8 pointsHey guys - I was too pooped to post when I finally got home! It was after 5:30 when I finally went back! They hooked me up to a cardiac monitor, gave med nausea meds, and pumped in a whole bag of fluids. My blood work showed an infection. They said most likely I had another stomach bug just two weeks after the first one. If that doesn’t resolve itself, I have to have a CT scan of my digestive tract. Possibly diverticulitis since “I’m get up there around that age!” It’s almost 4 am and I’m feeling some better. I wouldn’t wish an ER visit on anybody! Seems my body was just reacting to dehydration - thank goodness. Have a great day - I can just lie around per doctor’s orders. Dang, there goes that honey do list for the weekend!

4 pointsThat is a great looking complete tractor. you might consider keeping it original, or doing a light wet sand and clearcoat to preserve the patina. Of course the most important thing is to make it you own, and it also is a great tractor for a full restoration. When you get it running flush the transmission by draining and filling it with diesel, driving it around, and draining and refilling with 90w gear oil. The spindles on it are longer than most modern rims. You can find 3/4" spaces at Tractor Supply, etc to put on the spindle, then use a modern rim. However if you want to do a correct restore, those rims are hard to find/expensive. Those rims can probable be repaired. I've taken some with holes in them and sandblasted and welded up the holes. Then used JD weld to smooth the bead area on the inside and smooth the outside. Below are pictures of a really bad David Bradley rim I repaired. I taped the hole on the outside, and on the inside used fiberglass cloth and JB weld. JB weld can be worked down with a files and sand paper. From the outside I can't tell which rim I repaired.

4 pointsMy 21 year old son built this snow making gun when he was about 10... Cost about $20 at Home Depot for a few parts...Cool thing is, it actually works!!! Hose on one side, compressor on the other, adjust flow of air to water ratio based on air temperature and tada!!! Snow... By the way, he’s now in his third year at University of Utah getting a Mechanical Engineering degree... Still have it in the garage...

4 pointsConnecticut has had that for years, never seen it actually seen it enforced though. The state even has it's splashy catchphrase for the law "Idling is Fuelish". Yup, that is actually their marketing for the law...You just can't make this stuff up. Not as bad as South Dakota's "Meth, We're on it". But still just plain bad.

4 pointsWrap a loop of #40 roller chain around the front tires. They need to go on tight with no air pressure, then air them up to lock the chains in place. They will come off if they're not tight.Makes a huge difference with steering.

Heres a little inspiration for your current aspiration. .. it was sitting in my local Chevrolet dealer, why I have no idea, while I was waiting to have my 25k on the clock wheel bearing replaced. Kev @pullstart we is gonna have a little talk about GM crap! But being the HD fan I am....the white stars are a must!

3 pointsAs I sit here trying to get back to my crotchety old self, I got a little present left at the front door. I found my mufflers I had ordered. They are a little smaller in diameter than I expected, it man are they heavy duty. They are stamped Nelson, so I think they should work out nicely! Notice how the old muffler’s baffle even fell completely out! I might salvage the guards and weld them on the new mufflers - we’ll see.

3 pointsGood to hear your on the mend Dells, I've been to the ER by ambulance 🚑, driven to by my wife,more times than I care to remember. Infections,complications from MS, never fun. Now I have a hernia in my groin area, that needs Sergey,seems like one thing after another. Luckily I have good insurance and a relentless Bride that question everything they do. They have saved my life a few times so I don't like bad talking the health system but we all know it could be better, how to fix it is the big unknown.

2 pointsDug out some older pics with and without the snow cab. Snowmobile suit without the full coverage helmet was needed when the wind direction changes without cab. This is when the 2 stage shines in 20'' plus inches lands on the ground.

2 pointsEasiest way to remedy that is to jump up to big boy toys and buy a Ram! Personally, I’d stay with a 4.7 or Cummins - those hemis are way overrated with more mechanical problems. I had always been a GM man until the last two trucks and now I’ll always drive a Ram! About those STD’s, I told you when I called to ask how you got rid of yours to keep it a secret! Some friend you are! By the way, very nice bike there. Wonder if it belonged to the owner or one of the employees and was on loan?

2 pointsTry to fix it yourself and if you don’t like it no harm... get one of the many available here as noted above or just post a want add... Heck...You can Keep the old one and use it to begin making a rat rod...the more beat up the better...

