We showed up at AJ's enjoying the nice sunny 60+ weather, perfect day for a show. By the time we were done plowing and playin with the stone boat a thunder storm rolls in. This kinda stopped me from strolling around to get more pic's. I was quite happy sitting under a canopy shooting the breeze with @stevasaurus. Fact is the only pic's that I came home with are the ones that Cindy took with my camera. So I'll share some of those with you. Radpferd turning a little dirt. After burying the plow as deep as i could get it, I couldn't seem to make the engine work. Couldn't even get any smoke out of the pipe. No added weight, 2nd gear at about 1/2 throttle & I was running other guys down. This Horse is kind of a Clydesdale. Jim getting the rings seated on his 1055. With out added weight his tractor had no problem pulling a plow. Some other brands struggled a bit to do the job. Next we had a chance to play with a stone boat. A Cub Cadet with duels on was up before Radpferd, They had to drop down to one added weight in order for him to move it. I hooked up with the single weight on the sled. Mover about a foot & said too easy guys. So they threw another one on. Another foot or so & I said a little more please. Keep 'em coming boy's!! At this point the belt started to chirp a bit so I decided to call it good. Still no smoke out of the stack. It was like we were just cruising in a parade. Towards the end of the track I stopped to up shift but lost traction. Jim hooked hooked up. He had some traction trouble getting going. After he was rolling I added my weight to the equation. His 1055 purred right along with no issues. All in all it was a good show even if the rain chased some people off. It was good to talk with people that I hadn't seen since last year.

I've only worked this tractor a little bit. I've rolled the lawn, did some mold board plowing, and messed around pulling a stone boat. With a little over 3hrs on the clock, the fuel level has barley moved. Best estimate would be around a quart of fuel used so far. I guess my just hasn't acquired a taste for diesel yet. If I happen to find another one of these Hatz engines at a price that I can afford, I will most definitely be building a worker with it. What do I mow my lawn with?? I used to use a 21" push mower. Now I mow with a Swisher Ride King that came from the auction at Garden Tractor Daze last year. @WHX22 was nice enough to bid on it for me while I was checking on some ribs that I had on the smoker. Winning bid was $55, and it only took us about 20 min to get it running & mowing. These work good if you have a fairly flat lawn and they are a blast to drive. You do get a few looks while your zipping around on it too.

What can I tell you about it other than it was wet & very few of RS members in attendance. Oh well made lemonade anyway. @stevasaurus photo bombed our meager line up. More pics to come Left to right @Achto's Rapferd, his 1076, the Rat Rod, my new to me 1055 and my go to 1067.

Yes although the tires look cool I'll be the first to admit they are not the choice for traction. This was pretty slick clay dirt tho but I did notice a guy laying down lime. I don't get why they work good on skid steers and such. Fluid and weights would definitely help. Some more other brands & customs... The show's host has an collection of vintage stuff that just does not quit! All neatly displayed. Dan getting a little seat time on the 1055 when loading.

Got in a bit of pulling too 'for the rains set in. Sled weights 300 or so weights are 125 you do the math.

Dan tying down & managed to slip the RR on the tail end of the load...if it fits it ships he says! So we show up with these nice shiney just built tractors ... and promptly proceed to stick them in the dirt! Guys are thinkin ..yah trailer queens... bunch of bozos sticken them in dirt..NOT! I got rings that need seating!

The Village I live in is recognized by the U.S. Government as "The Birthplace of Memorial Day". They have a car and tractor show downtown on Sunday. Weather permitting I bring a tractor or 2 to it. It's a little bit of a PITA to do it as there is little parking so I have to drive the tractor there. Then the IH Club guys move my stuff when I'm out looking at all the cars so they can have my spot and they stick me on the end. I had an RJ there one year and they physically picked it up and carried it to another place. I've had to set up with the JD guys a couple of times. I also have some tractors on display in my front yard.

Park bench is now finished and back in it's place on the green. It could do with three more slats in the seat, but that was all the wood I had. One day it may get some if I come across some suitable wood.

