7 pointsFolks, Was wandering around at a flea market today and saw this: Seller says it is a 61 Suburban. I have no clue... I regret not asking what he wanted for it, but had other things on my mind. If anyone is interested, I will be happy to tell you where I saw it. Danny

7 pointsI never had a facebook account.I figure there's enough BS in the world without adding to it.

6 pointsI closed my Facebook Acct.. got tired of all the political arguments. looks like I’m going to be trolling the red square pages a lot more often now.. lol I buy, build, & collect custom modified Wheel Horses. I’ve had difficulty in the past navigating this site in my phone. Only choice I have though. No internet for PC or laptop where we live. If I’m slow to reply to anything it’s not because I’m ignoring anyone. It’s probably because I’m trying to figure it how to use this.. thanks all! BG

6 pointsWell if finally dried out enough to get out and till the garden. Got the big D running great, took some time to put the rest of the body on and hooked up the tiller for the first time. Ran great and made short work of the tilling. I put bigger tires on the front and have 3 gallons of washer fluid in each one for a total of about 50 pounds. Still a little light. But I got a couple hours of seat time in and couldn’t resist a photo op.

6 pointsSome of you know I did a little work to the Raider recently. I replaced the fuel lines and removed , stripped , fixed and painted the battery tray and removed the deck . With the very rainy spring we have had here , mowing opportunities have been few and far between . Yesterday was perfect . Got home from work a little early , fired up the zero-turn , went in the garage to close the doors and when I came out the Z/T was chugging black smoke , sputtering and running terrible . I pulled the carb and cleaned the sucker 3 times and each time I reinstalled it it would run fine , then start acting up as soon as the float bowl filled . By then it was late and time to shower , eat & turn in for the night . Today I got home from work just before the rain , managed to get the deck re-mounted on the Wheel Horse and after a little adjustment she roared to life . I cant describe the feeling I get when I do mow with this machine ( been about 4 years now since I did ). A big smile always accompanies the steady cluck , cluck , cluck of this "big single" torque monster called Kohler . Not to mention all the glances from the neighbors who seldom ( if ever ) do get a chance to see this machine . So , a sincere thanks and a hearty toast ( Arizona Sweet Tea no ice for me ) , to those responsible for creating this wonderful , seemingly timeless machine called Wheel Horse ! Thank you !!!!! -Gene

5 pointsGot the engine in. It bolted right up. Had to add spacers to the hood to lift it. I need to to locate a belt guard. I saw reproduction ones on eBay but now they aren’t there anymore. I think I’m going to name it Fifty Shades of Black because of all the different black parts on it.
-
5 pointsWhen I've had a troublesome one, I've just run a drywall screw into it and yanked it out.... not like you're planning on reusing it.
-
4 pointsThis is on a local auction site, I hope to be able to watch the sale. If anything, the pictures sure do give a whole lotta inspiration! I was first attracted to my first 502 Because it reminded me of my Uncle’s old 9N that he had restored years ago.... I wouldn’t expect a newer model to be base for such a replica.

4 pointsOooooooooo that gloss! I’ll keep the coats on the pump down to a minimum, but it sounds like Frank will be partially/majorly retired upon completion unless I steal him away for a few hours here or there. With that said, I won’t be too concerned with excess heat on the pump. I received a jungle shipment today of 1000-3000 grit wet/dry sandpaper and have a few things on the hood to polish up before a final coat or two of crystal gloss.

4 pointsWelcome back. I use only my phone as well about 99% of the time. I can tether to this account but rarely do so because it uses so much data for just a few minutes. We have purposely "disconnected" from the internet and cable at home. We're too busy to use it. Using a phone is a VERY different experience from using a PC. I've gotten used to it after a few months. I also do not have, and have never had... A FB account. I have very little use for negativity, politics, or religious discussion. Redsquare is the only social media site I use. I get everything I need or want from the fine folks here.... About tractors yes... And also about everything else I've ever asked.
-
4 pointsFamily site here 'Apples watch that four letter F word... lest yer giving away tractors... What ya do buy the missus a couple of rakes don't need the sweepers?
-
4 pointsWell, welcome back... even if you have to settle for us! I’m looking forward to hear what you’ve been up to with your fleet Barry!

