My wife suggested we go to this auction yesterday. It was pretty fun! I ended up with 3 boxes of mason jars and a live trap for $14... The Dodge Brothers car went for around $14K. the JD “A” with a full set of cultivators went for $775. A diesel MF, $1900. I don’t recall the Kerosene Machine’s price, but if it would have been a bit more practical, I was tempted to bid! The JD “D” was $2150 if I recall. I wanted them to do the walk behind something or another, but they skipped right over that for a $500 1998 Chevy truck and we had run out of time as the auctioneers split the crowd and went it opposite directions. Does anyone recognize what it is?

So I went today to look at the other goodie he was telling me he had! Well as a true HORSE-A-HOLIC would do, I seen it and had to have it. So I loaded this beautiful 1054 and sickle bar up and brought it home!!!

Sneak peak of the slab! This was my first glimpse of the rest of the story! I built some quick straps to help prevent cupping and separating on the ends of the seam and used the threaded inserts to hold one end down for now.

🤨😂 My daughter had some stupid purple tractor lego, and when i told her it would look better red like my wheel horse she got 😡. Lol So i decided to make my own wheel horse and this is how it turned out!!

Wow....Don't know what to say but thanks fellas! No horse play but was a good day. Took a half day off to take the bike in for a recall. Apparently HD thought it wise to use dot 4 brake fluid so it has to be flushed every two years but the first one is on them! So got a nice ride in. Cindy picked me up and we stopped at a fav. Mexican place for supper where she let it out it's my b day and I could have either a free shot of tequila or fried ice cream. Not a big takillya fan so went for the ice cream. Had to wear stupid headgear while the waitstaff sang happy happy tho! Thanks again guys for the birthday wishes guys!

Needless to say the first choice for me would be a 953! Perhaps if the dealer were to drop off one of each of the items in this picture that would be nice! As for the second choice, what the heck just double the order!

I ran the new fuel line for Hot Wheels, found no leaks, now to tidy up the wires for the pump a bit and put it all back together!

Survey says........ yep. Found pics of a Viking on a 2011 internet auction... these profile shots look pretty much just like yours... just the gas tank stand was changed.

Happy Birthday Jim, hope you don't have any party fouls today like spilling a drink, or dragging a plow across the lawn!

I'm looking through Facebook for wheel horse tractor parts and I see this. What you see is what you get for the amount of money they are asking. Some people just don't get it! It leaves me baffled

I was about to state the above.. winter work I would have a 1968 Electro 12 with the blower, dozer, and full cab. Maybe opt for a radio too. A identical Charger would be an idea too, since the manual clutch was more gentle on the implements.. but either model, the 10-pinion just cant be beat in snow. For 3-seasons, I think I would go with a GT-1848, or perhaps a 414-8. Fitted with a power bagger and a 48" deck. Would also probably order a BerCo 2 stage blower.. just to stick on the 1968 Electro

For winter work (plow or blower) I want a Charger/Electro. Hydro lift fast forward and backwards....10 pinion for traction

Moo... steering wheel is not a big issue here. That style ends up on alot of tractors so we get it. Sad news is a orginal is scarce as hens teeth. BUT if you wanted an orginal and you endeavor to find one you might just get lucky ther too. No matter any of us here would be glad for have that tractor in our herd! BTW the tractor in my avatar is indeed a 702 also. Bought it from @Shynon for a song and a prayer and tried to pull with it once just for the halibut! Traction was not a problem! Photo credit to @Achto Check out the pull tenders facial expression! I was thinkin now steady big fella!

The taillight is there and in working order, but the lens was broke on the back and he said the headlight lense he says he may have and will let me know. He says it fell off one time and he set it in his box. I got all the wheel horse stuff he had. But I will be going back to repair some more tractors for him. But he has a lot of cub cadet stuff, 2n/8n and 9n ford tractors and a lot of farmall and IH tractors.

