11 pointsI just received a package from Midwest Custom Graphics. @Vinylguy has donated a complete set of decals to go with the Raider 10 raffle tractor. Thank you Terry.

11 pointsEverything is getting shut down where I live. We are cleaning all of our campuses starting today and I mean clean them. I am not allowed to respond to any emergency HVAC calls until Monday at the earliest when the schools start feeding kids. I am not allowed to call in sick unless I go to the doctor and have proof I went. And you folks who say you'll do what you want, you can get the virus, have no symptoms and pass it on to others. I am in the high risk group and I'll be damned if I am going to get this because someone else is careless and not taking precautions. I love the show, but I'll stay home first if things are still nuts.

9 pointsThey sent me to the West York facility in the company van today so I snuck in to see the tractor. . The guy showed it to me and I said so you're asking 300 but would take 250? He said sure.I said how about 200 . He said no so I said meet in the middle at 225 and he said sold! I went to the bank and got the cash. I pick it up Saturday morning. @gwest_ca Looks like 3117KE02 15060 on the tractor and 0548MS05 on the deck. The engine numbers look like they're easily read on the picture.

8 pointsAfter way too many months I finally can say its done. Gently restored, my originally owned 312. After restoring a 520 I picked up, I thought I should do mine after so many years of trouble free service...
-
8 pointsI'm thinking of retiring my 520HC as a mower and using the 417. I believe @Ed Kennell once said his 520 is just a winter machine because Onans don't take heat very well. By the way, it started right up and moved forward and reverse instantly and the hydro lift worked instantly.

6 pointsLast I checked, my tractors were not infected. I think I’ll go hang out with them for a couple weeks. I just stood 2 feet away from someone in the post office while inside the “6 foot separation” zone. So far I feel ok.
-
6 pointsGreat idea, but last summer I bought a dozen school cafeteria trays. If I got a leaker, I put a tray lined with paper towels under the leak area. Easy to remove, clean, and replace.

5 pointsJust something about a KT-17 series 2 at idle, reminds me of a BB chevy with a solid lifter cam and sounds even better under a load. Good Luck with it.

5 pointsThere currently is a commercial featuring a guy with an Emu side kick. I have chickens and was wondering what the front seat of the featured Duster looks like? I know it's an odd question but I could use a laugh right now.

5 pointsMaybe the travel restrictions will help lower the 40,000 deaths that occur every year in the USA due to vehicle crashes. One death every 50 minutes due to drunk drivers. Even with a vaccine, 12,000 have all ready died in the USA from the flu this season with 18,000 more deaths predicted by the end of the flu season this spring. 70,000 deaths from drug OD in 2017. 500,000 USA deaths due to cancer every year. I am not trying to minimize the seriousness of this super contagious virus. I have self quarantined my entire family, but there are several other serious problems we also need to address.

5 pointsMy favorite saying regarding things like this: “Anything mechanical can fail at ANY time, but you lessen your failure probability rate by purchasing/using something with a great known track record!” The Command single looks good on paper...time will only tell how durable the motor actually is (I really like the full pressure lube and spin on oil filter). By the time these engines came out “the horsepower” race was in full swing. Everyone had to brag about how much power their lawnmower had. So, cheaply made vertical shaft twins became commonplace in throw away tractors and gave a bad rap to everything built at the time. Unfortunate though, because some of the engines out there were/are really good. I do know this about the Command 23 horizontal shaft motor—I have a buddy who worked for Kohler R&D team when they were developing those. He said that they logged more grueling hours on those engines in the test phase than any engine in Kohler’s history with a lower failure rate. He said they would regularly hit 3000 hours without hitting the rebuild spec for internal parts. Soooo...I wouldn’t be too afraid of 800 hours but I do echo what the guys said above...PO maintenance can definitely play a factor in a machines longevity. Good luck.

5 points@Nyle I love me some round hoods! That looks like an old Briggs engine, something that wasn’t used in those years. I’d say 502, 552 or 753 is my guess... but there are eagle eyes around here that can none in better than I! Again... welcome from my family to yours!

5 pointsI have been saving all of the political postcards that have flooded the postal system. I will cut them up to mask ny next set of wheels.
-
4 pointsHello everyone, I have recently acquired an older wheel horse tractor, unfortunately it is missing the hood. I’m trying to figure out the model and year and so far all I’ve found is a serial number which is 32628 I will enclose a couple pics. Thanks for any help!
-
4 pointsDone tore that tractor down to nottin'. Still haven't found it. Sure hope Jim can figure out how to put the tractor back together again.
-
4 pointsThanks all for the comments. The 312 has 530 hours. A relatively easy life too. And heres a pic of my 520. I had some pic on here when I finished that one too. And some before pics of the 312. I would have to look for better before picture.

