10 pointsBeen getting the log stocks up this afternoon. There was quite a pile requiring splitting. Number 3 grandson was going to split them during the school holidays. But he went and got himself a summer job at a local holiday camp. So all left to me, so I thought I'd better make a start. Finished cutting and stacking this lot of smaller stuff. Then I started on this lot. Half done when I took this photo. Several barrow loads later, lost count of how many. This 3ft wide x 8ft long x 4ft high cage ended up 3/4 full. It's getting hard work splitting logs with a splitting mall. So.……. SWMBO suggested I got log buster. So I did as I was told. I know it might not seem much to some of you lads States side. I envy those of you who have properties with plenty of trees. I have to rely on what I can get.

9 pointsSteve! Where do you think the English Oak comes from? Sherwood Forest is real, though very little left now. As for the weeds that grow in your grape vines. You've either had to much grape or partaken of to much weed.
-
9 pointsI didn't know you had trees in England. Is Sherwood Forest real?? Those look like the weeds that grow in my grape vines.

6 points🤨😂 My daughter had some stupid purple tractor lego, and when i told her it would look better red like my wheel horse she got 😡. Lol So i decided to make my own wheel horse and this is how it turned out!!

5 points2 long shute snowblowers (for parts or rebuild!), a belt guard, a footrest, a pair of chains, and a belt for the snowblowers...for $80! The plan is to rebuild one snowblower for this winter...
-
5 pointsI used one like that on my 520, put a 5 amp fuse in the line connect it to the switch also put a toggle switch on the dash. I can run it out of gas for storage If I don't plan to use it for a while.
-
5 pointsWow....Don't know what to say but thanks fellas! No horse play but was a good day. Took a half day off to take the bike in for a recall. Apparently HD thought it wise to use dot 4 brake fluid so it has to be flushed every two years but the first one is on them! So got a nice ride in. Cindy picked me up and we stopped at a fav. Mexican place for supper where she let it out it's my b day and I could have either a free shot of tequila or fried ice cream. Not a big takillya fan so went for the ice cream. Had to wear stupid headgear while the waitstaff sang happy happy tho! Thanks again guys for the birthday wishes guys!

4 pointsAfter the move my wife decided she wanted something a little roomier than the car so I gave her my truck. My nephew decided he needed a crewcab for the baby so he sold me my dad’s truck back. He got this a couple of years before my dad passed but it is pretty much the same way it was when dad had it and in great shape. So we decided to get it and I would drive it. So I picked it up monday and then today I got a 7x14 enclosed trailer today. Need that to haul the horses and the rest of our stuff north. Hopefully @stevebo likes this one.

4 pointsNot an industrial application but my 78 f150 and a 7500 lb towed load in 1983.The truck is a 4wd 4sp with 33s and 3.50 gears.I bought that truck in Dec 1977.Having driven much larger trucks with the 300 I knew it would do fine.I still have that truck.

4 points225.TUFF AS NAILS !!!!!! AND IM NOT A CHRYSLER BUFF,,,,,,BUT,,,,,GOOD IS GOOD,!!!!!

4 pointsAfter last year when it rained all season and stuff basically drowned i raised the beds using some aspen logs. Doing much better!!!! Been putting out squash for free on the road... Cukes and peppers (started canning banana peppers) producing, tomatoes are still mostly green a bit of color on some.
-
4 pointsFriend of mine has a wood chipper powered by a 300. I also know of a 300 that served many years in an old 80 F150 before I finally junked the truck, now it is sitting on a stand in a field running a water pump for an irrigation circle. And even though I’m true blue, I must admit that one of the best trucks I ever owned was my old 1980 C30 with the 292 and 4 speed, never got in any hurry to go somewhere but the thing had the torque to move a mountain

4 pointswe had a fantastic year, I recently moved back to my grandparents property. the vegetable garden had one of its best years, mainly from taking out several 125' tall poplar trees, more sun, the chicken fertilizer. I also put in a large berry garden on the other side of the property, blueberry, strawberries, raspberry and some grapes. did well I didn't let them fruit heavy the first year. also put in 100 Christmas trees. starting my 5.5 acre farm. at least I have 15 or so tractors! all and all we had so much extra my kids set up a stand and sold produce. I have bigger plans for next year.

4 pointsSpeaking of fuel lines and chaffing, running the line through a light compression spring where it may chaff helps protect it.
-
4 pointsA 1054 with front and rear weights, 4 wheel wagon, plow, disc. dozer blade, grader blade. 518H with mower deck and sickle bar. (or a C160H) and a Lever Steer Senior and a RJ35 and........... I can't stop at 2
-
3 pointsRichard came to the shop for some light weight maintenance the Case combine 400 hp Cummings that sucks up 16 gallons of fuel every hour in the field, has a 400 gallon fuel tank and the header is a whopping 40 feet wide.
-
3 pointsI have a Kohler Magnum 14 model 414-8 needing a new muffler(boy is it loud!) Dealer says part # is 4706815. Does this sound right to you Wheelhorse guys out there?? ps i am a girl

3 pointsPTO clutch? Or the clutch for the transmission? If it’s transmission this is the correct part.

