12 pointsHi all, Spent a productive day in the workshop making a couple of moustache combs! I have a plain plastic one and thought a nice nickel silver one might look good. I used to make miniature knives so a bit of that skill set came in handy. I used the horizontal mill to cut .030in slots 1.5mm apart. The top one has mother of pearl scales with gold pins. The bottom one is a straight comb for trimming the tash. Anyone else make odd items with their skills? Mick

11 pointsI made a chess set at work for my niece for Christmas. Used old spark plugs for the pieces and wire ends to make the tops for the big ones and J.B. Weld epoxy to hold the washers to them for a base. Used a piece of scrap masonite for the board and tried to paint the squares but after 3 days of the paint not sticking to the primer coat I gave up and got a couple small sheets of pink and purple peel and stick felt and cut all the little squares out and stuck them down.

11 pointsI put a tractor together one time, built a few pieces for it too. I guess you can call it odd

9 pointsAfter almost 13 hrs and close to 700 miles on the road we are now the proud owners of a 1998 Chevy 2500. Both trucks made the trip with no problems at all...averaged 18mpg out of my F150, and to my surprise the Chevy averaged just a tick over 15, so pretty happy about that.

8 pointsTrina took her mom for a lovely walk in the White Mountain National Forest off the Kangamangus Highway. I tagged along... Sabbaday Falls is a 45 +/ - foot drop waterfall about 1/2 mile from the road. We spend a lot of time in the forest and mountains. This is truly the cleanest clearest water I've ever seen. After this we went to the Albany NH covered bridge and also explored the beginning section of the Boulder Loop Trail. The bridge was constructed in 1859 on the 3rd attempt after floods wiped out the first 2. It was put in so local valley farmers would have better access to the village of Conway NH. It's tough to see the size of this rock but the hole in the bottom is just big enough to camp in. Note the sunray she got in the lower right corner. One of the boulder walls... Probably 20 to 30 feet tall across the front. @posifour11 @JCM @Mows4three

7 pointsDug out some older pics with and without the snow cab. Snowmobile suit without the full coverage helmet was needed when the wind direction changes without cab. This is when the 2 stage shines in 20'' plus inches lands on the ground.

7 pointsAlso this table. Trina, her mom, and I were cutting firewood a few days ago and Trina and her mom both noticed the pretty grain on a particular piece of beechwood. I sliced off a piece about 2.5" to 3" thick and Trina made a table from it. @JCM you'd be proud of her .... The base is all copper pipes and fittings. ALL cut and fitted by her. Not soldered but friction fit holds it tight. The base (except the 90 elbows) is scrap from when we removed the oil system from the house. She even used recycled pipe hanger brackets from the house to hold the base to the wood top. The lower shelf is a few pieces of scrap shiplap pine cut to fit together. It acts as a point of support as well as a shelf. (That was an interesting experiment on the sliding compound miter saw. Neither of us had ever tried to join 3 things in a triangle like that. Internet search, cut some samples, learned a new skill....) She sanded the base and painted it Hammered Dark Bronze. Then sanded the top and put 3 or 4 coats of poly on the bottom, 5 or 6 on the topmost surface. Trina gave it as a "just because" gift to her Mama.

5 pointsTrina, her mom and and I spent the day being basically productive around the yard. They moved a heckovalotta firewood from the woodshed to the basement. This space was empty of firewood... We reorganized the "parts department" again. Started by taking out a little tree that was in the way of the tarp. Trina's first time ever using a chain saw. (Small electric one). Moved her mom's future tractor (C100) and Trina's next project (856 from @Herder) close to the pallet area... Recovered the area. Moved the 1267 mongrel and Charger 12 into the workshop. The 1267 will be dismantled for parts. The Charger of course is my hydro experiment tractor project. We've had a pile of stone in the side parking area for like 2 years. Dwindling as we used it wherever we needed to. Today we finished flattening/distributing the last of that 14 yard truckload. I sledgehammered out a few rocks from the path around the horse stable and moved 3, 10 cubic foot loads of that stone there. I know the pic is a bit dark but it was dark when we stopped....... While using the Cinnamon Horse dozer plow I discovered that the modification I made to the lift mechanism was moving. Removed it. Flipped it. Drilled a new hole. Installed it. Fixed... For now... I'll need to make up a thicker one soon. At the end of the day we got Trina's 867 ready for the impending 8 to 12 inches of snow over the next couple of days. AWESOME day.

