12 pointsI picked up this very clean Electro 12 a couple weeks ago and plan to put it to work hauling some wood this fall with this small trailer that I assembled this week. The PO passed away last fall and I purchased it via an online auction. I really didn’t need another one but it has quickly become a favorite with the little seat time that I have had.

6 pointswhat's red and smells good? your smokey old kohler in your wheel horse. today I took 35 pounds of nj plum tomatoes and ran them through the crusher. lots of basil and garlic a little oregano.... I make enough sauce to last us a year.

6 pointsGot these weights from my friend and now I'm cleaning them up and getting them ready to put on IRV.

6 pointsSo the neighbor asks my wife if I want her tractor. I say yes and my son goes and drags her old Rally lawn “ tractor” up to the house. After a quick look over we determine its scrap. We disassembled it last night and loaded it and a bunch of other scrap into his pickup. A trip to the junkyard and he converts it into this. 😁😁😁. He traded the scrap and a $20 bill for the C85 and the older deck. He’s a good kid!

4 pointsMade a new set of tie rods I'm going to put on my 520-H. I made a set back a couple of months, but had to use 1/2" rod as the 5/8" rod I bought was too hard the tread. The other set will be put on my 312-8 may add some tubing over the 1/2" rod.

4 pointsI’ve heard of this one guy on the tv who traded up from a red paper clip to a mansion. You practically did the same, just on a cooler scale!

4 pointsSo, when I first saw this truck last night, I knew that it needed to be shared. Then I looked underneath. When it’s built to tow, I wish someone would be more considerate of the frame than what they did here! I wouldn’t trust the welds personally, plus the top and bottom of the frame were left not welded. That pretty much killed the integrity of the frame! Also, there was this slick Silverado at the track. It’s not all too often you find one from the 99-02 body style that’s still clean and shined up here!

4 points“Definitely a Nash Metropolitan. Always wanted one.” You know I couldn’t leave it stock

4 pointsThanks for the tip...I’ll be sure to install one. Any recommendations on brand, style, location to mount it, etc? Looks like I already have a strong lead on a double pulley but you’ll have to stay tuned to find out more about that! I will be away from this project for a week as I take my bride of 19 years to a wedding of a former TeenGroup kid. He called me last august and asked me to come down and officiate! We are excited to attend and take part in their special day and take a couple of days vacation in celebration of our anniversary which was last Sunday. I promise that ill get back to reviving Blackbeard when I arrive home—Zach won’t let me slack for sure! I’m looking for just the right Blackbeard sketching on line that we can have screen printed on vinyl and stuck to the engine cover right above the flywheel. This is one of several that I like... or this one... I think I have figured out what I’ll do with Zach’s paint scheme as well to keep the theme. More on that in upcoming posts!

4 pointsI've cleaned up two WH gear transmissions that had some real bad looking stuff come out of them by flushing them. Then I've had another that I couldn't get a clean flush after doing it a couple of times so I tore it down. It needed the full disassembly cleaning and a few bearings. Then there's the three 1960 ish transmissions. All had water, but one was pristine inside and the other two with pitted gears. Your on the right track doing some good maintenance on it. Remember to replace the rubber boot around the gear shift if it's in bad shape. That's where water gets in these transmissions. As for me, my theme song should be.....Water in my Transmission.....

4 pointsIf the engine runs and you can't see the timing marks stick a wooden dowel in the hole and let it rub on the flat where the marks are. The dowel will polish the rust on the surface and leave the indented timing marks untouched making them easy to spot. Garry

4 pointsHad very little "dry" time today. OK @tunahead72 These steamer pics are for you! This steamer was built in Clyde N.Y. my hometown in 1914 https://www.farmcollector.com/steam-traction/sw-wood-engine-co-tracing-the-history-of-companys-rare-16-hp-steamer "Air IH" Featur row Hart-Parr Rumley @ACman

4 pointsThe top soil was dozed off the surface of the garden area in the late 80s.It is really hilly here so once I terraced the garden surface, I moved the topsoil back with a C120 and a 10 cu-ft cart. One sifted load at a time.I was a lot younger then and it was something to do at the end of the day.We now add leaf mulch and residue from the hen house.Nothing goes to waste.

2 pointsI recently bought a wheel horse 1054 form a garage sale. It runs nice but there are a few things that need replaced and I cannot find anywhere to get these parts. Also it doesn’t help that the previous owner had put 12hp kohler instead of the original 10hp. I need help finding parts.
-
2 pointsThe rod that is now under the belt should be above belt, barely touching it. That placed correctly along with belt cover will make it work assuming you have the correct belt. Belt needs to stop completely to change gears.

2 pointsMy daughter lives right by the football stadium in Ann arbor If we run up there I would be willing to help out. Just from hanging out here makes you feel like a friend

2 points@wheelhorseman is a vendor here that builds tie rod pieces that adjust, or you might find @A-Z Tractor has some good quality used parts. There is also a classified section here too, that you can search for parts or post a wanted ad. https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/forum/92-vendors/ https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/classifieds/

2 pointsI will be removing the deck come fall. I mowed the front yard with it yesterday and my wife said it looked better than her Dixie Chopper!
-
2 pointsIt has had some painting done but it is all original. The seat has a couple little pin holes barely visible and it has a cigar lighter that works like new. And it came with manuals for mower and tractor. It was certainly a deluxe machine when it rolled out of the factory 50 years ago.
-
2 pointsIt doesn’t take too much know-how with these old tractors, it takes a little (whole bunch) of patience and a gentle hand to clean ‘er up just spiffy!
-
2 pointsLooks good in that last pic! I’ve got a funny set of tasters and I know it. Tomato? YUCK! Cooked tomatoes? YUCK! Spices and seasoning and everything that makes it any type of sauce? AMAZING! I can’t even help Mrs. Pullstart on tomato days, until it’s time to taste test... then she locks me out the house so I don’t eat it all!

