13 pointsHere’s the latest update on Scottie..we started our day today at 330 in a lot of pain because the medical teams are trying to get his bowels moving. He is unable to pass gas and unable to have a bowel movement. He has only 400 ml of liquid in him and he is complaining of being nauseated. The medical team was talking about putting the NG tube back in to help with his discomfort in his stomach. The NG tube will be placed back in to help drain the contents of his stomach and to allow the gas to escape. We are still waiting to hear from them on that. Scottie did receive some Zofran for his nauseation and it seems to be working. On the positive side surgery is still scheduled for today on his elbow. Will keep you posted!

10 pointsI'm sorry to hear about this but glad to hear things seem to be on the mend. I live in Rochester so if you need anything (hot shower, home cooked meal etc) feel free to reach out. I'm only a few minutes (8-10 depending on lights and traffic) from the hospital.
-
8 pointsWell took sometime off on rebuild to go look at and of course bring another one home.
-
8 pointsHad to get up early this morning and my wife was still in bed. I did not realize that the "lights" were on. I too had the volume all the way up and the cursor hit a bulb. From back in the bedroom I hear a sleepy voice ask "what did you break?" I replied, "just a light bulb dear, go back to sleep".
-
8 pointsI remember the first time these appeared on red square and I had the volume way up on my computer. Let's just say when I broke my first bulb it nearly sent me flying out the window. Scared the crap out of me lol

7 pointsSeems Lowell's @wheelhorsemanboys were on their way to school yesterday when the car hit some black ice and hit a tree. Boys are in pretty rough shape and need our prayers. Hopefully their young age will afford a speedy recovery. Prayers please for Lowell, Joette, Scott and Brian and all of his family.

5 pointsI recently purchase a parts gt workhorse from a guy in the next town over. He threw this in with the deal. It’s a piece of advertising for Coias implement sales in ravenna Ohio, which is still in operation. It’s a yard stick with the different brands that they sell, one of them being wheel horse. My intention is to go over and find out around what year they gave these out. I live in the same town as Coias. Ironically my free 314-8 was sold by them new in 1993 to a friend of mine. Fuel pump went out and it sat in his barn dead for 7 year before he gave it to me with the deck, plow and an extra set of blades. I’ll post pictures of that after I get it back together. The pics of the yard stick aren’t the best but it’s still pretty neat.

5 pointsNo Deere for me unless it has horns on it and I can eat some meat from it I hate to throw cold water on this, but a 520-HC doesn't have the gear reduction steering. That wasn't used until 91. A 520-HC was made between 88 and 89 eric j

5 pointsI'd have to put in another vote for the Super C. Big tires. That's kind of cool. But the 3 point hitch... Yeah well... It's a three point hitch. I mean really. You gotta have a three point hitch. I don't. I wish I did.

5 pointsGot the refurbished dash in and the air cleaner & reg cover powder coated chrome. Will be powder coating the engine tin red and the starter belt cover is going chrome. If I'm not happy with look I will redo it next winter.

5 pointsI am liking the lights, it brings me back to my childhood. My grandfather had those large X-mas lights in a pine tree outside in the yard. After much practice with the BB gun I was able get all of them. Pop did not approve.

5 pointsPrayers for Lowell and his special family. Holy Spirit send your healing grace to each of them. Heal Scott and make him whole. Wrap Bryan in you comforting arms and vanish any guilt that he has for his brothers injuries. Instill your Agape love for these youth in Jesus Christ name we pray. Amen

4 pointsWow, Thank god he is alright and sounds like he's making progress. I pray he continues in a positive direction of recovery. Also I pray the burden your other boy is feeling will be lifted as well. Sometimes the survivors guilt i believe they call it, can weigh heavier then physical injuries. But you are all I'm my families prayers and thoughts.

