12 pointsGoing to pick up a load of horses Thursday evening. D160, rj, suburban and c141. Will post pictures when I get them. I’m gonna try an get them all in one load so I am gonna have to use some of @pullstart loading skills. I think I can fit three in the truck and put the d160 on the trailer. 7 pointsToday i spend a visit at Bauma, a construction Fair in Munich. Fellas, there are so much Man-Toy's i love that. just a small ripup of my impressions. visiting also some well known companies to look at their actual Products.

7 pointsSo just plugging along with some of the little things that need done. The pivot pin was made heavy duty so as not to break on the tab. The wheels were sand blasted and painted. I couldn't find the off white I wanted so I went with a white sand. Little creamy but it will do, think it will look ok against the red. Starter gen was painted black, will see how it looks in there. Pic worth thousand words so...

6 pointsHey guys, just dropping in to say hello! Life’s been crazy lately, but I got a new job and am much happier. My 1.5 year old is growing fast and loves to sit on my wheel horse! She points to the shed and says “Dactor?”. It’s great! Anyways, last year I sold my beloved 314-8 to my dad because he wanted something with a bagger. So I took the bagger off my new 312-H and sent it with the 314. So one of the things on his 60th birthday list was a new seat for the WH. I bought the new seat from amazon but it’s the same seat that’s been sold on that tractor surplus parts website for years. Also, I was pleased to find that a new toro mushroom style seat switch will bolt right in to the seat. Then you just put on new connectors. Simple stuff. Anyways here are a few pictures. Dad is looking sheepish in this one because he is out working in the yard a week before being cleared from some surgery he had. He does in fact have a neck, haha.

6 pointsYesterday I decided to mow the green opposite my abode. I do the lane verges and a piece of ground outside next door as well. So the nice rebuilt C-125 was fitted with my recently acquired 36" deck. Things went quite well. Nice and steady round the green as the grass was a tad long. Then onto the verge by the pond too the neighbours frontage. Halfway through and suddenly a horrible clattering and banging noise. Shut down fast and had the horrible thought the engine had gone. Tentatively placed my hand on the flywheel mesh guard to see if the engine would turn. It would and both forward and back. No strange noises either. So lets see if it will restart. Turned the key and nothing. Not even a click. The P.T.O. was disengaged by the way. Tried several times to no avail. Only thing to do was push it home. Back in the yard and off with the deck. Decided to try starting again. No luck at first, but with the bonnet/hood up, and trying the key I had a feel around at the wiring. Nothing until I touched the P.T.O. cut off switch and gave it a wobble. Engine fired and carried on running perfectly. Not frightening noises, just it's normal chuff, chuff, chuff. Diagnosis! Faulty switch so by passed it and all is well. But what was the racket then. Today I refitted the deck. Started the tractor, half revs and engaged the P.T.O. Bang, clatter and bang. Source found. Although the belt looked fine, it was flapping and bouncing like a good 'un. The years sitting in a shed had effected the fabric and the sudden use and an hours work finished it off. BTW. The belt tensioner was nice and free. Not stuck or sticking.

6 pointsThe Red... aside from the whisker hair or pube on the fender pan ..gets covered up by the seat anyway... Dan was scratching himself alot! Absolutely awesome finnish for a GT! Put them in the guest bedroom for safekeeping and curing. This is what the master says and who am I to argue? Belt guard did not come out to his perfection and threatened to beat me over the noggin with it if he could not refinish to his perfection..again who am I to argue? Damn shame his fenders suffered the same. Real bad time to come down with the "runs" when spraying automotive quality red! Pics are not doing justice!

4 pointsOne of the wide rear rims has the holes wobbled out. found a donor this afternoon at then a trip to the farm cut the center out nice and clean with the plasma. I'm going to cut out the gibbled center then weld in the replacement then give the finished rim a rattle can pain job.

4 pointsI have a newly acquired 1010 backhoe, and it’s in dire need of major work. Any slight of the brand on my part is purely for grins and giggles. It’s like Ford, Chevy, Ram. I believe Chevy is the best, because I’m a fan. If the other two were junk indeed, they’d have been out of the game long ago... but they’re not. They’re just not for me.

Be lots of fun ... fish frys, cobbler, tractors galore ...I'll even set you up in a nice condo... it's just geography . Over here tho we don't Sally out and sleep in our campers with them INSIDE the barn! So this mod thread is what.... some twenty some pages long and you is finally getting seat time?!? Sounds like someone is bothering the pooch a little much!

3 pointsI agree 100%...now as far as JD GT the late 70s thru early 90s 15+/- years there was probably their best built most durable units JMO but really at that point in time so was any of the big name manufacturers (Cub Cadet Simplicity ect) even earlier but with the proliferation of the compact and sub compact 4wd utility tractors there really was no need to build $10k GT anymore...

3 pointsI'm basically right there with you by mine set. I've only been around here for a couple years, give or take. It's been great for me so far. Trina and I live so far away from most of you that we've only met just a select few. All of those have been fantastic people. we are planning to be at the meetup that @JCM Jim is holding in September and I'd like very much to get down to Connecticut for @stevebo s in the fall. I think the moderators do a great job over all of trying to maintain a positive air that is as low conflict as possible and I greatly appreciate it.

3 pointsI do not have a helper (human kind) either and i hate stick pick up especially after dropping several ash trees into the yard..sticks galore. Horses to the rescue. Very windy so limited my approaches but could get them in to windrows for easier pick up.

There is one big huge large incredibly important key when trying to do something like this PATIENCE Penetrating fluid of your choice and a hand torch. Heat. Soak. Heat. Soak. Heat. Soak.. tap it a little bit with a hammer one way or the other. Repeat Patience Repeat steps above More patience important to remember that it took 50 or 60 years for these tractors to become Frozen up with rust so it isn't something you can undo in 5 minutes

2 pointsWheel Horse utilized different methods to help control this. There was a hydraulic damper that rode with the idler arm throughout the travel, a pressurized strut that did all the work and didn't utilize the 108035 spring, and a damper that just caught the idler arm at it's reward travel. That last one is what you have. I had the first type mentioned when I got my 2005. I didn't realize what was going on at first but I knew I didn't like it. I'm betting your damper has pooped out and between that and the belt you have this problem. For decades just the spring on the left side worked fine. I would suggest that you remove the damper, make sure all the pulleys are in good shape as well as the spring and then install a new belt. While others will work I always use a Toro OEM belt on the drive. Then I know it will be fine. Once I got my 2005 'converted' back to the good old style set up I love it.
