Worked on my snowplow RJ setup today. Put plow on and chains. Ran it around to make sure she will be ok for snow duty! Also charged up the battery on the 1967 Lawn Ranger with snowblower. I think I am ready for whatever comes this winter!

Wew what a long day, pulled the hydro off and replaced it with a 8 speed, but there are a number of differences....struggled with adapting the clutch and brake linkages but all seems good....I hope? flipped the rear boots to larger atv's.....Big Red looks alot meaner ar ar ar. Still have to find some spindles I can adapt to the front for those new boots though. I noticed the tie rods wear caput too so I purchased larger 7/16" tie rod ends and fabed up the struts from some 1/2" stock I hat laying around. Tomorrow Ill be back onto the underside sheet metal and brackets.

Finally got “The Stretch” finished up. (Yearly improvements) Ready for next years shows.. Time to bring another one in the shop. This was originally built & stretched by a Karl Stohry. I just did a few modifications and added a lot of bling.

Tested out the HY-3 with the plow yesterday. Got the wife on the tractor too. Shes hooked now and want's one of her own. I only made 2 or 3 out of the 20 or so passes because she was having so much fun! Couldn't get it to sink in well without added weight but it cut a good 8" deep furrow with me standing on the plow! Theres a C-160 in a hedge row here locally I have a friend going to aquire about. Maybe that can be her tractor?

I did a little tree trimming around the yard today so I woke Radpferd from the start of his winter nap to haul brush and some chunks of wood. Given the fact that he is glow plug deficient he doesn't really like the cold much, but I figured since it was 44 degrees today that he would like to stretch his legs a bit. Well he wasn't very happy about being woke up. To demonstrate his dismay over the whole ordeal first he filled the garage with white smoke. After that he sat outside and huffed & puffed white smoke for a few minutes. What a Big Baby! . Well eventually he got over his little tantrum & we were able to get some work done.

I have two early Mid-Grader Blades that I can use on all my tractors (other than the RJ’s). the one with the tab in front was modified by a previous owner so it could be a Mid-Grader blade and a rear pull behind blade by placing the tab in the rear slot hitch. Works great and was the first type of mid-grader blade made by Wheel Horse. You had to place a pin in one of three holes to angle the plate. The other mid-grader blade is a later version ( about 1966 or 1967) and it has a handle on it to adjust the angle of the grader blade. You can adjust it while sitting on the seat of the tractor.

There might be some chuckles with this but I'll risk it. A few years back, with my son we were into building RC trucks that plowed snow and did other things. The most effective snow plowing version was the mid-mount because it controlled the torque. It weighed only 12lbs so it was limited to what it could handle but it was very easy to drive. Maybe things dont "scale up", but a mid mount with some down pressure and maybe a heavy rubber flap running on top of the blade for more capacity seems it would do great in snow...and be a ton of fun to operate too. How cool would it be if the vendor above offered a new mid mount attachment? He seems to make nice stuff and is capable. And there definitely seems to be a scarcity of used mid mounts out there!

From this to this, Raider 10 (Techy) to Raider 16 (Kohler) I used the engine, wiring harness, voltage regulator, key switch and control cables from a C-160. I reused the drive pully from the techy in order to maintain the same size. Everything fit as it should and the Raider 16 was born. Big Blocks Rule!!

This 48” plow came with “Big Junky” and I thought it would be fun to toss on “Jane”. The frame appears to be custom with unique mounts too. I’ve never plowed with a tractor and thought it would be cool to have a worker if I had the chance to hop out of the truck and onto a I also though I might attempt to plow down some of the grass in the field to push some deer towards the bedding area I planted last year in the back of the property.

Now I can find the switch and make easy adjustments. @ebinmaine the job was easier than I figured. Luckily, this desk just showed up today, my mom asked me to store a few things and this was an unwanted piece! I just need to build a fence of sorts...

Terrible husband award, this project hasn’t much changed lately! I’m in high gear to finish it up ASAP. I decided after spending some time at @PeacemakerJack‘s house for the plow day, the shower wall should be taller and have no glass. I’ll upgrade the lighting instead of using natural light. Today, I grabbed a bunch of pine 1 by and I’ll be cutting it into shiplap. Using this old desk, I’m building a router table to speed up the process.

have been working on Irv and like a fool I open the garage door and couldn't resist pushing this one in the shop . All complete except for it needs a motor. No repaint sand it down and leave the patina ! all the hardware and deck parts are intact hopefully the transmission is good!

If you could figure a way so I could plow my driveway with heavy wet snow here in Maine while sitting in front of my wood stove like I am doing as I write this you would be a very wealthy man my friend.

