Back on April 1 2019 @formariz under the heading of Secret Room showed us what a Craftsman is capable of when he puts all his knowledge into a project after many years of an apprenticeship then to a journeyman and finally a master of his craft. It takes a certain mindset and determination and often makes you wonder why someone really has to be that fussy,the answer is because we were taught to do a job to the best of our ability so it would stand the test of time and maybe someone would pass on a good recommendation for us so we may be able to support ourselves and family and to have some nice creature comforts while we are on Earth. A big thank you to all the Master Craftsmen who came before us and passed those Trade Secrets to us. I recently found a few old SD cards with more Trade pics and thought I would share them. These are from 2 different jobs 1 Plumbing and 1 Heating back in 2014 and 2016. Note on the Heating job the boiler is not yet installed just the Supply & Returns etc.

Hello I want to introduce myself, I am Cliff and picked up a 656 with rear discharge 32 inch deck, snow blade and a moldboard plow on new year's Eve. I spent New year's day moving my Sears and other stuff to the shed so I could have this little project. I need to get it in shape for spring when we break a new garden. I acquired three 6 hp Tecumseh engines in the deal but not one is operational, I did get a new rod and piston with the disassembled engine. Tonight I drained the transaxle and plan on checking it out and replacing seals and hope everything else is good but only time will tell I guess. I pulled the rear wheels off and the hubs were very loose which as you can guess caused me a bit of concern, however the key way in the axles is great, just wearing on the woodruff key so those need to go, I am thinking I surly have those if not that's cheap! Well the plan was to make sure the transaxle is good before getting into an engine and what not. As far as I can tell the only pieces I am missing is the adjuster j bolt and knob for deck height. I did not grab any deck pictures or plow and blade pictures before spitting them into storage but did grab a couple of the tractor before I started in on it. Thanks for all the resources on this web site, it surly will make this little project easier.

I've been tinkering with this 1976 on and off for a few years now. Cant seem the find the motivation to just her done. Here's the F350 that I put together and ran around in for quite some time. I sold it after I had purchased my 2004 Superduty. I miss it.

This is not really work on the tractor, but it is Wheel Horse related. I printed the calender and hung it on my basement shop door. Yes, thelight level in that area is poor. The camera on my tablet needed help from a flashlight.

Like was said before, if your not concerned about being all original it might be easier to swap in a new motor like a Kohler K181 (8 hp). This is my 657 which is pretty much identicle to your 656, it has a Kohler 8hp pull start under the hood now and fits perfectly.

I just put a call into my favorite Binnies and they are going to investigate availability. They will let me know if and when they can get it. Suggested price is $27. Maybe we can get Karl to stock it in the store.

Eric: Looking at your plowing requirement yours looks a lot like mine, lots of backing up required. You should get that Charger you just got up and running. The big speed boost in reverse and much quicker direction changes make life a lot easier and get you in out of the cold quicker. The limited slip differential is a big help . Weight her down and she will amaze you with how much she can push...quickly.

I didn't remove the fuel pump. It was still fine but I had issues getting it started that was caused by the fuel tank under the seat. It was likely the issue was made worse because the fuel pump on the Command is higher than a K-series. I just found a cozy spot under the tank to mount the pump and ran it to the original fuel pump. Starting issues completely resolved. I used a Mr. Gasket #42s pump.

Thanks Ed! New valve seat installed, quick valve job/decarbon across the board, and of course touched up the sharp edges in the ports a bit just for the hell of it. Now that thats out of the way and shes running good Im moving forward. Much to be done yet, but the main sheet metal is back on for good. Went with a lower back style seat, and eliminated the seat adjusters as they were falling apart. Can still use the slots in lower framework if need be. Stole the GM door hinge bushing idea from a fellow member here then made my own pin and heat treated it- it worked great! Should there be some kind of hood prop/stop to keep hood from opening far enough to lay on the attach a matic up front? Seems there oughtta be.

Although I took this picture in 1981 I still have all three units.That was quite a load for a 300 6. The white 350 was the first new truck I bought in over 30 years.

Having been born in the late 50's I never really considered a Vintage truck any newer than 1972 because in 1973 the Horsepower ratings started to drop and along came more emission control systems to the Trucks and Muscle cars that a lot of us loved. When @PeacemakerJack started the vintage truck topic he mentioned that he did not consider a vintage truck after 1977, so my thought is there must be many members here that have a lot newer trucks they would like to show but are hesitant to post them on vintage including myself. I will need some time to post pics maybe 1 or 2 for now to get things going. What do you guys think, And of course a big thanks to @PeacemakerJack for brainstorming this great idea. Post them up.

Was talking about this little job on a OM with another member, and figured I ought to share it here. Bought it for $2.00 at a club auction last year. It's a 1946 Syntron 2 stroke jack hammer. Very heavy.. to be expected. Seems the engine and the 'hammer' share the combustion chamber, and the firing of the engine provides the thrust in both directions..? Not too sure really. It's unusual. One other seems to be floating around Youtube but little seems to be known about them. Do need to find a bit for this one.. but anyway, here she is.

I guess old Bluebell belongs here then haha. 300/6 with the 4 speed overdrive transmission. Got my certification slip back from a vin number search, she's one of 12 1985 F150 Custom's built in Regatta blue, with a 4 speed OD, and 3.55 4wd. Dont mind the goofy winter mirrors

Now that's already on my 2020 wish list. Let's see, I think I may have a birthday soon.

Bryce, if you were to wire the auxiliary battery via a solenoid, you could have your signal wire come on with your truck ignition. Would that do what you need it to do?

