19 pointsI am getting older and wiser, well older anyway! I had a transmission to change out and decided to use my head rather than my bad back. Made a little roll around dolly that made transmission removal and replacement a snap. Four casters, some short 2 X 4s and a bit of scrap plywood and I was in business.

11 pointsFound this little guy in the yard today. He’s about 6 or 7 weeks old. The picture is perfect.

8 pointsToday my narrow front 953 and I took the day off to cruise around a local T & E show. There were four Wheel Horses present which is about average for shows down this way. Enjoy!

6 pointsI recently started golfing. I will never claim to be good, but You betcha I get the most strokes per dollar on Tuesday’s golf league! I noticed people had ball markers. I thought it would be fun to get a custom one... so I picked this bad boy up!

6 pointsWhat a beautiful day in new England for some baseball and some wheel horses. This morning i started out mowing with my 416H then @ebinmaine and his wife stopped by to pick up a tractor that I picked up in New York for them this winter and held here. Then we headed to my youngest sons baseball game. From there we went to my oldest sons game where my youngest son ended up having to fill in. What a fun game and Aiden has been on fire hitting pitching and fielding. He may be small but he packs a punch. Once the game was over it was back home to finish mowing and the oldest helped with that while the youngest helped plant pumpkins with my 753. Then the 2 drove around the yard for a while. I think it's time for some relaxation.

6 pointsWell, she’s ready for her unveiling at Dad’s. In the pictures you’ll notice a Ford tractor dealership decal. My grandfather was Eubert Jones, 1/2 owner of the dealership. My dad was a salesman and delivery driver. My uncle was a mechanic. Dad sold this tractor new and was able to purchase it when it was taken back due to repossession. It’s been in the family ever since. The first pic is a pic of the only original decal we have left - on the front of Dad’s 2000. Terry , @Vinylguy, was kind enough to make me up a batch of exact reproduction decals. Thank you so much Terry!!!!! It was the cherry that put it over the top!

6 pointsUPDATE Ok I have some good news and some bad news. I did get the metal for the seats and they are made as good as the originals. I have half of the asking price in materal alone. So a set will be $200.00 or $100.00 each. I didn't want them to be any more then the 1054/953 but it didn't work out. They did come out pretty good. I don't think anyone has ever made these and I can understand why. I'll sell only 5 sets before the Big Show to those that are not going. And I'll bring 10 sets to the show.

5 pointsStarted truck shopping today and the third stop into it I ran across this 04 ranger at a local dealer. When I first saw it I peaked in the window and saw it had a stick shift. Thinking most of these trucks came with a four-cylinder with a standard transmission. Found out it had a 3.0 V6 . It has 70,000 miles on it and a one owner truck. Super clean !! Paid 5900 for it!

4 pointsI was never a cat fan till we got our first 11 years ago. I love my cat, greets me at the door when I come home from work. Crawls onto my lap when I’m watching the tube and surfing Red Square And of course sleeps glued to my side almost every night.

4 pointsTrust me Kevin, I have a small Wheel Horse artifact that I use. Note, while that looks excellent, it will not help your game. Welcome to the nice walk gone bad club. Best advise...swing easy to keep you back lasting longer. We were playing this course in Minnesota just before the LaSueur show. That is @Shynon with his hands over his eyes...Dennis and JoeBob. I had just chipped in from off the green.

4 pointsA trip to Mt. Rushmore had been on our bucket list for over ten years. Even though we had the Florida trip planned for the end of summer, a deal for cheap airfare and rental car came up and we couldn't refuse. Also, my wife am I were fans of the HBO series Deadwood back in 2004-2006. With the release of Deadwood the movie last night, it was perfect timing. I forgot to mention that we went to the site of the Mammoth dig in Hot Springs, SD. @stevasaurus we saw your cousins.

4 pointsThese diagrams will help you understand the different circuits. Try holding the pto lever back toward you when starting. If that does it you can likely make an adjustment to have switch contact made sooner. I have one that is like that and have not fixed it. I am the only one that knows how to start it. There are two switches next to each other. One controls the starter circuit and the other the ignition circuit. The pto switches are item #20 on this diagram https://www.partstree.com/parts/toro/mowers-lawn-garden-tractor/73400-314-8-toro-314-8-garden-tractor-sn-3900001-3999999-1993/electrical-system_3/ Garry

4 pointsDid a spring trip to the Black Hills of South Dakota. Stayed in Deadwood, saw Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Badlands National Park, Custer State Park, Spearfish Canyon, Wall Drug, then drove to Wyoming to see Devil's Tower. Trip started with temperatures in the 80's. Then we were hit with a surprise snow storm on day 3. Spent the rest of the trip driving in snow up to 11" deep with temps in the 30's. Next trip is to the WHCC show. Hopefully no snow. September will find the family in Disney World.

4 pointsI probably should have done this sooner but here goes: my father recently closed his Toro/Wheel Horse dealership and has many good new parts in stock, and we will finally be coming to the show this year and will be willing to bring parts along. If you message me or reply to this thread with part #'s or good descriptions we can check inventory and work out a price. Most of his inventory consists of mid 70's thru current WH/ Toro(and push mower), no big parts like engines, sheetmetal, etc, but lots of good current and discontinued parts. Let me know

3 pointsI just installed an LED light bar in the freshly painted hood of my 71 Raider. I have not tested the lights on the tractor, as I am going to give the paint another week to cure before I handle it anymore. I tested the light bar on my truck battery, and nearly blinded myself... It is amazing how much light you can get from 18 watts... Let me know what you think. Danny

3 pointsYoungest Son-in-Law asked if I could collect a ride on mower, the owner of the holiday site he works at had given him. Also could I sort it out for him. Somethings not right with the steering he said. Not right was an understatement. It didn't. Anyway we picked it up this morning. Westwood S1300. B&S 12-1/2hp with mowing deck. Age as yet unknown and in need of a good clean. On investigation I found the gear that engages the steering quadrant was badly worn. So worn it was not engaging the quadrant. New gear and quadrant needed. £80 off that site. Engine runs sweet as a nut and the oil is clean. Needs a battery clamp and that's about it. Deck needs a good pressure wash underneath e seems sound. Not bad for free.

