15 pointsHello. One year ago I came across this abused but cheap Gutbrod 2500..... but immediately saw the potential for a vonversion to a D250. Much time and money has gone in to it, and I`m still not done. But I`l get there All the eigth bolts that holds the diff together was broken , but like a miracle the brass planetery gear was in one piece and no broke gears....some ugly wear, problaby from little and gunky oil, but it works. The ignition distributor was missing. Bought one from france....mounted it and it fired up. But after running it for a while, it was oil in the water and water in the oil Off with the cylinder head. It was bent like a banana, and previous owner had used the gasket over again Had the head milled down 0,4mm Back together with new gasket. Running fine, but now the oil was raising and smelled gas......gaspump was shot too. Engine was running nice, but there was something strange. The rpm got to high (Tractor was yet to be driven). Dismantled the gouvernor.....or whats left of it. Also the steering was pretty bad... First drive this summer with new rear wheels. Stripping some old paint to get ready for new I`m keeping the Gutbrod dash-style with the turnsignal and hazzard switch. Also gonna keep the turnsignal, cause I find them a bit cool. This is how it looks today. Painted hood and new tires in the front. Rear fenders where a mess. Built them up again so I could make a plug, to make a mold so I can cast a new one in fiberglas. this is how far I got, present time. I`ll have to rebuild the front Pto from a 6 splined to a axle with a keyway?? Cause I`m missing the the pulley mounted to the 6splined axle. Also the yokes in front I`m missing. found out that these are mouch easier to get with a standard 25mm bore and a keyway. If anyone know or can measure the outer diameter of the pulley mounted on the Pto axle I`ll appreciate that!!! I`m in the forum from time to time reading and watching all the nice tractors you have, and all the good work you are doing to them. My Suburban in weekly use. Here operated by my daugther. 9 pointsToday was a perfect day for a tractor outing, mild temperatures and nice sunny skies..... Unfortunately this year's turnout was down from prior years. I took my 418-C for a little Kruisin in the sunshine. I enjoyed some time and conversation with member @turnnleft and his grandson. They always have a great display and my is the metal-flaked Suburban 400. The rest of his herd is outstanding too including his grandson's peddle RJ. This Cushman Auto Glide was one of many things that caught my eye. Wish they would have taken this early bike off the trailer so I could get a good shot of it. I know we have some chain saw collectors here, this is for you. here are some other garden tractors and other interesting stuff, enjoy.

I had made myself a cup and a couple had seen it in a picture and wanted one. So I made some. This one here was an experiment to see if I could duplicate “patina”. I think it came out ok. It’s a 20oz stainless Ozark Trail cup. These are handmade so the clear coat is not always smooth as glass but they come out nice. So here is the giveaway. The “Patina Cup”. 4 pointsWell besides picking a up B80 recently, I also had another friend give me a 1962 Cub Cadet Original project. So far it is coming along nicely, even had it started up. Some "Before and After" pictures. Still have a ways to go yet.

4 pointsIt's not only about Red tractors or wheel horse's that makes this one of the best site's. It's the People always helping and going out of there way to make sure we get it fixed right. I belong to many sites ,dodge,jeepkj and there's none like Redsqure. I've said it many times . there's no better site in the world. I will be a supporting member as long as I live.

2 pointsFigured I'd move out of the introduction forum and start a thread documenting what I'm doing and have done to my GT-14 to hopefully bring it back to life. I hope this is the correct section and that this sort of post is allowed. If it isn't, I apologize. I ordered a new carburetor for it due to the fact that the original has close to 1/4 inch of side-to-side play in it. $14 on ebay. Can't beat that. Confirmed by a few of the pictures I posted in my introduction, the right side wheel/axle was sticking too far out. I glanced at it in the rain and automatically thought that the C clip holding the axle in had come off, and that the axle was slid out. I was wrong, the hub is simply loose on the axle and is slid out about as far as it can go! The good news of not having to pull the trans apart was soon overshadowed by discovering that the hydro pump is stuck. I cannot turn the pulley on it. I'm not sure how it would've taken on water, but maybe it did. I suppose it's possible that it's simply burnt up. I guess I'll have to pull it off and see what I find. I need to buy a pair of tubes for the front tires. One leaks from the sidewall where it's sat flat, and the other is off of the rim and I assume it'll leak the same way. The rears already have tubes and appear to hold air. I'd put new tires on the front of it, except for the fact that it still has the original wheel horse tires all the way around, and I think that's neat. Our local antique tractor and engine club that I'm a part of is putting on a show this weekend and I was hoping to have it running and take it to that. With the hydro pump pulling this stunt, I doubt that'll happen. More updates and pictures to follow as I progress.

