15 pointsGoodMorning, All of You.😊 Look, i been thinking this over since Dan & Crew left; it's been raining since yesterday... And i still cant find the words for a proper thankyou. So many thoughts; things rattling 'round in my skull...you know? I spent the rest of the day after everyone left straightening the garage to fit everything again, listening to tunes, having the ocasional smoke; just sitting n looking/staring at the 'General'. Think i was stunned. Know now i was n still am. These kinds of things...they are foreign to me. Especially since being alone again, i...it... Just boggles my mind. I have no words. Least, none good enough to convey all inside me; what i was, and still am feeling. I had such a good time. Seeing Dan n Jim again. Meeting Cindy n Joel (i sure hope im remembering the right names). Talking n teasing about WheelHorses n Simplicitys (lol, inlike tjose old ones, too). I mean, y'all even helped me figure out my biggest issue that i kno of to date with my 160, which, btw guys, i plan to hope get tended to today to get it at least back up n running (And you bet Jim, i wont 4get; if it ever needs, or i decide its time, for a new home, You have 1st dibs😊 ). Dan; Jim...all of you involved...Lord YES, the General is Beautiful; a beautiful piece of machinery and example of everyone's fine craftsmanship. Ill take good care of it Jim😊; it has a 4ever home, with me, until my time is done. Id find it a good home b4 that; someone who will appreciate WheelHorses...but idc how hard up i get, id never sell it. Thats a promise i can n will keep. But this post isnt about that tractor itself. Its a symbol, to me, n represents so much more to me. For that, i dont have proper words, or anything to offer but thanks with all my heart. If i could ask one thing, itd be that maybe someday i meet more of you that helped with it, in whatever way. I kno there is that special decal (I LOVE THAT ONE), but i bet there are others. To all of you, thankyou. If you chime in here or on the other thread of Dan's, ill see it. I wont add any pics; wanna let Dan's thread finish 1st. But y'all will be seeing the General again, i promise. And Dan... I never was one to have lots of real friends around. I sincerely hope you know i now count you, and others now because of you...very real Friends. Even maybe like Family. If there is ever ANYTHING Ican do for you; any of you here, please ask, n ill try. Bless You; all of You. ❤

14 pointsYour more than welcome Jason. One thing you need to understand is this is what we like to do aside of showing our tractors at shows which unfortunately is not going to happen much this year. That said we seem to have a bit on more time on our hands not getting ready for shows so your little project fit in real well. Not speaking for Dan as he is already a master restorer it personally gives me a chance to bring my skills up another level. So there was something in it for both of us. As I already told you already all we ask of you is to work it and mantain it properly. I have no doubt you will. I don't remember much these days but I do remember when we picked it up Jason said if we can't do anything with it we can keep it. Thanks for the offer Jason but Dan and I are both somewhat tractor heavy.... not that we wouldn't take in another orphan but it looks better in your barn! Also keep in mind why we cannot take payment for our work. As Dan always says if we do it turns our fun into jobs and then it's not fun anymore.

12 pointsAs some of you may know, the company I work for has 2 divisions: a collision center and a recycling center. I work in the collision center which overlooks the recycling yard; about 10:30 this morning I was carrying a door out to our scrap pile when I spied with my little eyes : All for 3 cents a pound! Loaded it up, took it home, gave it a bath. Don't know anything more than that, yet! (and I have the missing hubcaps too)

12 pointsTrina, Meeha, and I met a friend and went for a super awesome bushwack hike on the mountains across the street from home. 6 miles of rough woods walking. It was FANTASTIC. We found a 900+ acre conservation area about 2 miles away that I'd NEVER EVEN HEARD OF!!! Absolutely excellent day!!! A small cave near the top. Maybe 4 feet deep. I've tried twice before to find the actual peak of Bill Merrill mountain. Both times we were fairly close. Yesterday I finally found the rock cairn that marks the highest point. Here's a video showing the valley we live in. Our house would be below the ridge near the beginning of the video. One of the many boulders left behind as the mountains were vacated by the ice glaciers a few thousand years ago. For scale note Trina to the left of the rock. Her pic of the same, from close up. Walking through rough forest and we popped out on this old cart/tote road. It's now an access road for the conservation area. One of several stone walls we found. This area is known to be farm country from the late 1700s on. One of the walls was 8-12 feet wide on one side which means that farm was in operation for a looong time. A little vernal pool in a valley between the peaks. Moving moss in a small stream

