After waking my Raider 12 plow tractor up from it's long winters nap. I was going through it doing PM's when I noticed that the top of the battery was wet. I freaked out a little, thinking that battery acid was chewing on my year old paint job. I started pulling the battery out so that I could get it warrantied when I noticed one little drip of oil hanging off of the back of the hydraulic pump right above the battery. Turns out that it was hydro fluid on top of the battery, not acid. I have never been so happy about finding an oil leak!!

been wanting a sprayer to spray my 3/4 acre yard for some time now .looked at the ones that TSC has but couldn't justify the price . my dad b ought one years ago and for what they are they are cheaply made . my dad got this 35 gallon tank and 2.1 gpm pump from the county hwy. dept. when he retired they decomisioned his old plow truck they used this tank and pump to spray additive onto the salt as it come out the back of truck. he gave it to me couple yrs ago and i finaly built me a sprayer . was in rural king couple week ago and they had a spray boom kit for fifty bucks included boom nozzles hose preasure regulator manafold what a deal that was buy it all seperate for 3 times that amont. I've got about 70 bucks in this setup and it sprays 7 foot swath just as good or better than the 300 dollar ones you buy at TSC.

Good lookin piece! As myself l take alot of pride in every piece of furniture l build. Glad to see its with stood the riggers of raising children. Had a customer awhile back came to me with their old baby bed and he wanted it turned into a bench to sit on. It was a surprise to his wife for Christmas. The catch was l had a little less than three weeks to turn it out. Cut up everything to refit and this is what l come up with

It's not eBay's fault. eBay does not sell or ship, but they are a venue for sellers. Sellers choose who they will use for shipping, usually (at least in my case) the least expensive. Then it is up to the seller to get the item to the shipper. FedEx Smartpost is the worst. The only recourse for buyers is to make a claim to eBay if it doesn't arrive by the date started in the ad. I use eBay all the time and if I do my part by shipping on a timely basis, and use a reliable shipper, my buyers have no problem. Always look at the seller's feedback rating before deciding to buy. Look at the shipping info. See how he's going to ship and look at the guaranteed delivery date. Just my 2 cent's worth.

Hey guys. i need some advice. i just purchased a 1960 wheelhorse suburban 400. I was told by the seller that his father took this tractor in on trade at hit wheelhorse dealership back in the early 70’s. And the owner put this tractor on his showroom floor as a Conversation piece. The seller told me it hasn’t been started since. His father passed a few years ago. The gas tank has zero Oder of gas. The oil is very thin..but clean. The tractor it’s self is in pristine condition. And with my question. i plan on taking it to the local Dealer for service. Oil change, trans hydraulic fluid change , belts and old grease pushed out and fill with new. Should I have them to tear down the engine and put or make new gaskets?

This is some info for stack on rims. After almost a year trying to take off stuck on rims. Using P-B Blaster large rubber mallet time and time again. Also tried numerous pullers nothing. One suggestion was driving with loose bolts turning quickly. I finally found a 8 inch old style craftsman puller. That i added 2 bolts through the rim. I also left 2 loose bolts so everything would not fly apart. Well in a few minutes a very loud pop and rim and tire off. worked

I agree with SPINJIM too. I ask our post master about it. She believes the FEDEX guys get behind and don't want to full with a handful of rural deliveries. They do pay the postage. It does delay delivery. My big deal is we are paying to have it shipped to our door. When they pull these stunts we have to go to the post office and pick up. UPS is the best but does cost the most. I like Priority Mail too. I avoid FEDEX

I have found that Fedex usually delays delivery, especially in rural areas. They have to transfer it to the USPS, and then the Post Office has to process. I ship via USPS only, and get fast delivery at a lower cost than Fedex, especially if I use Priority Mail (often in two days). Fedex seems to go after business-to-business, and I guess they're okay if you're in a big city, but residential delivery seems to be a problem for them, especially when they transfer to the Post Office. I don't understand why ebay sellers use them. Maybe a kickback to the shipping clerk.

