11 pointsI've been on hiatus for a while. Finishing the new place and moving and getting my new shop lined out. Finally had time for a little project and thought I would share. Every time I went to mow down by the road and in the less groomed areas of my place, I would find logs, rocks and trash from those who don't cotton to "Don't mess with Texas." I would pick it up and try to hold on to it until the load got bigger than I could handle and then I would make a pile with the intention of picking up when I headed back to the shop. I usually forgot but got a "friendly" reminder from the war department. I looked around for a way to carry the debris and couldn't find anything I liked, nor wanted to pay for. I am planning a carry all for my JD2305. So I set out to design a Carry-Some for the C-121. The goal was to use only what I had on hand. So i gathered what 3/4 plywood I had and drew it out on my workbench. (Nice to have a melamine top that I can draw on and just wash it off) I cut three strips of 3/4 plywood for the receiver hitch tongue and glued them together. I then cut my first side piece. I then took another inventory and realized I needed to cut it down a little to have enough large pieces. Then time for a bunch of pocket holes. All joints glued with Titebond II. Dado'd a cross brace into the tongue to give lateral support Primer And finally paint. viola! Didn't have any Regal Red but had a quart of IH Red which looks just fine (Better then the C-121 for sure) Had a partial can of truck bed spray so I painted the inside with it (after the coat of red) Probably would have made it 8" on the bottom instead of 12" if I could have visualized it. A little worried about going down hills and bottoming out at the bottom. Oh well, just have to be careful! I am hoping this will be a handy tool for picking up debris and keeping the war department happy.

9 pointsWe finally made it home! Husband and I couldn’t wait to put a battery in our new horse and check it out! And introduce it to the family! LOL! It was a long drive but worth it! Family and I are glad to finally be home! But really enjoyed seeing new places like Lake Erie, Niagara Falls, and other cool places! And a few problems along the way but nothing that couldn’t be handled! But the best part was to meet other cool friendly horse lovers!

7 pointsI just recently bought a gorilla lift to help raise the gate on my trailer as I have a really bad back and was looking to do something to help. This was the best $165 bucks I have ever spent!! I can raise the gate with the tip of one foot. Anybody with a bad back should check these out. I give it a big thumbs up!! Randy

5 pointsHi folks, long story, but here goes. My dad got this or at least part of this tractor about 30 years ago, I vaguely remember going with him and helping heft it into the back of a pickup truck. He ended up blending two tractors together for some reason, I dont know why. He's used it in his small garden, pulling trailers and such. Fast forward, he's 72 now, I'm turning 48 soon. So, anywho, he tells me his tractor is locked up, wont shift!!! Rutt row!!! But it is at least in neutral. I didn't have alot of time to mess with it, not that I wouldnt have, so he finds a place in south bend( an old wheelhorse dealership) that will work on it. We load it up, get there, guys come out to look at it, and guy ask if that's a hydrostatic drive!!, oh no, I knew we were in the wrong place, turns out they wont mess with it, too old! So before it escalates, I tell my dad, I'll take care of it, I knows some people, dig it!! So, on the way home, I says, you have left that tractor outside alot haven't you? Oh no, son, always inside, I didn't believe him. So I do some googling, and reading through the forum 9n what to do first, or to try. First, I drained the oil, but there wasn't any, so I shook the tractor and drained the quart of water outta the tranny. Then I filled it up with gear oil, started the tractor, let it idle abit, slowly but shirly I could shift through all the gears!!!! Yippy!!!! Then I noticed the head gasket appeared to be blown, was blowing out the side. Got a new head gasket, old one wasn't actually blown, but I installed new one anyway, still blowing by. More googling led me back here to learn to sand the head as best I could, and then more, pluse some spray on copper permatex. Sealed the gasket!!!! WOO HOO!! So next is attaching a fabricated belt restrain on the bottom of the belt guard, I learned I needed that from looking through the forum too, she grinds a little bit when trying to shift. And I also ordered a new break band today from one of the forum members. I actually power washed it today, its seen better days, but starting to look better. I'm gonna change the tranny fluid again, change the engine oil, and then I'm gonna call it good for now. Anyway, just wanted to share about my dad's old horse, and how I been spending my time lately. Learned alot too!!!

