12 pointsHad a run over to a little classic car show held near Penrith, Cumbria, UK. This is held every year and usually has a good turn out. Unfortunately the weather this morning was very wet and windy. So I expect more than a few cars didn't leave their cosy garages. Anyway a few photos of some exhibits there.

9 pointsAs it is her Birthday month thought i would share a picture of my Ranger at work. Father bought her in May of 67. With the exception a 2 years in the early 90s when father was ill she has worked every year of her life and for the last 18 winter and summer. Last year the garden did poorly things near drowned and as this year has started wet I wanted to get a bit of a raised bed. Not sure I want pressure treated chemicals and cedar is hugely expensive. The recent wind storm tipped over a bunch aspen trees. They are not good for fuel and they will rot in a few years but the price was right...free. Ranger hauled the logs in and is now transporting topsoil (or what passes for it around here). Had to stop as there is a T-storm approaching again...

8 pointsNever owned one and looking forward to finding a motor for it. If anyone has an original motor, please let me know. I believe this may be a mid 50’s?

4 pointsDoes the presence of a wood floor indicate that this was taken in the house? If so how did you get permission from the (person in charge)?

3 pointsI've been bringing home a few buckets at a time of Appalachian forest soil every time I go riding . This is the result of 8 five gallon buckets after running it through a 1/2 inch screen . I know it's not a lot but remember I'm hauling a 700 lb quad plus all my gear too

3 pointsLoaded up 6 horses and headed to one of our local shows. Took my favorite 2 boys with me. We had a great time. Wish we could have stayed both days but unfortunately I have to work the next 2 days.

3 points@953 nut here is a link. This guy usually does a 10 to 15 minute video of the show this one is alot smaller this year.

3 pointsOver the past few weeks, I've been working on a 48" dozer blade that I recently purchased. It was pretty rough and rusty. I took it off it's long frame and swapped it for the dozer blade that is on my short frame Commando 8. I put the 42" dozer blade that was on that on the long frame and was able to sell it for a bit more than what I paid for it. That just about covered the cost of a new scraper bar. I wire brushed and ground it down to get the rust off it and filled all the pits. I'm happy enough with how it turned out. Now it has plenty of time to cure before I need it.

3 pointsYou keep that up long enough and it will be known as the Appalachian Valley rather than the Appalachian Mountains!

3 pointsHahahaha you guys are correct it was inside....once it was reassembled it actually sat in our master bedroom until we moved . Now it’s in a garage on a shelf with a blanket over it. Not the first tractor I assembled in the house...my 753 was start to finish in our dining room....my 67 John Deere 110 was started in our back room. our new place we are at now has a garage...with all my tractors in there and on shelves (one on top of each other) I still don’t have enough room

3 pointsAny hard-working engine will get heat-soaked. It's important to let the engine run for a few minutes after working so that the cooling system has a change to bring the temperature down a bit, and also even out the "hot spots" that develop around the exhaust valves and manifold passages. Even water-cooled engines have this issue. Let the engine idle for a few minutes, and the temperature may briefly rise as the heat-soak works its way through the block and head, but then the cooling system will "catch up" and even out and lower the temperature. Five minutes or so is all it takes. It goes a long way toward keeping the exhaust valves and exhaust system in good condition. This is assuming the cooling system is in good order, of course. For air-cooled engines, it means making sure the fins on the head are kept clean and clear of debris, otherwise the gunk just holds the heat in no matter what. Basically, when I'm done mowing or snowthrowing, I'll just let the engine idle while I clean off the machine. The time it takes to brush off the excess snow and ice in the winter, or to thoroughly wash or blow off the dust and clippings in the summer, is usually long enough to let the engine idle and cool down so it's ready to shut off when the cleanup is done.

3 pointsI agree it is the deck wheels. and i have to wonder why there are no check balls in the zerk fitting on any of them. You pump in some grease pull off the gun and a thin stream of grease shoots out getting on the wheel and the floor. Looked to replace the zerks but they are not screwed in they are some kind of press fit.

3 pointsMost of today will be spent relaxing and tending to my fire. I injected a 10lb pork butt last night, at 5am it went in the smoker. Now I can relax & wait for supper time.