4 pointsThe frame is ground down, scrubbed, blasted and awaiting it’s turn in the clear coat booth! I know I keep joking around that I’m glad I convinced my wife that we need to just clear it, but man I’m glad she hollered at me when I put the first piece in the dunk tank. Frank looks good. I would have liked to see it cleaned up and painted real nice, but this shows the work put into the build so much more.
-
4 pointsYou can reach around to shift pretty easily. butvif there is a passenger, yes, it’s easier to let them do it. And much safer if it’s your buddy’s wife. Lol

4 pointsCas, I am so sorry to hear of your wife's suffering. I wish I had some magical advice to help you through these troubling times. I won't go into details, but several events over the past few years have caused me to spend hundreds of hours visiting family members and a friend in hospitals and rehab centers. Corresponding with another Red Square member in a similar situation has helped me cope with the pain of seeing a loved one suffer. Please feel free to PM me if you want to talk.
-
4 pointsI am sorry to hear all the things you have going on, I know I can't help other than to suggest you take these issues before the LORD. Be patient with him as results do not always happen in a short time. He tells us in scripture he can not always take us around the storm, but he will carry us through the storm and out the other side. You just have to believe with all your heart.
-
4 pointsReally sorry to hear this as worry is not conducive to a long life. I can understand your wife's situation and the burden that comes with it. That in itself needs to be addressed. You need to take care of yourself and be very attuned to how your doing. Don't worry about it just be ready to admit you need a break and then take one. Your going to feel guilty about it but things will go fine and when you return you'll feel better. That is really important. Also you need to get good sleep. Handling stress, pain, and daily trials is much easier to do if your rested. This is well documented. Your diet should be taken into consideration also. This is easier said than done but try not to worry. There are things you can change and things you can't and no amount of worry will change that. I was the worst worry wart at work to the point my stomach was all messed up. Finally one day it dawned on me that I'm only one person and can only take care of so many things. That made a huge difference in my life and health. Hopefully you can come to grips with your situation and you start feeling better. Best of luck to you.

4 pointsTilled a little patch for the kids to grow some peas and stuff in. Still amazed how fine a job that 50" tiller does.

3 pointsInterested to find out what you guy's have planned for this weekend.possibly opening up camp, fishing, boating, hiking?, maybe quality seat time around the yard? This is only the 2nd year that I will not be opening up camp putting dock in place, turning on water, installing boat lift etc, kinda feels good not to have to head up the Maine Turnpike with what seems like everyone else, sold camps, sometimes less is more, instead I will continue with this years project which is painting the house, been putting that off for a few years, now that the rain has stopped it's time to get real busy.
-
3 pointsWe stay to home most holiday weekends so as to not have to deal with the inordinately large amount of Ummmmm... Bright people... that are out gallivanting around. This weekend will be getting things sharpened up and ready Saturday for a logging day Sunday. Lots of other tinkering, puttering and general stuff to do. Mostly our focus will be on building the chicken run. Also need to get the garden put in. Monday I'll be changing tires and fixing lights on the utility trailer in prep for next weekend... Running down to Massachusetts to see a couple fine Redsquare members.

3 pointsCouldn’t leave well enough alone, I’m wet sanding as much as I can now. It just pops so much nicer!
-
3 pointsThese are our mowing weapons! We mainly use the 2 '68 Toro Whirlwinds. They don't have any safety devices, so they just mow and blow the grass right out, no clogging! When we get lazy , Then we get out the C-105 with it's 36: rear discharge deck. C-85
-
3 pointsFinal washing of the transmission before assembly! I still need to grind down the frame welds, wash the chassis real good, then some clear here and there before we have a roller again.
-
3 pointsI use my Bronco 14 or the 520-H Miss Vicky mows the majority of the yard with our Grasshopoer zero turn. (faster) but I prefer to use one of the Wheel Horse’s to do front & side yard around the house. I think they “stripe” better than the grasshopper.
-
3 pointsIf you were still running at full throttle when you turn off the key almost any engine will do that. If you’ve had it down at idle for a couple of minutes and it still backfires you probably have carburetor issues. I always let my machines run for about 30 seconds minimum at idle before turning off the key.
-
3 pointsI had an elder co-worker tell me one time.... that “All women are beautiful, just some more than others.” For some reason that statement up there reminded me of Bob!
-
3 points854 is a shot frame, 1257 is a long frame, that is what throws it off.
-
3 pointsThe bolt pattern is non-symmetrical, can only go on one way.
-
3 pointsThought I would share, what a C195 also can be used for, and handle. That thing keeps amazing me.............. So, I have about 2 akers of lawn that I spray for weeds, and about half an aker of gravel road I also spray to keep grass and weeds out of. Lots of fruit trees and bushes that also gets a spray against critters. It was a bit much with the back pack sprayer, so I had my eyes on this thing for a while. It sprays 140" in one swat, and has foldable booms. It hold 40 gallon, just what I need to do the lawn in one go. It has a very good wand, and a fair length hose for it too. Full it ways in at about 400 Lbs, and the 3 pt just picks it up with no sweat at all. Tractor runs nicely with it, although a little light on the front legs. If you have the use for something like this, I can only recommend this setup. Heres the tractor porn

