D200 moving a 18' diameter at the butt log.

Well it’s been intermittently on and off for a while now. But on the 22nd or 23rd, I will start my trek west to Boise ID area. Over the past 1.5 years I culled the collection down to 4 tractors. 3 of them I will personally trailer cross country and the moving company will have responsibility for my C160 which is set up as my mower. Also needed to load onto trailer any flammables, liquids or anything perishable. And valuables or heirlooms simply because I don’t trust people anymore. Needless to say it’s maxing the trailers load capacity. As as I will be on business travel all next week I needed to get my trailer ready this weekend. Its about a 4 day trip, ~ 2800 miles. it will be kinda nice not to have to deal with stresses of work for a few days though:-) The Horse Haulling set up is finally going to earn its keep: i think I may quadruple the number of wheel horses in Idaho:-) Here is the worker which has very few hours since Fireman (in CT) restored it. After 6 months sitting all winter, it fired right up.

Picked up this little dump cart about a year ago and just got around to painting it. Not sure who made it as there was nothing to identify it under all the rust. With some red paint and some decals purchased on Ebay...... its a Wheel Horse of Course !

I had the most vivid dream of someone pointing out two Roper lawn tractors last night, one with a brand new FEL... in my mom’s basement cellar. Sometimes waking up just isn’t right. As soon as my alarm went off, I knew I let two more creations slip away...

I turned 76 on April 3ed and realized that I had never bought a brand new mower in my entire life. I figure everyone should have at least one new mower in their lifetime.

You ain't kidd'n. Never use a wheel borrow anymore and it does all the lifting chores. The wife gets angry sometimes because she wants a new hole dug for a little plant or something. Out comes the hoe, no matter how small of a hole the minimum is 10 inches wide! (size of the bucket) I stopped using a shovel too.

My mud has become dehydrated lately, I may have to water it soon.

Hi! At first i must excus me for not represent myself directly. but it has a reason, i had 2 wheel horses c125 When i discovered your site .. than sold them an didnt expect to buy another.. til a few weeks ago i found a 416-8in pretty good shape They really are hard to find here and price is about double as in the us i guess 😁 for the rest i am 30y i work as a trickdriver/mechanic and like to spend my tile building things or in the woods.. The plan with the wheelhorse is to use it for my yard and to pull things.. also i have wached many mudmower movies and that inspires me , so i want to make a mud tractor A combination of a mudmower and a still usefull and lovely tool here are some pics I have allready maked a tractor exhaust from a ( obviously) american harley, changed the tires and repainted the hhood and added soms underhoods extras 😇 @the moderators : for the rest of the mower do i need to put it here or is there another subforum to share my pics and..?

@buckrancher and @Herder Here's the combination of Brian and Jo's tractor and Adam's generosity in helping me find this grader blade. You folks just would not believe how much fun she's having. Out here driving around on the tractor and smiling and moving dirt.

Let me first start with saying I’m not trying to bash anyone or any company. With that said, most if not all, Kohler parts are being manufactured in Taiwan. Some are good and some not so much. I had a person who procured parts, a rod to be specific, from an after market company. (I won’t mention the name because of liability issues however, it’s been mentioned several times on this forum as a place to procure aftermarket Kohler parts). The rod was off by .0004 making it from the start at the maximum wear limit. Lesson to be learned here is this. You can’t rely on the tolerances from the overseas companies to be correct. The work around to the issue is the get with your machine shop and have them mic the block and crank and tell you the parts you need. Order the parts. Once you get the parts take them to the machine shop and have them fitted. They can tweak any tolerance issues. The quality of the aluminum that is utilized in the manufacturing of the overseas parts maybe something left for another day or another post. At the end of the day what can we do? Short of buying NOS Kohler parts, which are getting very hard to find, we are left with dealing with what we have. Measure twice, turn or bore once and hopefully the metallurgy will be up to the task.

The tubing fix works great on top of seat springs and under the seat to lift the seat pan off of the fenders. Seat springs do wear with time and settle lower.

Finished cleaning the he frame, engine, and trans today. Put a good coat of black before I quit to burn brush.

I know its not a wheel horse, but it is technically still a Horse... Will look good sittin next to my 314-8

Trina's 867 has been sitting in the cellar for a few months because we haven't been taking the time to work on it. Today we did a few things to it and got it back up and running. The fuel tank that was on it was quite full of rust and scale so I took the tank off of the 1267 and changed the fuel lines and filter over as well. Also, we had done a 6 speed transmission flush with diesel fuel a few months ago so today we finished draining that out and Trina and I latched onto the front axle of the tractor and lifted it off the ground about 25 or 30 inches to drain out the front of the transmission as well as the back. I then added two quarts of nice fresh gear oil. After all that was said and done we put the mid-mount grader blade on.

Never thought I’d own a full detailed wheel horse toy to this caliber . I’d have to thank Eston Hoffman for the build . His attention to detail is out of this world. This is serial #2 out of 10 made . Case is all led lights .

