I just moved into my new house (First House) about a month ago now. I now have 3.1 acres all of my own to do as I wish with and it feels awesome. I figured it was also time to use my C-160 I picked up last year and never used. It needed a good servicing and some little things fixed on it but all in all its in great shape and runs amazing. The 36 and 42" decks I have were not gonna "cut it" so last weekend I was able to score a super clean 48" deck to put on this tractor. I gotta say I am super thrilled with how well this tractor handles the 48" deck. It has done nothing but rain here and the grass was thick and over my ankles. This thing had no problem with it and made it look easy. C-160 Running

I need to clean up the leaves by the mill but before I can get to it I need to process the logs for access. The Horse got the logs here and will move the lumber and slabs. I really don't need the lumber but sometimes nature gives you lemons.

This next one is a rusted sold on the axel and off the key way. Lots of Breakaway. So it will take a few days to keep spraying in the set hole to free up. Then I think I am done with the B80 8. Easy liven in the Summer time.

Finally finished up on my 1067 today got it running actually cut a little grass with it as well. This is a great running a little machine and will be in asset to the herd !! I got out and mowed a little with it today and it performed beautifully! I can’t wait to put the blade on it this fall and push snow. I know it’s still spring but I am thinking ahead !! I dedicated this tractor to my late father which would have loved these red machines .

Ok,need some help from the experts; this has been in my dad's Horse collection for about 30 yrs. His field of expertise ranges from about 1960 on up. What exactly is it and what pieces am I missing beyond the obvious heat shield, belt cover, and recoil? I'm gonna restore it after my 520H and I want to start gathering the missing pieces . I intend to do it cosmetically perfect and as correct as I can. Have at it:

So the weather was perfect, not crazy hot and NOT A SINGLE RAINDROP all day! The show grounds did however have a few muddy spots that the young kids were just tearing up on small tractors. Spent the day hanging with John and Russ @wallfish ... @SALTYWRIGHT ...I dragged three tractors with me so we all had something to cruise on together. It also kept our boots clean ! Real good turnout considering the unstable weather forecast we had during the week. John and I were not in the market for anything so no pressure to find some elusive part. Russ needed a small one gallon metal fuel tank which we scored early on. Wasn’t my birthday or anything like that but John had brought me a WH coffee mug. Russ knows about my flashlight collection habit and brought me the oddest flashlight ever. Hope this flashlight doesn’t get me booted off this forum . John and I discovered a McCormick/ Farmall graveyard...it’s been there for years but Ive never really noticed it before. Here’s a few pics....

Hello everyone, I've been reading the forum for a few months or so and finally decided it was time to say hello. I've had a love for Wheel Horse tractors since I was young and my father had one. I've never really had a need for one until recently when my wife and I bought our first home. So the search began and I found myself a 1995 520H that was in pretty rough shape but everything that was important (engine, hydro) seemed to work. Anyway... The "restoration" has begun and I have to say I'm pretty excited. I'll post some pictures of how it looked when I got it and I'll throw some pictures of what I've done so far over on the restoration side of the forum. Thanks everyone for all the great information! Matt

Well just one more update. These have been a real challenge to make .I don't think anyone has ever reproduced this seat. I had to make a fixture to hold the seat in place and compress the foam so I can glue it to the metal. And I did find a fabricator to make me 20 sets of backs and seats. I got my first 8 sets friday. Now I'm cutting the foam to size and tweaking it before I start to glue it. The metal came out perfect. I should have a completed set by next week but I'm going to make 3 or 4 sets to see if there all coming out the same. Trying to get the foam and vinyl to be tight is a problem Richard and I had on the 1054/953 seats.

Nice rig brother! I could use one of those here! I have five acres of woods and my neighbor has 200 acres of woods with trees up to 3 1/2 diameters. Furniture quality!

@ebinmaine, it's like time has stood still still mowing the same piece of property 40 years later on a different Kohler powered garden tractor.

Wow! Thanks for the info. I paid $40. Had to spend about 15 mins freeing up the steering though. And a couple new bolts. 😁

Did you mic the bore and crank? Ive rebuilt hundreds of the k series engines and from what I’ve seen after 30+ years of service they are worn/out of round and need to be bored and the crank ground. If they are out of spec the same thing will happen. Also check the bottom of the cylinder apron for chips and cracks from when the rod gave way. If so it will need a sleeve or the block trashed. I would mic the center of the bore before proceeding.