2 pointsI know this is a Wheel Horse forum, but if anyone here is honest, there are some pros and cons to every brand, even Wheel Horse. To say one is better than another brand, is pure nonsense. I don't care much for Ford, but to say they're inferior to a Chevrolet would be wrong. Same for Wheel Horse, Cub Cadet, Simplicity, Kubota, and yes, even John Deere. To get back on topic, if Toro still made lawn and garden tractors, it wouldn't be the design of the older Wheel Horse. It would probably be a lot of plastic, aluminum transmissions, maybe even Tuff-Torq's K46 light duty transmission, and it wouldn't be as durable nor built for longevity. When Toro killed the Wheel Horse line, they also stop all production of the other Toro designed lawn and garden tractors. They turned to MTD to build their tractors for a couple of years then. Right now, I don't believe Toro builds lawn and garden tractors, nor have any branded ones, as they turned to walk behinds and zero turns. Today's market has changed from even 20 years ago. With SCUTs and CUTs being built by a lot of manufacturers, and with more and more people buying zero turn mowers, the market does not demand a heavy duty garden tractor. Oh, Simplicity, Kubota, and John Deere still makes heavy duty garden tractors, but the prices of those places them to where a SCUT would be a better and more attractive, as well as cost effective, alternative. I doubt a new Wheel Horse, built along a similar design of the Classic Wheel Horse, would sell very well and would be too expensive to build with profit margins in mind.

2 pointsSeems like the common thread the ties these all together is a tow cable pulling you out of what ever you got stuck in. Definitely a Metropolitan and I never wanted one!

2 pointsGasoline will seep into a tiny hole in the float. You won't see any air bubbles come out when submerging it in water because of the air pressure inside and water can't seep into a tiny hole like the gas can. If you squeezed it under water it would force the air out of the hole and you would see bubbles. If you put a single drop of gasoline on the surface of the float, it will spread out and seep out on the surface. If you put a single drop of water on there, it will remain as a small puddle and not seep. I don't remember the technical terms for this

2 pointsI'm not sure where I fit into this particular social situation, but I have a feeling I'll find out soon enough.

2 pointsHoly crap Jason you got the same processor as I do! Unfortunately for me looks like you got a better garden too. I would put up a pic but you guys would go what the ..... In the past we did lots of tomatoes and everthing else. Made your sauce or salsa or what the mood hit us. Usually just a generic canning so we could go chili, Italian or whatever we would use it for. This year due to lots of rain, flooding in the garden, rabbits and deer getting in the fencing and too busy going to shows and keeping you clowns in Bolens pics no time for the garden and she went to weeds. I says to Cindy that's it... I'm seeding it next year with grass and and going to the farmers market. Cheaper anyway. Still not that grew it myself flavor. Hopefully more time when we retire in a few shorts.

2 pointsAfter a few minor setbacks yesterday and today (I really don't know how many times the folks here on Red Square have pulled my fanny out of the fire) But today was the day we rolled her out of the door, filled to tank to the top, fired her up and took her for a ride This is NOT a show tractor. I rebuilt her just for me. Basically a 1968 Charger 12 with a 69 engine with the breakerless ignition. Didn't like the "push/pull cables" so swapped out a "lever controls" dash. Quit smoking almost 12 years ago so didn't need the cigar lighter. I'm not a big fan of the all red tractors so ......... Wanted a "stack" muffler ever since the first one (C121) and finally did it Some of the earlier photos show a stack I put together. The more I looked at it, it just wasn't right Called Jim Kemp and ordered one of his....WOW what a difference. Looks good, well made and sounds great Thanks to everyone who followed along, got me out of a few tight spots and offered up some humor along the way

2 pointsAhhh, the slant six. A buddy and I had a ‘79 Dodge truck given to us one time, it had the slant six and 727 auto. Those were the days... three wires sticking out of the dash to start and run it! Ok... I found the photo albums of my vehicles and toys over time... so bare with your bandwidth for them all to load... There are highs and lows, you’ll see what I mean! Sorry for all the pictures of me and my posse too! Rebel kids, right? A few funny notes about the pictures... The Jeep was my first vehicle. I totaled it on the way to school one morning, when the right rear axle shaft fell out and I sailed into the trees. The Toyota was given to me with a broken frame and a bad clutch. Wind it up high enough and it would kind of weld itself together and away we went! I still have that first 8’ Boss plow. The Propane Mud Truck was a Ford chassis and 366 tall deck BBC that came out of a school bus, and of course LP powered! The Olds diesel was 5.7 liters, but it wasn’t just a converted gasser. I’ll swear that was an awesome car and I shouldn’t have sold it! It did a 20 second quarter mile at 45 mph at Mid-Michigan motorplex, would haul a Dana 60 axle or a 350 Chevy in the trunk! The Junky old trailer that my brand new motorcycle was on came out of the junk yard. The fenders were a coolant drum from the die shop. Yes, that’s my girls when they were a bit smaller. I was inside the enduro car when the rock crawler drove up my side... it was at a work car show. The monster GMC truck I built was going to be a plow truck, but unfortunately it never made the road. I’m probably still alive because of that. Well, the photos are done up.oading, so I’ll quit rambling! Enjoy, y’all!