Picked up a rough 1990 312-H this weekend off Facebook. Mechanically it's sound. Starts Right up, Runs Strong, Mower deck has some swiss cheese going on but seems to mow alright. The hydraulics are starting to leak but that's to be expected. Not sure if it's a hose or the cylinder yet. There are somethings that need to be corrected such as the muffler is mounted wrong. It's vertical instead of Horizontal. That's a easy fix, except they cut the hood!! UGH!! The bigger issue and where I'm going to need help from the experts around here is the wiring. I hate wiring. With a very strong passion. The Key Switch went out, so instead of ordering a correct one, he ordered one from Amazon.com that said it fit wheel horse along with tons of other models. Needless to say, now they key is useless, the plastic connector for the key switch is gone - it's just wires with cheap crimp connectors. Toro has the Plug available so that's easy. However finding out what's supposed to be where is going to be the 'fun' part. I'm also not sure what else he's done. to start it you jump the solenoid, to shut it off use the choke. Any ideas what to check for? There isn't anything obviously rigged. It's also missing the correct Air Filter assembly. It just has a filter no shrouds or housing. I'll need to track that down at some point. For now I stole parts from a different style off the shelf. Pictures!

Shoot, we may not be done with snow yet. I have seen some Robins, and a Cardinal was singing outside the window this morning. The grass is showing signs of waking up, but is surly not that nice green like you have. I am seeing buds on the Maples. The signs are there...a few warm days and some spring rain, and we should be off and running. I would bet, it would be another 4 weeks before I have to start driving the horse in circles.

Be careful using heavier viscosity oils than what they recommend for any transmission or drivetrain part that uses needle bearings on shafts. The gear oil required is 80/90wt for a reason - to lubricate the internal needle bearings. Heavier oil will not penetrate as easily into those bearings and can cause premature wear or failure. The same issue can arise from heavier oil in relation to shift fork rails and detent balls - resulting in shift rails getting stuck or acting quite sticky. Personally, I'd almost prefer to 75/90wt synthetic oil in these things to further help penetrate the small tolerances in those needle bearings and shift rails to prevent wear and any further damage. While the tolerances aren't exactly super tight in these transmissions - it is necessary to keep all those parts well lubricated. Just a tip, not a lecture. Sarge

I fully agree.. On the 1010 and2010 series there were tranny problems. The tranny's were well known for knocking gears out. Don't be surprised if the hydraulic pump has issues as well. The ag tractors were made for small "gentlemen" farmers ie; people w/5 acres and 2 horses. I think just so they could say they have a tractor. They were actually a pretty good PTO tractor (for an elevator or auger) . When the 2510 came out? There were a lot of the problems addressed and somewhat fixed. If you can get it cheap enough and need one ? Or, want one? Then fixing it might not be too bad. Fortunately, Much like our WH's? JD, still has parts available. But, as the saying goes. JD? Green like money. I really hope you can just put fresh gas in her? Fire her up ? And put her to work. You don't need all them extra gears to dig a hole . Don't think it is going to be a money maker (resale). Unless you have a serious collector, that really wants one of those? With the inherent issues they have makes them low priced. Good Luck.......

Hahahahahaha. I do I do. I hadn't had any implements on a horse until this past snow season. All my past dirt moving and realignment was done by hand. She loves to run the grader... Driving around and "doing something" other than just pulling trailers.

It was the Vintage Sports Car Club Scottish trial today near Biggar, South Lanarkshire. Myself and a mate who I go marshalling at various motor events went up to help. Up at 4-30am, left at 5am and drove over to my mates for 6am arriving at the signing on at 7-am. No-one there and it turned out we were an hour early. Some one got an earwigging. I could have had an extra hour in bed. After signing on and a free breakfast of bacon rolls and coffee we drove off to our first section. The VSCC trials are hill climb events, mainly in forests and unsurfaced tracks. I did take my camera and managed to take 4 photo's before the battery went flat. The photo's don't really show the steepness of the hill, so you'll just have to accept my word that it was very steep. 45 degrees towards the top. Bad enough walking up and down it. Only about 10 out of the 51 entered made it to the 25 marker. Then had to reverse down.

I may get flamed for this but just grind off the heads of the screws.Once the cover is removed you can remove the tinnerman nut with a screwdriver or pliers. To me life is to short to spend hours with a $0.50 part.

Been working on the free 48" deck scraped and brushed the rust, knock out a few dents and put a coat of Agriguard on it. We will see how well it holds up. It's some tough stuff. I had the gallon open twice the third time I had to pry the lid up and roll it off like a sarden can. I bought three quart cans taped up the tops and filled the cans. Put the rest in a plastic quart can, just pant the top rim before putting on the plastic top. I have painted three decks and still have about half pint left in the plastic can.

Here's a couple shots of the driveway after she had covered most of the surface. It's a little tough to make out but there's kind of a mound of dirt just to the lower left of that big rock. She was cutting into that mound and spreading it over into the driveway. So you know.... I'm watching her do this. I took a couple pictures. We're trying to experiment with this and learn and I was throwing some rocks out of the driveway that she was digging up. I couldn't help it. I had to go get Cinnamon. I had to join in the fun.

Mike I'll have to check. It's comfy. Used it for a hour or so earlier to mow before the rain hit and it was one of the better seats. I've never minded the elbow grease. Just having to start it the ghetto way, and use a choke to shut it off is lame!

Okay thank you to each yes it has an 8 horse kohler horizonal 3 speed forward 1 reverse. Have not drained any fluid yet waiting till I determined where to refill and how much. I have the parts manual with part numbers and in exploded view I could only see a place to drain and 1 possible place for refilling. I had considered to remove one of those bolts to see if would allow to view in case, had not thought about shifter hole. I would suppose then most of all the old square hoods use the same method for refilling.

Decided that since temps hit 50 and even though there is still over a foot of snow in some places I would take a stand against winter and Murphy and wash the winter salt off my snow blowing machine. Figured as long as I was at it, wash the mower. Before and after...not totally obvious in pics but it did make a difference.