5 pointsHappy birthday Jim! Once you have your first you always want more.

4 pointsI picked up this 69 GT-14 sometime back in the spring, some may remember. I chased this tractor for a while before I purchased it and it turned out it has a weak hydro gear and I was aware that something with the drive unit was off. Low on fluid, a little slow. Fresh fluids and a filter didn't save it. I believe the damage was caused by pulling it around. Well that didn't stop me from buying it. She made it back into the shop this weekend and it's time to get down to it!! She is a good looking tractor and the more time I spend looking her over the more I like what I seek. I always loved the big rear tires the long frame and hood with that giant cast-iron nose that leans forward just a bit. Its got that hot rod look, well you know for a tractor. Well here we go and I will do my best to provide pic and progress as I go. \ Here's the hydro gear that's going in after I've swopped the drive gear. I will be following the step by step tutorial from 953nut.

4 points@WildmanC120 Happy Birthday! Thanks for your involvement with our Red Square community and your input on the Predator swaps! Cool stuff like that is what makes this place so cool! Have a good day!

4 pointsTrina added a second fan/filter combo this evening. She noticed that a fair amount of the debris was coming towards her and on the floor. Problem solved.

3 pointsCame across an old digital camera with an sd card that I needed to view the pics so my Daughter graciously bought a card reader for me for Christmas.Back 7 or 8 years ago I started a refurb not a resto on my Super A that I bought in 1986 that was used mainly as a mower and not really worked all that hard and was super clean and straight. 3 years ago started it warmed it up and tried to put it in 1st gear no luck. What I found was the Clutch Housing Assembly was chock full of old carpeting, insulation and acorns. The carpeting and insulation were from some remodeling work in a pile outside the rest is history. Now the tractor needs to be split and deal with the Clutch and pressure Plate etc. I suppose when I get ambitious I should tackle it and probably put it up for sale.Included would be Factory wheel weights front and rear, rear chains, relatively new tires ,extra parts , decal set , mint hood , rear PTO pulley . Attachments included are IH # 38 disk harrow , # 189 moldboard plow, front plow blade and 3 blade belly mount mower. Interested to hear what you guys may think in your area what a fair price to ask for this package once up and running

3 pointsPut the 56 up on the table and started the mechanical resto. Have one broken hub, Briggs is gone, worn cross shaft.

3 points‘29 Ford Model A Roadster (replica) It was built in 1981 by a company called “Shay” they were sold thru Ford dealerships only. its Ford Pinto Chasis & drivetrain with fiberglass body. this one Only has 2400 actual miles. Yes 24 hundred, not thousand. I’ve driven it twice in last 7 years. Last time 3-1/2 years ago when I parked it where it’s at.. I plan to get it out this spring. We’ll probably sell it.

3 pointsI have made a couple of handy helpers for working on the . First is a dolley that can be used to remove and install a Wheel Horse transaxle without too much exertion. The other is a clamp that will hold a shift ball to be able to remove it without damaging the surface or hold it whill drilling and tapping new threads.

3 pointsHere in Western Maine we're getting ready for our first decent snow this season. Come on up and we'll let you clear the yard for us.

3 pointsEric, Your (Trina’s) photos bring back lots of memories for me. Nancy and I honeymooned near there 31 years ago. I’ll have to dig up my favorite picture from that trip. It was taken on that highway. Although we were there in late October that year, the foliage was still pretty amazing. It took us 25 years to get back to that area, but we did, we had a blast retracing our route. Thanks for posting! Happy New Year! Dave

3 pointsTrina got after the seat and rear fenders this evening. We had some fun removing the bolts to disassemble the seat and fenders. PO solutions.... She removed the paint from the seat and one fender. I straightened out the seat pan just a little with a hammer on the vise anvil. 2 coats primer, 2 coats paint. It'll need at least 1 more coat of paint but I like this textured metallic brown ALOT. One VERY nice advantage to this textured paint is that the seat surface will be slightly more resistant to "butt slide" movement. She also put a good coat of primer on the frame.