2 pointsTJ it is all about what you got money or resources. Those old hoods are pretty thick might be a good project to learn some welding and body work skills if you have that at your disposal. Really can go wrong, Ed will treat you right if you screw up the one you have and I am sure there is something at the show pretty cheap also.

2 pointsThe tillers do not go deep enough to suit me. Look at the tine shaft and you will see that it didn't drop very much. I prefer to plow as deep as I can and use the tiller to break up the results.

2 points@dells68My doctors have always stressed that I keep a case of bottled water in the refrigerator and drink a minimum of 4 of them every day. Sometimes that is hard to do, but I'd rather keep hydrated than suffer the alternatives. In warmer weather I add electrolyte drinks such as Gatorade or Smartwater to the mix. Glad you are feeling better. @ohiofarmerAs to your horror stories about ER charges, I have been to the ER three times in 2019. I am on Medicare, and I read every statement of charges. I have had CT scans, blood work, ultrasounds, MRI's, IV infusions of everything from saline to antibiotics, and pain killers. Never have I seen charges as high as those stated in earlier posts. I'm not sure what kind of ER's you have where you live, but I'd be reporting those kinds of charges to someone. No wonder healthcare is so expensive.

2 pointsHere is the only old picture I have on the computer of it. Not that good of a picture. The Palomino Copper coler was toward the bottom of the colors ordered in 70. I think only three with less. That was not the primary reason for staying with it, I think it being different from what we normally see was probably the biggest reason. I looked at pictures of them in the solid color and wasn't sure I would care for it in the long run. Vinyl tops, know all the down falls with them too. I figured it will be indoors most of the time so some of the problems will not be as great as if it were outside in yhe sun and weather. At one point was going to change it to Cardinal Red but see red a lot more and decided to be different!

2 pointsmost of my muscle cars were sticks - but had a few with auto and they were a blast also one had high stall converter and modified valve body (shift kit) ; could put good strips down on shift to second for the avg Joe - tough to beat a good auto (straight line) btw - years and years ago had a TH400 pulled out of early 70's GTO - sat at my parents house and my dad gave it away or threw it out (frown)

2 pointsWhen ordering chains get the 2 link spacing, Yes they are more expensive but they don't give you that bone jarring bump like 4 link chains do. Weights and chains will make a HUGE difference.

2 pointsFour Years Ago This Week! 20 below weather and I picked up a 1958 RJ Wheel Horse from Austin McCord in Underwood, Iowa. It had an extra transmission and I had one more for a total of three. I had discussed rebuilding one with Stevasaurus. I told him I would bring the transmissions back from my trip to Iowa to Elgin, Illinois to his home. I did not know it was going to be one of the coldest weeks in the decade! These transmissions are the start of the online tutorial that Steve made titled: "So You Want to Redo a Three Piece Transmission" ! Steves tutorial is the best source of nuances and useful information on rebuilding these early Wheel Horse three piece transmsisions in the RJ's and Suburbans. Thanks again Steve for all your help and guidance!

2 pointsAppreciate your help! Not much progress lately. A bunch of small parts in the mail clutch spring, axle pin, new tie rods and lift cable from Lowell and lots of misc. items to paint. I noticed on the other gentleman's mechanical resto 856 he seems to have added the flanged bearing #6472 to the tie-rod side of the lower steering shaft. My old shaft was heavily worn in this location so that seems like a logical upgrade when the new one goes on. I recall the axle having quite a bit of for and aft slop as well, but I plan to shim that gap shut since the frame is already painted and I don't have access to a press. Creature comfort wise....for my upcoming birthday my dad gifted me a kerosene heater..busted knuckles wont hurt quite as bad while wrenching. Thanks Dad!

2 pointsIt downright moves. Not saying I’ve ever drag raced my wife with every vehicle we’ve ever driven, but her ‘11 Suburban with the 5.3 just doesn’t have it. I pulled the dump box trailer yesterday and it seemed to like high rpm’s but with the 8 speed transmission, it was easy for it to find happy. I don’t imagine it’s as efficient as Norman my ‘01 stick shift Duramax, but it’ll move a trailer just fine. Now. The truck was in on Tuesday for some paint protection work. The loaner was the 6.2L in the same truck... within reason. Wow. Racecar. I knew the towing capacity was 6,600 lbs, but looked up payload. 2030 lbs. that should be good for about 5 Wheel Horses!
