The wife wanted a herb garden this year and now it's time to start harvesting and drying some of her herbs. This gave me a chance to do a little smithing. First a loop, this was done cold. Then welded together. Then I bent up some links. Raw finished product. Finish was done by heating the metal red hot & then rubbing it with bee's wax. Then add some S hooks for holding the bundles of herbs while they dry.

Jeff, if you and Kevin decide on a day let me know and you're not all that far from me. I'm not really looking for anything but a chance to help out would put a smile on my face.

Jeff, we all will face that reality sooner or later and it ain't fun! We were blessed to meet you and your family at the Big Show and know that you enjoyed hangin out with us as much as we loved being with you. Wish I live closer so I could help too.

Totally agree with Aldon re-wired my basket case GT14 (in the woods 20+ yrs) solved all the issues basically this included a new key switch and solenoid. NO issues 3 yrs.

The bee's wax rubbed on hot metal is some thing that I learned from guys that do black smith work at some of the local tractor shows. The wax will close the pores in the metal to help prevent rust. Surprisingly the finish is quite durable and does not leave a residue on your hands after it has cooled.

If the engine runs and you can't see the timing marks stick a wooden dowel in the hole and let it rub on the flat where the marks are. The dowel will polish the rust on the surface and leave the indented timing marks untouched making them easy to spot. Garry

Ohhh!!, apparently there can be a whole science to being a wine-o. Red wine glasses, white wine glasses, aerated pour top, food paring, etc... It is just one of those things that I have never gotten into real deep. Here are some of my favorite wine glasses.

DO NOT pull it you will ruin it. It is pushed off with a bolt you thread in after you remove the 7/16" bolt you can see in your picture. The pusher bolt depends on age of the PTO. 5/8" or 7/8 or 1" There are TSBs on Electric PTO in the manual section. Also see my thread about electric PTOs

For those who haven't noticed, has anyone ever seen a picture of pullstart where he wasn't smiling? Kev keep us up to date on the mower mount.

@Oliver99farmall !! It seems sickle bars are a hot topic lately, my next project is to adapt a David Bradley mower to the front of my 502. It was less than $100 at the local auction and I’ve heard demand for them is quite low. It might be an option to look for a walk behind to do the job at hand if you can’t find something for your Charger. Jari is another walk behind brand, FYI. We love pictures, so please post your Charger 10 for us to drool! Dirty or shiny, matters not to us! Here’s Putt Putt, my 502 that I plan to do the DB conversion, and Frank, a mutt that started life as a Charger 12!

Thanks Randy. Some of you have heard my motto “things that are different are not the same”. Obviously it isn’t original with me but I take it to mean that no matter how close something is to something else, the littlest difference can have an effect on the outcome. I have noted some differences already in these two motors that I will have to address before having a functioning reliable machine. The boys couldn’t get Blackbeard in the shed yesterday fast enough. After pumping up the tires and opening the tow valve, we were off to the races... Not quite yet. However, Zach was happy to have his tractor in a spot where we could actually work on it and get it back in action. Take a close look at the paint on Blackbeard and compare with some of the later shots. Zach was carefully eyeing up the whole process before we began stripping it down. Thanks to @pfrederi I was able to get The PTO removed safely and set aside for install on the M16. It took a couple hours, with Zach doing much of the disassembly but we were able to get the old tired K321 out of the cradle. The previous owner said that other than routine maintenance that they never did an overhaul. I’m pretty sure that the engine installed nearly 50 years ago in South Bend had never been out. The paint looks new on the frame and check out the condition of these engine mount bolts, all head stamped the same... If this tractor had only stayed inside the last two years with Todd before we got it, I can only imagine what it would’ve looked like. The patient waiting for the heart transplant...

Thanks @Burnerman for the informative post! Whether is plowing, blowing, cutting, blading, etc ‘s are up to the task. I’m so glad that you rescued that one and are finally ready to put it to work. I’m looking forward to seeing more pictures of it in action. Have fun perusing the site and getting to know the gang. This is the most helpful and informative Wheel horse site on the planet—with lots of great guys and some! Have fun getting to know us as we get to know you...👍🏻

From your very first post it seems that you have a way of being involved in controversy. Having said that I think that your banning from Facebook may actually be a good thing that happened, since perhaps you will not get so much into arguments with people. Its easy to be behind a key board and let the worst in us come out. In person one would think twice many times before saying the same things. Stay here and try to follow the advice given to you from the beginning. Slow down and listen. Lots of great advice here besides tractors from countless years of life experience from great individuals. You should have noticed by now that rather than dismissing you or criticizing you on your mishaps, people are just being tolerant and giving you great advice. LISTEN.