-
2 pointsNot sure a little non ethanol and some seafoam is going to do much, but only non ethanol and some seafoam all year long will help for the next 10+ years .
-
2 pointsWell, if you were to actually build this complete unit and account for your time then that is a low price.
-
2 pointsGenerally speaking Trina and I are both "Shiny Paint" people. We do have an appreciation and an understanding for the look of the patina and the originality of it. I believe in this particular case that your best option is definitely to leave the patina and the welds and show off all the impressive work that you have done. I'm glad your female told you that is the way it's going to be.

2 pointsI’ve secured a ‘58 RJ, and would like to find another project tractor of the same year and model. My plans are to do side by side rebuilds with my girls, them doing the work and me teaching. If anyone’s got a lead and pictures, please tag me... or that’ll be my shopping list for the show. Otherwise I believe I’m full for the ride home. who am I kidding’... my wife asked me if we should just plan on driving two trucks
-
2 pointsI knew it was something like that Richard and I quite couldn't figure it out. Correct me if wrong but I was under the impression shorts and longs shared the same dims rearward of the footrest bar?? Yes I still have it installed and working on the 1257. I can get you those dims tonight if I think of it DB. If your interested I would be willing to trade rockshafts as I could use yours. You would have to deal with the missing stud on mine but not a big deal at all. I also have the axle bracket yet but didn't really want to part with it. If you can fab a rock shaft you should be able to fab the axle bracket tho. I think I have the switch relocation bracket as well if needed.
-
2 pointsGood question and often asked so put a file together you can print out. This is from a later model but likely still applies to yours. This is from an illustrated parts list. Click on the picture Garry

2 pointsThat 1055 sure turned out “Purdy”! Well done Jim I like the gold accents and the overall look of the machine. So cool to see another rescue of one of these fine little machines that was one wrong owner away from the scrap pile. I can’t wait to check this one out in person sometime soon. School is just about out for the kiddos and that will free up our schedule quite a bit...
-
2 pointsWe have a piece of glass and tape the paper to it. You'll see in just a few minutes if it's warped. Using a straight edge on a head really won't be a reliable indicator because you can't read all of it simultaneously.

2 pointsSo last Sat. afternoon I'm out messing around in the shop, I was feeling a little haggard so I put in a couple Merle CD's. About half way through the first CD, neighbor fires of his year and a half old craftsman rider, it starts hunting bad at idol but smooths out some a full throttle, of he goes, I turn up the volume a little. About 10 minutes later neighbor across the street fires up his 4 year old toro Z turn same thing, off he goes, a little more volume. Lady down the road fires off here 5 year old craftsman Z turn, about 5 minutes in to the cut, yep you guessed it, volume now at 7. I pulled out two of my 32+ year old WH, my 26 year old JD, to charge the batteries, and both my old generators to get ready for hurricane season. I waited till they were done cutting their yard, then fired them all up, the only thing hunting was me for another beer . Over the years I've told them to stop using ethanol gas or at least use it within 2 months, do they listen, . All I can say is thank goodness, for non ethanol gas, Anheuser Bush, and of course Merle Haggard . Chris, living the retired life in Northwest Florida.

2 pointsHere is one that @meadowfield posted a while back. I liked it so much I made one too.
-
2 pointsYes although the tires look cool I'll be the first to admit they are not the choice for traction. This was pretty slick clay dirt tho but I did notice a guy laying down lime. I don't get why they work good on skid steers and such. Fluid and weights would definitely help. Some more other brands & customs... The show's host has an collection of vintage stuff that just does not quit! All neatly displayed. Dan getting a little seat time on the 1055 when loading.