Thatsss a good one Posi....... how about a wheel chock for an unbridled hydro?!?! Hey I didn't come up with this .. just showing what I saw!

Trina found a great design for a plastic tote feeder online. It'll hold quite a pile of food and gives very little waste from spillage. Most of the time it will be brought in at night. If we go away it could be left in the coop and they'd have food for several days.

So I've been searching for 4 whole years for a 140, and after getting the offer to pick this one up, I just HAD to jump on it. We got it on Friday, just before another buyer came on Sunday to pick it up. We ended up bringing it home, along with a set of 212 side panels and a 300 carcass. We of course forgot our straps and had only one to strap down: The 140s hood, 212 side panels, 300 fenders, 140 fuel tank, 140, and the 300. We managed to get home safely and nothing was lost. The 140 needs a new back tire, a motor, a new steering column, battery tray, and all the electrical. The hood is just sitting on the frame for now, but planning to have it mounted in the future. Luckily for me it sat in the original owner's sunroom after the motor went out but after 15 or so years of sitting in there he had to sell it, after which it sat outside under a tree, exposed to the sun. Luckily we got it only shortly after. The 140 is pretty much mint, having only faded paint, and a little bit of rust. All the dash components are either in bad shape or missing so everything's getting replaced. The paint IS original, just faded from sitting under a glass roof, and the rust is just from the battery and the little bit of sitting outside it did. The hood only has one crack on the front and a tiny chunk missing, and headlight panel has been impaled, but the rubber ring and wiring is still there. Other than that, this thing is completely unmolested. The 300 is donating its H1.5 (there's 2 handles but only one set of front lines; there was a diverter valve), its steering, some of its hydro linkage parts, and the hydraulic caps. There isn't much other than that, but I am selling the mint dash on it.

After long three weeks she is done. There was a lot of little things wrong with this tractor. Not maintained like the owner said it was.The main thing was the tranny. The hubs where so frozen on the shafts and off the keys way that it busted the snap rings inside while trying to remove. So I brought to my delaer they had they had to recut the rig groove deeper to accept new rings. To cut cost took all parts off that where not necessary and did my own seals and fluid. Price was not bad. They had the parts so why not.

So it is with my Bad Boy, it's a lot of fun, takes me about an hour and a half for what I mow. And it does a sweet job.

What's the rush? I just got two hours of quality seat time on the 310-8 this afternoon, mowing is pleasurable, not drudgery!

Discussed here many, many times.I'd either peen the rivet that goes through the lever or drill out the rivet and replace it with a machine screw and double nuts or one lock nut.Easy fix for a pain in the a__ problem.

leakage there is a sign of excessive pressure in the crank case. Like Eric says check the breather. If it is clear then could be worn piston rings. A leakdown test would be in order.
  18. 3 points
I don't think there's any kind of a gasket or seal in that area. I'm not by any means an engine experts but my first thought would be to check the breather element to make sure it is installed properly and clean enough to be able to do its job. If that's not it you may have to get into further diagnosis.

Nick. Don’t bother trying to unscrew that exhaust nipple. I cut a couple slices in the one on my Commando and it comes out real easy after that.

After a day of work I like to sit in the garage put some music on and have a cold one and look at these tractors. I am always amazed how simple these are made, but engineered very well. I have seen many other brands and how they are made but they are not like Wheel Horse. I am not taking away from the other brands but just the engineering or how they where made. Enjoy the site. Just my

First and foremost I would like to give a pure honest wholehearted thank you to anyone who has ever served our country. I am not a veteran of any military or government agency but I do have a great appreciation for the place and the position in the world and time that I live. So ...... Keeping or releasing as much anonymity or identity as you feel comfortable doing... What are the customs or traditions or activities or gatherings that you have been apart of or maybe you're even in charge of? Is it something simple such as I do like hanging a flag? Are you the Grand Marshal of a parade in a city of a hundred thousand? Probably somewhere in between I suppose....