4 pointsLowell, thank you for the updates. We as a family are praying for Scottie, Bryan and the rest of your family. Tonight we have a teen Christmas party at our church...Scottie and Bryan’s names will be on the wall for prayer. Please encourage Bryan for me. I had an instance early in my career as a framing contractor that could’ve taken the life of my dad. We were trying to raise a garage wall that was too heavy for the manpower that we had. I was only about 25 years old at the time and dad was around 50. Long story short, we got the wall to a point and couldn’t lift it any further, then it came back down. The three of us made it safely out but dad who was there to help got crushed underneath. It tore up his ankle really bad. Lots of soft tissue damage and broken bones. I remember how bad I felt at the hospital and in the upcoming weeks. My grandfather was there and he spoke some words of wisdom to me, “Son, you need to stop beating yourself up. This life is dangerous and unfortunately accidents happen. If there were wrong decisions that you made which caused this accident, learn from it and plot a different course of action next time. There will be times where accidents happen that are really no one’s fault but you have to keep putting one foot in front of the other and forging on. God protected your dad from it being any worse, be thankful for that. The best thing you can do for your dad now is to pray for his healing, handle any of his physical responsibilities you can, and know that he still loves you very much.” I can’t tell you how much that encouraged me and challenged me at a point when I really needed it. I hope that it will be an encouragement to Bryan. In spite of his injuries listed in your first post, God’s hand of protection was definitely on Scottie. Makes me think of the verse... “For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace...”

4 pointsThat's a great deal. here is the 312-8 I got for $500 with 473 hours, no cleaning nessary. Botho great deals in my opion.

4 pointsJeremy did a good job assembling the differential, he likes being in the shop I recently picked up two 8 speed transmissions for parts, but not sure which exact model they are. I agree with @stevasaurus recommendation to replace the cluster gear, I've been going through transmission manuals and have learned the cluster gear is the same part # 3425 and used in every Wheelhorse 3,4,6,8 speed transmissions. It's of course not used in the peerless models. So in the process of pulling the 8 speed open for parts, i will probable open both of them up and choose the best parts to make one strong " Worker 8 speed" and the next best cluster gear for the 552. I'll also compare the input and shift gears to see which are best. so as always, this project just got a little bigger. Note, Steve mentioned it looked like I had some fragments of old bearing still in the case. Those are the bearing cages that I tapped back in slightly to use to wrap masking tape around so I didn't get paint in the bearing holes when I painted the transmission cases.

4 pointsI was thinking the dash plate too then kept reading and saw that he meant the console plate. I never thought about it but now I'm wondering if the metal and plastic dash plates would interchange. It may require that the choke and throttle controls be swapped out but I'm thinking thee plares would. According to my phone it was 3 hours and 16 minutes. Enjoyed every minute of it

4 pointsOf course my initial reaction would go 520HC, fastest 520 with less gauges being a commercial unit, but the C195 with an opposed twin Kohler and 3 pt hitch would be a sweet edition and engine wise pretty much the same as the C175...just my musings, Jeff.

3 pointsBeen working little on hood testing things on the 552. Bottom of hood I used mix of jb weld and Taryl putty. Top of hood is mainly jb weld. Front of hood had a dent and that's filled with taryl putty. I don't use bondo because of cracking risks plus it traps moisture. So what do you guys use for body filler. Sorry pics are out of order Maybe lol

3 pointsI would like to retract this statement. I have no money to throw at anything. I have kids.
-
3 pointsI have noticed for a while a rubber burning smell coming from the "Good Friday 520" while moving, I tore into it today to change out rear tires and found the super cheap eBay drive belt I put on it 3 years ago was falling apart, stole the new TORO belt from the 312-8 (I'll get a blue TSC belt to replace that 1) and fixed my issue.

3 pointsI'm thinking about making a d series into a articulated 4wd beast.instead of making it swivel in the center I was thinking make the front end swivel and still steer in the center. I think it would be easier that's how deere did it with 20 and 30 series deere articulates. Any thoughts
-
3 pointsI figured I should add a picture of the console. It is missing a part toward the seat.

