11 pointsA chap I've recently got to know, who's just moved up here, has quite a collection of vintage motorcycles. Nothing more modern than 1938. Somewhere around twenty I think. Just four below. 500cc BSA Sloper. 1920's Levis. 350cc BSA . 500cc BSA Blue Star.

11 pointsAs y’all can imagine this has not been a very wonderful week for our family. However, with everything that happened on Wednesday morning we do know this...guardian angels exists, God has a plan for this family, and we are blessed to have a strong support system. Yesterday was very eventful for Scottie from the time we started at 330 am to about 900 pm. He woke up in pain which was due to his bowels and not being able to pass gas. They ended up putting in the NG tube to help with the gas issues and draining of the contents of his stomach. In addition to that the ortho team wanted the NG tube placed in before surgery so he can go back to NPO status. The medical team was able to control his nausea and we are happy he don’t feel sick to the stomach. He had his surgery on his elbow in the afternoon and he came back with a plate and 11 screws on the outer side of the elbow. This hardware will stay there unless it gives him issues and then it can be removed. When he come out of surgery yesterday he had visitors here from the Andrews family, Kevin Steinbauer, and his friend Jordan Klecker and his mom. But while he was in surgery his grandparents were here. Scottie’s labs are continually being drawn and the medical team is concerned about his hemoglobin as it is dropping (0.4) but the team is thinking that it is from his lacerated liver and kidney. They are continuing to monitor his levels. We did find out yesterday that he will not need to have surgery on his pelvis area but we are not too sure about his clavicle and collarbone as of yet. So what are we going to do today, today we will be starting therapy, will be moving to the pediatric floor, having visitors, resting when we can, and staying on top of the pain for him. So how is Bryan doing? Bryan started going back to school on Thursday, continues to drive to school each day, does feel guilty about the accident, has talked to people at school, and he comes up to visit Scottie when Travis comes over. Tonight, Travis and his girlfriend Sierra are going to Mankato and they are taking Bryan with them. Lowell and I are staying strong. While I stay at the hospital with Scottie, Lowell travels back and forth so he can rest comfortably in our home and continually be strong for our family. Without Lyn Ransom Andrews and Kevin Steinbauer coming up daily or texting me, this would truly be very overwhelming for Lowell and myself. When it come to those two families God blessed us for sure. So thank you Lyn and Mark for everything and thank you Kevin for just being there for Scottie! I can not begin to express how Lowell and I are all touched by everyone. All we can say is thank you and may God Bless you!

9 pointsalways liked the vintage board track racers of the teens and twenties, I have been slowly accumulating parts to build one replica indian. I put this together one weekend awhile ago, it's called being bored with a welder and a bunch of scrap parts, it got alot of attention pedaling it around town
-
9 pointsBryan, Scottie, and family, as promised, we prayed for you tonight at our teen Christmas party... I asked the teens to keep the boys in their personal prayers as well. Please keep us updated Lowell...we REALLY CARE how you all are doing

6 pointsI just got done unloading these two rough looking horses. The one is a 1067 by the tag not sure on the other. Ser# 48927. Looks like someone added a few inches to the hood for some reason. They are a little rough but was told the 10 horse tekky does run . And yes the motor is hanging to one side by a bolt!!

6 pointsI recently purchase a parts gt workhorse from a guy in the next town over. He threw this in with the deal. It’s a piece of advertising for Coias implement sales in ravenna Ohio, which is still in operation. It’s a yard stick with the different brands that they sell, one of them being wheel horse. My intention is to go over and find out around what year they gave these out. I live in the same town as Coias. Ironically my free 314-8 was sold by them new in 1993 to a friend of mine. Fuel pump went out and it sat in his barn dead for 7 year before he gave it to me with the deck, plow and an extra set of blades. I’ll post pictures of that after I get it back together. The pics of the yard stick aren’t the best but it’s still pretty neat.

5 pointsHi i just wanted to say hi and show my tractor off she is not very pretty atm but i will make transfer her into a nice machine
-
5 pointsGot a couple more days without any "honey-do's" so I got to spend some time working on the tractor. I've always said the trying to get all the parts together for a rebuild was like a "scavenger hunt" which at times can be a challenge. But trying to remember where I put those parts can be an even more frustrating challenge because they have to be somewhere within the 24' x 24' space that is my workshop. Then again I am the kind of guy that can lay a tool down, take two steps away from it and spend 20 minutes trying to find where I put it. AAAAARRRRGGGG!!!!
-
5 pointsThanks to a giant (height and heart) for allowing us a visit today! The kids have been packed in the Colorado for a few days, but we made it to Miami! The Allure Of The Seas awaits us... tomorrow! thanks again, @19richie66!