10 pointsWell I finally went and picked up my freebie! It is a 1976 D-160. She runs but a screw got dropped in the right cylinder so i took the head off Eww! I took the tiny chunks out and put the head back on for now till i get new head gaskets ordered. I am going to be gentle and clean up the piston and head and run her. I started her and ran her for just about 30 seconds she didn't smoke or knock. I am super thankful for the guy that gave this to me. It came from around Columbus Ohio it was a 3 and a half hour trip one way and worth every penny in gas! It has plastic weights i took off look like they have been on for a long time. the hub looks new. The more i look at it the more it looks like it wasn't used very much. I will restore down the road! I will be replacing the front tires tomorrow and a tub in the one back tire. then to tackle piston head situation and starter solenoid issue. I can jump the starter but i hear no click when trying to use the key. i figure either the switch is bad or the solenoid is. Also anybody have a deck or snow plow i could buy near avilla indiana? Also can someone point me in the right direction for some LED replacement light bulbs for this beast? I'm going all led when i'm done. I love this thing a lot!! I am very Thankful for my tractor folks i have gotten to know over the years and the folks that knew my late dad. I have had it rough since he took his life in 2016 specially with family that quit talking to me for no good reason. Working on this old iron and being able to talk to all of you enthusiasts makes me feel better and i like to impress folks with my skills and my knowledge of history i am taught by all of you! Any tricks and advise you give me will be very appreciated!

9 pointsHi, peeps. I've been gone a while, it was a tumultuous year. But I'm in a new house and ready to play with the ponies. I added an electric fuel pump in the D200, I found that the fact that the tank was well below the level of the fuel pump, the pump would lose prime a lot. But the pump worked and I played in the mud with it. Has anyone else added an electric fuel pump to a tractor? What does yours sound like? Mine sounds like a starter clicking or a relay clicking. I wired the positive to the yellow wire coming out of the ignition switch. Where have you wired yours? And I am a satisfied customer of the hydro pedal kit! Finally got it installed and couldn't be happier. Fuel pump. Sounds strange. IS that clicking sound normal? Mud! Mud!!!!!!! Tractors have been running amok in the driveway. No discipline...

9 pointsHoping someone can help me find our lost 520-H it was parked at a recycling center while I was paying for some scrap titanium for a SR-71 I'm restoring - and when I stepped out of the office it was gone this is not the first time we've had to search for this 520-H - there was a previous time when I removed a wheel cover and it became upset and later slipped out of the garage and hid in the woods ... maybe not coincidentally I just recently removed a wheel cover ... hmmm ... ??? ... attached a picture of the tractor - and a picture where it was last parked hope you can help - thank you in advance !

8 pointsIt‘s outstanding how here help is gained in the Red Square. On the Beginning i thinkered what is RedSquare? That is also still more an example what i get from this place, even if i‘m thousands of Km far, it give me more the response of good Buddy‘s and not the feeling i’m in just another Forum. That also was my personally reason, to see ya all face to face at the Big Show this year what sadly not will happen, because of Covid. few Day‘s before, i be asked, How RedSquare can be defined? It‘s a respectfully place where help and even help to others together is in foreground, i feel Accepted and well surrounded. It is a place where you don‘t must read between the lines. Never before i where in a Forum, where such a high level of knowledge is combinated with the Heart of the Fella‘s and members. That all mixed with some Fun is my definition of RedSquare. And i be proud i can be here. The sad is the distance between, but therefore RedSquare exists. Again thanks to all Admins, Mods and also all Members for the friendly Ambiente. And Jason , Have a lot of Fun with the General. I hope for some Stories with him !👍

8 pointsWOW what a great bunch. I can’t say enough that I’m so glad I joined here. These type of stories with such great love for the people and the brand is just out of this world. I never would have imagined anything as great as what I just finally had time to read and the results of such dedication of the people on here. This truly is the best!!!!!!!!! I can only imagine what feelings @12Horse Paladin Is feeling.