Very nice job on that Mustang. I just picked one up last weekend, I used to mow my grandparents lawn back in the late 70’s hope to get to it within the next year

Thank you.It was pretty much all done with hand tools. The only pieces that saw sandpaper were the Afromosia raised panels. That wood is like sand. Cannot really be worked with edge tools unless you want to be sharpening them after each individual pass.Pretty much what I had to do when raising them. You can't see it on photos but the tell tale marks of the hand plane are everywhere. They are really more tactile than visible. I love Soss hinges and use them quite often. I was never too fond of seeing hinge knuckles or barrels when things are closed. Rather have nice clean lines uninterrupted by hardware. They are actually the only metal present in the whole crib. Not even a single screw in it. Its all put together with pinned dovetail tenons and even the door latches are an internal barrel bolt made out of wood. The mattress panel is also adjustable all the way down to bottom rail by a self locking dovetail cleat ( almost like a French cleat) The whole thing comes apart into four flat pieces by removing the wood pins at the dovetailed tenons.

Eric: My suggestions if you have chickens: Don't raise chickens if you run a mink farm. Avoid naming them. It's really hard to eat a chicken named Donna for Sunday dinner. It's only slightly better if it's named Stu. Don't add to it, but change their water everyday. We did this on our farm because they will poop in their bowls and pass intestinal bugs on to the others if they're sick. Now, you are on your own. 🐔🐥🐤🐣 Dave

It is all original and in excellent shape! I did ask about the belt guard and the seller had no idea about it. If any has one for sale I’d be willing to buy it plus a plow and fenders if possible. but after I get it going. Sadly to say to some members. I plan on mowing with it like it was a 2020 Lincoln Navigator !

Not from your area, but if you have an equipment rental company near by you could ask them who services their engines. They won't deal with anyone but the best. Just because it is a vintage tractor doesn't mean a good mechanic can't get it running.

Hi Mark and to I have no hydros here but others will be along soon to help out there. The item you're looking for are easy enough to find. Decals can be made by our own @Vinylguy Terry. Step pieces are available. Someone will share the sources there as well. Good luck and ask questions. Oh and.....

If you don't have an old one to rebuild you could use one of the plastic pumps. If you have one the kit Mike gave you a link to is the way to go, they are an easy rebuild.

Dam FedEx, USPS and UPS. Order two at a time so there is extra for the next build and you don't have wait around for the order to come in.

As mentioned above, check the deck for signs of rust/rot through. If it has a lot of build up under it scrape some off and look underneath. Also ask if it has been stored indoors or covered. Check if the rubber boot on the top of the transmission is in good shape. If the boot is in bad shape/gone and stored out doors there's probable water in the transmission. Also the top of the transmission usually has a fair amount of grass crud built up on them. But if there's semi fresh dirty oil on top around the shifter, that typically indicates theirs enough water in the transmission that it's pushing the floating oil out through the shifter hole. a transmission with water in it can be cleaned up, but it's a major negotiating point.

I’m so glad to have a reminder that I HAVE worked on the bathroom since August. Well, it’s time to redeem myself... err gain brownie points with the big show coming up... I’m doing work inside for a bit. Well, at least until the dew is off the lawn! The ceiling is up now, so I can finish a couple remaining walls, so I can finish the floor, so I can install the vanity that’s been in our dining room for a bit of most of a year. No need to rush this stuff.... unless your name is Richie and you’re supposed to be moving 5 months ago. Love ya man!

That looks like a nice buy for a fair price. If it is well maintained it will provide several more decades of service. I smuggled my 310-8 in from Tennessee a few years ago, similar tractor with a few less HP and smaller wheels.

I loved watching Norm make things. I still watch the old shows on YouTube. Somehow, I suspect Norm used a few more power tools than Cas did on this though! beautiful job on the crib. I like the Soss hinges on the side. I had never used those before until my last build and they are slick. Steve

I'm just down the road in Chattanooga. I have a 414-8 with 970 hours (hour meter is on the console) and it is still running great. That said, I have made many repairs which is expected on an old machine. Repairs are straightforward, this is a simple machine. The deck is usually the first thing that goes (rust through and spindle bearings, check these). I now have 4 horses, a 414-8, 416-8, 418-8 (minus engine) and a 310-8 for parts. You may get addicted like me, be careful. Note - The price looks reasonable, especially with the blade.

This is my 414-8 I purchased a year ago and l have never been disappointed! I put my 48 inch blade on it and wiil not hesitate to push anything!

I wouldn't have them touch the engine with the exception of oil change, cleaning the ignition points and a new spark plug. The dealer probably drained the fuel system and it will probably start right up. If anything leaks they could repair that.

Nothing like the view from the seat of a Blackhood, it doesn't matter the HP, those Model's just look like a much larger tractor.
