C-125 got highjacked today. First by Mathew, number four grandson, enjoying his first time at tractor driving. Then his sister Ashleigh. Again driving for her first time. Being a typical girl, more interested by who's watching than looking where she's going. After a rebuke from granddad to pay attention.

Well we have been super busy and I haven't been on here to see what you guys and gals are up to. Now that snow is officially gone we have been doing yard work in between rain drops. Aiden filled the roller today and rolled most of our yard and most of my parents yard right next door with my 416H. In total about 2 1/2 to 3 acres. He wanted to keep going but the rest of the yards are to wet to get him on them. Maybe in a week or so. Not gonna lie I'm actually jealous of all the seat time he gets.

I get the why do you have so many tractors question all the time. I told one asker so I can leave attachments on one tractor. Aren't these thing supposed to be quick change he says.. that one says tach-a-matic on it? Good thing my wife didn't hear that. That decal needs to come off!

What happened: I replaced fuel lines on my '77 B-80 a couple of weeks ago. I serviced it, and got it ready for mowing also and put it away in the shed. Started it up this past Saturday to do some yard work and it wouldn't stay running, then finally wouldn't run at all. Fuel pump checked ok. So I assumed carb needed cleaning. So yesterday I remove the carb and opened it up to find debris (which I was expecting) in the bowl and needle seat area. On closer examination, I determined it was rubber debris from the new fuel line hoses. What I learned: To flush new fuel line hose before installing. P.S. I got it installed and adjusted and now it runs sweet!

This will be the last update until I get one completed. And I have to find out about the metal backing plates and I still have to order more foam and vinyl . I'll post when I get one done . I tried the new metal frame I made and it works really well. I just have to get the heat,pressure and time required to get a good impression. I think it came out nice so I did 2 seats to compare each other and both were the same. It's just sitting on the foam but I think it will be very nice once it pulled tight on the metal.

Do you have 3/4", 7/8" and 1" open ended wrenches? They make a poor man's caliper for such measurements. Garry

it's a mixed response for me. I collect odd tractors but I also don't hoard junk or projects i will never get to either. I respect the collector, user, owner if they actually use and restore them. the guy that goes to every sale just to buy stuff up and store it til he drops dead gets no respect from me. I got 12 restored tractors and 4 that are being restored. after that no more. it's easy to let your collection get out of hand.

I suspect it's a good thing you wife (or most of ours) wasn't standing by when that question came up!

For the most part, the welding on the belt guard is officially complete! I need to dress the welds and check for flatness, then move on to other components.

Bought this tractor in 1982. The purchase price of $850 included the 48" SD mower, snow plow, snow blower, dump trailer, wheel weights, tire chains, pull behind sweeper, plow shear, brinly cultivator, lawn roller and all manuals and associated paperwork. Still runs great, mows great, and sort of looks great.

I've been around small engines of various types my whole life. When I first got a Wheelhorse 3 years ago I was really not at all familiar with this brand. I had only had one or two Kohlers in my possession over the years. Because of the fact that I am the type of person that really loves to over-analyze things times about 15 and then figure out what I need to do, I did a ton of reading and research and of course have asked all of you folks a million times over. And a lot of other sites. We also have a very good friend who has done a lot of small engine maintenance in the past. The conclusion that I have basically been led to is that most air-cooled small engines should be at 80% to 100% throttle if you are running an Implement of any kind OR if you are running a hydro transmission. All of our tractors are Gear Drive. We have 0 implements at this time. My research has led me to believe .... and I may not be quite right. Don't get me wrong here. ..... My research has led me to believe that a Gear Drive Machine's engine can and should be run somewhere in the 50% to 60% throttle range at bare minimum. 70% to 80% could be considered better by some.

My Dad educates me, that older stuff isn‘t mostly as bad as cheap new Things. It has it‘s reason, while this machines still exists and lasts longer times. Some things are not that good, some things are made for Eternity - with only a bit of Service. Another important thing he educates me was, a Man needs a Hobby. The first Thing is Family, immediately after there shall be your Hobby. It depends on the Person and is different, what kind of Hobby you‘re doing, as long as it brings you satisfaction. Hobby means the smallest ebit with the most Money, but it’s just urgent, that it satisfies you! Some peoples are allway‘s in Bar‘s, others collect Stamps and others collects technical Parts or Machines or whatever. I got my love to older Machines from him, because he loves and collects older heavier machines like an old Lathe, an old impact siccors and such Kind of Stuff. When my father dies about 20years ago, i have no possibility to keep all the machines, because we sold the House. Once it was the space to store i don‘t have further, once it was time i hasn‘t at this Timeline. Now, where i get older, i could cry when i remember, what cool machines i lost in this Times. Not as an memory of my Dad, he is allway‘s still with me on each things i build, but this quality kind of stuff i had in the Past, that maybe never comes back. Today, my hobby and my collection is different, but in basement, it was the same as my Dad did - collecting old Things and bring it back in Service. I‘ll think this is a lovely memory, maybe also to all Fella‘s, they had the same Type of Dad as i had. Thanks Dad, in Memoriam.