8 pointsI spent some time today kicking more "shoe man" repairs out of my 701. Today I tackled this um "repair". This goofy mount was done to raise the hood up in the front. Why did the hood need to be jacked up?? This was my question when I saw it. Well it was done to compensate for the ignition coil being mounted in the wrong location. The coil should be mounted in front of the engine to a bracket that is bolted on to the oil pan bolts. The correct mount for the coil was missing so I made a new one out of 10ga metal. I also added weld nuts on the inside where the coil will bolt on, this will make bolting the coil on much easier. Unrelated - but while I was waiting for the paint to dry on my new bracket, I grabbed some 3/16 round stock and made a new charcoal grate for my grill. The old one was getting pretty thin. Sorry, back on subject. Mounted the new coil bracket on to the oil pan bolts, mounted the coil to the bracket, and got the wire stretcher out to make the wires reach the new location. When I get around to restoring this tractor I will have to do some thing about the extremely over sized hole that a PO drilled in the frame where the hood bolt goes. For now at least the hood can sit where it is supposed to.

7 pointsActually thinking about doing it in steel. That way I won't have to worry about again in life time. Lucky for me that I can run faster scared than she can mad.
-
7 pointsAll I really did is throw a hub or two across the country and toss a bit of ridiculous banter. I got paid back for both of those in their own ways. I can't even begin to express the amount of knowledge I have gained and the friends I've made because of little red horse tractors. Just my way of paying back a few people for a few things, so to speak.
-
7 pointsJason, I don’t think I had any real input other than virtual ribbing of y’all WI boys, wishing there was a posse here on this side of the pond that was as tight knit and active with the horses! I knew that they had “taken you under their wing” a bit, but didn’t know it was to this extent! I hope that some day sooner than later I can see the General in person hopefully at a show or plow day! Kev

5 pointsFeel free to post all of the pictures that you want Jason. After all it's your baby, I'm glad that you're happy with it. I'm not always big on words. Just wanna say that it was a pleasure to work on the General. Even more than that, it has been great getting to know you. It's always great to make a new friend. I would also like to thank all who helped the General have a new lease on life and most of all help show that good things can happen to good people. I really hope you enjoy your Bronco every time you use it.

5 pointsFound out another one of our favorite tractor shows is cancelled.... got ticked off and went to the bar... sickel bar that is.... got the wobble box put together.... i think....now just to figure out how this pile of parts goes together. Thinkin this thing is gonna be a pita to put on a tractor so we all know what that means! Shus up ... she don't havta know it will fit on one we have...
-
5 pointsAgain, this is amazing! So cool what you’ve all done together to make this idea a reality!
-
5 pointsSo that's the "Warranty"? You shoulda been a lawyer... But on a serious note - Way cool what you guys accomplished!!!
-
5 pointsDan's wife says he can't tie into this tractor until a new roof is on her house. I told him to hand her a hammer and let him know how it's going..... then run and duck... @PeacemakerJack get ready to sling some shingles.. can't let this roofing nonsense get in the way of a nice 701 resto! Nice thing getting cobblements out of the way beforehand makes a resto go better!
-
5 pointsthe man that says I use my hoods for a welding table... should’a mounted a vice on Cindy’s flame ride...
-
5 pointsAs I promised here are some pictures of the engine installed and the tractor reassembled.
-
4 pointsI should have some pictures soon of the RM 367 deck I'm rebuilding. But in the meantime, I'll share a picture of my boys and me prepping the front yard for sod. The boys were my weights for the drag. And the 867 pulled beautifully!

4 pointsMay he think he can hide the Coil from rain and moisrure, oooor he use it on a large Trail to woke himself sometimes by grab quickly onto... 😂😂
-
4 pointsNo lack of logic. If the coil is on the front of the engine how are you supposed to replace it without getting out of the seat?
-
4 pointsI finally got around to putting this tall stack back on the Cinnamon Horse. I had the rain flapper on there but this engine doesn't idle low enough for it to make any kind of a tink tink tink sound and it was exactly in the position where it would blow exhaust right back in my face if I was in forward motion, for much of the ride. This is the same piece of pipe I've had on a couple of different tractors now. It's a bathroom floor drain S pipe 1/2 that I modified to work. It even has a side benefit of being slightly quieter and deeper toned. Trina and her mom are down in the forest splitting wood while I run back and forth with the orange dumping trailer getting the split wood out. 10 cube trailer and pulled 7 loads out today. 3 loads here in front of the shed. The other 4 a few feet away.

