6 pointsWasn't sure I was gonna' do this but I may be absent for a while. Lost Mother back in May a month before her 99th birthday. She had a pretty good life and didn't have any pain. Miss her a lot but life goes on. Fast forward to October. Six month check up and annual blood test. Blood test was off so more tests including bone marrow. (The plot thickens) Results not so good. Acute Leukemia... So heading for Hershey Medical Center Sat. morning to start chemo treatments. I feel great. No idea anything was wrong until blood test. What ever the future holds I haven't missed much. Dr. says seven straight days of chemo really brings you down and infection is a big concern. Been getting blood test Mon, Wed, and Fri for the last two weeks in case I need a transfusion until they could get me into Hershey. Dr said after chemo we could talk about stem cell transplants..... Anyhow, lots of unknowns. I'll update when I can. Hope to see you all in June.. Jay

4 pointsHot oil. The crud is in suspension not laying on the bottom where it will stay while you drain. i have never heard of draining cold oil as being the best choice

4 pointsI did😊 Havent gotten to the PTO, yet...my skills n workspace are limited, so i e been tackling smaller stuff first, and gathering info; just trying to straighten out PO's 'fixes'; posted a few threads on that with pics. But since you asked, here isa few more.😊 I know they arent a tion shots; just a man's Horse at rest... but he needs a good going over; gonna take me a bit to get it all done/sorted. 3 pointsI too have always run the engine a little prior to draining the oil, same deal, get the crud in suspension rather than leaving it sitting in the oil pan.

3 pointsThis is an Doubleaction plow. basically built for a 11HP 2 Wheeler tractor in early 70‘ies It was not the weak trash you can buy now, it was an older version, what was a bit more stable. This Plow is usable for both directions to Plow. It also was not the complete plow, it is just the importantst thing of the whole mechanism. The mounting hitch i decide to build myself, because i wanna a System similar like this. so you can sit on tractor, pull once on the Lever and the plow turns over. Like in this Video.... Not too hard to built, but if you buy, it cost completely about 700-1000 Bucks. I payed just 45€ for the Plow, and the turn mechanic is a perfect Project until Springtime...😎 Also while i have an option to a smaller Field with 20m by 50m where i thinkering to purchase. We just dealing about the Price.. 😎

3 pointsI plan on doing some better shots of it this weekend outside, but as to make sure you guys don't have to wait too long here's some shots of it in the garage until I can get some better ones. The 195 is a TANK, it makes the 175 and 145 look tiny in comparison...not to mention the poor little ole' 655 in the back, may as well be a push mower

3 pointsThat was my plan with the 418-C I picked up a couple years ago, then one thing led to another and I gave it a much needed cosmetic upgrade. It ran and drove so well it would have been a shame to not show it a little love. Well worth the effort in my opinion.

2 pointsThe 312 will come with front and mid tach-a-matic brackets, no issue. The Raider can be adapted to use them quite easy, if they aren't there already. Both gear driven and 12hp. Its an even field mostly. That Raider will likely have a limited slip diff though. Something the 312 never offered. Makes going much easier on mud and snow. I also prefer the way an old narrow hood drives. The steering feels smoother on the Raider, and .. while the 312 isn't complex .. the Raider is as simple as it gets. Personally I'd take the Raider.

2 pointsmessed around with the lights just because I got bored, once I can make up my mind on an engine I will finalize the brackets and wiring, until then let there be light. tomorrow hopefully finish up the seat pan. it's ugly but it's solid now. I picked up a nice square cover for it

2 pointsYou never know what kind of a hand life will deal you. In my case my hands began to become progressively more numb while this project was going on. Long story short I had Carpal Tunnel Release surgery on both hands in October (two weeks apart) and have been following doctors orders. The right hand continues to have some numbness but It should go away and using them will do no harm I was able to resume work on the GT-14 assembly a few days ago and finished it today (with the exception of some @Vinylguy decals that I have asked Santa for ) The transaxle is working well and while it was apart I repaired the parking brake. The repaint is a twenty footer at best, no need of making this worker a trailer queen. Figured I should take a few pictures before I get it dirty.

2 pointsA lift assist spring would certainly help with the 60" blade. If you don't require a high lift height, it can be linked to the hole closer to the shaft which gives quite a bit more leverage.

2 pointsWell I managed to get some paint on the seat tray. I'm not 100% happy with it but needs must at this time of year. Now its painted I have assembled the seat and fitted the rear lights.

2 pointsMr. Jay, best wishes for your road ahead, hopefully things were caught so soon that the treatment kicks that crap into remission in a jiffy! I hear chemo wears on even the strongest of folk, but I believe you’ve got the strong mindset to make that long trek to the big show in June!

2 pointsI've used starting fluid ever since I was a little kid and started riding snowmobiles. We started selling Ski-doo's in the mid '60s and later had Moto Ski's, Ariens Arrow's (we called them Ariens Errors), Fox Trac's, and Snow Pony's. Because of this we also had many different used machines, so I've ridden on most of the old snowmobiles. Back then I could barely pull the rope or cable to start them, and almost none of our snowmobiles had electric starts, so it really helped get them going. I believe back then it was just straight ether, which was known to cause problems, but the stuff I have now has a lubricant in it, so I think it is a lot safer on engines to use now. Like others have mentioned, I also use it sometimes for a quick test if an engine won't start to see if it's a fuel problem or something else. C-85

2 pointsThere's a whole bunch of C's ..... I'm sorry for the bad joke, I'll C myself out....ok, now time to get serious. Just brought home my third C-Series a few nights ago, a good condition C-195. Thanks in large part to @HOOCHIECOO for picking it up in Indiana, and bringing it partway for me, met him in PA and took it home from there. Another Indiana tractor moving to Connecticut Now to look out for some attachments for the 3 point hitch, and possibly a PTO, I plan on doing a lot of groundwork this coming spring with it, working on leveling out my property and expanding my lawn!

2 pointsThe transaxle is simply a reservoir for the trans fluid...and isn't pressurized. The dipstick has a rubber grommet to exclude debris as the internals of the Sundstrand pump are HIGHLY sensitive to any contaminant. I have a C-160..same trans... and a few Dipsticks....will have a look-C if I have one for you. If so, $20 bux ...shipped.

1 pointI'm going to put a second vote on what Ed said above. Seems to me for manufacturing reasons and simplicity and cost-effectiveness it just was easier to put it on that side of the engine. The only thought I have about expanding one of the holes to put a lift loop on the tin side is I would maybe try to get the loop so that it is faced in a direction to block as little air as possible.