You may want to add some front weight to prevent it from doing wheelies. Got my wife a Suburban several years back and she loved it until it reared up one day, wouldn't get back on it after that.
  28. 2 points
I mow with a Bad Boy zero-turn the reasons should be obvious, manuverability and speed. With all the trees and the wife's flowerbeds, the buildings and other obstacles it just makes sense. I've had zero-turns before I ever got the Wheel Horse bug, I suppose that's another reason I mow with one. I do use one of the Commandos w/ a 36" deck to do the sides of my long driveway mostly because it doesn't kick up the dust and it's a rear discharge which makes it easier to hug the fence posts.

Virtually all of the new Electric PTOs are designed to run a deck on vertical shaft engines and thus are some what the reverse of the WH. The coil is mounted close to the engine on new ones with pulley out board. WH are just the opposite. I have no idea if you could swap coils. I doubt very much you will find anything new that "looks" like original Bearings are not hard to replace.

    I dunno, it just won't be a V-twin. I'm thinking magnum 12 single cylinder.

This should be an interesting project. Are you going to put in a K-341 back in it, or repower it with a Briggs, Honda, or another engine?

Those ‘s sure look good! Dan—Radpferd looks right at home rolling soil and rollin’ coal! That is a sweet tractor for sure. How did he do with the plow? He looks like he wasn’t even breaking a sweat! You’ll have to post a few pics and your thoughts in our plowing thread, if for no other reason than to document it there. Jim—the 1055 looks sweet as well. Sorry I missed the show but Caleb’s state track meet took precedence. We faced similar “liquid sunshine” in Waupun on Saturday for that as well. Thank Cindy for the pictures.

Best solution I have ever used. Chip and dip. Fill a two gallon bucket half full of water. Float some sunflower seeds on the surface. Throw out chipmunk each day. I've caught plenty and my neighbor caught over 50 with this approach.

Yes it does. It works well. I use it for cleaning up a gunky engine and their tune up product is excellent. But it has no effect on ethanol or it's effects on rubber.

For the last 2 years I've been using a Cub Cadet 1650. The K341 on it shakes horribly, and when my grandfather put the engine together on it, I think he put a K301 crank in it, which has different balance weights. Last year when I was mowing with it, it died, and had to hot wire it to get it to start to get back to its parking spot. Not sure what the deal is with it.. It'll run fine for a while without having a hot wire ran to the ignition, but then it'll die and I have to clip on the hot wire, and even then it doesn't run right. Need to pull it apart anyways to fix the vibration and the broken ACR. It cranks extremely hard. When that happened with the Cub last September, it was about 40 minutes until dark and I needed to get finished before it rained. Went and got my dad's C141 that hadn't been run in around 8 years due to a stripped float bowl bolt, slapped a new one on that I found on the internet by accident (the reason it was parked was because we didn't know new carbs were available), had it running almost instantly and got the yard finished before dark. Doing that sparked an interest in a GT-14 that I was given my by grandfather. Started piddling with it, joined here and the rest is history.. I'm a WH guy because a Cub let me down. Since then, I bought a C120 (and corrupted a friend who then got a C160) and have mowed with it twice this season, then the starter died. Not a fan of Tecumseh's anyways so I'm slowly working on a K321 to put on it. Bought a Sears GT 19.9 the other day with a 52 cubic inch Onan on it to mow with at our river property, which is about 9 acres.

If they say 15% take that with a grain of salt.It actually could be much higher.Local fuel distributer here claims our 10% is much higher. If any of you use on road diesel in the north east you know when winter comes fuel mileage drops. They put something like kerosene in the mix to keep it from jelling.Just ask anyone what fuel milage is like on E-85l.If it didn't help big agribiz I don't think we would have grain in the gas.I am all for helping the family farms but I don't think the gov't corn subsidies are the answer.JMHO

They both did well. I had to change the setup on the single and fix an issue on the twin. The twin spit some oil out of the breather right out onto the belt. So I had to change that. Aluminum tube now vents it to the ground. Guess their is a first for everything.