Looks like the one, but not mine! I wasn’t as fortunate on winnings as the WI auction, but it was still fun however! This was only my second live auction ever, other than online bidding, etc. The people watching was great!

a true well kept time capsule ! i am especially envious of the sickle bar set up, i am looking for one that i can adapt to my 3 series. buy the way if you want to retain that wonderful patina, use a penetrating oil soaked rag on the paint , it will stop any further rust , while trapping what you have , great going on that , pete

Sounds like a ring job was done ad the rings were not staggered as they should have been. If you can feel it with your finger it is too much! After tear-down, put the old compression ring in the cylinder and square it up with the piston then shine a light form below all around the cylinder. Chances are you will see a beam of light passing the ring where this "slight erosion". If the light can get by the compression can too and a hone won't make it round.

DUDE ... I would have gladly given both left ones for that! Nice find!

Ya after some research I'm leaning towards them being simplicity or Allis chalmers. But definitely agree good cast wheel weights are good cast wheel weights regardless of brand.
  32. 3 points
I have those same weights.... seem to remember finding info suggesting either Sears or Simplicity.... didn't apparently care enough to commit it to memory.... bottom line is they're 12 inch wheel weight... and when you need it... brand is irrelevant.

Ed I'm thinking his maybe a little past that stuff but maybe with a piece of screen to help?

Given the premium price why can't Toro put a check ball in the Zerk fitting. Grease it t up and i spits a thin stream of grease back on your garage floor

Yeah,I asked for advice. All I can say for now is that I can barely feel anything with the pad of my finger. A machinist once stated that that could be a very small amount. The story will develop once the crank pin can be measured. I have a very tired 14 HP that is almost 1/16th inch out of round that still runs, but no way am I running it.. I can actually move the piston with my hand in the cylinder on that engine while the 10 HP appears very tight. i will measure the cylinder bore when i can with just the head pulled. Two things i have are a friend with a vast machine shop, but I do not want to take advantage of his generosity. Maybe I will since he has the free use of my bobcat 853.... i also bought a spare 10 or 12 horsepower engine that we cannot determine the power without removing the head. The good news is that the Raider engine appears rebuildable if ever there was one...I have no experience in this, so I may be asking some questions later. If I am successful, it will mean that i have three 10 HP Kohlers up and running...Back with more soon

I’m glad nobody was hurt! Without a picture of the damage, I’d suggest heat and a hammer will put it back for ya!

The output shaft needs to be the correct length and diameter to run a Horse PTO
  41. 2 points
The engine could be installed, testing will tell you whether or not it will be worth installing. Run it to see if there is any blue smoke or unusual noises. Perhaps do a leak-down test to see how tight the combustion chamber is. The oil pan probably doesn't have the threaded holes for frame mounting that a would have on the PTO side but that can be handled with a coupe of "J" Bolts.

Might not be a big as deal as you think Walleye but does mean you should pull the head and check things out. Might be a a sticking valve or a piece of carbon holding the intake valve open or somthing like that.. Head gaskets are cheap yet so that's where I would be headed. Sides it is always wise sometime to just pull the head for drill and check the bore. Wouldn't hurt to pull the breather cover off and and have a peek in there at the springs/keepers either . Keep us posted.

Hi all! I just recently picked up this old tractor and I am not sure that it is a 854 as the owner claimed. I have seen pics of 854 gas tanks on here and the dash board looks different than mine. Please take a look at my pics and let me know what this might be and what the engine might be, and if I have the correct mower deck. it looks to be all original to me but even the engine plate was all painted over and faded. Thanks!

When I was much younger and (I thought) wiser, I used to laugh at the road signs in rural America that showed a tractor being driven by a guy who was clearly standing fully upright. I used to wonder, why in the world would someone drive a tractor like that? Until I tried it on my IH 686 tractor on our place in Virginia, and then AHA! Like Paul said, it's a good way to stretch, and you can see better! Can you imagine a modern day tractor owner's manual suggesting something like that? Nice tractor Paul, and nice work the two of you do together!