4 pointsIt's a Smithy Granite 13x24". Would have preferred separate lathe and milling machine but space was limited and I fell into a deal I couldn't walk away from. I would not use this machine for production work but for what I do it has turned out to be amazingly versatile. I don't know anything about CNC or digital readouts so this has fit my mentality pretty well. Smithy is good about providing support for their equipment and that has been a plus.
-
4 pointsWell put Ed So I'll throw this out … keep in mind there are what... over 300 million people in the US...
-
4 pointsThanks, everybody had a good day, stayed home (Social Distancing) something the girls in Jr. High and High school did with me back in the day . Made a big pot of Cajun Gumbo and a pan of cornbread, doesn't get much better than that. Stay safe. Chris.
-
4 pointsSimple question. Would you rather err on the side of caution and maybe it won’t be as bad as they are saying it’s going to be, or blow it off as nothing and maybe have a disaster on our hands.

4 pointsDid quite a bit of work on the old truck the past couple days, the pitman arm and idler arm were both showing some wear, as well as the upper control arm bushings on the RH side. Probably didn't need to do it, but I went ahead and replaced everything under the front of the truck. With 247k on it I didn't want to only replace what was showing wear now, only to have to wrench on it again later on down the road, this way I know everything is new and should last for a long time. We have not had an alignment tech at our shop for about three months now, so was planning on taking it to the same shop I took Krystal's car to, but the kid I work with has been reading up on our alignment machine and wants to learn, so I figured what the heck I'll let him try it, worse case scenario he doesn't get it right and I have to take it to Jim, which I was gonna have to do anyway. So we stayed after work last night and played around with it for a while, between the two of us we were able to figure it out and I must say that it drives perfectly. And the 12 pack of Bud I promised him turned out a lot cheaper than the $100 Jim would've charged to do it Then today she got some new shoes, LT265/75R16 Hercules Terra Trac AT-II on the front and Terra Trac MTs on the rear. Out here at the ranch even the slightest bit of moisture turns our driveway into a slimy slippery mess, and I was tired of getting stuck. The new tires sure look good, but they sure didn't stay clean for very long They made all the difference in the world getting in the driveway tonight though. I will say I have been very lucky the past couple months, when I bought the truck it had Yokohama HTs on the front, and one Yokohama AT and a Hercules AT on the back. I never paid that close attention to them, only to notice that they were all the same size, When dismounting them today I noticed that the oddball Hercules was noticeably softer than the other three, upon closer inspection I discovered that it was a load range C and only rated for 50 PSI max...and all this time I've been running with 80 PSI in them when the camper is loaded and 65 PSI when empty

4 pointsIf everyone would read 2 Chronicles 7:13 and 7:14 and follow the directions in 7:14 we will all be fine. And the show can go on, praying for healing and an end to this enemy.
-
4 pointsI hope the Show will go on, but as previously mentioned, I don't want to risk my health or the health of others. Having had a couple of stents a little more than a year ago, that puts me in the higher risk range. If it should come to it, there will be other Big Shows, I'd like to be at those also. Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise, the Show will go on.

4 pointsWow that looks very nice, Here is the 1990 312H I did about 3 years ago. I like the seat you got, it looks more comfortable than mine.
-
4 pointsThis next few weeks is crucial to do what they are telling you to do. I would think in a couple of weeks we should have a good idea of what we are dealing with and at that point what we may be looking at for the summer. Common cents...since....sense. and Rock & Rye.

3 points@Nyle Welcome to RedSquare. you have found the best site on the web for anything Wheel Horse. I am also gonna say its likely a 753, great little tractor, absolutely love mine. Here are some pics of mine the night I brought it home you can use for reference. I do have a hood that I'm not using that is in overall pretty good shape. Only thing wrong with it is a couple dings and it is missing the bracket on the base of the grille that bolts to the frame, but probably wouldn't be hard to fab one up for it. It's the one on the tractor along the wall in the background. If you can use it its yours for the cost of shipping.

3 pointsWow Thanks so much for the awesome reply’s. After having a few numbers thrown out I’m going with a 1963 753. The motor is a 70 model Briggs. It has three attachments, front blade, plow, and mowing deck. I’m excited about getting this old jewel running again. To my knowledge it hasn’t ran in about 15 years. If anyone has a lead on a hood that would be great. Once again, Thanks so much for the great response. -Nyle

3 pointsDug this thread out the cellar as I have a set of caps to put on and do not want to scratch an exquisite paint job incase the caps don't work on this build come off. Just happen to have a butt load of the door trim edging stuff so going to try that. Stay tuned for before and after pics & maybe even a glimpse of some unusual red!