3 pointsMan, woman or child, all are welcome here. We pride ourselves on having a family friendly site here and are glad you found us.

3 pointsI'll keep you posted of course but if I can get this thing running it's going to end up in a C Series with large wheels

3 pointsWas today at my Friend‘s Workshop. He told me he hasn‘t much time to spent, because they prepared for Racetrack. I told him i just need Workshop to prepare few Things for my FEL. Also i need the Visit to lurk onto his new Toy... (he allows me to show you) Hey Tom, - whoooooow what a nice tractor - and where is the Mowerdeck? 😂😂 coudn‘t find it.. 😎🚜 Before he was able to kill me, i went out and help Stefan to trailer his Car, until he stops and jumps a bit nervous arround. Oh no, please no- not now. Searchin* still nothin to hear, as he mentioned, hey Tom, stop stacking things for me, i cannot Race while Rearaxle is broken. Tom and me thinkin hes jokeing, but if we realize that was fact, Tom and i look together have a view to the car and told him: „Hey buddy, no problem we dissassembled quick the Rearaxle and fix it.“ Stefan was in shock, he thinks maybe we are jokes. Quick grabbin Toolset, Carjack and begin with dismount on the Trailer. After we see the rip, we decided to dismount the whole rearaxle and repair it. So we pulled the whole Trailer in the Workshop and 1-2-3 half rearaxle was out. done as said, quick remove the right rear wishbone and Tom rewelds it. He welds also an enforcer in and we reworks the whole Car together, that they can start tomorrow their Tour to Racetrack. This was planned long ago, and it was important to my Buddy‘s, so it wasn‘t any question i must help. After Finish, we realign the Setup, both Axles has same fall setting- no difference measured. Soooo buddy‘s Finished Work, time for me to cut few Pieces of Steel for my FEL. While the delivered has a size, i didn‘t want to use, i shortly decide to make my own Levers. Cutting grinding drilling and i have Levers for the Hydraulic lift‘s. If Tube come as promised, i can hopefully finished tomorrow my Hydraulics, Otherwise hopefully this Weekend.

3 pointsThat muffler JA shows is really a good deal -- not only is it cheap, but its configuration makes it relatively easy to adapt to other model tractors, and it has a nice tone to it--- quiet!. I have bought and adapted them to about 5-6 WH's. Is also shown some time as a for cub cadet. https://www.ebay.com/itm/REPL-KOHLER-ENGINE-MUFFLER-EXHAUST-237550-CUB-CADET-K241-K301-K321-393840-R91/191782081418?_trkparms=aid%3D555018%26algo%3DPL.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131003132420%26meid%3D95386be7749c43fdbfc123fb7aef0af0%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D12%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D261261885939%26itm%3D191782081418%26pg%3D2047675&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851

3 pointsGenerators do not care if they are positive or negative ground (think old farm tractors) Hence the requirement to flash polarize them. Current saddle mount regulators say pos or neg ground (not sure about the ones from 40+ year ago0. The PO of my Farmall M put a battery charger on it for several days back wards...(She is positive ground). other than screwing the battery did no harm to the generator or cutout regulator.
-
3 pointsIf you are not concerned with original looks this type muffler is available on E-Bay for about $45.00.

3 pointsHi...thought this would be better served in the "Engine Section". I'm not sure if the guy hooked it up backwards and never ran it...if it would cause any harm. Looks like Paul jumped in before I showed how little I know. Listen to what Paul says.
-
3 pointsGenerators need to be polarized. That is accomplished by flashing the Armature terminal to battery voltage. However as you have a Starter Generator that is done automatically when you start it. You are applying battery voltage to the armature terminal. Voltage regulators can fail from corrosion bad contact etc.... What is battery voltage when shut down? Should be 12.6 for fully charged battery Voltage when running?? Should about 14. Take a jumper wire and ground the "F" terminal on the generator You should hear the engine slow a bit and voltage should jump up to 14. if it does then you r regulator is bad. if it doesn't then the charging field coil is suspect

3 pointsMy uncle used one of these back in the 70’s when we were mowing hay. I think he liked pretending he was driving a tank...... had the 300/6 in it, if I remember correctly.... his had lever steering. (or maybe it was his old Gleaner combine??? Now I’m not sure....)

