4 pointsWheel Horse 314-8 newbie was inquiring about decals for his tractor. Here is what I have so far. Need help with dimensions and spacing to complete the upper dash panel decal. Started working on the newer models with Martin a few years ago and have been meaning to get a set listed but somehow forgot about it. Many of the newer models are no longer so new and will be coming available for restoring in the not so distant future.

4 pointsSo i just got home from making my visit today! What a great and fun time. It was a true blessing to meet this lady and spend some time withe her. She was super friendly and such a joy to talk with. They 100% don't make folks like this anymore I guess you could say. I am planning another time to go see her and bring her some goodies for the holidays!

4 pointsThat's funny right because this past summer refilling the tank with non ethanol 93 octane, a fella in a newer ZR1 Vette , asked me if I ever ran any shine in it ...
-
4 pointsThat's what I'm talking about American muscle cars rule. There's just no room in a Lambo to run bootleg whiskey WVHillbilly520H 's Chevy
-
4 pointsYes. I plan to keep everything together. I am wanting to paint loader to correct color which is white. However I like the original patina on the tractor and don't want to paint it. We'll see how it goes

4 pointsThis is how it's done at my place fellas... my venison chilie .... Don't ask me for the recipe cause I make it different every time! Normally I will do shredded cheese for a top dressing but fresh out so japaleno curds had to pick up the slack. Gotta have the venison sausage just to wash things down!

4 pointsAssuming all gaskets and seals are good then the actual vent is the dipstick itself at the end of the dipstick handle. I have washed all of mine and water never got in. Note: If you have a trans that builds pressure then leaks oil out of seals then this vent may be plugged. I checked all of mine and at least 2 were plugged. Cleat

3 pointsHi guys. New member here. Just purchased a 1999 Wheel Horse 314-8 yesterday. I'm planning on tearing it down and repainting it and I've read alot about the new and old red arguments on here and was wondering, since mine is a 1999 I assume it is the new Toro red. What red color do most people go with to get it back to as close to factory as possible? Would Massey Ferguson Red that rustoleum makes be a good option or is Gloss Sunrise Red a better/closer choice? Also, what color do folks use for the grey wheels? Thanks for all the help!

3 pointsFound the ad a couple days ago on craigslist. It was pretty vague, but listed a phone number to reach him and was able to get some more info and pictures. The tractor was listed as a "418C, high hours but runs strong. Comes with deck and plow". The price was initially a bit of a turn off as it was more than i spent on my last two "nice" wheel horses combined, but after some research it was looking like a better and better deal due to the models rarity and the plow/weights/chains. Was finally able to align my schedule with the seller last night to go see it. From what i am told, he got it from the original owner who used it for a lawn care business, hence the hours. The hour meter lists approx 2400hrs, but the rest of the tractor does NOT seem that way, so maybe the key was left on a couple times. The tractor is in awesome shape, MUCH better shape than the 1600hr 314H i restored and sold last year. The 48" deck is in fabulous shape as is the 48" plow that it came with. Though i think it needs the carb cleaned, it ran very well, the hydrostatic drive and lift worked great, the PTO engaged easily and the deck was silent (new blades even!). I could tell that the fella who owned it for much of its life cared for it. It does need what the previous owner thinks is a starting solenoid. It wont start with the key, but will by jumping the terminals. My dads tractor (a 314-8 classic) also has this issue, so ill be diving into that this evening most likely. I was apprehensive about this tractor being hydrostatic as i didnt care for my last hydro tractor. However, the floor mounted lever as opposed to the column mounted lever definitely changed my mind, along with this tractor not being as worn out. I ended up paying 700 for it, which i thought was a fair deal considering the plow/weights/chains. I figure that stuff is worth a minimum of 200, so i came home with a very nice, and rare, tractor for around 500 bucks. As an added bonus, the guy i bought it from saved a set of chrome hub caps from the scrap yard. The fronts exist on the tractor, but he misplaced the rears since the wheel weights were on there. He will be getting them to me when he finds them. The biggest added bonus, buried treasure, hens teeth, was the hidden chrome rear wheels! Cant wait to get those things cleaned up! He said someone came to look at the tractor and offered him cash plus another set of wheels/tires in trade for them. Was that one of you guys?! I have attached the few pictures i have of it. Got home around 930 last night and didn't even get a chance to get it off the trailer. I look forward to getting my hands dirty with this one in the next couple days.

