I picked this up years ago and started restoring it then it has sat for 4 years till now. It was rough. Hood had a lot of mods from previous owner. Yes it is getting a predator.

Today I finally got to wrench on one of my two tractors for the first time since purchase. The PO had installed a standard SPST toggle switch to the LOAD side of the starter solenoid to bypass it, so I suspected it bad. Turns out it tested ok. So I pulled the ignition switch and found the connections really corroded, especially the power blade which obviously has gotten hot before. So it tested ok after cleaning, and I reinstalled it. (it really needs to be replaced) Cleaned up everything, installed a new battery hoping for magic... and ... nothing. Looking around, I found the main fuse blown. I put a new fuse in it, and I got SOME magic! All the lights work on the dash, they test, but the start solenoid still didn't engage. Figuring I'd bypass it just to see if the motor fired off, I pulled the spark plug out to clean and check it .. when suddenly... THE STARTER ENGAGED AND BEGIN SPINNING THE MOTOR!!! Ignition switch is turned off. I freak out and grabbed the main fuse and pulled it... it stopped! The next hour was with a wiring diagram where I isolated a place behind the ignition switch where the red had melted into the tan wire. Long story short, it runs with a prime, but no fuel going to carb. Probably the pump. I'll keep you posted after I put on clean pants!!!

Worked on this new to me C-145 abit this weekend. Gave her a bath & the usual fluids & filters. PO had all the safety switches removed & bypassed and even had the audacity to put one in place of the key switch for a start button! Luckily the original key switch plug was not hacked up so a new $10 Indak and all was good again. Traced down a intermittent charge issue to the stator plug which was corroded. Got the connectors looking almost brand new but still gets warm when running. Going to ditch the ammeter for a voltage guage and add an hour meter. Swapped out the busted up fender pan for one off a parts 520 & new seat. Real happy with how the motor runs tho. Very strong and no smoke but can't figure why only a 36 in deck on it. This tractor is going to go to the cabin for mowing duty to replace a pos Murray. Need to add a hitch yet but baffles me how someone did this!

I haven’t been on much lately in the last couple months. For this that don’t know, I started a new job (after being a stay at home dad fo four years) at the end of August. I am working in a distribution center for a major retailer that sports the same colors as our tractors. Because of that, along with everything else life normally throws at me, I’ve been just too dang exhausted to do much at a time. But, the Charger looks a little different than the last time any of you guys saw it. I hooked up with @pullstart a couple weeks ago and got a fender pan for it to cut up the way I wanted to. I’m slowly but surely cleaning it up. Haven’t decided if I’m going to pull the Techumseh off yet, but I am going to rewire it at the very least. Hope everyone’s doing well, I do miss being around the forum and chatting with you guys, but the babies gotta eat 🤷🏻‍♂️

Well today got the 145 ready for the white stuff. Put on snowblower, put on cab, added a cargo carrier with 300 lbs. of solar salt for weight. Put caps over the shortened bolts. Check all fluids. Went over the blower with usuall begining of season maintenance.

My opinion is that Ags are lousy for snow clearing on asphalt or concrete driveways. I went with this style tread a few years back and they are GREAT! I have 75#’s of cast iron wheel weights on each rear rim and don’t run chains.

I could not get up my steep paved driveway with 2 link Vee Bar chains. I had to plow down and circle around through the grass to get back up. With the turfs and rubber chains, I can plow up and down.

So what turbo does she get? Seriously though, That’s really cool the she gets her own tractor. Gets to hang out with dad.

Sorry for lack of updates lately. Not much changed. Waiting of getting my frame flange welded as well as the new plate picked up for added strength. Also was able to find a starter/generator belt guard for free. That made me very happy Snagged these today. Thanks to Mark Himelick for getting the tractor they were on. Not in as good as shape as I hoped but will hopefully work on the 1045 project.

Good to hear another horse is on its way to coming back to life in Texas. Before you chunk the pump go through the fuel system piece by piece. Disconnect the hose from the carb and crank it to see if your getting fuel there? If not, disconnect the hose from the pump and see if your getting gas to pump. The hose or the fine mesh strainer in the bottom of the tank fuel shut off valve could be plugged. When you have fuel flow there reconnect to pump and disconnect pump outlet hose and see if you get fuel out of pump when you crank it. (My C81 had been sitting several years and the pump was gummed up with ethanol crystals. I disassembled, cleaned and reassembled it and it worked perfectly.

Gotta make a few adjustments yet today with the clutch rod n a few other things on my Trailblazer 7, but she's a runner!😊 (And yea, a one pull starter, when the owner pays attention...4got to set the choke🤣) Excuse the poor video angles; my disability makes it hard to hold my phone while tryin to do something with my other hand... And if the video doesnt show...lol, yes...my 1st time using this feature on my phone... EDIT---Sorry, no video yet, lol

Not that I don't like the looks of the orginal fender pans Tony but if they would have been made from sheet steel now that's repairable. Guessing they did'nt figure these tractors would be around this long! The whole corner was gone on this one but if it's any consolation the decal was was in good shape so I cut it out and placed it on the shelf of honor in the shop.

You were right Kev... deck is not on right, didn't do much about it yet tho. Feeling too crappy from a nasty cold I caught from Cindy. Only reason I want a four wheel cart Tom, lord knows I got more tubs than Carter's got pills, you can stick a small frame in them for easy storage! Put a small slit in that weight Bill @Blackhood Bill and you and move snow and salt ice at the same time!