3 pointsOur garden isn't very big and we can't really plant anything outside until early June...too many cold nights.
-
3 pointsThinking about that grain truck brought up a great memory. In the summers when I was young and full of... vinegar, I threw hay after working all day at an honest to God service station (in the 90's!). The boss folks took the sides off of the trucks and they became hay trucks. They had a coupler welded on for a ground drive elevator. We usually had a six person crew and three trucks. The field driver was the bosses wife. She was in her mid 80's back then and the best driver ever. She was the only one who could keep those trucks from jerking or pitching on the uneven fields. The others on the crew took trucks to various barns of the buyers. Boss man had me stacking trucks because he said I could read the bales and stack accordingly. Proud to say, I'm the only stacker who never had a bale lost. 😃
-
3 pointsI drove a d-500 myself, it was a 67.with the slant six.that was in the early eighties, the truck was a beast.I know the 300 and 292 were used in many industry applications in the sixties. They were good old American power and gearing, like us horseman seem to love. Now the trend seems to be to pore fuel to the big v8s get the rpms up get the job done faster. I like them too, just don't have the need or wallet for them now.
-
3 pointsThe more I ‘study on’ this, I realize the only parts of the LSD that move INSIDE the bull gear (4-25) are the 10 pinion gears (4-27) and, of course…independently… the axles (4-21) with axle gear (4-24) on axle spline. The differential as a whole, (4-19 thru 4-28) turns the axles, independent of one another. The 10 pinion gears float freely, but are confined within the housing (4-26). The housings are locked to the bull gear by virtue of the two ‘tabs’ on the housings’ outer rim. The bull gear is locked to the end caps (4-19) by (1) dowel pins and (2) the 5 bolts holding it all together. Accordingly, as long as the pinion gear housing(s) are not in two pieces, a hairline crack would / should not be detrimental….answering my own question. However, if either end cap is in two or more pieces, catastrophe lurks. It is surprising what a couple cold Coors will do….loosens up the mind. In deference to Cliff Claven's 'Buffalo Theory' dissertation on the virtues of beer drinking.

3 pointsNo pics of BBT tossing it around? Just kidding with that one, you two be safe and remember... Never trust a fart! Especially when lifting!
-
3 pointsNot exactly an industrial application but still a 300 straight 6. About 4 years ago while we were still living in Florida our daughter up here sent me this. I bought this 85 F-150 new and drove it 12 years and 285,000 miles. Besides routine maintenance the only work on it was a water pump, a throw out bearing and a rocker cover gasket. That 300 was a torque monster and I pulled a 30' travel trailer all over with it even though, equipped with the 4 speed manual overdrive, it was only rated for 3300# towing. She spotted it on the side of the road and recognized it. Aside from the rust and funky wheels it brings back some memories. Great truck and great engine.

3 pointsThey are using a dark oil. I should have taken a picture of the cabinetry because it was all milled out of the same tree! I will once it’s complete!
-
3 pointsI'm in on this one... Could be interesting to see. I'll get some pics soon. We've had a few beans. A couple zucchini. Spaghetti squash soon.
-
3 pointsMy driveway would look extremely similar to the way it does now - except for having quite a few more implements! I'd want a GT-14, with a tiller, blade, wheel weights, mower deck and sickle bar mower. Not exactly sure why I want a sickle bar mower so bad, but I do. I'd also want a C160 Hydro with the same as above. Not sure how I could go wrong with that setup. Both tractors are extremely capable machines. I'd love to have an RJ for looks, but as far as capability, a C160 or a GT-14 is hard to beat.
-
3 pointsYah good thread JC.. Same as Dick's 953 pick but throw in a sickle bar. No brainer ther. 2nd Choice a little tougher enymeanieminymo between a decked out 520 snow machine or C-160 snow beast.

2 pointsFor the center pulley, drill open the two holes to 3/8" dia. Then fashion a 'J' hook from 3/8 (or 5/16) HARD rod to work in a 2-slot hub puller... To avoid damage to grease zerk threads, us a flat puller socket instead of a pointed one....or be prepared to renew the threads. Also...thread the spindle nut back on to be FLUSH with top of spindle shaft. Put hooks into holes and draw spindle pulley off. You MAY be able to do the same thing with the side pulleys...drill 2 holes 3/8" dia opposite of each other...
-
2 pointsFound an old ad for the Owatonna mower.... almost looks like my uncle.....
-
2 points@springoaks! With some creative use of pipe fittings and a trip to Tractor Supply (or the like) you could build a cheaper than $265 stack with a clamp on muffler These are custom made stacks and on round hoods, but they’ll give you an idea what they could look like on your 414.
-
2 pointsJim, get back over there and eat some more birthday cake, you are not done until I tell you, you are done. Haha
-
2 pointsSo I went today to look at the other goodie he was telling me he had! Well as a true HORSE-A-HOLIC would do, I seen it and had to have it. So I loaded this beautiful 1054 and sickle bar up and brought it home!!!
-
2 pointsAll, thanks for the info about the belt guard and the tab on the belt guard. I did not have belt guard on. Will do that and adjust the metal tab to see if those solve my problem. Thanks again!
