11 pointsI’m restoring a 81 C-125 and the mounts are shot. I contacted Zack Kerber to see if he was interested in making some for the Wheel Horse guys. The Cub solid mounts are different and won’t work. He told me to send a old mount in and this is what he came up with. He modeled them from the stock mount and they fit perfect. Not sure if they are on his web site yet.

9 pointsA fellow purchased an old building in Rossburn Manitoba, all he was after was the lot. When the wrecking crew was dismantling the building which at one time was used as a photo studio. Stuffed in between the walls some 2500 glass negatives were discovered, this type of medium used to make a photographic print is by contact, the glass with the image is placed over a photo sensitized paper ( dark room or under cover ) if the image were exposed in the darkroom an artificial UV light source such as that produced from a carbon arc lamp, an outdoors exposure by sunlight. Both the image captured on glass and the paper which will receive the print are both enclosed in a light tight box, on a very bright sunny day the box would be opened for a few seconds, on a cloudy day it might take as long as several minutes to make the exposure. The glass used to capture the image as seen through the view camera is actually a positive. One long cold winter Pat and myself digitized these images, the pictures posted are first and last. The studio pictures are very boring with the same background setting. From the 2500 images there may have been 30 notable images. Life in the early days, enjoy.

8 pointsI’ve been loosing air in a front tire of my zero turn since about day 2. I got tired of pumping it up a while back, fought to break down the tire and cram a way oversized tube in it, then I think I tore the tube. I’ve been dreading the repair again because fighting small tires and wheels is the worst in my book! I found this plate with a ho,e in it and bolted the wheel to the plate for very simple breakdown. The dealer suggested I feel the inside of the tire to make sure there isn’t a thorn stuck in it before re-assembly. Smart move, now I’m ready to pop it all together with the right sized tube!

8 pointsHey All, I just inherited a 414-8 from my late father in law. It was his pride and joy, so I have been working on getting it restored. I probably put more into it than is worth, but it’s all good. New starter, tires, battery, fuel lines, and now working on rebuilding the transmission. Once that’s done.. should be good to go.

7 pointsBecause Zach isn’t old enough to have his own account yet...I’m posting this one for him...but it is a BIG ONE. He got to drive his GT-14 named “Blackbeard” for the very first time today—SOLO! He was so stoked! He has owned it for three full years but it has been too tired to do much for the last two years. We just finished repowering it with a monster Magnum 16 and he loves it. Just like that and he was gone to investigate the back acreage! What’s better than a boy and his horse?

6 pointsWell to the shagrin of my dear wife I just bought another 312=8 , already have two but I told her I needed it up north at deer camp (shh dont tell her) I think I got a good deal, rear discharge mower and it runs like a top (so he said anyway) has ag tires that dont leak. . he is going to drive the 140 miles to deliver it and I gave him $310 for it . you ask me about the ones I have , I have mower , tiller and push blade on one , have snow blower and cab mounted on other one so I dont have to change them out every season. did I make a good deal?

5 pointsBeen a somewhat productive summer. Haven't gotten all the house chores done yet but have gotten several gt,s going. Just yesterday I finally finished the exhaust on my 416-8 with the BF Onan. Been tinkering with this off and on since last summer. Now I am jumping on my yardpro steering issues, then my 1949 Simplicity L walk behind and over the winter I am getting my C-121 back to its old glory. Picked up a new Tig welder to help with the repairs.

4 pointsDubs.. You have certainly come to the right place anything ! Fuel coming out of the carb usually means a stuck float. Try tapping on the bowl gently and see if you can get it to unstick. I and the other fellas who will soon be along to greet you are going to suggest a carb cleaning. Heed this advice ther may be dirt in ther. We are also going to suggest replacing ALL fluids and fuel lines along with a new fuel filter. It's just one of the first things to do on a new to us horse. Don't worry these are all easy things to do even if you are as mechanically challenged as some of us. I won't mention names @ebinmaine.

4 pointsThe engine knocks and rattles on the old girl have been bugging me for years now. So I figured I’d see what closing the point gap would do. She got a brand new plug too. 👍 Dialed them back to 0.016 runs very smooth and a lot quieter. I know for sure now I have a loose camshaft and piston slap. Time to start hiding $$ for a rebuild. 😁😇

4 pointsI do not have any Shaker plate tractors but I just got to say those look awesome! Thank you for taking the initiative to try to get something made up that will work.
-
4 pointsI keep it on the tire to keep the bead below the seat on the wheel... until I have to finish popping it apart.

4 pointsHoward I first met you at this years Wheel Horse Show where I spent some time with you. It was evident to me listening to you that you are indeed the genuine good down to earth person that everyone else already knew. So having said that ,I am privileged to say I know you and may we meet again for many years to come. HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

4 pointsFirst thing comes to mind... Is your belt guard on? Your belt GUARD is the belt GUIDE. If it isn't there the belt won't free up enough. Or The little tabs at the nose of the guard are bent down a bit. Or The belt is a tiny bit too tight. What's the tractor details and where's the belt from? Also, have you double checked the belt to verify it was packaged correctly? Pics would help too. We love to look at tractors....

4 points@PeacemakerJack AWESOME. But Stefan's got a valid point. You need to get more Horses now...