4 pointsGot some time to get a few things done. Finished the rims. Picked up a set of seat springs from fast88pu at the BS Got them blasted and painted and just finished mounting them and the seat Had to use RIVNUTS on the seat to get it to match the springs Before someone mentions that the springs are on backward...I did that on purpose It tips the seat back a little and gives a little more leg room

4 pointsI'll give it mouth to mouth. You give it chest compressions. Bill get ready to shock it. We'll save this dead horse one way or another. IT LIVES, IT LIVES
-
4 points@pullstart this was the first time I turned Emory loose in the cruise by himself, well sorta😂. Last year I walked beside him and @Wild Bill kindly followed him. He had a blast! I’ve got to clean up his tractors and take him to Dad’s farm and let him go again today. We didn’t get home until 12:30 last night and he’s ready to go again!!

4 pointsEarnhardt: it'll run, just put some tape on it and four new tires and get me back out there!

4 pointsI thought I was out of glass bead for the blasting cabinet - evidently, thrice. So, now there is 150lbs of 80 mesh glass beads down in the shop - guess I'm good for a while. Sarge

3 pointsA week ago last Friday, I was experiencing heart palpitations, and dizziness. Went through my check list - blood sugar OK, not dehydrated, hungry, but food did not help. My wife and I went to the local ER. I was hooked up to the EKG and monitored for a while. I got a dose of beta blocker, and was monitored some more. They sent me home with a new prescription for beta blockers with instructions to 'get thee to a cardiologist'. The cardiologist lined me up for a stress test and a 30 day heart monitor. The stress test indicated a heart cath to gain more data. (At this point, those of you who have heart caths will understand my title!) The heart cath revealed (among other things) that I had some blocked arteries. This sent me to a larger hospital for another heart cath to determine if I would need a stent or not. Turns out that I didn't. A change to my medication stack seems to be working, pending results of the 30 day heart monitor. Had an appointment with my primary doctor today. I started asking dumb questions and learned a lot about my condition. Understanding what is going on urges me to make the necessary life style changes. She also told me that we caught the blocked arteries early enough that control should be possible with medications instead of invasive procedures. We also discussed how the heart monitor worked and that the more important data it collects is up to me to make manual entries when/if I feel 'funny' - something that was not made clear by the cardiology staff. I go see the cardiologist Thursday, and I'm planning on asking many of the same 'dumb' questions to get the specialist's opinion. The moral of the story: If you think something is wrong, GO GET IT CHECKED OUT!!! If you don't understand, KEEP ASKING QUESTIONS UNTIL YOU DO!!! Yup, I'm turning into an old codger who is passing advice down like it or not.

3 pointsHello all! I have recently acquired a wheel horse 1045. 2 years ago she was running and mowing but now not so much. I am planning on selling it as I have no room to keep it. It is complete with the mowing deck and blade. Needs a paint job and probably just a simple connection fixed to get it running again. Can anyone give me a decent price to ask? Thanks for your help!

3 pointsLookin good, nice clean facility, a room for many purposes, much better than the ones you buy in the can.
-
3 pointsExcellent- hope you make it to the Big Show next year! Funny how you guys all seem to have that Wheel Horse, or Wheel Horse parts 'stick' to you ... it seems to happen to @AMC RULES a lot and it doesn't matter what brand of dryer sheets I use!
-
3 pointsI can just hear Bob Maynard @rmaynard (guy on the left for those who don't know Bob) saying in his best salesman's voice "Its probably not running right because it doesn't have new brake band material and lug studs installed...I'm here to help!"

3 pointsI know what i have on Tools, just a grab, an the search beginn‘s. Especially on things, not everyday needed. But i’m ahead, i know i have it, it is - hum „about in this area“ 😂
-
3 pointsI'm not to bad at knowing what tools I have and where. My better half doesn't use them. It's in the house things disappear. She tidies up and puts things away, but can't remember where. Then she asks ME where they are. Remembering peoples names and places can be dodgy.

3 pointsAgree! I see SO many more smiles on children on Wheel Horse tractors than kids on cellphones! Thank you and your family for continuing your Wheel Horse tradition and sharing your love of these tractors!