5 pointsProgress on this has been slow the last few weeks, I finished the linkages for the brake pedals, replaced the front wheel bushings with bearings and mounted those tires. My tie rods were shot so I picked up a new set from Lowell, I also added a front support bushing to the lower steering shaft and replaced the bushing in the rear lower steering shaft support. I cut the Tecumseh gas tank bracket apart and adapted it to fit the Kohler, got most of the bodywork done on the fender pan and have been working on mounting this seat pan. Hopefully in the next week or so I'll be able to take the seat pan to have new cushions made. The recoil on the K181 needed several new pieces to get it back into shape, boy I wish I knew the trick to rewinding that spring and getting that thing put back together. That was a chore.
-
5 pointsFinished up my new front wheel weights yesterday and the front rims for my 1056!
-
5 pointsC195! Love mine and dad has had one since around 1990! And I only wish I had rear pto. Three point is a great tool. Although implements aren't cheap for category 0
-
3 pointsGot this weight couple years ago and I wonder if anyone ever see one mounted on a tractor. I've seen plenty mounted on the front but this is for a lawn ranger series under the seat.
-
3 pointsThe GT-14 was the top of the line at the time. It uses the Sundstrand transaxle, but it is the hydrogear rather than the later piston to piston. If the trans is in good operating condition you have nothing to fear, they are tough as nails as long as they have been maintained and not excessively abused. Mine has a FEL, wheel weights, liquid filled tires and a home made weight box, it is unstoppable! The hydraulic lift has good down pressure.

3 pointsIt was my pleasure @pullstart Kevin. Beautiful family you got there. Nice to meet Mrs Pullstart and the girls. I am glad the girls liked thier cups. Should have yours and the Mrs done soon. Crazy around here.
-
3 pointsGot these in the mail today. Installation attempt tomorrow.
-
3 pointsThat motor has been into before. The hole on the rod indicates it is over sized to accommodate a crank pin regrind. When the oil ring was installed, it was stressed causing it to break. Indicative of an amateur rebuild. Imo, everything should be speced out on that motor before re-rebuilding it
-
3 pointsI'll put up more as I get them. Can't really get good photo's were they are kept. BTW. They're all mostly runners and he doesn't restore.
-
3 pointsI love my 857. I mow with it every week in the summer and push snow in the winter. The K181 runs amazing and does not lose a drop of oil.
-
3 pointsThis is good advice, exactly how things are done in most body shops today and the metal today is very thin compared to what we are working on. Most people use the word Bondo instead of auto body filler. Use a good quality light weight auto body filler and you won't have any problems with moisture or cracking. Randy
-
3 pointsbondo got a reputation from folks piling it on inches thick. I redid a 65 mustang many years ago that must have 3 gallons of mud all over it. not 1 dent was popped out, every one was just filled over. I guess that's why there is a picture of one on the can.

3 points@Al C. the heart of the decision really depends on what you want to do with the machine. All are really capable tractors, Sundstrand hydros in the two blackhoods and an Eaton 1100 in the 520. We could argue all day about the Kohler vs Onan but both engines have their pros and cons. If in good running order either would serve you well. You mentioned about adding to your collection...are you looking to use the tractor for a specific purpose or just own it because you can? All three are solid working tractors as proven by the members of this site that use their model you have listed. However, from a purely collectible standpoint...the Super C stands taller than the other two. I’ve read on here that of the three production years, they only made about 6-700 of them. The fact that they are rare makes them collectible and they have some unique features for sure like dual hydraulics, optional rear PTO and three point. One thing to contemplate though if you don’t have much storage space...they are BIG garden tractors. There is a reason why we lovingly call them Supers! The 520HC is an elusive workhorse model with much more readily available attachments than the Super C. If you plan to work it regularly I would lean to the HC. It, as was mentioned above, has a simpler design than the regular 520’s without all the extras and includes faster gearing in the rear. @Coulter Caleb has the 418C which is the predecessor to the 520HC. It is fast and stout-great working horse. We have used it for a variety of tasks and it is up to it! We will see what the future brings as far as collectibility on the 520HC. The 175 is a solid tractor for sure but depending on your part of the country should be much more available than the other two. If your heart is set on it, I would watch for one with a better price point or offer the seller less. My Vote: Super C