3 pointsI totally agree with the fact that it was not shared here in one form or another is bizarre. So a 60+ year dealer sells everything and nobody on the worlds largest Wheel Horse website knows anything? Makes me wonder if someone is going to show up at the big show with a whole bunch of goodies 🤔

2 pointsMost people enjoy the back story so here goes. My grandfather purchased a new 855 back in the day. His next door neighbor was so impressed by the little horse "possibly jealous" that he went out the following year and followed suit picking up this 856. When the neighbor passed my father purchased it and it saw mostly mowing duty as the 855 was worked much harder plowing snow grading etc. Growing up I have fond memories tag teaming yards for pocket money with my father on the one myself on the other. They were always struck me as simple reliable machines which required very little maintenance. That being said the machines found themselves eventually relegated to collecting cobwebs... Fast forward twenty years I got married, purchased a house and had my first born. Time I find is more precious these days and push mowing my hilly 1.7 acre yard ate far too much of that time up. My dad bless his heart felt sorry for me and gifted me the 856 which lived a much easier life of the two, and had a better chance of reviving with little effort. A few hours and some typical tune up stuff filters, fuel line, head gasket, spark plug, rebuilt the OE carb, fresh fluids, had her putting around once again! It served me well this past summer... but it deserves better! Like the million dollar man we can rebuild him...

2 pointsAll the time.... We mount our own tires and it's just easier to get them inflated if we don't have to worry about seating them.

2 pointsYou may want to do a second top a few inches above that one with perforations and sealed on perimeter and attach shop vacuum to it like a regular sanding table. It also would not hurt to introduce 3 tall sides on table to keep all dust contained on top of table. It will restrict work a bit but it will be a major improvement on dust collection.

2 pointsI have regretted almost everything that I have sold, hard to part with things that you try to maintain to the best of your ability and keep for many many years, but there comes a time when storage becomes an issue. On the other side of the coin when I do finally sell something a lot of times it is to someone who I know because I try to extend the life of that particular item so that it may live on so that person will enjoy it and help them make their life easier around the home or farm as it did mine.

2 pointsSooo good to hear from you Dave. I have to admit, I was concerned. Really great to hear Andy Is doing well. Mark is also doing well with two good check ups sine the chemo. Best Wishes to you and your family. May be we will meet in June at the big show?

2 pointsThe 05 Dakota that I have now has a Ziebart sticker on the window. There is more rust under this truck than my last 05 truck had. My last truck did not have any treatment done to it. Rubberized under coating tends to dry out & crack over time. The cracks offer up moister traps which = a good place for rust to start. I still believe that waste oil is the best under coating. JMO

2 pointsYOU DO NOT NEED GRADE 8 BOLTS. GRADE 5 ARE ALMOST THE SAME AND MUCH CHEAPER. I ALWAYS USE STAINLESS STEEL BOLTS AND NUTS BECAUSE WE HAVE THEM AT THE MARINA. AND THEY DO NOT COST ME ANYTHING.

2 pointsBeen getting some work done on "Ugly Charger" Just picked up a hood from AtoZ but this is not painting weather it will have to wait until spring. Came with a K341 which I had overhauled .010 over and .010 under on crank. Added Hydro lift. Haven't decided what her duties will be yet so i haven't decided to go manual or electric PTO. Before and now

2 pointsI'm sorry, I don't get it. Full size truck, lil bitty engine?? They may advertise HP & torque butt.... hook a load on behind that thing and see what it will really do before making a decision. I may be old school but I'm still a believer in "there is no replacement for displacement". Example: 2.7L turbo Silverado=7200lb towing at 16mpg average daily use 5.3L Silverado = 11,600lb towing at 18mpg average daily use. On average a 5.3L only cost about $1500 more than the 4cyl turbo. Above figure as tested by Car & Driver on the 2019's https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a25177218/2019-chevy-silverado-1500-four-cylinder-drive/

2 points@Mr Magoo! It sounds like the landlord doesn’t have any plans for them, why not bundle them all? It’s great to have a few spares for various chores, or if friends and family stop by!
