8 pointsHad a fire out in the woods after work: And later in the evening went for a night ride in the backwoods which is currently a muddy swamp. I got stuck a few times with the turf tires, luckily she's easy to push out.

7 pointsFound a couple of Roof 60 tractors. They aren't the Jeep style Palomino but they are still very cool tractors. And go up to 22 mph! woo hoo The two I found do not have engines and they connect the hydro trans to the engine with a drive shaft onto the flywheel side. I have a 20 HP Kohler but will need a flywheel. So I know JDs connect with a shaft but just not sure of the bolt spacing on those flywheels from a JD. Hope they would fit this tractor as this is kind of the only thing holding me up from pulling the trigger on them. I do have an Onan B43 from a JD but spacing on the flywheel holes is too small although I believe it can still work if required to drill new holes on the drive shaft plate. Any advice or help is appreciated For the curious, they look like this. The 2 I'm looking at aren't as nice but making 1 outta 2 ain't bad

5 pointsWhen you set the static mark you were likely out one turn on the flywheel. Camshaft turns once for two rotations of the crankshaft. Garry

5 pointsMy backside probably isn’t much too appropriate here... I’ll stick to tractors.
-
5 pointsBut remember... that transmission is not a “fore!” speed - even with the golf ball shifter...

3 pointsHere's an "in progress" shot of the day I was changing the rear meats on Cinnamon from show tires/rims back to its work clothes. And here's a pic of ALL of them...
-
3 pointsYeah, you likely set them on the exhaust stroke, not compression. Suck, Squeeze, Bang, Blow. Squeeze and Blow are 180 degrees off.
-
3 pointsGet them John. We’ll figure out an adapter. I have pieces and parts to several different setups. Someone is bound to have a kohler adapter for you.

3 pointsYour photo reminded me of a little 1973 Suzuki TC100 I bought a few years back when I worked at an Auto Auction. I had to travel around the lot looking for cars or checking vin numbers or mileage or whatever . So I bought this little bike to get me around the lot quickly. Thing is it was old and needed a "special touch" but everyone always wanted to ride it so I spent more time fixing the thing only to have someone mess it up again. 4 high and 4 low trails or pavement. Was in good shape for its age. To good since everyone who got on it wanted to just pop wheelies. The older I get the more fragile I become. Wheelie poppin days are gone

3 pointsThe side of the engine that appears to not be bolted down has bolts from the bottom up into the oil pan
-
2 pointsMay i ask something? Other than a bigger footprint, which id gather equals more traction(yes?)...wouldnt it actually hurt your pulling power, because the engine has to work harder to turn all that extra weight (especially the dual wheel setups)? Im asking cuz i hope to do something like y'all are posting pics of someday, anyways😁🤣

2 pointsThe drive shafts on these use actual U-joints, not the more common rubber flex washers like Dan has posted, which I believe was used for the B43 I have. Could probably use a set up like that for another project if anyone has one of those. Original Engines were a 23hp kohler so the smaller engine adapters won't have a big enough bolt pattern. There are a few other things which could use clarification by someone which has one of these to help with value but it can all be figured out. Just ordered manual and IPL which should help. Usually the process is to just look, cut, weld and redo if that doesn't work but this would be nicer to keep a rare machine mostly original. Still working on the guy to sell the Palomino tractor too.

2 pointsDid not remove tank looked good, like what I found in carb bowl. New gas, seafoam, and new fuel lines and filter. Yesterday removed jets and bowl and gave carb good spray down with brake clean and then compressed air. Going to remove points today clean and reset. And I could feel a couple bolts under frame and assumed they screwed into oil pan.

2 pointsI figured something else had to be going on here. First, the 3/4" stop pin is the longer pin. To use it you must have the newer style rails. The shorter 11/16" pin can be used with any combination of new or old rails but you won't get the benefit of this upgrade. When you're installing the second rail (1st/reverse rail) the detent ball must be in one of the detents in the first rail (2nd/3rd rail) installed, preferably the deeper neutral detent. If this wasn't the case the whole reason they did this upgrade wouldn't work. Really, it's more confusing to say than to do. Check out service bulletin #60. That probably explains it better than I can.

2 pointsThere are a few different kinds of attachment methods for tire chains. I've had one completely befuddle me in the past as well. Sometimes you need to deflate the tire a bit. Can you post pics of the buckle you're trying to undo? Rust/corrosion can be a problem if they've been on awhile.

2 pointsI'm a sucker for many things - including small trailers had a number of them - including a small Sears trailer - but it was not as neat as your trailer got rid of most of the trailers - but still have a few - including a neat custom built low profile aluminum trailer with torsion axle and also a small vintage aluminum folding trailer made for VWs or touring motorcycles it folds and carries like a piece of luggage or suitcase believe it was manufactured in France - Besco ? my trailer buried in garage - but found pictures

2 pointsI've seen video of Trina plowing - she is a horsepower gal ! lol found this pic - I believe it is a RS member tractor - that engine would look great on a tractor like this

2 points@Greentored you’ll get the feeling that we’re all family, except less disagreements at our annual reunion. I believe the story is @stevasaurus was not in attendance one June so his head was placed on a stick for picture opportunities. I think there was a @nylyon on a stick and maybe a @Sparky on a stick too in the past? Maybe more heads on a stick have popped up?
-
2 pointsnever understood this wheel horse tractors are not cheap - in fact they were very expensive sitting one outside just doesn't add up
-
2 pointsAlright just about to finish. My patina build just need to steal the battery box off my B-80. There are a few other things that need to be fixed or replaced but it is a driver now.

2 pointsI got it! Um.. its a 414-8! It has 8” front wheels. It needs a muffler, choke cable, and gas cap. The motor runs like a kohler.. it starts right up, runs sweet! And the 48” deck, I mean, those are the only holes in it.. a couple welded on plates! I need to know what year it is... there is no vin plate on the back... I think it’s an 88 or an 89??
-
1 pointSure are... I took it to my Uncle in Louisiana to use for harvest and that's the thanks for letting him use it. That machine is as old as me and bought new by my dad. I got it as high school graduation present in 97.

1 pointWell, I know a thing or two about 400 meter running. My daughter [ a sprinter] subbed in for an injured runner at districts just to keep a spot alive for the regular runner to advance to regionals..Never ran the 'quarter mile' and did not know how. Six races later, she got to stand on the podium. At State. With a 57. You just never know. But Caleb, it is not where you finish up, but how hard you try. The 400M is one of the races that runners hate the most. 100 and 200M are a piece of cake by comparison. The 400 runners are very acquainted with the trash barrel at the finish line and not that many people can stand the pain and nausea that are part of this race. It is a sacrifice that I think can speak to hard work. What she is doing now is going through a PhD program and paying for it all by scholarships and working. It can still be done without much debt, and being willing to drive old cars and cut expenses. I really think that your father's work ethic at home and church and also the lessons learned in athletic competition can take you far. Godspeed. P.S. maybe you can run some XC in the fall?