3 pointsIt’s on here in various spots however... Might as well add it to this vintage truck thread as well. This was a chilly start to the last day that I drove it this fall. About 35 degrees out and I took my two youngest to school in it... They love riding in the ol’ Goat! I’ve owned it for 20 years. Restored it with my dad and (then fiancé) Kelli. We brought home all four kids from the hospital after their birth in it. Kinda like a member of the family. I can’t wait for the day that I get to ride shotgun as each one of them as earned the right to drive it! The legacy lives on!
-
3 pointsThe 520HC is the more elusive of the three isnt it? Other than rarity or usability, I would suggest one of two things: 1) Go with the one that catches your eye the most, or 2) Go with the one priced the lowest, then you have more to cash to roll into your protect from the get. Thats how I would go about it🤷🏻♂️
-
3 pointsThat's a tough decision but this being the case the three point hitch JMO to me would be the way to go. The attachments to hook up would be more than conventional. Maybe more attachments?

3 pointsFather in Heaven, you are the giver of life and the great physician. You know our needs and wants. Please heal Scotty and comfort the Scholliegerdes family. We know that his body has been damaged by an automobile crash, we know that with your healing hand on him Scotty will heal completely and live a long healthy life. We also know that you can make him whole again, you can repair damaged tissue, you can enable him to continue to serve you on this Earth. Lord, hear my petition. Be with his father and mother and all family as they experience this storm in their lives. I don’t always understand your plan for us, but I do trust that you work all things for the good. I only ask that it be your will to give Scotty good health. I ask these things in the name of your Son and my Savior, Jesus Christ. All glory and honor belong to you. Amen.

3 pointsThe 1965, 1966, and 1967s are basically the same horse. Most like the K-181 Kohler 8 hsp engines, and some came with the Tecumseh 6 hsp engines. Here is my 857...8 hsp electric start 1967 This is my 876 8hsp automatic trans 1966

2 pointsGot the Nanco AGs (they will be going on the 315-8 in WV) swapped out for a new pair of the OTRs on "Good Friday 520" today along with getting them filled with methanol (I got charged for 15 gallons so 7+ ea tire) and bolted both sets of iron weights back on as well so mother nature bring on some more snow so I can tell you all the differences.

2 pointsI wanted to show off my 953 i bought last year from the original owners son. I am very proud to own this piece of great american engineering. It was bought local in kendallville indiana the building is still standing where this tractor was sold. I got the greatest deal on it. It came with a snow blade, snow blower and a mower deck. i have since sold the snow blower because it was for a much newer horse. i am an originalist. This tractor i was told has only had an axle seal fixed and his dad many years ago slapped a new coat of paint on it. that is it never been rebuilt or anything else. It is one of my prizes horses.

2 pointsI finally got the templates adjusted and have stayed up past my bed time putting this concept together. I really like the way it turned out. Step 1. prepare your metal dash and powder coat or paint the entire dash plate with whatever color you prefer I chose to try Cowboy's new chrome powder and I think it looks awesome. I happen to think you could do a silver paint or white or maybe even linen beige any of those would look great. Step 2. Get out your decals. the red die cut vinyl (Wheel Horse) decal and apply on the top of your dash. the black letters for the rib are printed on a clear adhesive vinyl which is almost invisible on the chrome powder. It is long, skinny and thin but really pretty easy to lay down on the rib. I found it easier to line up the word ignition centered under the hole for the ignition switch off course. then the throttle lettering will be positioned correctly when laid down. then just work your way back to the left till it is all applied. You should have about a 1/16th left hanging over each end of the rib which you trim off with your exacto knife. Step 3. Remove your black and brushed chrome decal for the bottom of the dash plate from it's backing paper. step 4. position it up against the bottom of the rib with the lock arrow centered over the throttle hole. If it is lined up close to center you will have about 1/16" of decal hanging over the left side of the plate and about 1/4" hanging over the right end and bottom. IT should look like the following image when you turn it over to trim. step 5. turn your plate over and lay the bottom flat against your table (preferably a cutting mat) and trim all excess decal from your plate. then turn it back over and trim out all the holes . BOOM your done!! Much easier to install and you do not have to fight the rib trying to make the vinyl stay down in the creases. What do ya'll think.