2 pointsBeen a long day today. Pictures are aren't the best. Brought this one from the the Buckeye state (Ohio). I know everyone loves guessing what it is. Got home from work, Left here at around 8:15 got home around 1 then went to bed.
-
2 pointsSo I now know first hand what you guys are talking about. I mowed this weekend with my Commando 8, my first time mowing on a WH. Now, every time I go outside to walk my dog, I'm thinking "hmmm.... is the grass tall enough to cut yet???" Lol The Commando has taken mowing from a chore and turned it into something I'm actually looking forward to doing.

2 pointsMowed with the C-120 for the first time with its rebuilt K321. I'm conflicted whether or not I should call it a C-140 now. It mowed fine (other than needing new blades) and the engine still sounded fine afterwards so hopefully I put it together correctly. Here's a pic afterwards with it running. The engine doesn't match, but oh well.

2 pointsOh man it's about time!!! Been a great day so far and we're not done yet. My buddy had come over and help us out. Him and his wife. They took three, 10 cubic foot trailer loads of wood and we have three waiting to be stacked. Trina and I are on our own for the rest of the evening but we will probably go back down in the forest and get another two loads tonight. We'll see how we hold out. The two saws I have are an Echo CS490 that I picked up a couple years ago. Been great so far. Good saw for the money. Not a monster but definitely has plenty of power for me. The other one I just recently acquired. As you all know I don't much time online except Redsquare so I mentioned to several family members that if they see a small to medium-sized saw for sale please let me know. My sister says... I've got one you can have. Turns out her husband didn't like it for whatever silly reason. That's a Stihl ms180c. It's probably 7 or 9 years old but it has almost no hours on it whatsoever. Might as well be brand new. I used that exclusively today and I'm very very happy with it. It's a great little saw. Well balanced. Decent power for the size until you get into 8 or 10 inch thick hardwood. At that point you just have to take your time. My buddies tractor is a Sentinel made by Noma. 18 horse V-Twin Briggs that runs and sounds like a Harley engine. 6 speed peerless transaxle.

2 points225. When the meat reaches 165 I take it out & wrap it tight in foil. Then I return it to the smoker until the meat reaches 195 to 200. Then pull it out, wrap it in blankets & put it an empty cooler to rest for a couple of hours. The meat will actually gain a few degrees temp while resting in the cooler. From there it's shred it up for serving.

2 pointsSounds like a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon to me. Time spent with a chainsaw in hand or on the seat of a WH is time well spent in my books. Need to do a little wood cutting myself today if the weather holds out and doesn’t dump another two inches of rain on us this afternoon. Can’t make out what kind of saw you’ve got in your trailer there, my saw of choice is my Stihl MS250 I bought to replace 3 of my older saws when I sold my tree cutting equipment, but I’ve still got grandads old Husqvarna 372xp if I get into some real big stuff

2 pointsWill likely spend a lot of tomorrow helping my dad build the deck on the back of the house at our river property. Also adding on to the house and It's to the point that I need to start pulling Romex.. If I get a free minute I might throw a line in the water and see if I can't catch something to eat. For today, I plan on giving my C120 on its maiden mowing voyage with the new engine and working on some things that need to be tended to around the house.

2 pointsWe had a beautiful day yesterday, near 85, and the kids put on their swimming gear and sprayed each other with the hose. I turned the big fan on and pointed it your direction Eric! Supposed to be another beautiful day here today but tomorrow is a little iffy right now... @Professor1990 that is a crazy amount of rain for anywhere but especially that part of the country. Reminds me of the classic Johnny Cash song...

2 pointsAnyone near there have a they could loan CDOT? Low 1 and a couple chains should do the trick...maybe a front blade for clean up...

2 pointsI have a couple of bolt ons that work well and one of those sweet weight hangers.
-
2 pointsI drug my mom's 65 Mustang around today with my 65 Wheelie Horse. They are both red. I needed the Mustang out of the garage so I can do some work on the engine and trans of my Ranger. I wanted it parked away from the second door, so it had to go down the hill and back up the hill at the end of the garage. Last time I pushed it up that hill I think I almost had a heart attack, so I towed it this time. I was impressed with how easily it pulled that heavy car up the hill. She didn't even think twice about it.

2 pointsActually there is no cell service at all over at the shop, it is at the foot of a mountain and the tower is on the other side. Besides, there is nothing wrong with my senior citizen flip phone!