3 pointsI never run a radio on my bike. However, somehow the radio started hissing and I thought it a mechanical problem. the bike sidestand was not properly put up and it started hitting the road at speed. It took me into the ditch after three attempts at righting the beast at probably 45 MPH. 67 years old and 45 MPH is not a good thing. By some miracle, there is no joint damage or broken bones. i am probably carrying about a gallon of swelled up tissue around. The bruises are from bright purple to almost black at this point. Three days in the hospital as all this resulted in my body being low on oil and constant checks on the resulting low blood pressure until all those fluids had a chance to replace themselves. The pain is tremendous. After the initial aching, which still remains, my skin felt like it was set on fire. Oxy will take that away, but not doing that [only as a last resort] Once I got home, I immediately tried to reduce the oXY they gave me. I have now at either zero or just one a day. I have found out that the Tylenol dose needs to be on schedule as all those extra fluids will cause fever if not medicated.. But all in all ,I have absolutely no complaints, as I got off really easy. I can walk and stand, but have difficulty sitting and resting. I am getting a backup lawn mower ready, a c-series auto with 48 inch deck. My other mower is going to maintain another property to be stored there. things could be so much much worse in the healing process. i did crash at the first ER as my BP went to 40 on the high side. My wife thought they were losing me. then the took me to a better trauma center and those doctors were amazed ho light the actual injuries were. Landing in wet cut side ditch grass sure beats a gravel road....

3 pointsGreat idea, 953! I used my motorcycle jack with appropriately sized spacers to get it to the right angle, but your dolly looks more stable. Danny

3 pointsNot produced by Wheel Horse but I have the only bi-plane /bird feeder in existence. A retired Korean War pilot made this for me on my birthday about 5 years ago. He used to work part time for my brother and I met him at a dinner one night. He builds these custom feeders for his friends and we talked about planes for a few hours. A week later this plane is on my doorstep when I got home from work. It's hanging over my desk at home. I added the Snoopy!

3 pointsZXT, I found your comment interesting, because I was concerned that the light may be too focused... I don’t know squat about LED’s, only what I read on the ad for the light. It was confusing, because in one ad they called it a flood light, and in another they called it a spot light... There are several vendors for the same light on Ebay, and they use different ads. I figured for $11, I could not go wrong. I rarely use the tractor at night, and the only time I needed the lights were when I was putting it away after dark. Something I considered is replacing the Lexan cover with a frosted one, or even using the original Wheel Horse cover to disperse the light. Will see how it works when I get it together. Right now, the wife has other plans... Danny

3 pointsFor the push pull type, the way I do it is cut off the Z bend and pull the wire out of the conduit. Put a slight bend in the wire to create friction between it and the conduit wall. Slide the wire back in and make a new Z bend. Just be careful because too much of a bend in the wire will create too much friction so test it before making the new Z bend. Or you can go the easy route and use clothes pins or small vice grips to clamp the rod near the knob

3 pointsThe front idler assembly is part of the mower deck not the tractor. https://www.partstree.com/parts/toro/mower-deck-assemblies/05-42ms03-toro-42-side-discharge-mower-deck-1984/rear-discharge-mower-42-in-107-cm-vehicle-identification-number-05-42mr02_2/ V-idler pulley - 4.250" OD - 104974 replaced by 92-7103 (3/4" ID) (Stens 280-750 HD, Napa 7-05486) Flat idler pulley - 4.125" OD - 101762 and 104144 replaced by WH 104975 (Stens 280-743 Flat OD 3.500" x .750" wide Overall width 1-1/8" ID 3/4" , Oregon 34-039, Rotary 8373) Garry

2 pointsWhen my Grandfather was 96 his doctor retired and he had to begin seeing a young new doctor. For his first appointment my uncle took him in and the young doctor told him he needed to go on a low salt, low fat diet and couldn't drink sodas. That pretty well eliminated everything from his diet! I took him in for the follow up and it was priceless. He told the doctor that he felt no better, his vital signs were the same and while he appreciated the young doctor's concern for his health he said he would like to be referred to a doctor who understands what getting older is like! The doctor learned a lot that day. He told me to let grandpa eat anything he wanted, it had worked well for 96 years, couldn't be that bad for him.

2 pointsThanks guy's for the interests in the larger antique machines. We still use our machines but, not so much in everyday production. I use mine around my farms and take them to shows.
-
2 pointsAs I said before, those look fantastic! I've already PM'ed you. I've gotta have a set

2 pointsThats exactly what my piston is doing in my K181. I wondered about breaking the glaze with a ball hone and putting new rings in it to atleast make the problem smaller for the time being. What could it hurt to try it right? I might pick up some Lucas too. Never used it maybe it will help.
-
2 pointsI do them the same way on a piece of 5/8 thick plate glass with a whole sheet glued to it.However when they are that bad I start with 60 or 80 grit progressively going up to 220. It goes a lot faster that way.

2 pointsDad came to get Emory for a haircut today. Emory was dying to show him, but I still have a special something to add thanks to our very own Terry, @Vinylguy! More pics to come.
