Yesterday I had the C161 out for the first time with the tiller breaking up the ground for the foundation for a pavilion which is part of the new playground for the kids from the foster care/adoption agency I help out with. I used the 876 with the dozer blade to spread the dirt.

This is a 300 series I’m setting up for my son for when he and his fiancé become homeowners next month. Came across a great deal on 4 International Cub weights so 2 of them are going on his tractor. Adds 25# per side, it’ll also get a pair of 50 pounders on the outside of the rim before winter.

I painted a Simple City for a friend of mine. It should be there on Thurs. night, if the rest of his parts show up so he can finish the assembly on time. This is his first resto, I think he has put on about 200 miles running back & forth to the hardware store so far.

A cool rainy morning had me looking around the barn for an indoor project this morning. There was this really nice 48" SD with the old style mounting hardware. The deck has a good shell and the steel greasable spindles with the offset zerks that you can actually grease without taking the deck off the tractor. These decks also have the heavy spindle reinforcement plate that keeps the blade tips in perfect alignment. The bearings are all tight and quiet...probably because the were well greased by the PO. So, I removed the old mount and added a new style mount. This was really a easy conversion. After centering and locating the correct front to rear position so the standard length belt would work, It just required drilling 8 new holes for the 4 mounting brackets. I did have to alter the rear brackets to fit the slope of the deck. Then make a lever for the front to rear leveling rod. Put it on the C-120 and it cuts really nice and is my quietest deck. I may add the two anti scalp rollers to the front corners. After this was finished, there was this pile of 2 blade gear drive decks with the bad ball and socket in the left rods. This design was one of two bad designs by WH. The other was the rocker plate engine mount. I have never found a gear drive deck that didn't have a problem with the left rod. It's clear the design engineer didn't realize the left rod was in tension and a ball and socket would not work. The right rod is in compression and works fine although this is a very expensive machining process where a clearance hole and a threaded rod would have done a better job. Here are some of the fixes by POs. All defeat the purpose of adjustable rods. The strap Just weld it The hose clamps This one that I repaired by cutting off the ball, drilling and tapping the rod, and drilling a clearance hole in the pulley shaft actually was held together by a turnbuckle and hose clamps. Now, three more to repair....next rainy day project.

Obtaining these hub caps was another one of those moments of Wheel Horse magic. Red Square magic. Whatever you want to call it. One of those times when another generous and kind member reaches out to us for no particular reason whatsoever.

I’m confident this went to good home and I can’t think of a better caretaker & owner than Zack H. I hated to part with it but I really need to “thin the herd”. Here are a few pics of it I took right before Zack & I loaded it on his trailer.

It’s not very often I sell something... but when I do I fix everything wrong with it that I’m aware of, then don’t feel like selling it. If I would only treat everything as if I’m about to sell it, I’d have a lot nicer stuff! Congrats on your new old love!

Took a good long ride with my dad today...245 miles. Got up into northern Massachusetts, picked up the Mohawk Trail heading west towards New York. Stopped in Shelbourne Falls, checked out the river, then into North Adams where we headed south to Greylock Mountain. Rode to the top, great views! The Appalachian trail passes thru here, looked like a tough area to hike. It was nice to have a couple pistons pulling me up the mountain . Hiked to the top of the tower where you could see into Vermont or New York. From there we headed south to Pittsfield where we grabbed a quick lunch. Then we rode a section of Rt 20 known as Jacobs Ladder. Love getting out there with my dad, he’s 77 but nowhere near ready to give up his 2 wheeler. He no longer rides a “motorcycle”...his bike is classified as a scooter. But it’s no slouch! His Suzuki Bergman scooter has a 650cc twin, fuel injection, full digital dash and will top out at 110 MPH! Yep, 110 !

Yeah my 1067 I have has the same problem with no running boards. I found an eight horse no name that had great running boards on it and added it to it. This has helped tremendously!