3 pointsMy Prayers would be are bit stronger and deeper, because i survived same Crash. Only diff was, the Impact was on Driver side and i was the Driver. Physican injuries was not the stronges Problem after. Movie running again in my head, i wanna forget, but i can't. Especially while see those Pics, memory refreshes in fract. seconds. Not a nice memory , because of this experience i pray for Scotty, but even for Bryan. Scotty has it's massive injuries, but Bryan has maybe same invisibe injuries, based on the experience i made, wich nobody shall made anytime in Life. Trust me, i know where i talking about, 27 Years i took my ghost deep inside me and nobody can help me, loosing that till now. It was allways painful to me, see such a crash, my memory starts some weired things and strong Pain comes up. Thats the reason i Pray for both an find it's necessary to help also Bryan, even if you don't see any injuries on body, I'll be close to both in my mind, pray for them and send get well Wishes and positive Prayers to both, Scotty and Bryan. Amen
-
3 pointsWell took sometime off on rebuild to go look at and of course bring another one home.
-
3 pointsSuper C for me...only cause I'm heavy on 520's ..some one say 3 point?!?!
-
3 pointsI'd have to put in another vote for the Super C. Big tires. That's kind of cool. But the 3 point hitch... Yeah well... It's a three point hitch. I mean really. You gotta have a three point hitch. I don't. I wish I did.
-
2 pointsYes, "Bondo" is the "Kleenex" of facial tissues. It's just a widely recognized name of many "two-part polyester resin" brands. It is not a replacement for skills with a hammer & dolly.
-
2 pointsNo problem. Please give me till after the new year. Got a lot going on right now.
-
2 pointsYou won’t regret it! Richie does top notch work and the cups have great functional quality too!

2 pointsYah that's an ugly one Crib... I already gave the big prize monies to @Chris G but could see a consolation prize coming your way!
-
2 points@wheelhorseman glad to hear, scottie is so far up and responsible. Best wishes and Prayers again for a quick healin. I feel with him, so i sending painfree sleep for a quick convalescent. But please also take care and an eye about Bryan, even if it looks - he's just guilty but everything shall be fine. Trust me, the happen in himself will still do its work and he maybe cannot grasp now, what's happen inside. I cannot put in words, what i have feelin, but it seems to be a protection issue of mankind that we try to repress such issues inside. It cannot be repressed, not along time. It grows still inside you, then you got your own ghost. You cannot imagine, what such an impression will done with you along the time. I will pray also for Bryan, that he can get his freedom in mind and prevent his own Ghost like i have. To all of you and your supporter, my prayers will gone, in this hardly Time.

2 pointsSeriously.... I get my favorite Small engine repair place to do it. I'll tackle most anything because we want to learn how to. Recoil reconstruction and reloading is probably the shortest trip to insanity for most normal humans. Making good progress there Denny.... Slow but sure is perfectly fine.

2 pointsCards on the way, Lowell. Glad to hear he's being taken care of in Rochester - those folks don't mess around and are certainly some of the best on the planet. Do both boys have any special, off-the-wall interests that can motivate them in a positive direction? Hobbies, interests, things they like? Small stuff pays big dividends in the end when recovering - that period when you're stuck either at home or in a hospital creates boredom that can do damage. Giving them both something else to focus upon and enjoy would be a big help. When I got hurt at work there was a long period between surgeries and therapy where I was stuck at home and really couldn't do much more than sit - it drove me nuts. It got so bad at times I sat outside in a lawn chair with my legs propped up on a bucket and watched the world go by, or spent some time feeding flies to a spider by the back door. For a highly active person to be stuck with restrictions to movement, it is hard on a person's soul. Just an idea to help with the long road to recovery - the long-term effects of that alone can change a person quite a lot. Sarge

2 pointsWhat an awesome group of people you are! The outpouring of support here is something special. I don’t know the people involved in this personally and nor do many yet, they share words of encouragement. Great to know there’s still people that care and I thank you for being those people.

2 pointsAxles & brake shaft is a SKF 9815 Input is a SKF 7410. Any NAPA will be able to get them. They are properly called seals. If you go to the index in transmissions you will find a pinned thread that Stevasaurus graciously made up with bearing/seal charts for the popular transmissions. The second one lists the parts for a 5025.

2 pointsIt’s on here in various spots however... Might as well add it to this vintage truck thread as well. This was a chilly start to the last day that I drove it this fall. About 35 degrees out and I took my two youngest to school in it... They love riding in the ol’ Goat! I’ve owned it for 20 years. Restored it with my dad and (then fiancé) Kelli. We brought home all four kids from the hospital after their birth in it. Kinda like a member of the family. I can’t wait for the day that I get to ride shotgun as each one of them as earned the right to drive it! The legacy lives on!