3 pointsOh 'Eck! Just read through this build thread and I'm begining to think it wasn't a good idea. Not your build I hasten to add. I think it's going to be the dogs whatsit's. I have a Raider 10 with a broken rod and knackered 3 speed trans'. A 14hp Kohler twin with vertical shaft. Six speed tran's off a Husqvarna which I've fitted WH hubs too. When I get the C-125 done, I think I'll have to see what I can come up with.

3 pointsYou nuts Armstrong?..thought we would like to see ?....I just wet my pants... that's like showing a bottle of booze to a recovering alky around here...... so much for my recovery plan! BTW what's up with the HD in the pic.... your baiting us here dude!
-
3 pointsI understand if you don't want to haul it all the way to Penn. but by chance would you be willing to haul it up to "Garden Tractor Daze" in Portage WI.? They are featuring Wheel Horse next year, which means we will have a roof over our exhibits & it would great to see that beautiful tractor there. Super job on the resto!!
-
2 pointsSo you don't want to spend tons of money to make it look new again, and your plan is to use spray can pant, so pictures are what we really need to help.
-
2 pointsSteve ......can't thank you enough for the assistance and eric thank you for the parts help i truly apreciate it and all the other memebers that have chimed in as well you have all been great thank you so much!!!
-
2 pointsIt has been a pleasure helping you get this horse up and running. The fact that it now shifts and runs fantastic is music to my ears. Enjoy your ride Mate.
-
2 pointsBrandon, my Honey's 657 does the same thing... She also has those small Tri rib tires in the front. Those steer great on dry ground but any moisture such as mud or snow and you have to really fight for control. I would highly recommend trying to get some kind of front weight on that machine. As Steve said, that machine looks great. I'm looking forward to seeing it again.

2 pointsI'll get some pictures up asap. I really don't want to have to get special paint mixed as that is costly. This will be a mower for use, not show. I'm trying to decide between the $11.99 per can toro paint or the $4.00 per can rustoleum sun rise red (or other suggestions, of course)

2 pointsThis past weekend I ran my towns local tractor parade with it. I was asked lots of questions about it and had a lot of interest in it by all ages.
-
2 pointsBrandon, I hate to say this, but you and I have some things in common...we do not need chains or wheel weights. Probably not much weight in the front end, you put a blower or a blade on there and I bet you would be OK. No such thing as tight pinions... The horse looks fantastic Mate.
-
2 pointsI spied that too.....Does this mean your gonna build a diesel franken horse with a three point Dan?

2 pointsAnother option to get the color just right. Take a piece from your tractor & buff the paint out to get it back to original. Then you could take that part to a local jobber or paint shop and have them mix the paint to match.
-
2 pointsJim got you on the loader price. That Brinly CAT 0 plow in the back ground is worth a few hundred.
-
2 pointsI checked all 3 of mine today and 1 was open, 1 was pinched shut at the end (looks like a factory error), and 1 was plugged with debris. Good information about that being a vent, never knew that, thanks.

2 pointsI scored some “me” time tonight, so I headed out to the shop. Doing some wiring layout and I shimmed the steering fan gear and snugged up the locking collar under the dash for good steering gear mesh.

2 pointsNot a truck, but vintage indeed! This is a 1967 Puch 250. It’s a “Twingle” cylinder two stroke; two pistons, one combustion chamber, no valves, a spark plug above each piston, the left cap on the fuel tank is a tank in a tank for SAE 30 oil. This was my great uncle’s in CA, from what we have figured out this is an Austrian bike that must have made it’s way back on a military return home. Grandpa got it from his brother and it was then given to a family friend, who had it about 15 years. My mom convinced him to give it back to me, and I’ve had it quite a few years now... maybe 6 or 7, maybe more. I’ve redun the wiring, got it running a few years back and rode it 12 miles each way to work a few times (on ‘77 plates). I need to go through it again, but other than wiring and the battery it is all original. The original tires still hold air and show no real dry rot signs, the kick stand has a perfect balance to keep the weight off the tires. I’ve had it up to 70 or so and it’s quite smooth too! I have done pretty extensive research on this bike, and I’ve not seen another Bike stateside with the same air cleaner, gas tank, and seat combo.