Good Sunday Evening, So... those that know me know that Wheel Horse comes first but that the old Sears tractors WITH BRIGGS POWER is my second and specifically the SS14, 15 and 16 with the giant cast iron one lunger. Well @sparky saw an SS15 for sale on FB and sent me a link. A full day of sometimes painful back and forth finally resulted in me trading a GT1600 for it along with a non running Commando 8. I got up early today, rolled out the GT1600, pulled the tins and cleaned out the mice, flushed fuel system and carb and put in a new battery. Other guy was in rush so I told him if he wants it that bad to drive to me. He was 2 1/2 hrs away. Well he showed up and the tractor was missing all sorts of parts and he "forgot" mowing deck and so on. I gave him $20 for gas and said sorry you didnt hold up your end and deals off. He left and realised he screwed up. In the end I started up my GT and drove it around and said huh... forced into cleaning it up and getting it running and now Im gonna use it instead of leaving it parked! Sorry for the long story... Tony

Hello, I have a K181 to rebuild and it is a standard bore. The bore measures at about 2.9405 and the max wear limit is 2.941. Also, there are light score marks that would not hone out with a ball hone. The pictures show the scoring on the front and back of the cylinder. Is a cylinder in this condition normally rebored? The last K181 I rebuilt had a similar bore and I didn't rebore it. I installed used piston (new rings) and used rod and the valve guides were a bit worn and that engine runs good but let's out a puff of blue smoke on cold startup. Also, the crank pin was worn to its max wear limit. This rebuild has many new parts and the crankshaft is good, I just have to decide whether to rebore it or not. I picked up a new standard OEM piston for $30 just because it was a good deal but wasn't sure if I should use it on this one.

I have zero idea, but it would make sense... we we have a runner! With a new whole hydraulic system, it seems like it drives more like a car. So smooth, I wonder if there was an issue when I bought it!

Most of my tractors are without full foot boards. Fortunately I was blessed with long legs. I step in front of the left rear tire as close as I can with my left leg & then swing my right leg over the back of the seat. At this point I'm straddling the tractor & just sit down.

I find the easiest way is to simply levitate and drop myself onto the seat.. The other easiest way is to find a different tractor.. haha. My 1076 with the lack of footplates and a 48" deck on is a real trick to get on.

The IH Cub weights work out very well. I have cast weights on the out side of the rims on my plow tractor and a double stack of the Cub weights on the inside of the land wheel.

I got one of those propane yard fogger if I remember to throw it on. Don't know if it works or not but won't hurt to try. There is a drainage ditch ( a manageable one Dan ) on the east side of the grounds. Always has stagnant water in it and we suspect the source of the skeets. Don't know why the city doesn't treat it. We always joked it is a moat to try and keep the green & yello tractors from getting in. BTW Cindy saw yer line up on FB Dan and commented "what is he trying to do, play catch up with us" !

The tool boxes are Massey Ferguson and the Black Horse also has one. Handy for bits and bobs. The hitch is what we call a tool bar and fits in a slot hitch. Mainly it's used for ploughing. Allows for the plough to be set to one side. Can also be used for other equipment. I made a ball hitch that also fits into it.

Got the plow hitch and trailer hitch on "Big Oly" Finally put the fuel pump block off plate I got from Kirk Engines on the C-160 before mowing. cleaned the deck and noticed all the black hair hanging under the C so a power wash was next.

Hello, Just moved to Virginia, my wife bought a C165 from a guy locally for a lawn mower. I have since learned is it far more than the average lawn mower, now I am in the market for some attachments just don't know where to start. It has the hydro-static transmission, no leaks and runs great. First thing I would like to have is the rototiller and later maybe a push blade. Not sure what I need to do to make them work. Amy advice is appreciated and I will be searching and reading up on the machine a little here. Will upload some pictures when I am able. James

On Frank, the seat dips forward instead of backward upon receiving weight. A few times at the show, my leg found it’s way between partially under the right front of the seat and above the trans tunnel. A quick YOUCH! and back to business. Two or three more in a row, I found that it’s easiest to not rush the mounting of Frank!

@WHX24 ...these suckers sold the first day I offered them up last week. I wish I had a few dozen sets. They sell easily once people see how versatile (inside or outside mounting) they are.

I left the long spindles on my 312 when I changed to the 8" wheels. The extra clearance under the front axle allows a little more welcomed lift height for the snow plow and front tiller.

86 ss. 105k super rare bench seat column shift. Original 305 and drive train hopped up a bit. Still not a world beater obviously, but won't embarrass you either. Pics do no justice, especially in the interior, it's really nice.
