12 pointsWell, we got 7 or 8" of snow last night so snow team is raring to go. It is still snowing but should stop soon so I will wait then try plowing first and only blow if I have to. Big tractor and blower are heavy and will sink into the ground as it has only been below freezing for a few days and ground is not frozen yet. Big tractor has loaded tires and 4x4 so it has no issues, 520HC has loaded tires and chains. Cleat
-
10 pointsWell the 520HC worked flawlessly. Driveway, turn lanes, path to bird feeders, path to burn barrel, old one car garage, 2 car shop, mailbox etc all done with no complaints. Tractor and blade are now resting in the heated shop (they deserve it). Cleat

9 pointsTrina and I spent some time this evening putting the snow/dozer blade on the Patriot B80. The first Wheelhorse Implement we've used. I've Never plowed with a tractor and I'm really looking forward to it. We had to find and install all the brackets and levers and located pins and bolts and such around the workshops. Aannddd... I was looking for all the above listed stuff and found a Wheelhorse down pressure bar !!! So of course I had to try it out on the leaves at the edge of the driveway. Here's a few pics.

7 pointsHad an appointment at the VA Hospital today so my wife and I rode together to her work so we could have lunch together. Coming back from lunch we got to where she turns into her building and there was a car blocking the entrance. Told the wife that I was going to push the car out of the entrance, thinking it was broke down. Another fellow helped so my wife and I and the other fellow pushed the car into the lot. The lady was upset and said that we had to push it onto the street because the company that owned the lot would tow it after two days and she wouldn't get paid until Tuesday. I looked at my wife and said well get you some gas. The other guy offered me money but I said to give it to her. We got her some gas and the wife got her a gift card for BP to get more gas.The lady said that she felt bad getting gas in her car because her children needed food. We told her that with gas she can go to a pantry and get them some food. Turns out that her husband knew of her situation and when she ran out of gas he just drove by and waved. I just don't understand some people. At least the Mother got home to her kids and was able to get her children some food. I guess I needed to vent. It is real hard some days to keep from trying to knock some sense into people.

7 pointsFabbed up a brake rod and mounted the wheels. Emory wanted to gas it up and go on a maiden run. Was a balmy 33 degrees outside. The little k91 fires right up. Drives good in all 3 gears, BUT...sounds a little like a coffee grinder😙. Given the wear on the differential gear, I expected that. I’m hoping it will smooth out a little with some use now that the chipped teeth are repaired and everything is lined back up as it should be with new bushings. Emory even went for a cruise in the dark. Couple of pics, hopefully more by early next week.

7 pointsI have a short length of drive that is in pavers (50'). For years I have cleaned that by hand or with a walk-behind blower to avoid scratch marks. Spent some fairly big bucks late last year to get some rubber chains. and a plastic edge for the blade on an Electro12. Never had a good opportunity to test it. Today I had both plows out about 7 inches of fairly heavy snow with a crusty top. Plowed several hundred feet with the Charger 12 and steel chains. She got the job done. Got out the rubber chain horse and she struggled to clear the paver area. Decided to run a comparison test out in front of the shop packed gravel with some grass.. No comparison. The rubber chains spun out after a few feet and she is only pushing a 42 inch blade. The Steel chained 48" blade went way further i stopped not her. If you have a paved drive and are worried about scratches rubber chains are better than no chains...but if you have gravel then steel chains and narrow tires are the way to go. I couldn't find rubber chains for 6.00x12 i think narrow is often better than wide.

6 pointsToday was the 1st snow fall for me here in upstate NY. It was also the maiden voyage for my C-161 and the 22hp predator swap. We got about 6" of heavy, wet stuff and the 42" single stage went through it like nothing. Of course this was after I managed to get unstuck and back in a clear spot. I bought some new AG's and weights but it was too late to swap tires, so all I had was turfs and rear weights. This setup proved to be a fail haha. I managed to suffer through and when I was done ran to TSC and picked up a set of chains. WOW...What a difference. Night and day I couldn't believe it. Now I just need to find a set of wheel spacers so I can make a little clearance so I can install the inner set of weights. My mufflers changed color from silver/grey to a nice golden color. The predator runs much much better now to now that it was able to get nice and warm and run for awhile. It did not like to idle without a little choke and now once warmed up will idle nice. I'm sure as it continues to break in it will just get better. Plus i'm sure there was some residual crap gas in the tank that is working its way through the system.