Was wondering when things would come to this. I have posted this before but do you think the Pond's but cigar lighters on horses so 60 years later bozos like us could charge our high tech phones with them?!? Can't imagine having GPS on my 857, if I get lost it's on purpose or from the missus!

I don't know that I'll ever have "enough" horses per say. There are some models I'd like to have, but will probably never be able to afford. I get the same looks and questions as the rest of you, but for me I love to take the old abandoned horse, and I have a few "other brands" as well, and get them running and fix them up. To me, that just gives me a lot of satisfaction and joy. I love to go to tractor shows and meet people and talk about tractors and the stories behind them. It's just something that is in my blood now and I don't think I'll ever be able to shake it off! I'm also very fortunate to have a wife that is very understanding of the hobby. My father in law has a collection of 2 cylinder John Deere's so collecting tractors isn't new to her. I guess what it boils down to is that it's something that I love to do and it's no different than most people my age that spend tons of money on video game related things! It's also one of those things where I look forward to getting home from work and going out to the garage to work on these things. Just my

The biggest fear for me in this project (bigger than splitting the tranny!) was screwing up Terry’s big hood decals. I dove in with both feet this morning for a dry install. setting the distance with a market pass 1/2” from the bottom hood edge. Butting the guide tape up to the marker tape Removed the marker tape then wiped down with IPA and blow dry. Wearing nitrile gloves, peel and stick. No bubbles or fuss. Shift plate and seat are all that’s left before putting this project in the books. Happy Easter!

Maybe Dexron 3 wasn't listed in this 1974 manual because it was not created until 1993 ??

I use Dex/Merc Compatible with Dexron3 and earler. no problem in 5 different tractors. Use what ever you want Sundstrand built essentially the same pump/motor for several tractor brands. They all called for different fluids. Hy/Tran JD20 motor oil ATF take your pick.

Every bit as good as the original! Other than being new, I see no difference. You're doing a wonderful job on this. And what you're doing for the hobby is fantastic

1.5 X the thread diameter is a standard rule of thumb that will usually allow a bolt to break at the shank before the threads shear in the tapped hole. Of course many factors will affect the results i.e. material strength, temperature, torque, thread lubrication.

Well slowly starting to get it back together. Test fitting cleaning out paint making sure new bushings fit and move as needed.

I have always made it a habit to flush out the new fuel lines with some carb cleaner. You would be surprised on how many times you find tiny particles of rubber or dust. When your done and have an extra length leftover use a bit of masking tape to cover the ends of the hose before you store them. It keeps them clean for the next time you need it. I tend to buy fuel line and filters in excess. You always need them when the supply store is closed.

BBQ rubs have become a popular thing these days. I got this recipe from my father-in law back in the early 80's. He used it on his BBQ beef, chicken, rabbit, deer, pork, etc. and as a starter for his deer sausage seasoning. For sausage he would fry up a little patty of the ground sausage with this on it, then go to adding a little more of this or that to get the taste he wanted. I missed my opportunity and should have marketed this some years ago. Lester's Season Salt/BBQ Rub 26 oz box salt 2 oz black pepper 2 oz paprika 3-4 tbsp chili powder 1 tbsp onion powder Mix all together & use to season meats. Optional for BBQ Brisket Competition - 4 oz of Adolph's Meat Tenderizer (contains MSG which give a thicker "red smoke ring" that BBQ judges like to see. For BBQ chicken sprinkle a little sugar on them when they are almost done to give them that golden brown coating. Don't put it on to early as sugar will burn black.

Because I don't drink or hang out with the guys. I love old iron and old cars and trucks cost way too much to restore. It keeps me at home with my family and I get great satisfaction from bringing one back. Helps me teach my kids the value of taking care of your things. New is not always better, buy my cars used. Never have to finance a depreciating asset. It boils down to cause I can, and I like them. I mean how can you go wrong when you get a 416h with 48" deck for 240.00? Need a little TLC and a couple of cans of paint. For what most of them pay for the box store mower I can get 8 of my old horses....more is better.