We are working on an engine transplant (more about that in the restorations thread) for Zach’s Blackbeard (GT-14). We should have the engine out tonight but I need some recommendations on the easiest way to remove the Electric PTO from his existing engine without damaging it... We have the mounting bolt out but I want to be sure not to wreck the pulleys or the clutch in the removal process. Zach is so excited to get his tractor running that he can hardly stand it! Just ask Richie, he got to speak with him last night for a little while we were in the shop together!

These are some my other half, Carol took. The eagle eyed will notice how the plough is set. That is so it would clear the ground after the lift linkage broke.

On Sunday we had the above event. Though only meant to be a one off, this was the 14th year. Mainly started to raise money for the Royal Lifeboat Institute, after to local men lost their lives in the Solway, it has expanded slightly to have other attractions and raise money for a different charity each year. All money raised stays in Cumbria. Below are a few photo's I managed to find time to take. These Motorcycles belong to a friend of mine who has 22 with not one made after 1938. These vintage bicycles belong to another friend who has a vast collection. These are my C-81, C-125 and Sears/Roper GT16. The C-121 Black Horse was ploughing, all though briefly as the lift linkage broke. Tractors in the static display. AHHH! Aren't they sweet. Couple of Alpacas. Some horse drawn implements. Some ploughing. I do know this ploughman came second in his class. The Solway Firth in the back ground. The Scottish hills can be faintly seen in the distance. This ploughman is measuring across his furrows. If he was 6" out he would alter his plough an inch. Three furrows up the plot and three down the width would be corrected. Case and trailer to take people round for a donation. End of day and a Scottish ploughman leaving for home.

Holy crap Jason you got the same processor as I do! Unfortunately for me looks like you got a better garden too. I would put up a pic but you guys would go what the ..... In the past we did lots of tomatoes and everthing else. Made your sauce or salsa or what the mood hit us. Usually just a generic canning so we could go chili, Italian or whatever we would use it for. This year due to lots of rain, flooding in the garden, rabbits and deer getting in the fencing and too busy going to shows and keeping you clowns in Bolens pics no time for the garden and she went to weeds. I says to Cindy that's it... I'm seeding it next year with grass and and going to the farmers market. Cheaper anyway. Still not that grew it myself flavor. Hopefully more time when we retire in a few shorts.

@Mudrig150, your adult life is just beginning and I think one day you will realize that this is in your own best interest. As you become an adult and enter the work force your potential employers will require you to allow them to check your social media accounts. They want to know what type of person they are considering for employment. You have the opportunity to hit the reset button and create a good social media presence, take full advantage of it.

Thank you! It’s for pushing snow and dirt. I have a 48” plow for the front. I don’t have a big enough plot for a furrow plow. I can use the Troy bilt Horse tiller for the garden and even that’s too big! Lol I live in the hills in the top of NJ and Wheelhorse attachments are hard to find. I got the tractor with it’s original 42” rear discharge deck for free 15 or so years ago. I refurbished it back then and mowed with it until the deck got to thin around the main spindle. Over the years I’ve gathered any attachments I could find local. It sat for 3 years because of water in the trans fluid and no time to tear into it. I just got the trans all cleaned out and a new bearing and seals. It’s getting another coat of paint and new tires for pushing and pulling. Those rear ag tires are old USA made Carlisles that have so much dry rot it’s amazing they hold air!

Thanks to my wife Gretel, I know more about wine than I ever cared to. One thing that I know is to store it so that the cork always stays wet. I still don't always know the correct glass to use with which wine.

