6 pointsI've been thinking about picking up a hydro of some sort for at least a year. I'm curious to see what it's like to plow snow with one. This one was found by @Stepney Spenser. Near as he can figure it's a 1970 model year. It needs a changeover from a bad module to a Points ignition system. From there some wiring and a test drive to see how the transmission performs. If all goes well up til then I'll take apart the transmission and change axles and hubs on both sides. Then see where we go.....

6 pointsMy favorite Christmas scene is the Nativity Scene in front of our county court house. The birth of Christ has been celebrated in the same location for several decades.

4 pointsWent to my neighbors farm today to help clean up some downed trees. This is a place so peaceful and inspirational. In a deep valley below that up above also has a marker that is the highest point in Tennessee. If you look close in the picture just to the right of the bench there's a stick with an eight point rack on it. It fell a few feet from where it's now posted. It appears someone shot it and ran to this point and died here on private land. Water is crystal clear and full of aquatic life. These boulders are a product of interstate 65 here when it was built. Was told these were a product of when they dynamited rock and scattered it in and around this valley. A couple of them are as big as a mini Cooper and have visible drill holes still in them. 4 pointsIMHO, upgrade to the Front Mule Drive and ditch all that cumbersome Side Drive apparatus. Very easy to do and you'll find all the stuff on Ebay or in the vendors section here. Belt tension is adjusted by the Front Knob of the Mule Drive. You'll also need to use a different drive belt. There is also a MS Word Document DOWNLOAD narrative on what and how to do this. upgrade. Here are the parts needed to upgrade...mostly: MULE DRIVE UPGRADE DETAIL.docx

3 pointsI still have all the bits off my Charger 9 hydro lift if it ever comes to that. Lowell sells new hoses too. Meant to tell you earlier but it just clicked now.
-
3 pointsUnfortunately you don't have the hydraulic lift system, that is the real pleasure of snow plowing with a hydro.
-
3 pointsAlright alright alright... So the paint department did a little grinding today while I was working on the bandsaw and fabricating a hitch bracket. More about that later. Here's today's progress... A little more sanding in the corners and the frame will be ready for paint.

3 pointsI can appreciate the desire to stand out in a crowd, got to give the builder a on that count. But, how the heck would a person get onto it, and once you were there how would you keep it from tipping over on a side hill or sharp turn? ? ? You NEED it, buy it and let us know how you like the view from up there.
-
3 pointsNo, that’s just a well used, still working! That’s just missing a headlight! Did I mention still working.. 💪😄👍

3 pointsI got it gentlemen. Thank you. So many different styles of this tractor. Scored on this. Bought for $100 for a project tractor for my 13 yr old son. New head gasket, deckbelt, oil change, air filter, and sharpened the blades. Kid is all smiles.

2 pointsI just bolt them together but I can see now how the "staying original" apple did not fall far from the tree!
-
2 pointsFirst a hydro, then a hyd lift, then a cab, then a heated cab, then a blade angle lever inside the cab. All snow plowers will get there eventually as they get older and wiser.
-
2 pointsI can't believe what I am seeing, I hope I'm in line for a test run on that someday, your left leg will have to find something else to do now. Best of luck with it, stay in touch.

2 pointsI myself have recently just picked up two charger 10s of course the motors are toast but the bones of the tractor are all good and intact! I myself can't wait to get a motor on these to get them moving once again ! Looks good Eric!
-
2 pointsI still have the Receipt and the tractor from 87. Tractor, mower, 48'' blade and weights.

2 pointsYuppers I mostly work on so many gm cars and chevy Trackers I have a good collection of factory corrigated coatings I always wrap with, as for the 2 stator and the trigger wire for the ignition I use woodstove door gasket coated with high temp silicon to protect the wries....and as for die/electric grease if its not coated on all joints one might as well just forget wireing all together heheheheh. Right now I am just using all old wire I have kicking around, but I did buy a number of roles to copy what I am putting now. Its all trial fit, making sure all works proper then I remove ols and copy with new.....I dont mind electrical but Id rather be forming, machining, or customising metal parts hahahah.
-
2 pointsthat's a good buy at 225, not rare but an very uncommon tractor and the sheet metal is in great shape. they drive nice. that's an easy restore

2 pointsThat pickee should be informed of this new invention call Ebay Jason. Us Clinton fans cringe when we see their prices there not to mention NOS parts. I just picked a box of NOS Clinton parts for a Grant. Might have took it up the rear, maybe not we'll see. Have yet to sort out what's all in it. I aspire to be a Clinton expert like Clinton Nut or Vin. Truth be told one reason I wanted to score this one was to have to come get it from Bob spend some quality time with him! Another reason was it would have been nice to display it beside early the RJ's to point out the transmission. You have one @refracman why are we not seeing !?!?!? Is the Briggs orginal?