6 pointsAt thirteen years old I snuck into empty houses at night to sleep and out before dawn. In those days I collected pop bottles to sell so I could eat. Never once got in any trouble and was raised by Grandparents the last few years before joining the Army. I remember the kindness of people and have always tried to repay that kindness. Don't seek attention just try to remind folks to be kind to others and help when you can.

5 pointsHere is a short "Venison Tail" or tale. Understand about 50% of my families diet has been venison, trout, and white perch. While on a business trip to Graz Austria, Mrs. K and I were invited to dinner by our Austrian host. It was clear he was attempting to impress us when he picked us up at our hotel in his Mercedes and took us to a very exclusive castle style restaurant. He of course showed us the German menu, and recommended the venison or the rainbow trout. Not wanting to offend, we accepted his recommendation and ordered both. He never knew his $100 venison and trout dinners were our everyday meals.

5 pointsWell, it's been a while since I last posted, but we arrived in Zephyrhills, FL on 10/31 after dodging two hurricanes and diverting through Tenessee which was unplanned. Met some really nice folks along the way and stayed in some beautiful locations. Nice to say I'm NOT in PA dealing with the snow. It was 87 here yesterday, but a front went through dropping it to the high 60's, so it's sorta like PA fall. I miss my garage and tractors (in storage). It's a little weird living in an RV because it greatly restricts your buying ability because your first thought is always "I have no place to put that" Hope all is well and I'll try to stay more connected now that we are finally sitting. No free wifi, so I have to watch data on our jetpack Anyway, here are some spots we were at: Rutledge, GA Aiken, SC Murrell's Inlet, SC Zephyrhills, FL (until May)

4 pointsHappy birthday @C-101plowerpower! Hope your shoes still have soles, your plough keeps a perfect furrow and your fridge never empties!

4 pointsHey Guys—time to bring this thread back up again! Tomorrow Dad, Caleb, and I are going to be making a “pilgrimage” to Chi-Town for the annual MuscleCar And Corvette Nationals. Anyone wanting to take the “virtual” trip with us can follow this thread. Please chime in with favorite stories of Muscle Cars that you’ve owned over the years or ones that you wish you could own... @Shynon @Rp.wh @wallfish @19richie66 @WVHillbilly520H @Achto Just to let a few of the gear heads climb into the basement for this thread!😁

-
4 pointsHere’s to the day! I got a 7 and an 8! The 7 walked in to me 26 minutes after Imsat down in my stand this morning at 7:30 on the dot, the 8 point I called in with 3 short grunts and got him at 4:23 pm. Just got it from retrieving the latter one.

3 pointsSo we are hit with a surprise snow storm this morning. Thank goodness we finished leaf pickup yesterday. Well I go out to the garage and get my tire chains that I had on the 416-H last year winter, but they won't fit this year. No matter what I tried they were just too short. So what's going on here? Then my wife comes out and sees the smoke and steam coming out of my ears and asks 'do you even need chains? You just put new tires on before the show this summer!'...duh... new tires, more tread, larger diameter, chains too small. Moral of this story...be sure that your brain is fully engaged before working on your horse.

3 pointsUPDATE:!!!!! Well I had to press the Power King into duty earlier than I planned on. A foot of concrete snow was a bit much for HHHOOOWWWAAARRRDDD!!! to handle and I haven't had time to mount the blower on the C160. This blade worked great. pushed and piled like crazy with no bending of the pins. Yes snow got behind the blade but it's in it's early stages.

3 pointsEvery time I have done something kind for someone else like this, I’ve always ended up with a windfall for myself shortly after. Good deeds get rewarded, just like prayers get answered: one way or another.

3 pointsReminds me of when I was on Okinawa, and went out to a restaurant and ordered a steak.... from the 11000¥ price, (about 80 bucks when I first got to the island) I figured it would be a good sized steak, not to mention everything else that came with it. I was not at all happy when they brought me a 6oz filet. 6 ounces. I told the waiter that there must’ve been a mistake, that he brought me an appetizer instead of a dinner. Didn’t go over very well.