3 pointsThank you Steve! It really was great to visit with you and Chris this year-thank you both so much for your hospitality! The Big Show was fantastic and we really had excellent weather on Friday and Saturday this year! I am glad Chris enjoyed the cookie also! I also heard that "Steve on a Stick" may be touring again this year- can't wait to see where you turn up next! And you are correct- I do try to screen out such pictures!
-
3 pointsSo glad you liked the peanut butter cookies! I was happy to share them and appreciated your help in keeping me from eating any more than one!

3 pointsYou forget that I’m married Jim. A good reeming is on my weekly schedule😂🤣😂. Actually, she’s a pretty darn good woman to put up with me and even supports my addiction. Heck, she even rode in the Big Show cruise with us. Haven’t had the pleasure of meeting your wife, but that woman has got to be a saint to put up with you😂🤣😂! @Buzz, I hope you get that box figured out. I don’t mind working on tie rods and such, but me thinks there might be some black magic inside. I hope you enjoy your tractor!!

3 pointsThank you GOD. I thought I was the only one that lost tools. I buy new tools and hide them so my son won't take them. But I can't figure out where I hid em. So I'm not the only idiot, you all are idiots to.

2 pointsFound this old tractor in falling down barn on my propane delivery route. Not sure of year. Had planned to restore but no time as i'm restoring a 56 Ford F100. The engine turns free, deck in very good condition. Any help with value would be helpful. Thank you,Dennis
-
2 pointsProbably not easy to do but here is what I am thinking. I missed meeting quite a few of you while at the show. Not easy since everyone is all over and if someone does not introduce or points us out to each other it just will not happen. So why not after picture taking , staying together for a while and perhaps someone who knows most of us such as an Administrator or Moderator, sort of take over and introduce everyone. That way we can then have a face to the name and go on from there.

2 pointsAt the top right side of any page you will find a white box labeled "Search". Type in the topic or item, select where you want to look and click the little magnifying glass. If your search has more than one word you should put it in quotes. This section may be helpful .https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/forum/56-finding-your-way-around-in-redsquare/

2 pointsWelcome to Redsquare!!! @Achto Dan gave great instructions above. Be sure to throw a new shift boot on if you haven't already done so. And pictures...we looove pictures... Welcome to you as well !! Straight 140 can be tough to get here in Maine. We run 80w 90 in our fleet. The viscosity is of lesser concern than being sure to change the oil at proper intervals.

2 pointsIn fact, that deck can work. The mounting for the hitch is a bit outdated, (That design is about 1966-70) but you can still hook it on with the lift rod and mid hitch, and run the mule drive as you would a newer deck. I have one set up that way here. Just remove the tensioner assembly from the side of it and leave only the center 'cradle'. The only thing to be careful of is to slack off the tension adjustment before lifting the deck for transport, as I find they will tighten up as you lift the deck. Otherwise, it should atleast get you going. Also while not visible, that older deck may have the double pulley you need.

2 pointsI assume you have a Tecumseh 6hp engine. I recently bought one on ebay by searching for Tecumseh HH60 recoil. Jim

2 pointsLol ..sorry Lane but your picture taking ability has been somewhat improved from those days.. All the same I learned a couple of things from that basement beautie... thanks for digging it up Richard

2 pointsi'm forever putting tools or stuff away and never finding it again when I need it. When I was doing HVAC service work, If i lost a tool and couldn't find it I'd go buy another and it surly would turn up somewhere. I've been told I hide my own Easter eggs ERIC J

2 pointsHammers, screwdrivers and the like get misplaced. That happens at any age of the owner.I spent a whole day looking for a torpedo heater. In the shop,no luck.In the barn,no luck.I look in every out building and I can't find something that big.I gave up and found out later that my son showed up one day and took it and never said a word.He knows he has access to anything I have but leave a note.He comes by periodically to take inventory, his words not mine.Got to love em!

2 pointsI have a very accurate mental filing system and every tool I have ever touched has a file with the tool's location in it. The filing system is flawless, however the retrieval mechanism to open those files has some serious shortcomings! That darned retrieval system is the problem, not my memory!