Got a chance to do some more work this afternoon. Suffered another "missing mass" problem. Can't find the parking brake lever. Know I have/had it. I know for sure I WILL find it because I ordered another one off ebay. I am positive that when it shows up the first one will instantly appear

I guess "quickly" would be accurate. However the "quickly" entails: use of heat, broken drill bits, trips to the store to buy the correct "easy out" since you broke the correct one on the last tractor, multiple cans of PB Blaster/Liquid Wrench, hubs that defy all attempts to remove, setscrews that were rounded out by a previous owner/repair shop, discussions with a particular parts heritage that turn the air blue in the workshop, the annoying comment from the other half of "Problem dear?" and the often discussed and most problematic "the beloved STEERING WHEEL" Yes, the "putting back together" takes a long time BUT they go back together so easy because you have worked your butt off scrubbing, blasting ,sanding, chasing threads and using new bolts, nuts, cotters and hollow pins. But you do it because in the end you can stand back and say "WELL DONE". And then "Wait till the next one"

Our family has had a rash of deaths this year... I believe between my wife and I we’ve lost 6 family members in as many months. Various ages and causes, but still each one hard in their own way. Today my wife woke me up to tell me that she had to go to the hospital, her great aunt believed that her grandma was having a stroke. She’s currently stable, but is being admitted. Apparently she shows signs of having had a stroke but their still not 100% certain. She’s 69 years old. Later this morning, my FIL will go in to have his prosthesis replaced so that he can eat and talk properly (throat cancer survivor). It’s a routine out patient procedure, but so was the biopsy he he’d years ago that ended in an emergency treachyectomy. Today would’ve also been my father’s 55th birthday. I lost him 15 years ago, and then 55 seemed old, but today when I actually thought “Dad would’ve been 55” my first thought was “That’s still so young.” Today is going to be hard. I ask that today, if you will, please keep me and mine in your thoughts. Thank you all in advance, I wouldn’t have taken the time to ask if I knew you guys wouldn’t pull through for me.

Got hitch installed today. Haven’t hooked it up to anything yet, way to muddy around my house. This thing hasn’t ran in two years, got it going couple of weeks ago,and the more I drive it the better it runs. I loaned it to my son in law to use, he didn’t think it was as cool as I did. Got it back with dead battery, bad gas, rotted fuel line, and multiple mouse nests......spent a good Saturday on it and she’s running like a charm.

Bear Scatt is a rather common sight around my place in the fall, but spring and summer they seem to go to higher elevations. Of course this young fella showed up for a snack in mid summer a couple years ago. Didn't damage the feeder, just had a snack and left. My wife took the photo from the window of her sewing room.

Your tractor does not have one. It’s a simple drain and refill motor. You must have a manual that covers a couple different models??

    I did the same with my 315-8 Nanco/Deestone 23x10.50-12 on 7.5" rims...

I don't think so Mike. I need to dump the buckets and measure and mark the pairs. I'll let you know. You could buy 2-12" sets and build a 16" set.

Yes. My 5 year plan is to get a garage. For now I do have enough shop and storage space to get me threw. I have a full basement with a 54" garage door to ground level. I also have a large 10x20 shed out back. It needs a little cleaning up but its nice and solid. These should do for a few years until I can get the finances in a good spot to have a garage built.

As the saying goes, this thread is worthless without pictures. I, for one, would love to see your Super A. If I didn't have a couple of Cubs, I would love to have a Super A.

Looks like the connector for the ignition key assembly. Anyway, that is a good first house that just needs one other thing--a nice big shop for the C-160 and all the other horses sure to follow.

If you have been lurking around here for a few months then you are probably aware that WHs reproduce on their own. In a few months there will be more of them around your spread. Most of my 520 herd don't look as good as yours and I would not give up on any of them! Welcome to a truly friendly and helpful website.

You can leave the flag on the lift mechanism.I tie it to deck lift with a tie wrap or copper wire.I always encourage this practice on any WH newer than the c120 as it is a royal PITA to get to the lift system on the newer machines.Welcome! Hope you get what you need from the great folks here. They really do like to help!

That would be me! I have the 416 with factory six inch wheels, and 60” deck. Honestly it will turn about 90% until they hit.