I guess I'll be the odd duck out at the moment... I plow and snowblow (depending on amount) with a pair of 520Hs mounted with Lawn Trac R1 AG tires that are fluid filled along with iron wheel weights and then a custom rear bracket for suitcase weights on the blower tractor... With this particular brand tire I have had NO issues with slippage on our inclined asphalt driveway... Before this brand I had Nankang and Deestone AGs which required the use of chains even with the addition of wheel weights... Also the older a tire is the harder the rubber ,the less flex and less tractive forces... I do believe turfs allow more rubber to force the chain to dig in more effectively than AGs unless you get the diamond or net style chains... So just to reiterate IMPO the Lawn Trac R1 or Carlisle TruPower AGs would be my go to tire of choice but loaded with fluid and additional wheel weights. VIDEO0124.mp4

We serviced anything that came through the door, so we 'saw' most everything for saws. We even sold Wright Saws, which Poulan ended up buying - C-85

If some of your wires have already emitted magic smoke and there are corroded connections you may want to consider doing a complete rewire. In the long run you will save time and aggravation. Your connections can be renewed with some Delphi Packard GM 56 male and female connectors where needed.

Put a freshly redone hood on my C120. Something fell on it about 10 yrs ago and I finally redid one of my spare hoods so I could just swap it out. Cleaned and detailed the headlight assembly, added a new headlight lens , LED bulbs , fresh wire clips , new decals (thanks Terry). First time in 23 yrs that it's had the right decals on it , maybe now I can relax...…..

I have no clue Tom but here's what I do know... now let it be known I am not a huge cat lover but I tolerate and feed them. They go in my gravel floored warehouse and think it's their personal very large cat box BUT I don't like mice even worst. My house was/has been infested with them but since the invention of the barn cat I have no mice. Just the other day putting tractors to bed I saw a mouse eyeballing a tractor tin and left the door open for the cats to get in. Day later mouse carcass on the front sidewalk. 'Nother down side is I like to feed birds so sometimes that does not have a happy ending. Most of the females get fixed and feral males go on a lead diet. I do have a older larger fixed male who sneaks in the house once in awhile for a treat... his name is Tom! As far as putting tractors away for the winter pretty much the same as Dan @Achto but I pull the batts, tag them as to which tractor they came off of, bring them into the heated shop and rotate them on tenders.

I was planning on switching the rear fender on mine also. Great looking tractor! Thats the first hitch area I’ve seen cracked. Must have given the tractor a running start before pulling something! 🤷‍♂️

Don’t know if it will come in tonight but they are predicting a couple of inches of snow. That is my cue to put the “winter blanket” on the Goat until next May... Drove it in to the local fuel station and topped it off with premium and a can of SeaFoam. Zach and judge went with me so that they could ride it in one more time for 2019. Always a sad night but gives me something to look forward to for next spring...

Head lights are 35 watt so two are drawing about 5.6 amps. Maybe another 1 amp for tail lights. You should be good. however you say it shows charge when running no lights on. Have you load tested your battery?? Should show charge briefly after starting up but after running for a bit it should go back to Zero. If the battery is bad it will continue to show a charge. Very cool to get a set of originals.... is that sidewall crack bad? It's not like there is a surplus of 1045 WH branded front tires available, I'd say lucky to find them on a donor machine. If not capable of doing it yourself, I think I'd take that to a tire shop and have them boot or patch the inside. They won't want to because it's small and a pain to work on. We don't run that much pressure in GT tires... but you don't want to chance that ripping through and your tube blowing a bubble out there.

I found these on C/List for $10.00 I ask if they hold air they said? For $10.00 I took a chance and went to look at them with my dog. They fit but I think there a little taller. Nice country ride in the rain. I will put the chains on and the wheel weights.

If you lift the 3 point hitch with a jack you can move the lift lever to release any pressure. Not likely there will be any internal pressure as the unit has not been run for a while.

Silly question... I found the valve that I can turn to put the transmission in neutral so I can push this heavy tractor around. Is there a neutral valve for the lift cylinder? The pin holding the piston is only about halfway through and just about worn away. Obviously its not running right now so I cant operate the life with the lever and try and monkey in a new pin that way. Any thoughts? Thanks

Looks like somebody hooked on to it Cribs and took off at warp speed. I haven't tried a new pin and draw bar yet Kev but think it will be ok for light duty tub pulling. Yup all lights work even got the rears wired. The seat pan and even seat mount off the 520 bolted right up. Haven't tied into the deck yet that's next. Usually the first thing I do on a new to me is pull the deck and inspect but was too eager to get at all the other little stuff. Deck sounds quiet tho A carb cleaning and fresh gas starts and runs great! Those solid mounts are the real answer tho!

Awesome pictures Ed, thanks for sharing! I went outside last night to put some wood in the fire and came about 15 yards from a buck bedding in the middle of my front yard! I paused, he stood up slow, did his hissing/blow warning, then I backed back into the house to show Mrs. P, but by then he was gone. I’ve been busy or gone all month, I’m looking forward to getting into my stand here in the next couple weeks.

We lost our Sears about a year ago. Them and Wards just went the wrong way with the stuff they were trying to sell. Miss Sears tools more than anything else they had. Lowes is selling all the craftsman tools now in their stores. Just don't seem right.

Nice. I like that tread pattern better than the newer flatter style. My 87 has this pattern. I have them wore down pretty good now though.