2 points40w motor oil has been working in my L107 for 52 years and she is used year round. We have a tendency to Over think this oil/lubrication stuff. these are not high speed high stress trannies. Change whatever you use and keep the water out and they will outlive you!!!!
-
2 pointsWow guys. Just being a Pond would, in my mind, would add some value. Well, it would for me. I like Jim's idea of the sulky and shows. I'm sure it would have gotten a lot of attention.

1 pointWe have an old roll around table that my grandfather built at least 3 decades ago. It's extremely handy. I put a vice on one corner many many years ago. It's become Trina's go to work station. Just the right height. Roughly 30 by 40 inches. She's been looking for a way to grind paint and rust indoors and we talked about that in another thread here somewhere. We put a furnace filter on the face of a box fan and she fastened the fan to the corner of the table. She also put a power strip on the leg of the table for a handy 120 volt electric source. She tried it out this evening by removing more paint with the grinding wheel. Worked great!

1 pointReally wish I had read this post a week ago. I've got an engine stand I decided to clean up and paint, now there is red dust on everything in my garage... oh well, at least it's red

1 pointI think you've talked me into the Lawnmaster/PC. Even now that I have an idea what it is I still can't find a pic of one like it online. I'll never have to worry about the neighbors getting the same thing. And the price is right. I'm not terribly worried about the mechanicals. Bearings and seals on most equipment this age is as close as the nearest National or Timken catalog and as long as the other hard parts are good I don't think I'll be working it hard enough to cause any problems. I'm going to try to go get it January 4th. It's been on the market forever. My luck is that it will sell in the next few days. We'll see.

1 pointI got a chance to work in the garage tonight, i decided it was time to rebuild the idler pullies, the old bearing were barely hanging on for life. I purchased some 6200rs bearings online a while back. I chucked the pullies in the lathe and turned off the rivet heads, and split the pullies. I wire wheeled the rust off of them while i had them apart I took time a while ago to make this pulley anvil and it works out fantastic! There is a nut welded in the center hole at the bottom, to thread a bolt in to hold the two halves together when striking. The longer piece of square tube is to clamp it in the bench vise so it doesnt bounce across the workbench. The dimples hold the rivet heads then assembly of the two halves, new bearing and new rivets a little press together with the arbor press, bolt it in and strike the new rivets. Here they are all done The clutch idler installed

1 pointGot my first born out today with the 48 inch blade in tow. With the temps to near 60 this week its hard to get in the mood to push snow so im doing some dirt work on my hillside. This 414-8 has a strong push. I have some logs to move ill get some pics on that later! Of course shes had a bath!!
-
1 pointTrans had fluid in it when I had looked. I'd drain it before attempting to drive and change the filter. Who knows how long it's been sitting. 25+ years is what the PO told me.
-
1 pointYes, it’s been on there a long time. He just dropped the price in the last week or two. It was $300 and I think I remember it being $400 before that.

1 pointThose are pretty cool little rig. I can't answer for the specific value of that machine or anything close to it but I'm telling you right now the TIRES are worth that much. The rest is just free....

1 pointMy trailer I built is heavy 10 gauge box. It only has 6" high sides and and no tail gate. The axle is centered hauling a load of dirt you can't get as much on the rear so I have never had the problem Eric mention. The 6" side helps when loading with a shovel.

1 pointI don't typically use thread sealant on fuel fittings unless they leak, since pipe threads are designed to not leak in the first place. If they do, it's typically only a small drip, and I've used Teflon tape on tractors and cars with no issues. I had a drip at the inlet of the sediment bowl on my dad's 57 Chevy when I put the 350 in it. I put Teflon on the threads to stop it. 8 years and about 10,000 miles later, still no drip. Just make sure you wrap the tape in the right direction!

1 pointThis corn maze in Franklin, NC was done in much the same way. After the corn was planted and had grown to about nine inches a GPS guided Zero Turn mower cut the paths. Truly amazing!
-
1 pointOK, time to take a little poll here. Everyone who has dumped clean oil through an engine or transmission onto the floor/ground raise your hand, The rest of you are liers!