There is a 1/4" hole in the front Tack-A-Matic for a 1/4" rod that will stop the hood. My 1989 520-H I added the 1/4" rod it wasn't there. My 312-8 had one but I had to replace the hinge rod.

But they probably heard of these wheel horses. The pair near the wagon are the wheel horses.

I’ve owned a couple GM trucks that have been complete disappointments, but my two Dodge trucks were real good to me. If you read my other post I just brought home my first Toyota truck. Black Dodge was a 2004 3/4 ton with a HEMI. Lousy on fuel but pulled anything effortlessly. Sold our big camper so I moved into the red 2004 Dodge 1/2 ton. Slightly better fuel economy. The 2015 GMC was great on fuel (easily got 19 on the highway) but was loaded with issues so it was only in my driveway for 20 months before I unloaded it for the Tundra.

There ate three rights of passage in the community. Successfully removing wheel hubs is one of them and you have passed the test. One of the others is removing the hitch pin from the rear of the transmission (hope that goes well for you) and the third is steering wheel removal. @BOB ELLISON can fix you up with a very nice seat cover and Lowell can help you out with transmission and steering parts.https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/forum/141-wheelhorse-parts-and-more/

Lowrider, ok but if, than with a Hydraulic suspension so that the Truck is still further completely usable a Guy i met once has a selfmade Redneck style „lowrider“ built, with changed Suspension. Hight over Street was a Box of Cigaretts (measured 8cm). don‘t ask me how, but he get it Roadlegal. On his first Tuning Fair, he crashed the whole Frontbumper by driving to Parking lot.. 😂 It looks firstly very cool, but was not realy usabe..😎

The rig on the bed of the truck is a saw rig to cut fire wood.That is an Economy 6 horse.The only truck I own that is not a Ford is a 71 Jeepster Commando.I need to get it up and running or at least post a picture of it. After 71 the Jeepster got AMC engines.Prior to AMC's owning Jeep the Commandos had the odd fire Buick V6's as the top power plant.

Progress report for today... I still feel like I'm running behind but I should be done handling the heavy C-channel. Lots of measuring, drilling, measuring, leveling, measuring, & a little welding. I now have the main frame welded together.

Here's a few of mine, the pewter extended cab 2000 Silverado 1500 4x4 4.8L V8 5spd I bought used in 2007 and kept for 7 years till I bought the blue 2014 Z71 5.3L 6spd auto then the regular cab short bed 2006 4.3 V6 5spd I bought to just beat around in and save miles on the '14.

Here’s my current truck this picture taken a couple of years ago. I bought this brand new, it’s an 05 F-350 with a Power Stroke and 8’ Fisher plow. With a load of sand in low range this truck will move mountains of snow and go just about anywhere I ask it to!!

This truck is dang solid underneath. The trailing arms are included in that cleanliness... luckily it didn’t come from the rust belt .

It’ already earmarked for Jada, my now 12 year old. She seemed to have fallen in love with Ole Smokey the day we brought him home... even though it burned more oil than gas in those days with the original 307!

check out the steering (i assume it's for steering) wheel on the front right hand side. And those tire stud rings are pretty cool too. I could really impress (or piss off) the neighbors with that baby! If we only got some snow?

Way to go @JCM! This is a great thread to get rolling as well. I don’t know how long it will be till I’ll have something to put in here but I certainly will enjoy looking at everyone else’s cool new rides. Some awesome pics already—keep them coming guys...

Had a neighbor of mine when I was a kid around 1968 who would take us for a ride to the packey to pick up cigars and beer, he was single and never married, he bought a new jeepster I think it was called a Commando with possibly a 345 engine ? new every 3 or 4 years. I was 10 so the beer and cigars were for him.

Yah so it was you... eights are the same as sixes ...depends if you got your shoes on or off to be able to count past five with yer toes!

Here are a couple of non-vintage trucks that I have or have had until recently. The blue truck is a 95, 2wd V10 and the silver truck is a 99 4wd V10. The blue truck is my current work truck. Traded the silver truck off a few months ago for the Porsche that's on the trailer behind the blue. I have no complaints whatsoever about either of them. They both will pull a house down!

Not to run off with your thread Lager but has anybody know of anyone who took wallowed 1" hubs and reamed them to 118 and bushed them back down or used as 118? I have such a pair. Yer gonna be poed at me @ebinmaine but I found a 118 I never knew I had ....hey ain't you the one who found a complete 6 speed you didn't know??? I guess we both gotta start barcoding and computerizing crap in our parts sheds!

I opened up a classified in the wanted section also dropped a line to @daveoman1966 see if he has any - and yes I did have to grind them to get them out - checked out the Facebook market place page, there's a few parts tractors on there for 75-100 but they all have 1 1/8 axles - it's a thought but I'm not in a hurry to get another mess on the work bench .I was going to wait until spring to tackle this because I'm in my busy season ....but ...it was bugging me just sitting there needing attention ...lol

You been watching too many reruns of Christmas vacation Kev ... Reduced a perfectly good 702 to a pile of parts today. SWMBO say's candy apple red so she what she wants is what she gets! Her tractor & no point in even arguing! What you laughing about @Achto yer ideas about the flames BS! She even helped by stripping ... get yer minds out the gutter fellas... mafia in training! Got this tractor from @Shynon, an older resto of his, couple of years ago and has always been my go to tub puller and a tractor show must have. He always said good candidate for a repaint. He was right ... after looking at some of his paint runs worst than me after our new years lobster feed! Tranny is a little loud so that will get sorted out as well.