Pulled the deck off and put it back on my C120, will be tearing this down soon; I'm installing a foot pedal kit first and want to test it before I tear it down. In the meantime I pulled the front wheels , stripped and refinished, and replaced the original 16-7.50 x 8's with 18-8.50 x 8's and filled the front tires; added nearly 50lbs to the front end. Used a small garden pond pump submersed in washer fluid, each tire took about 3 gallons. Added a little bling too.....

Timing on the K series Kohlers is controlled by point gap. If you don't have a timing light you really don't have to use one. Set the points gap at 0.020 thousands. This will get you up and running and allow you some time before need to look at a timing light.Clean the points with 400/600 grit sand paper if the points have been mounted for any length of time.Welcome to RedSquare, Luck JAinVA

Mmmm… Not really. I was going to stay out of this conversation, but I just went back and read your first two posts in this thread, and thought I'd add my two cents worth. It's meant to be a friendly comment, and I hope you take it that way. Literally 50 plus years ago (!!!), I took my first driver's education course, I was about your age and just dying to get my driver's license and get the h*ll out of town. We had to watch a film called something like "The Final Cause", which really stuck with me all these years. I'm foggy on the details, but it basically documented the entire process of a horrible car accident, starting with the driver being in a rush to get out of the house, not being able to find her keys, late to wherever she was going, fiddling with her radio, spilling her drink, that sort of thing, and finally somebody else on the road made a stupid move and there was a nasty crash. Point being that the other driver's mistake might have directly caused the accident, but there was a lot of activity leading up to it that was directly under the control of the young lady driving the car. If she had changed any one of those things, the accident might not have happened. Your brother's comment might have directly caused you to be banned by Facebook, but it was only "the final cause". NONE of what Facebook did was caused ONLY by your brother's comment. You mentioned in your first post that you already had two strikes against you with Facebook, you were in an argument with another guy, your brother sent his message to this guy, you "accidentally" shared your for sale post to other groups, and then Facebook finally did their thing. If ANY of those things, or anything else leading up to this situation that you didn't tell us about, hadn't happened, you'd still be on Facebook and happy to be there. You've heard lots of comments from some of the guys here, some of them pretty harsh I know. And I don't have any particular advice for you. But I do think this would be a good time to just step back from the whole mess for a while, forget about Facebook and find something else to do with your time. I've read some of your earlier posts, you're young, and you clearly have some talent with these tractors, try to use it, or let it evolve into something better. You haven't really wasted four years of your life, all the important memories are still in your head, and you can find other ways to keep your friendships going. The pictures, yeah they might be gone, but I know you can find other ways to save photos from now on. As my kids' elementary school principal used to say, tomorrow's another day!

Incorrect. All the John Deeres sold at Lowes and Home Depot are made by JD in Tennessee. And those same models can be bought at a John Deere dealer for the same price you find them at the box stores. Deere uses the Tennessee plant to make entry level tractors to compete against Sears, MTD, Murray and the other lower scale tractors made by Simplicity and others. It's what the market wants and demands in today's environment. The higher quality JDs are built in their plant in Horicion, Wisconsin, just has they have been since 1963. That includes the X-series, which are great machines and will out mow about anything that was made 20 years ago and earlier. And I had/have Wheel Horses, Cub Cadets, older JDs, etc.,....

Since the axle is already screwed up, here's a backyard hammer mechanic fix if you want to try instead of replacing the axle. After seals, install the woodruff key and use JB weld if it's very loose to fill the gap. Slide on the hub and drill a hole into the axle and the hub, 1/2 way into each part. Tap threads into that hole and use 2 set screws as a new key. The screws will tighten the hub on the axle pretty good and you will still be able to remove the hub.

Yes...you have dibs Kevin . Believe me I know all about the accounting debt ! I’m missing out on Dakota R/T as we speak. Yea I’m a Chevy guy but have a soft spot for factory limited edition muscle trucks of any make . Painful yes but I know it’s time and I had my fun finding them . The thrill of finding one is part of the addiction . These are mostly barn finds that I’ve never even washed. Just had them running and put in the barn ready for someone else’s barn find. I live between Ann Arbor and Lansing...go Spartans

I’m not sure Momma will let me grab the whole lot(logical thinking) but let me know when you are ready on the round hoods at least, I’ll pass it by the accounting dept(wishful thinking). I’d even offer a day to help sort the bins and piles Jeff.