3 pointsThumming through Facebook and ran across these two wagons for sale not far from me. Im going to pick them up on Friday. I know the one us a wheel horse but not sure of the other. 50 bucks for both! So I just got home with these two wagons in line them up and got to looking and they both have the same exact wheels as each other. The dust covers are all the same as well but I can't find any markings on the other. As I got to talking to the lady her husband had a wheel horse a few years back. I just connected the dots.

3 pointsHistoric Sites of Manitoba: Swistun Buddas (Municipality of Harrison Park) In 1889, the first Slavic settlers arrived at this site in what is now the Municipality of Harrison Park from the railhead at Strathclair. During the first pioneer decade, families lived in “buddas” made of tree trunks, branches, sod, and native hay while their homesteads were being identified. In 1978, two authentic buddas at this site were reconstructed by Michael Swistun with assistance of the Parkland Ukrainian Pioneer Association.

3 pointsThank you everyone for the birthday wishes...all in all it’s been a pretty good day. Had to work at the shop all day, but taking a couple vacation days tomorrow and Friday to spend with my girlfriend and her boys. We are going to go house hunting tomorrow for a place big enough for all of us. If we find one I’ll be relocating to Texas in the very near future. Just got to her place a bit ago and had supper with her and the boys, here in a bit going to get into the homemade cake and ice cream she made for me

3 pointsIf you do a bunch, this little changer is worth it so you can skip the the screwdriver tire spoons. It can clamp in a vise. Or maybe you can get just the tool and use the 3/4 rod https://www.harborfreight.com/mini-tire-changer-61179.html?_br_psugg_q=tire+changer Pullstart has a welder so you can get the larger one and rework the acme screw to accept smaller rims. The way it is set up, it will not fit through the bore of the front rims. Or just get both sizes as I have and then no worries about changing tires on your own.

3 pointsI squared up my work piece, then found an edge and drilled my pattern. I need to clearance for the sickle bolts and then I can try out for fitment!

3 pointsThis building was just a rest stop for the king in his travels so he could stop his chariot under arches and go upstairs for a rest . One of the many benefits of unchecked power and authority.

2 pointsWhat's the condition of the battery or in other words how old is it? These batteries generally only last 3 or 4 years. Some more some less depending on the luck of the draw and how much one pays for the battery. You may have a shorted internal condition with the battery. Pull the battery and charge it with a trickle charger. After a period disconnect the charger and read the voltage. Let it set and recheck after a couple of days and see if the voltage dropped significantly. If it did the battery is toast. Plan B will be to check that the tractor does have a partial short in some wiring or component to ground draining the battery. With having 24 tractors and 20 with batteries most of my problems like this is a toasted battery but not unheard of to have a draw off the battery with even the key out of the tractor.

2 pointsThese are being offered by Zack Kerber Machine https://www.zkbrmachine.com/. Not sure if there on the web site yet or the price. The price will be less than the stock replacement mounts. Best bet is to send a email
-
2 pointsas with most garden tractors you will put more money into them than they are worth, remember it's a hobby, using it and enjoying are more important
-
2 pointsHappy Mash Pole Day and Birthday . Remember it is not how old you are in years ,but how old you feel. Have a great day.

2 pointsI have a piece of 3/4" threaded rod through a hole I drilled in my workbench that i can secure the rim to while changing a small 6" or 9" tire. I use the large Harbor Freight tire changer to break the bead first.
-
2 pointsIt's mostly reliable. The state of Maine is the most heavily forested state in the nation and we have some pretty aggressive weather so we lose electricity half a dozen times a year from trees taking out power lines. Usually not for more than a few hours but it's been out for 3 to 5 days sometimes. Between the generator n the wood stove we do just fine.
-
2 pointsAwesome idea Kev. I read or saw on YouTube about somebody using a 3/4" piece of thread rod and clamp that in a vice. Goes right up through the wheel and holds everything steady.
-
2 pointsNo. Not at all. When I bought her she was rode hard and put up wet! Still a tarmac chewing beast though!
-
2 pointsIs the drive pulley rusted? If it is, the pulley inner surface will create more friction with the belt. It should be clean and shiny. Not like this -

2 pointsCheck with the supplier on the stove you intend to vent. You migh be better off side wall vent with the double stainless liner. Heres why. It the existing flue is to large and the run (Height) is to long, the warm exhaust gases will cool and wont make it to exhaust through the top. Hence they backvent, carbon monoxide. It oderless and can kill you. Just be carefull is all. I have seen this done wrong many times before.

2 pointsOyster Pie Will be making 4 of these for the gang this Sunday. Mrs K made 4 oyster pies yesterday. The boys enjoyed. Venison / Dumpling casserole I make at deer camp I use venison steak and tenderize it by pounding both sides with a tenderizing mallet until it is 1/2 the original sliced thickness. It not only tenderizes, but also allows the gravy to soak into the meat. Mrs K made a double recipe of this casserole today, so I grabbed a few pics of the assembly. Browning the steak and place in the bottom of the baking dishes. Add the onions then pour on the sauce. We put it all in the casserole. Prebake, then add the dumpling dough. Final bake till dumplings are done. Gotta go eat the one in the square pan.
