Finally broke down and bought not one but two pickups today. Went to see a friend of mine this weekend and he had this super nice 94 F150 he took in on trade...fuel pump is out but that's a simple fix...wanted $1200 for it. But knowing I wouldnt be happy with a half ton as my only rig, I also looked at an 88 GMC one ton he has had for a while...finally talked him down to $800 on it. Pondered it for the last couple days and finally decided what the heck just buy em both. The F150 has the Eddie Bauer package and is really clean inside and out for a 25 yr old truck. Has the 351 and automatic transmission. The old GMC isnt near as nice, but will make a good work truck with the 454 and 4 speed

Well today was interesting, I went to work at 7am and by noon my lunch came around and walked outside and there was a trailer with some tractors on it. I guess it doesnt get any easier then that.

You have steel bolts and aluminum block. Different rates of expansion. I see more broken bolts in AL than steel or iron. The threads gall and seize up more than a rust issue. Only thing I've ever seen worse is stainless steel.

The only damage will be to your chin when it bounces off the steering wheel. When you pop the clutch in high/third sound your back up beeper and hang on.

Afternoon Gentlemen. Good news. I found a K341 nearby. It turns over, looks original, and is complete minus the carb. It most likely has a stuck valve. I’ll pick it up tomorrow for $225. I’m still taking my old motor to the machine shop. If it’s salvageable, I’ll rebuild it and shelve this other one for a rainy day. Thanks for the condolences.😂. And the moral support. Mark

If you feel any resistance, start soaking with PB, it may take days. If any bolt holes are open on the back side, spray PB there as well.

We put a metal shingle roof on our old house, from American Metal Roofs in Charlotte, MI. They were similar to a 3 in 1, interlocked all 4 sides and with the underlayment we installed, it was virtually wind and water proof. We had a 3/12 pitch and blew heavy insulation and improved ventilation in the attic while we were up there. Last spring I put a barn style metal roof on a garage for a guy, it went well considering I did it myself and had to wrestle 14’ x 3’ panels. Either way, when my house or barns need another roof, I’ll find a way to avoid asphalt at any cost.

The reason the other hub came off easily was the keyway in the hub was in bad shape as was the axle keyway. Since is a rainy miserable day I have been making a brass woodruff key. Actually found a piece of brass stock in metal pile no idea where it came from. See if i can weld then grind as well As ED Kennell when he did this.

I HATE HUBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 48 hours of soaking (3 different magic juices). Used the air chisel with a flat tip (worked well on two exhaust nipples) Propane torch, ran the battery down on my dewalt had to get out the old IR231 finally started to move.

They have a 30 year warranty. I meant to mention insurance, there were no negative effects, however we did raise our amount to allow for solar panel replacement if something happened and we need to file a claim.

I bought a 1/4" electric drill with circular saw attachment when I was fifteen (yes, electricity did exist back then). Don't remember the brand but the circular saw wouldn't cut anything but balsa wood!

@DET, you said you figured total payback is looking like 7 years, but what’s the estimated life of the panel you have? @Ed Kennell, @pullstart I’ve seen some interesting “finishes” if you will, it’s something I’m going to consider, once I double check it’s allowable. If I don’t check I’ll be the one person to get cited for it 😂

I put a new shingle roof on about 7 years ago for 6K, the best quote for metal was 11K. Last year I put a new metal roof on my mothers house for 4K. the cheapest shingle quote was 5.5K. So metal has become more competitive, probably the labor factor. I'm sure it is more expensive, but I believe there are metal roofs that have a shingle appearance.

I know very little about solar, but I would never use shingles again. Had a metal roof put on a few years ago and love it....

I have been researching them for a while and fine them very interesting. The cost between them and an equivalent capacity stand alone panel array is comparable. Personally I would lean towards protecting my house with traditional roofing and a separate photovoltaic system away from the house. If conditions were such that it would have to be on the roof I would use panels rather than shingles. Just my . Sorry, I really can't give you any advice on the shingles due to lack of first hand experience but if you go that route keep us posted.

Last time I checked my K482 - 50psi at full throttle, around 25psi at idle. Pretty happy with that, well within original specifications. Sarge

Running down hydro leaks on my primary snow horse. New hose and new control vlave seals form Wheelhorseman. Now to the pump. Motion control leaking. One axle seal was seeping hardly enouogh to bother with but as long as she is off snow duty. Decided to pull the hubs...Absolutely one of my favorite passtimes...NOT!!! Do not believe the hubs have been disturbed since 1969...