We have one of the later ones here. I bought it thinking that I might be able to use it on Cinnamon horse or Patriot to grade the driveway and Forest paths. So what do I do? I put it on Trina's 867 and let her try it out. Do you think I've used that thing since??? Nope. She's like a little five-year-old. Driving around in figure eights and swirls and circles and straight lines and crooked lines and ups and downs and lefts and rights... Until she likes the way the driveway looks. Maybe someday in the far distant future if I'm a very very good boy I'll be able to use my own grader blade.

Just figured I'd chime in even though the leave seasons about finished here in New England. I've been a member here for a while and I do read the posts but never had too much to offer (lots of smart guys here!) even though I'm 2nd generation Wheelhorse. My father had a 1960 something ?, then a 1978 C-101 that I still use. I've been debating for a few years on either the Cyclone or the DR leave vacuums. A friend has a Cyclone & another an older DR with the plastic box. I saw both in use and pulled the trigger on the DR (I also have a DR brush mower, chipper & power grader, they are built like Wheelhorses to last a lifetime) I have about 2 acres of oak, beech and poplar and couldn't be happier. I put about 25 hours on the vac this fall, and it did a great job with no issues. The DR vac will pick up pine needle & cones, grass and all my leaves (did have to use 2nd low for a section of 6 inch deep oak leaves, but got them all. The best part is one handed dumping that empties the complete trailer in less that a minute. The only draw back I have found is you have to keep your turns wider so the tube doesn't pop off. I talked to their tech support guys before I bought it about the China motor and was told they have used these motors on a lot of their equipment for about 10 years with no issues. He said they bought the plant a few years ago and now manufacture the engines. It looks like a copy of a B/S, which from what I can gather are now mostly made in China & Mexico. It's used behind my 315-8 with a 48 inch deck, perfect combination. Here's a couple pics of the vac and my tractors. My winter project is to pull the Kohler off the C-101 for rebuilding. Got to have 1000s of hours on it. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Some people are much better at neglecting things than maintaining them, they are better at destroying them then they are at fixing them. It's not that they are bad people, they are just bad at fixing things. It's not that I am perfect, I am just a bit fanatical about thing. I find it takes less time to fix it properly then it takes to rig it and rig it and then rig it again.

in some ways tractors meant to be used and not last forever and yes owners do stupid things to keep them operating even if it's wrong. your better off using your better judgment and letting these junk worn out machines go to the scrapyard or get parted out that's circle of life. be selective, spending a little more on something that was taken better care of and maintained will save you a lot of headaches.

I might have done this once or twice! I'm easily distracted. As for the engine swap, I went from a HH120 to a K321 with no issues. Used the pulley and everything. Not the same tractor but the base is the same on the Tecky so it's likely the same. Only thing I had to do was modify the belt cover some.

That is the fixed idler pulley. A shorter belt would not change its location Pete. The pulley bracket may have been moved forward by the PO for some reason. Possibly to gain tension to use an incorrect too long belt. Look for additional holes in the frame or pulley bracket to determine if it was moved .

Yesterday I was using a couple of the "Horses" to finish up leaf cleanup in the back yard.

I will do an experiment this year and try both of my grader blades on one tractor at the same time to see how it performs during a snowfall on the driveway, I can put one in the center attachamatic and one in the rear slot hitch! Might helt with wet snow or ice.

Haven't got it hydro- locked have you? Take the plug out and crank it over for a few seconds. If it's locked up , most the time it's too much fuel in the cylinder .

Not to disrespect Farmers but when you work on old farm tractors you come across a lot of Farmer Fixes. In the older times farmers only had 1 or 2 tractors and if it broke down it had to be "fixed" fast as the manure had to be spread hay bailed etc. no time to wait for parts to be shipped in from Racine Wisconsin, Waterloo Iowa or Rock Island Ill. Some of these farmer field fixes were still functioning on my Cases and Farmall 40-50 years later. Not pretty, kinda of dodgy but effective....

@The Tool Crib my thoughts exactly! My fence is trued up good enough for who it’s for. Now I can clamp it in place and run a few test depth cuts before processing my lumber.

Oh yeah, I remembered to do that...took a dozen or so good hits with the ball peen and a 3/16" punch to get that out.

It is a frame bolted to a frame, with a sandwich plate welded to the front of the second one. I believe the front frame has no serious modification done.

Got my GT1600 and my Arien’s blower ready. Fresh oil, grease, gas etc... The factory fuel shutoff was leaking on the Ariens, had to remove a bunch of stuff to get to it including the fuel tank I literally JUST FILLED UP! Oh well, all fixed now. My C105 is my back up plow machine, that one is not ready yet. Bring on the white stuff!!

You and @stevasaurus both thought of Spring or Fall and have already surpassed my artistic though process. My simple mind initially said leaves are green and stems are brown with maybe a little stain of some sort wiped across to vary them a little. So I'd did good coming to this forum to widen my artistic approach. @Yossarian wife, I'm liking the Fall idea. So lead me onward.

Getting closer to having my HY-3 rockshaft done! Got home and test fit it in the tractor and it all lined up and operated smooth!
