These were seeds I planted last spring. Now I need the smaller pots for the 50 or so Acorns I got from my red oak last fall and kept in the refrigerator all winter. Thye are just about all sprouting.

9 pointsTook advantage of being stuck at the house (or rather the shop in this case) and worked on this Craftsman today. A few weeks back a friend of mine came by the shop and asked me if I wanted this old mower his boss had, he had been trying to get it running with no luck and they were tired of messing with it and didn't want to spend any more money on it. So I brought it home and changed the oil, replaced the carburetor as they stripped the threads holding the bowl on, and it still wouldn't start, all I could get it to do was turn over and backfire loudly. Dug a little deeper and discovered a sheared flywheel key. Finally got the key in this week, so got it put back together this morning. They sent me with new blades for it when I picked it up. Discovered a shot spindle when installing the new blades, so a new spindle and pulley has been ordered and should be here in a few days. Took the tractor itself out and drove it around the block, seems to run well and the transmission feels good. Hopefully with a new spindle, new belts, and a bath she'll be ready to go up for sale to finance other projects.

9 pointsa few weeks ago I got a text to pickup a free wheelhorse. I picked up all the parts yesterday. the PO said the trans was making bad noises. they had it all ripped apart. this morning I decided to bolt it all back together. I don't know trans seemed find to me. I did notice the belt guard was rubbing against the drive pulley, also the brake band was full of mud and grit. swapped out the band, adjusted the belt guard. fired it up and drove it around. I didn't notice any issues. so I made the call to them, told them take it back, they still don't want it. so I guess I am stuck with it. it definitely has the @pullstart crew look it.

8 pointsHi from over the pond. Corona fest 5th April 2020 first one & (hopefully) the last one. Lovely sunny day, good company ( me & hubby), tea & biscuits, and some good machines to look at in a lovely garden. Who could wish for more as things are world wide. Do hope you all over there are keeping your chins up and that you enjoy the photos.

8 pointsI've gotten a couple requests in the past to do a longer video showing our forest pathways. This is 6 minutes of just some weirdo from Maine driving through the trees...

8 pointsWell the valve clearances were ok. Also after lifting the head, I could see on inspection of the valve seats and valve heads, all was ok there. No sign of burn or damage. With the carb' being removed to check the valve clearances, I spun the engine to see how the fuel pump performed. A good spurt of fuel shot out at each revolution. So that was ok. Nailed everything back together and tried starting. Engine eventually fired up but was surging. Though on low rev's was smoother. Bit of trying different positions of the governor spring and then it hit me. Earlier I'd checked the governor arm position on the spindle. Guess what? When setting it yesterday, I'd turned the spindle the wrong way. Clockwise instead of anticlockwise. Rectified that and the surging decreased. Well it would' wouldn't it! Played around with the mixture settings, till eventually I was more or less happyish with things. Had a run around and all seemed well. Tomorrow I'll see how it starts again. I still think the original trouble was the original carb. My boo! boo! with the governor didn't help things. But as my father used to say, "The man who never made a mistake, never made anything".

8 pointsOk,ok,ok—I think that we will try to pull some of the “steeds” out of hibernation and go for a tractor ride around the property. I’ll add that a fire pit bonfire will also be on our agenda for later today. Maybe a little catch and baseball this afternoon...🤔 this should be fun...

7 pointsAs if I needed any extra proof that she works harder than I do, Trina thought you guys would get a kick out of this. I want to put a DISCLAIMER here. She is a well trained athlete and is very well aware of her own capabilities. DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME.
-
7 pointsI could say quite a few things specially to bust on you but I think its more appropriate to just tell you to treasure the fact that you have her in your life. I don't personally know her, but besides her physical prowess more importantly is her mindset and determination which is obvious. Looks like you have a fitting partner in life.

7 pointsSo this morning I took the snow thrower off the 16 Automatic and hooked up the york rake and regraded the driveway. Tomorrow after it has a chance to dry out a bit I plan on using the grader blade and smooth it out a bit more.

4 pointsIf you have a nice shift knob that needs to be removed and you don't want to use a pipe wrench or channel-locks just make one of these. I use a piece of leather from an old glove to line it. To mount/dismount 6" and 8" tires I used a piece of 3/4" all-thread rod mounted through the work bench, works great. Fingers cut from an old leather glove protect the paint when using tire irons.

4 pointsI found @Sparky‘s post from making his tractor a round fender machine. I’ll be using my 552 project “Poppy” and the 753 leftovers for parts to make Jada’s “seat swap” a reality.

4 pointsI probably could not live without a fireplace or wood stove, but by the time you put that piece of firewood in the fire it’s like revenge for me since by that time I probably handled that thing at least half a dozen times.

4 pointsOh MAN. Funny thing is.... I've put my put back out a few times over the years and it's never ever been lifting something heavy. I once bent down to pick up a PENCIL and could not straighten up for the life of me.
-
4 pointsHope this doesn't comback to bite her in 20 yrs. I've had 1 back operation and am looking at another. TAKE CARE OF YOUR BACK!

4 pointsThat's because it was the THIRD piece that size she had moved... No no. I did okay. I used two hands and proper balance.