2 pointsWhile it's not Wheel Horse branded, I think these gears might have originality been red... I'm the most recent owner of a set of wagon gears that I couldn't pass up. Plan to restore them and use them as the base for a portable hunting shed. Just picked them up tonight and still trying to identify them. I think I can see some ID numbers cast into the integral wheel hubs and possibly even an IH surrounded by a large "C," meaning they may be International Harvester gears. 95% of the fasteners are square headed bolts and nuts, and the bracket for the tongue is 4" wide, leading me to believe it was built prior to WWII and used with a wooden tongue as a horse drawn wagon. I'm reasonably sure I read somewhere that the time period for farm implements to change over to hex headed fasteners was during the 1930s. I've just got two preliminary photos taken where she sat when I bought her. More research to follow and more photos, too. Cheers! Dave More on the Farm Truck Wagon..... It is definately an International Harvester Corporation set of gears. Confirmed that this morning in good light and the aid of a wire brush. The green algae growing on it had me fooled. Thought it might be of John Deere heritage. One I got of the wire brush I found blue paint on the hubs, red paint on the wheels and the frame surely was painted IH red at some point. It needs tires and a good sandblasting before paint, but it should be worth the time to fix 'er up. It will be a good winter project for my new shop. Cheers, again! Dave

2 pointsI worked about a week winterizing mine. Cleaned and waxed the hull, new bilge pump, desalted the motors, drained and refilled the lower units, painted the props, drained the fuel tanks, ran a concentration of fuel and sta-bil through the motors, then pulled the plugs and fogged the cylinders. Just a caution for all boaters. I removed both fuel tanks for cleaning. The large tank is aluminum and it cleaned up OK. The small tank is a 6 gallon steel painted tank. When I turned it over to dump out all the old fuel, I noticed the paint on the bottom was blistered , so I decided to paint the tank. When I scraped the blisters off, I could see holes in the tank. The tank had rusted through under the paint. If the tank had leaked the 6 gallon of fuel into the bilge and tripped the bilge pump float switch who knows what could have happened. That steel tank has been replaced with a plastic tank. She is resting in winter storage. Also put a couple horses away for the winter and brought the snow movers home.

2 points@ZXT, Welcome to the forum. I'm a GT 14 owner also. I have the first year, 1969, 1-7441 model that I've owned going on about 40 years now. There several of us GT 14 model enthusiasts here at the forum, but they are not as common in many ways to older Wheel Horses, or even some later models. They are a bit of a hybrid, but several guys here know much collectively to be able to advise you how fix about any problem you'll encounter. If you do a search of GT 14 related threads, you'll find a wealth of info on prior common problems and their fixes (or workarounds). I saw in Classifieds you were looking for a gas tank. The common problem is the busted/split plastic nipple on the bottom corner of the tank (damn poor design flaw, IMO). Aldon arrived at a relative easy fix for that if your tank has no other problems. Also I noted you are looking for a wiring harness. I'd give up on that idea and fabricate your own all new harness. You'll be time, money, and problem free ahead if you do that. The chances of finding a trouble free used GT 14 harness are to be equated with winning the $1 Billion lottery this weekend. I believe both @Aldon and @19richie66 have done work in this area and can probably provide good advice. As to the mower deck, if you had original mounts and the old style mule drive I could provide advice as I've had lot of experience keeping mine running over the years. Aldon has adapted the new style deck mount and front mule drive to one of his GT 14s and can be of some guidance in that department. Sounds like your first order of business is likely sorting the tranny out first. If you have to split the cases, just remember surgical cleanliness is next to godliness when dealing with hydro internals. Regards, Steve

2 pointsI'd say it's a mix and match. Looks to have started as a 1962 - 702,552 or 502. But some one has replaced the engine with a briggs and cut the hood for it to fit. Also they did something to the front of the frame and added a front axle from a 63 or newer machine and replaced the steering wheel. But if the price is right, I'd still say it's saveable.

2 pointsUpdate: I pulled the drain plug and there were no metal shavings or parts in the oil - but a slight trace of possible water. The engine seems to be loosening up some, I was able to turn it more and I can see the piston moving now. I pour a mixture of transmission fluid and acetone in to loosen it up some more. On a side note, I couldn't live with the rear tires on backwards anymore, just in case someone excuse me of doing it. So I switch the tires around so they're now pointing in the right direction.

2 pointsTheir are 2 styles of pumps on the gt14. Hydroogear and piston piston. Some were changed out under warranty to the piston piston style. It depends what you have in order to rebuild it