3 pointsFamous last words. Todays progress. Rest of tower removed and up onto the operating table. Methinks someone got carried away. Also ideas are forming that shouldn't be.
-
3 pointsGood test Paul, and I agree steel Vee Bars offer the best traction on unpaved surfaces. On my steep paved driveway the rubber hold better than the steel. Steel just does not bite on a hard surface. The rubbers did a pretty god job on the gravel this morning pushing the 48" blade through about 6" of our water logged snow.
-
3 pointsOkay Ed. I have to be honest here. When I first saw this picture, for a split-second, I didn't understand that it was a tiny toy tractor. Just for a split second. Seriously. No really. Hahahahahahaha

3 pointsI am getting pretty forgetful myself. I solved that chain problem by keeping the 2 stage blower with chains, weight box and cab on my 520 year around👍

3 pointsWAIT UNTIL YOU ARE MY AGE (89) JOHN I CAN REMOVE THE SNOW FROM YOUR DRIVEWAY FOR $1.00 PER INCH OF SNOW. . BUT I CAN NOT DO IT UNTIL JULY. RUSS
-
3 pointsWell that explains all the school closings this morning. Guess it's about time to get a blade on horse.
-
2 pointsThanks @pullstart, that sounds straight forward enough to attempt. I'm still a long way off from charging tires but just trying to get my ducks in a row when the time comes. I'm still looking at a couple of Carlisle tubes on line, ratings I saw looked pretty good, and they were still only a couple bucks more than the cheapest of the cheapies. I sent the Carlisle company an inquiry form on their website with my valve questions, haven't heard back from them yet. I agree with @ebinmaine that Rimguard is probably just covering their butt and may not even be an issue in most cases. Heck, I wouldn't be afraid to guess that probably most of the ballasted tires out there are probably just in regular ole tubes. I do know for fact on my tractor, the original owner had calcium in the rears from the time when it was near new in the late 60's until probably 20 years ago when the one tire totally let go on me. But that wasn't the valve's fault, just good old fashioned dry rot in the tire rubber. And these were in just plain old inner tubes, no special valves. As a matter of fact, I still have the other tire sitting out in the storage shed, still has the calcium in it, and still has air in it! The tires I have currently been running are used replacements, but I never got around to charging them. Eric, I know what your saying as far as getting tubes from the dealer that installs the beet juice. The only downside is, my local dealer that does this work is also a franchise dealer of the green machines, and could almost imagine what he would charge me for new tubes .

2 pointsFor all grounds I always use star washers and dielectric grease between wire end and ground. Never had a problem afterward. Don't be stingy with the grease...

2 pointsIs your ACR still working? if you turn the engine over slowly with a wrench do feel a slight reduction in effort on the compression stroke as you bring it up (when the exhaust valve pops up a bit). There are springs and counterweights some thing could have come off gotten stuck then fell to the bottom of the oil pan.... Edit: holding your finger in teh spark plug hole as you slowly turn her over you should feel teh compression build then go away then build again....
-
2 pointsUnlikely since with tractor shares shelter with two cats. Never have problems with rodents here.
-
2 pointsBuddy of mine picked up a C-120 with a nice 42" deck for a song because "engine was locked up". Pulled the starter and freed it up. Worked perfectly and sold it for big bucks. Just sayin'...
-
2 pointsThe grandsons were using them for weapons last summer, so they are probably in the woods buried in snow.
-
2 pointsI’ve never tasted a type of venison I didn’t enjoy. I recall breaded butterfly stakes and hind quarter pot roasts being of my favorite! I’ll process them with the help of Mrs. Pullstart, and anything that doesn’t look like a steak or a roast will be ground in the kitchen aid.
-
2 pointsThey will hang until Saturday at the least, Amazon is sending me a food saver vacuum packaging kit I’m on cloud nine. When the 8 came in and I knew I hit him, the trees were literally blurred and everything felt like the world was spinning the wrong way!
-
2 pointsCould be the ignition switch, it all depends on which contacts failed. Of course a bad connection elsewhere is also possible, I suggest you download the demystification guide.
-
2 pointsAlthough the warm cab tempted me, I didn't even try to blow this heavy wet snow with the tall chute SS blower. I went with the 48" plow and had no problems. A plow or a dual stage blower is required for this stuff.
-
2 pointsSucks get'n older. Would this have happened to you10 years ago? I notice these little things happen more often to me now and I'm not look'n forward to figuring out my tire chains 10 years from now

2 pointsMy wife asked me why I need 3 tractors. I said one for each grandson. Before she thought about the outcome she asked, what about the granddaughters. Now I need 5 more.
