to make now. Not sure if I will see about taking it to .030” over, look for a short block, or put it up for sale. For now it is going into mothballs because I have another big honking telescope restoration I need to get done.

Done a bit of clearing up for a neighbour. Cut a some sieves down a couple of weeks ago, with the C-81 and finger bar. Today my neighbour and I gathered them up ready to burn. Thought I'd give the Black Horse some exercise, as it hadn't been run for a couple of months at least. Was rather reluctant to start, but eventually we went next door with trailer in tow. In the field the Black Horse started acting up. Would run and idle fine, but if shut down would be hesitant to restart. Took it home and got the Sears/Roper for trailer duty. Lost count of the trailer loads, but quite a few. Photo's of last load.

Maybe buy her something at the same time so she'll lose track of the horses.! I think my wife has finally come to her senses on these things. She actually told me one she ran into that was for sale at one of her patients house.

This is her running today, much smoother and more controllable. The shaking is the cutter bar zooming back and forth causing the machine to sway. Nothing I can do about that but it cuts and runs so I am delighted.

The deck is bent in wards and I can see where the blade once was hitting on the metal in that area. p.o. probably ran the front anti-scalp roller into a big root, or something, that bent it backward. This isn't so tough to bend back to approx where it should be. 1) Flip upside-down...in the grass. 2) remove center blade, if wanted. 3) use a BIG post mall to pound the front edge of the deck back into position...may take a few applications. While it is flipped over, you can do the same with the baffles, but use a smaller hammer...and a bakcing block...to pound it back to position. p.s...if you do this on a concrete floor, the deck will slide around...it won't slide much in the grass. The center spindle is the one that is bent the most To correct this, you will likely have to remove the spindle from the housing. 1) find a STRAIGH 2x4 ...about 4' long. 2) lay it flat in the upside-down deck, straddling the 2 outer spindles. 3) look for where the 2x4 'rocks' on the high spots of the deck shell. 4)hold a ball-peen hammer (or block of HARD wood) on the high spot(s) and smack that with a BIGGER hammer to flatten the deck back to a flat position. Again...m,ay take a few applications. Don't hit so hard as to crack the sheet metal ....it'll bend back to shape, little by little.