4 pointsSo Jada isn’t too keen on welding yet. She does however want to work on her tractor. Last year she found a steel seat pan like Putt Putt and Frank have. She wants to put it on her 857. I showed her a 1045 to see if we want to mock one for her, she said “Can I go eat something?” I responded “Do you like the look of that?” She said “Yeah” and wandered off to the kitchen. I’ve wanted to build a mock 1045, looks like it might be an 845 instead

4 pointsWelcome to the 'hood Jason... mines a bit better shape but still a project. Definitely the odd ball in my herd. I have a feeling it might go down the road tho. The horses I got that need love might be years 'for it's even on the skedule. I did get the K141 to run. @CasualObserver has got first dibs. There's a few manuals on GT talk but not much out there you get the hair to resto. Even a carcass like that is a rare find.

4 pointsYou always run around with gals on topless tractors Kev or the other way around!?! Looks like today I and a few others worked on our tractors instead of out joyriding .. I was with Muz on deck work for a special project tractor....shut up EB ....how one can operate without a POWER WASHER not mentioning names....ahemm.. is beyond me.

4 pointsGot out today in this beautiful 76° weather and sunshine did a little bit of cutting. Now it's time to crack open an adult beverage!

4 pointsI had to have new septic tank drain lines installed..Oh joy! The contractor started yesterday morning, and my once relatively nice backyard is now a real mess. With 3 dogs, no grass, and lots of rain, it will be a mess for a while. I got the Raider 10/14 out and put the wheel weights and blade on it to smooth out some of the dirt after the contractor left. Pics tell the story: Danny

4 pointsJust catching up with this thread and it’s got me all fired up to get working on mine. We were was just getting ready before all this lockdown occurred . He moved tractors around and dug out parts for pictures (aka some funding for the 84 C10) .He built a frame table using some free I-beams as he’s planning on grafting on C4 corvette suspension . All on hold until he starts working again . We’re all fine for time being as of health, food, and TP . On a up note my son preordered a cnc plasma table this past fall and it’s in route for delivery . Now it’s going to be learning Autodesk 360 and trying to remember G-code . So after he gets everything up and going he’ll be offering up his services for costume projects . With all this downtime been searching CL , FB and came across a rarity , a Blazer Chalet . I’ve known of these but never seen one in person. Just thought I’d share what I found . Unicorns do exist ! ...https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/416437205903366 and a short YouTube video

4 pointslooking a lot tidier now, I dont have to walk in sideways anymore. Amazing how a good tidy up makes the shop look bigger. Mick

3 pointslong story short, new neighbors up the road 4 houses away cleaning up the property said they found something in the woods, they were going to junk it. to bad the grill was gone. I have some junk rims and tires that I will mount up to it. it will make a nice addition to one of the gardens unless I get some stupid idea to try restore it

3 pointsNo idea what the compression ratio is - but it breathes pretty freely. I've always run regular gas and it has never knocked. This was originally a 350 Quadrajet engine. The PO short blocked it with the 305, leaving the 350 uppers on it. This is a long bed fleetside, currently being used for hauling and chores. Not sure where the Wookieepedia miles came from. Thought I typed 200,000 there. Like ZXT's fleet, everything from the CJ7 down are projects. First on the list is the CJ7. That has Michigan cancer and needs a new floor. Something is funky in the engine too. I'm planning on swapping in a later model 4 liter head and maybe converting to fuel injection. I brought the 57 when I was in high school. Was a 283 power pack three speed with overdrive back then. I'll have to dig around for some pictures.

3 pointsI've had this male bluebird perching on the shed for the past few days apparently looking for a mate. So, today I threw up another box and feeder hoping he will move in before the sparrows take over. Also hung a "bee house". I need bees to pollinate my blossoming plum and pear trees.

3 pointsgot some seat time in on this today rolled yard about 2 hrs worth . ran great plenty of power . need to load the tires it a little light pulling this roller . but it has a noise in engine don't know what to think i posted in the engine section on here

3 pointsYou can use a couple of those Hamms Beer cans to cover um up when not in use.
-
3 pointsNo, it's not real. The seller was probably price gouging, so people started bidding even higher to ensure that it wouldn't actually sell. Nobody is going to pay that.
-
3 pointsOnly weld on cloudy days Walk around to the other side of the piece you're welding. You can hold up a sun screen while Trina welds You'll need to find a way to block it

3 pointsI built one a while back and also made my own locking keys wish I could find my post with blueprints. Found my thread back in Nov 2016 no blue print for this bracket as I just copied the one I had on hand what I did have a blueprint for was snow plow skid shoes...

3 pointsSide note on my little girl’s beautiful smile above... I as a wise and honest father, I’ve taught my children to “smile like you just farted on your sister!” It really does great making their “try to smile hard” into a genuine smile

3 pointsAll I can say here is “You guys know your stuff “ It’s funny how it seems everyone has their niche, some guys know more about the 50’s and 60’s tractors some guys 70’s and 80’s etc. Then there’s the elite, the gurus that know damn near everything about our tractors! The one thing that we don’t have here is people that are arrogant or condescending in there reply’s to someone who doesn’t know all that much about them. Someone says it here almost everyday so I’ll say it today “ You won’t meet a nicer, more helpful group of people than you will on Red Square!”