3 pointsI really thank everyone for the input on this, I had no idea at all how good/bad Commands really are other than the bashing that goes on over them. Meaning nothing solid being mentioned as to why they don't like them so being Aluminum is my only guess as to why we're told to avoid it? Oil leaks are indeed an easy fix even for me. Peacemaker Jack I never heard it said any better here. My favorite saying regarding things like this: “Anything mechanical can fail at ANY time, but you lessen your failure probability rate by purchasing/using something with a great known track record!” This has always been my theory too, I also learned long ago doing homework is much cheaper & so less frustrating than living and learning the hard way. I never knowingly choose to be the guinea pig "never". Also learned yrs ago all companies make a poor product in some point & time either on purpose or not it certainly happens, bean counters generally create them. Glad to read so much testing went into it because thats generally what's cut short too, rushed development. I told them again today to buy it, I'm comfortable saying that to them over what I read on the Command. Just no meat in all the bashing I heard over the yrs that made me question it. Fwiw on oil leaks- Many folks may not know it but for decades now Toyota uses very few gaskets in Aluminum engines. Instead they use FIPG (formed in place Gasket) many colors for different uses but other than the rubber oil seals Toys rarely leak even with high miles. My 2005 V8 Tundra has 353k miles and my first leak appeared this winter. My very first engine problem actually & its a valve cover seeping and that uses rubber gaskets. Many Toy engines are split block too and use no gaskets between the case half's only black FIPG. Other corps make it, I used Permetex once on a timing chain cover and had to redo it with Toy brand FIPG 3 yrs later. No idea whats different but it is different. Expensive for a reason maybe, great stuff regardless. Thanks again for helping folks. Lord bless you all during our worlds health crisis.

3 pointsMany years ago when I put together the first Lister WH is when I found this site. I knew nothing about WH tractors. The folks here were more than happy to share their knowledge and make suggestions. It didn't take long to start feeling like home here. Thanks to everyone here.

3 pointsto the site! Wise choice to find friends and advice of a horse! Gas tank looks to be a two piece, so doubt it’s a 702 going with 753! No matter what model it’s a HORSE OF COURSE!!!! Looks like it came with two useful attachments! Nice score! Heads up if that’s your first horse, you will find out it won’t be your last! Horses are heard animals and they get lonely.. Get a 2nd to keep it company and next your barn is full!!!

3 pointsWe're all in this together brother man Over the last couple years I've asked silly questions about more subjects than I could even begin to tell you for Trina and myself and our household. Might not have been the ideal one we were looking for but we've always gotten an answer and been able to proceed with some sort of solution. This website and the people that are on it are nothing short of Top-shelf.

3 pointsThere were parts there that I could end up needing before I'm done with this and I really appreciate you contacting me with help. I'm leaning on 70 pretty hard so I'm not as fast at this stuff as the younger folks. Thanks for your assistants.
-
3 pointsIs the drive belt guard on it? Its on the opposite side of the tractor from the pictured you posted.. Should have a number on it like 753 or 702 or 854 etc... The motor is not original.

3 pointsNope, no drain. No slope except for the apron. The building is water-tight. Rained hard last night. Overhead door seals tight. I have installed perimeter drainage around the base of the building so water can't come in from below.
-
3 pointsWelcome to the forum. My guess is it is a 1963 model 753. 1962 models and early 1963 models had a 62-xxxxx serial number. Click on the picture Garry

3 pointsAt that time we didn't have Facebook, Twitter and all of the "Social Influencers" making irresponsible statements and fabricating stories that the world suddenly accepts as Truth. Our places of worship are closed, but that doesn't stop us from praying that we will be delivered safely from this problem.

3 pointsThanks for tryin Jimbo…… but I knew Foose was tooo smart to take the bait. All jokin aside, my 417A is my go to mower when the grass is heavy. She spins the 48SD and that Kohler Twin really snorts in the tall stuff. Actually sounds much stronger than the P220 Onan in the 520H. And it takes about an hour to melt a patch on the deck.

3 pointsI went with my FIL yesterday to pick this guy up. It’s a ‘79 C-30 extended wheelbase ramp truck. The 350/SM465 3 speed+creeper gear was a blast from the past when I got the offer from him to drive it home! It’s got 85k on the ticker and runs good... just needs a tune up, a brake job and some wiring. I sent it up the highway at 70 mph just a singing a song with no smoke, no temp issues just a big ‘ole smile on my face!