4 pointsGotta feeling his employer has an apparatus for bending metal. Put on one of Dan's seat elevators and tightened up the steering on the 753. Also installed the rebuilt S/G. She gotta go topless till Dan does a little repair on the hood.
-
3 pointsI am here mowing one acre of lawn on foot chasing this damn mower so I lose weight and you guys keep posting this stuff. Is there no mercy? Please!

3 pointsNothing wrong inside your transmission if all you say is true. That is what you should have. I think Dan nailed it...you got a hub spinning on the axle. Jack it up and use a black marker to check. Draw a line across the axle and hub. Don't forget, you have a key in the input pulley of the trans also...if it is not a hub.
-

-
3 pointsI would start by looking at your rear wheel hubs. Check to see if you sheared a key on one of them.
-
3 pointsI think it’s actually just a pit bike. 100 cc, automatic clutch. They will learn how to foot shift, balance, etc. if it works out, we’ll look for other bikes with clutches.
-
3 pointsLucky man - Lucky kids!!! Is that a KX 80? Brings back some fun memories...Used to race the 100 cc MX class around Michigan from 1978 - 81... I was a Suzuki kid though...RM 100's...
-
3 pointsI think they have a case of being interested in any thing with wheels & an engine. There is a slight possibility that they got that from their parents.
-
3 pointsAnd the saga continues... the girls asked grandpa if they can ride the dirt bike that’s here still after they moved out 3 years ago. “Make sure you wear a helmet and you can get it running!” we have good spark, but the fuel system is in terrible shape! The carb is soaking in Berryman’s and is looking great... all but the needle valve is stick closed. I’ll keep working on that with them!
-
3 pointsI like stacks! Pipe fittings, some clamps, some support here and there and a good imagination... you’ll be stacked in no time!
-
3 pointsMay want to contact @jimkemp. He does the stack mufflers...
-
3 pointsI’m working on my exhaust and I want to put a vertical exhaust on it. Like the big farm tractors. Does anyone know how to do that and what parts I need. I’m new to this

3 pointsBeautiful scenery, and amazing to see change on both a geological time scale and a human one. In Derbyshire near where I live we have a national park and some of the dry stone walls have to be seen to be believed, they go up some of the steepest hillsides you can imagine. The work to build them must have been immense, and now they are more or less redundant. Just reminders of when land was more precious. I will dig out some shots of our walks, but they are not much compared to your big country. But they are beautiful in such a small chunk of rock called England. Mick

3 pointsIts a coincidence that the Phantom was one of my favourite planes as a kid too. I made models and saw it at the local air show at RAF Finningley which is now a civilian airport. I used to see tons of English electric Lightenings too as we were near Lincolnshire where a lot of wartime airfields were still active with the military. Best plane of all was the Vulcan V bomber, never get over seeing those fly. I think my next silhouette has to be a wheelhorse tractor.

3 pointsIn my opinion the hood slots were a styling treatment In the case of some models they came with either depending. The 500 series had both. The 312a had louvers but the other 300 series I've had solid hoods. As Lee points out the cooling air in the air cooled models flows left to right as seen from the operators station.Put the hood on that suits you.It really won't affect anything.
-
3 pointsNo a lot of 312's didn't have the slots. The engine cooling air all comes in at the flywheel and exits the back of the engine.
-
3 pointsThe 701 that I purchased last fall came with this belt guard on it. Not only was it the wrong guard but it was obviously hacked up and unacceptable in my opinion. To remedy the issue I grabbed a piece of 16ga sheet metal and laid out a new guard. The front mounting tab and the lower belt brake were made from 10ga metal. Then a few bends and some welding to get to the finished product. A final fit shows that my work was a success. Nothing left but to throw some paint at it.
